free overnight shipping announced - Nexus S General

Thanks to the people at best buy

If I order tomorrow morning, will it reach the place where I'm staying in Cleveland by Saturday? Cause I fly out Sunday morning, and I have a feeling that none of the Best Buys in Erie or Cleveland will have the Nexus S.
Another thing, do they deliver on a Saturday?

This is great news, I didn't know if I was going to be able to get it at my BB in the morning or not.

Thanks very helpful just in case they sell out!

Makes me happy in the event that my local Best Buy Mobile miraculously sells out.

Sweet! I'm not going to bother going to the store now because I am not guaranteed to get one if I do. I can live with my slow G1 a little while longer.

Is this real overnight? or one day, decicated processing, then overnight from there?

It should reach. But why risk it if have a store near by ? A friend of mine ordered camera lens. and delivery was stuck at place half an hour from the his place due to heavy snowfall eventually he got it on time. Anyways, ask for express delivery option.

hmm it says free overnight shipping, but it says click here for our shipping terms and all they have is 4-8 business days, 3 business days, or 2 business days. there is no mention of overnight :/ i hope it is overnight though, I wont be able to pick one up in store.

Excellent...thanks for the info. This is my back up plan.

If it is real overnight, then they would have to receive your order before a certain time (usually early afternoon). If they do receive it before that time, then it'll be there the next day.
I'm not sure about weekends though. I'm sure there's exceptions, but Saturday might count as a day for "overnight" shipping.

If you order early, then they should have it shipped out by the end of the day and you get the phone the next day. I'd assume people that opt for fast shipping would get the "speed processing" treatment compared to standard shipping orders.

Just got my X7501 from CompUSA on saturday. This thing is very cool. I'm going to use it everyday for the next week as a laptop replacement as I will be traveling on vacation from Florida to Minnesota and back for the holidays. I will be able to give it a good workout. I will be bringing my Tilt as back up though.
As a side note to anyone thinking about getting one of these, CompUsa is going out of business and everything is marked down 20 or more percent. That's why I went ahead and got the X7501. $719.99 plus tax.

Is this true for all compusa stores ?
If it is, I'm going out tomorrow to buy one !
AFAIK theye are going out of business nation wide, or at least thats what the guy there said to me. Here's the catch, no returns no refunds. The store here had 6-7 left and our sales tax is 7 percent so if anyone needs one let me know.
Figures, I bought mine full-fare at CompUsa 2 months ago. $950 including tax. Glad I didn't buy the extended warranty they were trying to shove down my throat.
Well, I got mine from CompUSA in August and did get the extended warranty. However, they have already posted what to do if you need the warranty after December and it appears to be insured and OK. I was sweating for a few weeks, though.

You should always speak to a manager. I was at a cusa one day last week and discussed the x7501. He was willing to match the Amazon price last Sept and would sell the tap plan for half off at that time. So attempt to negotiate. The deal last week was 20% off ($719)and he would add the tap for $100. I'm waiting for the 30% off deal, still had 4 on hand one being a demo. I'm planning to score the demo at 30-40% off unless someone else gets it. He said that he could likely make the next markdown by the end of this week. Good luck to all who score one before they are gone. This is one time where I'd likely take the tap plan just for screen and hd replacement.
I got mine yesterday in Delaware for $629. They have 2 left plus the Demo.
i ordered mine from mobileplanet.com for $629 at the beginning of the month...

Disappointing service from MobilePhonesDirect

This is just a warning to others thinking about using MobilePhonesDirect, They may seem cheap but they are pretty useless.
I pre-ordered my new HD2 from MobilePhonesDriect last over a week ago. They promised that they would have stock ready for dispatch on 12th Nov for delivery via Royal Mail special delivery before 1pm on 13th.
I ordered:
HTC HD2
18 Month @ £25pm
200mins, 200txt, unlim data.
Handset = £132
So I took the day off work today to wait around for it. Did it show? No of course it didn't
Now I look at their website and it says they have the HD2 in stock and if you order before 3pm you can get next day delivery. Also the handset price has gone down from £132 to £107 and they are throwing in a free 2GB micro SD card.
Hopefully I'll be able to cancel my pre-order and just reorder at the cheaper price. What is the point of taking pre-orders if you can't supply the customers. They'd even sent me a mail earlier in the week saying they had easily enough stock to supply all pre-orders.
Of course their customer service team isn't answering the phone and also not responding to emails. I feel very let down by this bunch of clowns. I was hoping to be playing with my new phone all weekend. Now I just have to be content with watching all the other people's videos on YouTube who did get theirs on time.
I actually recieved my hd2 from them today, but have to agree, their customer service is appalling.

You're one of the lucky ones.
I wouldn't particularly mind but they basically lied to me. I figured it would be just my luck not to catch the post today and maybe have to wait til monday. But they specifically said they had enough stock to fill all their pre-orders but after that other would probably have to wait til mid Dec for their phones.
That's why I pre-ordered.
Now they're saying they've got loads in stock and put the price down
Did you get a free 2GB card with yours?
What plan did you go for?
I had a 2 gb card, leather pouch on the combi 30 web n walk 18 month contract, free phone.
OK, so they must have heard me ranting.
I just got an email at 7pm on a Friday night saying that my phone has been dispatched. Fat lot of good that'll do me as they won't deliver on a Saturday so it'll be Monday when I get it but Tuesday before I can pick it up from the depot. I should have just held on and bought it today for the cheaper price. Grrrrr
Right, rant over, sorry folks.
Moral of the story. Be wary of promises that sound too good to be true.

