[Q] multitouch - Intercept General

there is a method to enable multitouch on my ideos?
i've read about the screen is capacitive and not resistive maybe there is a software block to disable it
anyone have a solution?
reagards

Impossible due to HW limitations. Soneone simulated it on a Kaiser (tilt) but was pretty useless.... Hmmm maybe it was on WM and nit Android, can't remember.

It was WM...I remember trying it on my TP2...not really an upgrade at the time.

this is interesting because some programs seens to "detect" when i perform a multitoutch, like if i press 2 points on the screen it give me back a midle point on the screens, dont it means that it can see where im clicking on 2 points on the screen?

It just detects it like one giant finger-press.
..it gets the median.
Basically you have a finger the size of a fist

I'm thinking of buying this tablet and did some research and found the following video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_kg96ZX6yA
At about 2:20 mark, it seems there is multitouch but as the quality of the sound is not very good I can't make out what he said.
Does anyone know what the person says at that point?

That's a video of the new Huawei tablet with a capacitive screen. It should be out soon. See the description below the video: The new Huawei Ideos S7 second generation Android tablet phone showing off its phone function, Google Maps A-GPS locking and playing the Angry Birds Seasons game.

Thanks. Didn't see that.

Problems with scrolling on HD.

Anyone been have problems with the scrolling? It seems to jump and stutter alot, say when scrolling through the apps in market place. Also while scrolling, if you keep your finger on the screen the screen starts to shake, when it shouldn't be moving at all!!??
Anyone having these problems??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
its not a 'problem' most cpacitive screens exhibit this my htc legend did the same and so does a friends X10, and motorola backflip. im not sure why it happens i think it might have somethign to do with the software calculating the exact center point of your finger.
or maybe your finger is shaking ? even if you cant see it chances are there is a slight movement in your finger
I defo ain't got shakey hands. Its really annoying, I've got an x10 also, and i don't have this problem I'm having with my HD!.
Scrolling through the market is the worse, as it stutters and jumps while browsing.

That's pure bad coding...
Has nothing to do with the screen itsself. I'm still wondering why Android has not been able to make a phone that does not lag anywhere, like Apple already did many many years ago in a device with maybe 1/4 of the DHD's power... Don't get me wrong, I like my DHD an I would never trade it back for a 3GS but come on, isn't it time for lag to leave Android?

well the answer is simple, apple only has 1 hardware variant to account for android has to account for many different hardware combos which means more problems and will most likely never be perfect.
a good example is windows it has to support everything and to this day certain hardware combos can cause major issues. apple and any other fixed hardware/software vendors have a much easier time because everything is the same for every device sold. id also be willing to bet the iphone 4 is still using the same radio hardware from the 3g

Multi-Touch problem in Nexus S?

I found that sometime when you touch two points at the same time, the phone doesn't response as expected. The screen only detect one point being pressed. This happens quite often and I am wondering if it is my phone's issue.
You can notice the problem easily when playing "Slice It".

Multi touch is app dependent, some apps dont support it, open up google maps and pinch to zoom
Multi touch works fine for me. Nothing like the shennaigans of the Nexus One. Downloaded multitouch visulaizer 2 - my touch screen can detect 5 points of touch at once!
Edit - I see what you mean on sliceit. Sometimes if you put down 2 fingers simultaneously, it will lose the track on one of the fingers. All you have to do is lift that finger and put it back down again and it regains track.

I noticed that with Slice It! too and was messing around investigating it. Also, I think it's the app's issue, since I've never had any other problems with multi-touch anywhere else.
sound like more of a bug with some specific Apps rather than a hardware issue.
as the multitouch test apps works just fine, if it were a hardware problem those test apps should be failing as well.
I don't know if you guys remember, but when the N1 got its first update to enable "multitouch", there was a lot of speculation that it wasn't true multitouch as Apple has it patented. I wonder if they're continuing on that same track or whether Google said screw Apple and dropped it in anyway.

No. back then they used thinkpad2000 or something like that. forgot the same. wasnt real one " much like what Sony is doing with xperia x10" right now
the nexus s has true multi touch.
On the subject do any of you guys have problems with zoom in your photo galleries. When ever i try to pinch to zoom in for example to someones face it will start to zoom somewhere else. Don't know if its just my phone or everyones.
I tried to do the multi touch test using multi touch visualizer and multi touch tester. In multi touch tester, it only detect one touch point when i touch two points at the same time. In multi touch visualizer, it detect two touch points but the second point has a 1-2 second delay when i do the same test. I did the same test using Droid and galaxy s and they don't have the problem mentioned...any thought?

