Fm radio - Desire HD General

Can the fm radio become a fm transmitter? Dumb question I know.

Hardware wise there is no reason why not but the software doesn't exist.

Another question here, Why can not we use the Fm Radio without headset? Does not this phone have an antenna for Radio?
It's so annoying because I am using a bluetooth headset and Desire HD insistently asks for wired headset for signal.

FM antena
Hi, I think that this is a usual think that mobile phones doesn't have a FM antennas built in. It uses your headphone wire as the antenna.

Exactly. FM transmission is using wavelength of about 3 meters, so the antenna should be much bigger than the phone itself to give you a good reception. You can try to fabricate something out of a 3.5 mm jack and a wire, but the results will be more than doubtful. And in top of that the phone will most probably recognize it as a headphones set, so you'll have to route the sound to your BT headset, not the antenna.

Even though we manage to establish a antenna as you said the phone directly gives the sound to it and unfortunately eliminates the bluetooth sound transfer. It's really really annoying.
Briefly you can not listen to Fm Radio with your bluetooth headset, you have to use a wired headset.

Hello dr.m0x, merry christmas,
not only the antenna is quite different for fm radio, the complete transmitting hardware needs a different part of hf amplifier for fm frequencies. Software doesn't help here.
The original headset seems to be optimized as fm antenna, tried another headset but fm radio had poor radio reception.

Additional info.
DHD's FM radio receptin quality is really poor compared to Sony Ericsson WM600 bluetooth headset (including radio).

FM-Transmitter

Hello,
Is there anyone that now if there is a program to X1 or any mobile that makes the mobile phone to an FM-transmitter?
Since there alot of technology like GPS, RDS cant that be done? Im very bad at this stuff and is very impressed by the programming persons that makes this stuff possible!!!!
Best regards John
i think its not possible cause it needs other hardware in the phone
Bluetooth is technically a form of FM radio, but I think you'd need some very advanced custom firmware to transmit analogue FM. In fact, some Bluettoth chips are also FM receivers. It's very low powered too, so you'd only get a few metres range from a transmitter. The chances of it being implemented seem very small.
But if you just want to transmit to your stereo, there are plenty of mini-jack to FM radio transmitters. They work best if there is line of sight between the transmitter and receiver.
... the Glofiish V900 has this function
the x1 doesnt have it, and i dont think it will. You can however search for an FM transmitter that will fit in the 3.5mm jack. these are sold in a lot of places and searching google yielded a lot of results. this is probably your best bet.

good day =)
transmitter == send
receiver == receive
transceiver == send and receiver
fm radios only have receivers
wifi/bluetooth are transceivers but only on 2.4Ghz Digtal signals using a spc. and only that protocol (it's how the hardware is made)
fm is from about from about 87.5 to 108.0 MHz analog
but this product
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=166893
will transmit any audio from any device which can send analog audio
to a 3.5mm minijack
to the fm band one set it to
i have one it works ok not HD audio quality of cause but works

FM Radio & Bluetooth

I have cause to use the FM radio but listen with a bluetooth A2DP headset. The bluetooth headset says it is connected for media and phone audio. However, the FM radio audio does not get redirected. How do I enable this? Is there an alternate FM radio app that will direct the sound to the bluetooth headset?
And before you guys jump on it, yes in fact there is a cable attached to the headphone jack for antenna. I just don't want to have to use a wired headphone to listen.
little background:
I like to listen to a particular radio station while I ride my bike. I also like to use my phone's GPS feature with a bicycle computer app while it is mounted to the stem on the bike. So it is terribly inconvenient to have a cable running from my ears to the phone while it is mounted on the bike. I built an antenna cable for the phone that connects to the stem cap bolt on the bike, using the bike's steel fork as an antenna. It works brilliantly with the phone's FM radio set to "Speaker", but when you set it to "headset", it doesn't redirect the sound to the bluetooth headset.
It seems too me that the phone is thinking (yes, thinking lol) that it has a headset plugged in and is trying too out put the audio via the headphone port... I kind of know how you feel because wires while riding a bike is quite cumbersome. It clearly seems like an overlooked problem, but most definitely can be fixed via software. I've been looking at bluetooth headsets for a while now, and this seems relavant to my interests... Good luck...

how to listen FM radio using a bluetooth headset on Android

Hi!
is there a way for that?
Thanks in advance...
You need a wired headset in order to listen to FM radio. the wire will work as antenna.
That's why a BT headset will never work for FM radio.

Only half true. Yes, wire works as antenna, but that doesnt mean that the radio will not get anything AT ALL without it. It's just gonna get like half of the available stations, some a little noisy may be. But it will work still. Especially true in urban areas where the signal is strong.
I speak from experience with my Sony Ericsson T715 which had exactly the same situation - FM radio which will only work if you have the headset plugged in. Turned out, simply changing a certain "1" to "0" in a certain file in the phone memory allowed the radio app to work without the headsets. Mind you, I never tried this hack, for certain reasons, but read more than enough feedbacks of it working.
Will not be surprised if it's simillar case wih HD2, where you just need to change a registry value under WinMo or some config file in Android.
is there somebody out there who can tell me how could I set it on Android...