Well, at least you have got your email. I got all excited when I had the in stock, deliver Friday or monday message. Couldn't get reponse by email or phone, shame I have people with me Sunday for the day and if they saw and tried it i reckon MFD would have seen a couple of orders.
No email saying despatched for me so I can only hope they will still be packing/posting tomorrow and there's still a chance for Monday.
As a matter of interest what's happened to your status on the site now you have had your despatched email?
It just says 'Status - Complete'.
I got this in an email at 18:52 13/11/19

Royal Mail do Special Delivery on Saturdays, don't they?
I think in this thread or a MPD one in the Leo forum it was said that in some areas the Post Office delivers on a Saturday but it's a bit hit and miss as to where - technically it's next "working day" and that normally means Monday to Friday.
They do but for a £2.50 additional charge. I doubt that MFD are going to shell out for that considering they only charged £3 P+P and the cheapest Special delivery charge is £4.95
My understanding is that they deliver Special Delivery on Saturday, its just not guaranteed unless you pay the extra, so more often than not a package will arrive on Saturday. But I'm probably wrong!
Well I won't hold my breath (but I will be crossing my fingers in hope)
Man, I need to get out more

Yep, I should get out more, and will once I can take my HD2 with me. :
10.04pm I received the "Your order has been dispatched message".
Peace now reigns.
Worde case is that it goes into the post tomorrow for monday delivery but I am holding out for their having got it in the post earlier but only updated the computer system late and there might be a slim chance for tomorrow. (The odds are better for that than they are for me to win the lottery).
At least they had their stock on the 12th - I have read some suppliers missed out and it's no chance for a phone before Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

That's another way to see what a mess of a company MPD is, you pre ordered a week ago and got despatched today but what me that ordered 16 of Oct so as every body can see they have a big mess
I can confirm 100%.
Hopefully it will (eventally) arrive ok and I'll never have to deal with them again. I go out of my way to avoid companies that provide such a pathetic level of "service". Had I known what an utter failure their part in this would have been, I would have waitied for someone else to have a T-Mo contract available for it.
Can't wait to see the last of these jokers.
can i play devils advocate?
Sometimes.. you will end up with a few delays but patience is the key here - and if it doesnt arrive on Monday then I would complain.. But in the meantime I wouldnt slag them off too harshly - its a pretty awesome phone so they will have had a busy few days.
Although you do have a point about the price dropping within the space of a week that certainly would get my goat.
i too have to wait till Monday for mine! worth the wait I hope.
I spoke to MobilePhonesDirect yesterday and was told that they had had a few problems with their system, owing to high demand.
Whether you believe this or not is up to you!
Where I live most parcels sent via special delivery on a Friday WILL arrive the next day, they just cannot guarantee it....and the assistant said it could well come tomorrow.
I ordered mine on Tuesday on the T-Mobile Combi 30 plan, 18 month.
As it happens I already have an HD2 anyway: It's a beautiful device, but to be honest I'm terribly disappointed with the keyboard, and being as typing is crucial to me as a textaholic I'm hoping that HTC will release an updated keyboard that behaves as well as that on the Hero.....for me this one just won't do, and i've been testing out some alternatives......but that's another story!

Just Ordered the EVO on the Sprint Website...

I checked the site at 9 PM PDT, and sure enough, the EVO was on my upgrade list. So, I went ahead and ordered. Since I'm Premier and ordered online, I got the activation fee waived and the price of the phone billed to my account. I imagine I won't see it for a week or so, even though I got free overnight shipping. Oh well, I live out in the sticks anyway, with no Sprint/Radio Shack/WalMart for 50 miles.
Cheers!
I did the same about an hour ago. I hope this phone makes it here by Saturday. If not, then I will be more than ready for it on Monday.

Who's paying next day air?

Google Play offers other forms of shipment rates right? If they offer other shipping rates, I'm definitely going to be paying extra. How much do you think it's going to be for around a 1-2lb package?
I think about 30 :d. And I gonna do that
If the option is available and doesn't take a huge chunk of money ill be doing the same & ordering 2! Ohh this been a long 2 weeks without a phone!
If i don't get it before the weekend, I might... Also, as long as the price isn't outrageous..
isnt this next day air only available if you're ordering from the USA? just asking, because im in australia and im not sure if theyll be able to do next day air :/
I'm not seeing any shipping options for the N7 when purchasing through the play store, I think they only offer UPS 2 day.
And it says, delivered in 3-5 business days, by the way. So, if we are lucky, we'll get it by the weekend. AndroidPolice had an article saying we may get it shipped same day.