Slightly off topic, but in the Gallery app in the Album thumbnail section, you can two-finger press an album and spread your fingers and it'll give you a mini-slide show right there. Very impressive.

i never heard of a screen that has a multi touch problem as in hardware issue.
but try different nexus S. if its doing the same thing then your phone is fine.

Apple patented a specific method for implementing multi-touch... part of it is UI, which was only granted in the US, and part was technical... in either case, there are new ways of doing multi touch in technical terms, and as for UI Apple doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to "generic" actions like pinch to zoom, et al.
Some ppl in thus thread also experience the same problem. To me this is not a acceptable multi touch experience. I hope this can be fixed by an firmware update.

Atrix 4g is a nono for heavy touchscreen users

If you are considering purchasing an AT&T Atrix 4G I have to warn you that it is a very bad product for heavy touchscreen users (AKA: gamers). Why? Because the touch input is turned off if you keep your fingers pressed on the screen, on the same spot, for a long time. This is supposed to make the phone ignore permanent input from, say, a waterdrop. Which although it makes sense is so poorly implemented that makes the screen confuse your finger with a waterdrop (lol).
Unfortunately motorola's devs don't have a single clue about what gaming is about and community devs:
a) don't game;
b) don't care; or
c) don't have a clue how to fix it.
To confirm the issue try a free app called Phone Tester and run the multitouch test keeping your finger pressed, on the same spot, until the app recognizes number of touches. Takes about 15s to disable the touch input (at least on a AT&T phone).
PS: if ORANGE and BELL users can keep the fingers pressed longer than 15s without the phone disabling touch input we know it's AT&T's fault.
I didn't buy this phone just for gaming, that's why I have an xbox.

I don't game on my Atrix anymore, though I used to before I had a Transformer to play those games on. Never once did I have a problem with the touchscreen on the Atrix playing games, holding down on the screen was never an issue, even playing nes and snes roms. The only difficulty playing games on it was the small screen and thin size which made it hard to hold and play.
Thanks for making a big deal out of nothing.
The OP's complaint is a non-issue to 99.5% of the atrix community. SPAM!

U guys play Guerrilla Bob? Galaxy on Fire? Anything that you have to keep your thumb up in the screen? You guys are insane if you think this isnt a problem.
I am much more interested in finding a way to be able to transmit my music via fm to my car stereo.

I agree this is a huge problem for me as well. I'd like to see Ninja include the hack to turn this off. Maybe when CM7 finally gets ported it won't be in there. If ninja goes AOSP with the stupid raindrop detector off, I'll put it on.
There's no such problem with atrix like the one that op stated. Maybe it was there with older roms but now no such issue. People like to talk from what they see on the videos without ever touching or owning.
Atrix doesn't have a gyro for better gaming and that's it.
OP is a goofball
heh your calling us insane? I have every tegra game, its a non issue, take a finger off the screen for split second every once and a while. Mole hill, meet your mountain!!
GOF2THD is great, Bangbang racing, f**king goldeneye 64 and starfox 64 with onscreen controls works great, although my wiimote works better. N64 games are epic with or without controller, OP doesn't know what he's talking about.

The problem really exists and it is a fact. But it only happens when you press an area without move for ˜15 seconds. Once you get used to it, you can avoid it easily.
You can not say Atrix is a bad product just because of it. It's true that there are better products than Atrix, but it doesn't mean that Atrix sucks.

Games are for babies, you should of bought a DS if you wanted a toy so bad.
Well, of course for pure gaming there are much better alternatives out there (xbox, ps3, nds, etc). But it sucks that such potential enjoyment for such a powerfull device is pretty much ruined thanks to this issue.
And I'm not saying Atrix is a terrible device. It is a great device, just not for gamers. That's all. What bugs me is no one from motorola or the dev community seem to be giving much attention to this issue. Which is A VERY BIG ISSUE for gamers.

Oh Im quite sure you're a decidedly grown man who edits Excel spreadsheets and write philosophy books on your cellphone. For the rest of us, the need to "take a finger out of the screen for a split second" every frigging 15 seconds may be very, very annoying. Or not. The fact is, the phone has this issue, and it makes 0 sense.
this only happens if you touch the screen an dont move. if youre playing a game and not moving youre kinda lame
It's a known issue, and Motorola acknowledged it a good while ago. They claimed that they would try to find a balance between the raindrop detection and gaming, though only time will tell if an official patch manages to fix it up.
As previous users have said though, if you can just get used to a release for a split second every so often it really isn't a problem.
I can't found a single game where you have to keep your fingers still more than 2 seconds!

