If you are talking about the team I think you are, they said they are waiting for official froyo to do it..

Once official froyo source drops. Things will go more smoothly.. its amazing that our devs here have made the progress they have given the lack of necessity available.

I was just about to make a thread asking about the development of this Galaxy Sense we heard about last month.

With launcher pro a custom dock and beautiful widgets you can make your homescreens look just like the sense ui if you want it for the ascetics or as a placeholder til it gets ported

Hero/evo/epic I ran cm6 on both htc devices. I rather have a pure aosp. I don't like none of the manufacturers gui's.

The Hero was the first android phone I ever owned, I loved sense on it because there were so many ways to customize it to my liking, tw just sucks, I want to go back to the evo so I can go back to the sense + froyo + CM6, but the epic's keyboard and excellent performance are keeping me here

Yeah I know alot of people like it pure google.
but to me it just isnt appealing or as functional.
the hero was my first android device so I did get spoiled
with htc sense. Just to my likings that it brought a better
experience and refresh to the Android interface. Widgets and apps.
I prefer it over TW. There are just a few things I prefer TW
over sense per say.

I think the rom was released and then discontinued for the galaxy s i9000 due to the devs having muliple issues that they were not able to resolve. Link to post --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877902

The only thing I ever liked about Sense UI were the widgets and the Weather effects.
With LauncherPro, you can get pretty much identical widgets, and then Beautiful Widgets will give you the same look of the clock widget. Plus, LauncherPro is infinitely customizable and you can do pretty much anything with it....
Sense UI has always been extremely laggy and slow in all the times I've used it, as a ROM port on my Nexus, and also stock on the Evo/Hero.
Wouldn't mind trying it out again on my Epic though!

The older version of fancy widget is also a wonderful alternative to the sense clock/weather widget.

Touchwiz

So the other galaxy s phones have touchwiz 3.0 and the epic has 2.5? Why would they take away all the internal storage and dumb down the software?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
A quick search and you'll discover that the Epic has TW 2.5 because of the phyiscal keyboard, which uses landscape mode more often than the other phones in the Galaxy S Series. TW 3.0 was not fully optimized enough for landscape mode at the time of release.
The choice was to further delay the release of the phone or use a modified version of TW 2.5, and most of us are happy to have the phone with 2.5 than have no phone at all.
If you must have 3.0, I suggest a different phone on a different carrier or wait to purcahse our Epic after the update (date TBA)...
I know very little about touchwiz except from playing with the epic so can someone tell me what touchwiz 3 provides over 2.5?
Im roaming in a 1xrtt area so searching for things is a nono. And im only asking a question, no need to get defensive bruh. But anyways, so the other galaxy s' cant use landscape mode as efficiently? Or just the home screen?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I think touchwiz 3.0 is just alot more eyecandy like the puzzle lock screen and the updated media player. Idk im not well versed in touchwiz. I wish they gave an option to go vanilla. I hated when they took that option off from the hero when they updated it to eclair

It's part eyecandy and part functionality. 3.0 supports changing the icons at the bottom bar and adding and removing pages from the home screen, for starters. 3.0 is a nice jump ahead of what 2.5 offers.

I would hardly call it a "rom", its more like a "theme". There is no actual development done, just someone else's kernel pasted into cm6.1.1, and a half dozen png's changed....

+1 to this l, bro. However, given that there are no sense-based phones with an official gingerbread update from HTC, this seems highly unlikely to happen until then. Otherwise the rom will need to be built from scratch, which makes such a thing highly undeaireable from the Dev standpoint, I'd imagine.

alright, perhaps I need to rephrase. I find that, compared to the crap on the stock rom, a True sense-based ROM is much less bogged down with useless software (IMHO)and includes programs I actually like and use (reader, locations, htc hub for skins, etc). Yes, compared to an AOSP rom or CM, it is much more bloated, but all that comes from the polish applied to the UI which I happen to find quite appealing, but which some do not.
+1 to that... Sense is such a great thing, i love everything it has to offer! just wish the battery life could be a bit better~ other than that i use it as my daily driver!
I know alot of people who don't like sense, when I ask why they can't Answer why. Sense looks good and works great. If someone could combine it with gingerbread I would be hooked. My first sense phone was the hd2 and after coming to the mytouch and seeing how good the sense was I was pleased with what they did.