When I called the rep, they said there is ONLY UPS 2 Day shipping for $13.99. I don't think there is any overnight. But the earliest would be Thursday and latest Monday is what they told me based on the number you are on the list of the orders.
I have a huge problem with waiting for devices like this, I've literally been counting hours of today until it even starts selling, but are you guys honestly paying an extra 10-15 dollars to get it a day or two earlier?

The United States is a bit larger in area than the United Kingdom. A truck would take about 3 days to get from California to New York. To get around this, our major shippers (UPS, FedEx, and USPS) each have large fleets of cargo planes that transport packages across the country. Usually they use a hub-and-spoke system where all of the planes fly into a central hub, which redistributes the packages from their arrival flights to their destination flights. From their destination airports, the packages are then loaded into trucks that now have a much shorter distance to drive. The total process takes between 2-5 days, and you can pay extra to make sure it arrives sooner. There are also direct flights between all major cities, and for an even larger extra fee, you can usually ensure that your package is on one of them, so that you can receive it the day after it is sent (next day air).
Many online shippers (Amazon in particular, and apparently Google's new US distributor) have their major warehouses located in or near Louisville, Kentucky or Memphis, Tennessee, as Louisville is where the US UPS hub is located, and Memphis is where the FedEx hub is located. This can greatly improve shipping speed while lowering shipping cost, as they can cut one of the flights completely out of the process while still using the cheaper hub-and-spoke system.
Google does not have next day delivery atm they only have two day shipping.

Does Google Play include Saturday delivery?

UPS 2nd Day Air has an option for saturday deliveries, it may or may not be extra, I know Amazon Prime does it and they use UPS 2 day.
Anyone know if UPS included saturday delivery with all 2 day orders now? Their website makes it seem like its an add-on charge but they dont explicitly say it is.
If it isnt included in all 2 day shipping then does anyone know if Play uses saturday delivery?
Someone please say yes...
usually during holiday season all 2nd day shipping has the saturday option, so possibly. however, i doubt it.

Well they charged $14, which is a completely ridiculous price in the first place. Amazon gives you saturday delivery for a fraction of that (or included with Prime).
I cant believe they are going to ship on thursday and not include saturday delivery. This is absolute incompetence. 6 day shipping for $14... un f***ing believable.
They should be busting their asses to get these things shipping tonight if they are going to charge that much and not do saturday delivery. Whose dumbass idea was it to ship on the day that would take longest possible shipping time?

What did google do?
This is getting annoying. "Google screwed us when we were ordering" "Google screwed us when shipping" "Google screwed us with packaging" "google screwed us with 30 units available"
Google didn't screw anyone. The only thing that close was the ordering system. They should have had a pre order.
Shipping. Do you think its easy to ship out probably 10 000 units in 2 days? Shipping is UPS side. Google has nothing to do with shipping. If you want it so bad. Get it from TMO or any place that sells it retail. That way you have it in your hands the second you pay for it.
This is why we can't have nice things. People complains and points fingers when nothing is wrong. Just because they are excited.
You waited for least 2 weeks now. Another week isn't going to ruin your life.

Well there you go, a simple pre order would of been enough to help us out and Google didn't do that so yes they screwed us on this one. At least they should have the common decency to give us Saturday shipping or have it listed as an option. But i understand that maybe UPS fault? But still not even preorders were offered .
10,000 units in 2days is trouble some to ship, but from what i have heard, no ones N4 has been shipped yet not even one. (at least in the U.S)

$14 for shipping is cheap. Move to canada.
Anything you buy from the states is almost least $20 for 2 weeks delivery time. That's for something that weights a pound. I paid $100 to ship a turbo over from the states to canada. That took 2 weeks. It cost a dealer about $1500 to ship a car. And i'm paying $100 to ship a turbo that weights maybe 15lbs. Both takes about the same time to deliver. That's ridiculous.
Just because companies spoils you with free shipping doesn't mean its ridiculous for another to charge. N4 is stupid cheap as it is. Just be wait.
Unless you are willing to ship something for free and with saturday delivery, don't complain.
It depends to be honest. If you need it sat, my suggestion is to track it. If the phone is in a local distribution center, call them and arrange a pick up

yeah I agree they should have had an option for saturday but think about it from google's POV.
They have a ton of unit to ship and mistakes will happen if they don't keep things simple.
Google isn't a hardware complain, They are a search engine, advertising and software company. So they could only have 100 warehouse workers trying to get everything out vs apple with 1000 (made up number) so its easier for them and have lessen the chance of a mistake. Or shipping the saturday ones with regular shipping times.
Who compares shipping to Amazon? Seriously. Amazon sends a million shipments a day. They have their own carrier distribution facilities. Amazon is in a league of their own with shipping so don't expect other companies to live up to their level.

So because you pay international shipping rates it makes sense to charge international rates for domestic shipping as well? If anything that makes the shipping price even more absurd.
Stop acting like Google is some mom and pop company, they are one of the richest companies in the world and have been shipping phones out of Play for the past year with multiple warehouses, they do not pay full price for shipping like we do because they ship thousands of products a month and get bulk discounts like every other retailer. Ive gotten far better and cheaper service from Ebay stores than I have from Play, and they have to pay full price for shipping.
The poor service would be much easier to swallow if they didnt charge far more in shipping than any other retailer on the internet.