Touchless Smartphones - Do you see the SGS2

Its on the BBC page...
Why Post here you ask ? - Well I saw the guy with an SGS2 cleverly hiding the samsung logo.. I guess I SGS2 will be a definite keeper and better things to come
A tiny Israeli start-up company called XTR3D - soon you'll be able to flick through channels and adjust the volume using only... your hand.
You'll just have to turn your palm towards the screen, and zap away without ever getting off the couch.
And no need for under-the-skin electronics or fancy microchips.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-15970019
Although the Israeli firm follows in the footsteps of Microsoft's Kinect, the multi-directional gesture control gaming console that was launched last year and has since been selling like hot cakes despite the average $200 price tag, its technology is quite different.

XTR3D
The Kinect has depth sensors, multi-array microphones and RGB cameras that provide the software with the information it needs to track both voice and gestures.
XTR3D, on the other hand, uses ordinary 2D cameras - such as a webcam of a computer or the one in your smartphone - to extract 3D out of a 2D image.
This creates the same three-dimensional effect as on the Kinect.

I want to make an Xperia Play 2

xp2 is on hold.
i'd better go with the new HTC one as a base, because of the stereo front speakers and the better hardware
This sounds like a really cool & Fun thing to do, but even if anything were to go ahead and happen sony would shut it down as "Xperia Play Gamepad - Slideout" is patented...
So their would have to be some other mechanic other than a slide out!
But if this really happens, We would all be the ones LAUGHING in Sonys Face about THE COMMUNITY Creating a V2 of their successor!, They dont want to make a v2 because of the "PS Vita" Sales, I mean that thing was TERRIBLE!
So if this does conntinue on, im glad to contribute on the software side!,
but using galaxy s3 as base means that he cant do it
he should use xperia z as base so he can port sony framework to it and get all xperia play games work on that with jb
Beat me too it.
I was also beginning to do research of my own to begin on my own build (I was waiting till It was finished to post) also I agree with pedyvirus that the xperia z would be a better base.
QUESTIONS?
What specs are you hoping to have? (minimum)
What major changes are you hoping to integrate into your xperia?
Lastly wouldn't the slide out keyboard be fine as long as you don't try to make money off of it?
GOOD LUCK AND PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED

Personally I like the gamepad being part of the phone this way there are no connection errors, no need for Bluetooth, or compatibility issues. That's what makes the xperia play so amazing, its there when you need it with no hassle. If we were to have a gamepad case we would just be another smartphone.

Wow this is amazing. Maybe tegra 4 base and massive amount of ram. 5inches or more display. For controls if slide out is patended use on side (psp like) and clampshell (3ds like).
Im considering getting nvdia shield once released, but with this, with phone function i think this will be much better.

I am still looking for people who are good at electronics
If you feel you have the talent, email me and I will support you
I'll definitely buy an Xperia Play successor, but I'm not that good in micro-scale Electronics. I really hope the best for this project.
I do hope for the best of this project. My suggestions are for the minimum spec it can run PSP games smoothly on PPSSPP. Has its own Game Keyboard, but still affordable

Unless he obtains the rights to use the hardware and goes through all the other legal issues, I dont see this available for sale. Maybe donate 'x amount' and receive a free phone but still, the undertaking of this project is likely the most ambitious on all of xda. I wish him luck but I won't be holding my breath.

I really like Thea idea of this.
I think the specs shouldn't be too
powerful(snapdragon 800 etc ).
They minimum I'd like to see is dual core clocked at 1.5hgz
I don't know why but I prefer dual then quad core and gpu of
Snapdragon 300.
But I don't really know alot on develoing phones but I would love
get my hands on xperia play 2 even if it had a dear price
I'd buy it
13mp camera 1080p
vita analogs
Nice clicky buttons like the old play maybe two separate pads that slide out to the side?

Not yet there should be one by the end of the year though but the problem is there's so many android devices it would be hard to support so they're probably only going to support certain popular phones or else theyll make a general one for certain sizes that clips on the back

Questions for everyone.
Just for fun lets have hear some opinions on xperia play 2.
Q#1
What are your 3 must haves for an xperia play 2?
Mine are #1 Physical analog sticks. I don't care if they are psp nubs, ps vita type analog, or real playstation analog sticks.
#2 Awesome sound quality (loud and clear) xperia play did this great and I hope they continue with this.
#3 An amazing screen I'm talking about HD to the extreme with the quality of games being so high now we need something to back that up.
Q#2
What design would you like Clamshell, slider, or candybar.
I would prefer a clamshell design with 2 screens one on the inside and one on the outside. This to me would be the best way to incorporate the analog sticks and massive speakers. also it would cool if it paused what you were doing on your first screen so when you were done gaming you can go back to what you were doing as soon as you close it. I like the xperia for the fact that you can hide the controls and hopefully the xperia play 2 will also have this business on the outside gaming on the inside.
Q#3
lastly, this is random but what color/material would you like?
If it was a color option it would be red all the way.
But if there was an metal one like the htc one that would be so awesome