htc sense is very nice vs stock android.. stock android is sooooooooo boring and doesnt have all the nice widgets that htc sense hooks it up with and the nice looking ui. but the only good thing about stock android is it doesnt take up as much ram as the htc sense does. thats the only thing ive noticed different. also gingerbread is nice to run but i keep going back to htc sense for all the nice widgets.. i really love the weather one.. ive seen apps like it but they arent the same at all.

I for one prefer the AOSP look of Android. And loath Sense, It's so much bloat for not enough to warrant it. and if you want those widgets you get to download what you want. And Launcher Pro has a good chunk of those widgets included in the launcher.
as far as "weather widgets" the one off the LG 2X is perfect enough for me.

Poll Sense or no Sense?

just curious what people are using or like
Using cm7 and the only thing I miss from sense is the Calender app and all the Widgets. Oh and also the browser. But I would say no sense
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
For calendar, agenda widget is a better replacement to me. For friend stream and the sms widget, I find pure messenger widget is great replacement.
As you can tell, I much prefer the smoothness and customization of CM myself. But sense is pretty candy I'll admit.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
I'm currently on cm7 and now that almost everything works, I'm liking this better than sense. Also, much easier to theme lol.
Sent from my PG06100
Sense has its ups but all in all I gotta have my aosp. I started with it on the moment and didn't even think twice about putting cm6 and aosp roms on my heroc. So for my shift it was kind of a no brainer. Although the shift did make me start to like sense more then I already did.
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
Sense is definitely the most polished and developed of the "skin" frameworks, imo. There is a lot to like about it as mentioned above, but I prefer going without it.
Never liked sense til mikshift...I prefer an aosp build but hate cyanogen..since the g1..so til I have enough time to get a mikaosp I'm pro sense lol
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
I like either one. To be honest

No Sense.
I don't *dislike* Sense. There are a lot of great things about it like the widgets everyone loves and tries to imitate. It just takes up a lot of space and uses a lot of resources to run. Though I have to admit I've never seen it run as amazingly fast and smooth as it does on the Shift.
That said, CM7 is light, fast and awesome. I mostly missed the Sense calendar widget too, but the one in Launcher Pro Plus is pretty slick and fills that gap nicely.
If I had to choose I would defently go with sense best skin out there by far. I think I would also choose it over aosp
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
Sense looks ok, but I don't like the inflexibility of it. If I don't want it, I want to be able to delete it, and Sense doesn't like being deleted in my experience. AOSP for me.
You can't beat the social integration Sense has, but with a little bit of work pretty much any aosp rom can be ALMOST equal.
CM7 is great. The theme engine is great as well.
My rom of choice for the last couple weeks has been MIUI, sure there's no wimax or mms but mms is coming I'm sure. When I'm in wimax coverage areas for now I just nandroid.

I was glad to not have Sense on my phone anymore when I flashed CM7. I think stock Android 2.3 just looks cleaner and more professional than Sense, and HTC has made some odd choices with the updated Sense UI (is a themes button on the bottom widget really necessary?) that I don't like.
CM7 all the way for me.

Agreed. I was never a huge fan of the AOSP look before, but with the change in 2.3 to the more unified black theme, black status bar, etc. it looks really slick and professional. Sense looks nice in some aspects, but I guess I just don't like the "everything is shiny!" thing going on there.

But, I'm running CM7 at the moment, and getting used to it. I still miss some of the sense goodies tho
Haven't been on Sense since I rooted my Hero. When I rooted this, got off sense right away too. Not a big fan of sense, it's just too much.

I agree with you on the vanilla part. However there are something's of sense that I like. Like the text selector I think it is superior to aosp. I would love to run a sense 3.0 rom without the lockscreen. That ring annoys the crap out of me.