For windows mobile, there is a program called btfm_radio.exe ... Or you can change the registry ... I can do something similar on Android?

there has to be masses willing to pay for this feature. come on developers.
for my situation i listen to my car radio and want any satnav voice instructions to interrupt the radio (just like a call does) and then resume to radio
or if the phone radio is enabled to bluetooth then i can listen to the phones radio over bluetooth and the satnav voice does talk over the radio
BUY a SonyEricsson MW600. It has it's own radio . It's not soo expensive as it was before when HBH-DS980 arrived...
Radio BT headset will just defeat the purpose of long-life battery. I cant find it any useful to charge my BT headset all the time
still looking for an answer :-(
1) Plug the earphones as antenna. It's needed if not you're not be able to receive any signal or will sound as hell.
2) Start the radio program
3) Route the audio to BT (try with a new app on the market named "Super BT Mono" which could route audio to bluetooth mono earpiece)

Did you find any apps for Android to listen to the build in FM Radio?
hehe, it can be tricky but not directly cuz the cable is an antenna for FM, BT headphone isn't

Ok, but I am just looking for an app to listen to FM Radio over the wired headset for a start. Any suggestions?
fm radio over blue tooth when using navigation software
So is there a solution?
I also would like to use the phone's fm radio over bluetooth so I can listen to music and have the navigation software interupt it when needed.
An internet radio is not an option. it stops all the time and is very exspensive in foreign countries.

fm transmitter for defy?

I travel a lot & use my tomtom for directions, to answer calls via BT and to transmit my mp3s to the car radio. I know that the defy has a built in fm radio but was wondering if anyone had seen an fm transmitter to suit the defy?

Kind of funny posting a reply to my own question but thought other ppl might be checking up on this.
I've found 2 possible ways to transmit audio from your defy to your car's fm radio.
1) using tunelink for android, this would work well, but costs US$100, this has just been released as far as i'm aware.
2) As per another forum post on xda, the defy has a built in fm transmitter, cool, so save ur US$100 and spend it on ur girlfriend!
I use the old Motorola T505 bluetooth speakerphone with FM transmitter for a long time now, and it has always worked flawlessly (currently paired with my WM phone). There are many of them for sale on eBay, much cheaper than Tunnelink's. However, if some cook out there figures out how to activate the Defy's FM transmitter, it will mean less gadgets (and chargers) to carry.
Regards,
Carlos
UPDATE: my old T505 is now paired with my new Defy, and it keeps working flawlessly, for both phone calls and music streaming to my car's radio.

same here, works fine, allow me to transmitt music and calls to the car fm
bought for 55$ on ebay
Unless I'm missing something here, the FM transmitter can be found in the Music App open it and click the radio icon at the botton of the home screen, you will need the headphones plugged in for the Fm radio to work.
this is the radio reciever
Sorry I miss read the post. Wasn't aware that the Defy had a FM transmitter. Had one for my iPod of awhile but didn't have much luck with it. There are to many FM stations in the area so finding a free freq is really had. The radios in my vehicles have the aux. jack so it's pretty easy with the patch cable. Don't know if it broadcast the phone that way though haven't tried it.
don't waste ur cash on an fm transmitter, my twin brother who has a defy has explained to me how to use bluetooth audio and I can now transmit the audio on my defy to my car radio via blue tooth, thanks PJ!

How did you set this up?
gday erra, pair ur phone with ur car radio making sure you select calls plus audio on the car radio side, then when ur phone is connected to ur car radio via this blue tooth link, when you play music on your mobile the car radio will play the music. your car will need to have blue tooth and also support blue tooth audio which I'm told is quite standard now, best to consult ur car's manual, good luck, it's awesome & clear as when u get it going, most important thing is to pair for calls & audio

it's nice to have our defy fm transmitter but i just don't like the fact that it only has 10 station presets ... we have around 20 here in the philippines ... but i really dont care that much barely tapping that radio button ...
I heard, that it works on Ipods from the new Generation...so perhaps you can look how they get it to work...
just to clear something up, the radio ur talking about is a fm receiver, the defy apparently has an fm transmitter on the phones board but no one can work out how to use it yet
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
i doubt it has also an antenna for the fm transmitter.
I just got a t505, have only tested calls and music so far. Took one minute to set up and works flawlessly, no static, very clear on my end, pretty clear to others on calls. It is an old car with only a radio/cassette and the sound is surprisingly good for music, cuts the treble out a bit but sounds much clearer than expected. I like the way it automatically finds the best station and tells you to tune to it. No regrets at all
Cheaper alternatives
I was also looking for same device. So I searched "fm transmitter" at dealextreme. It's cheaper than Motorola (the quality, though, may be lower).
Hold on dirtbaghh - you're saying that Defy can transmit on FM? That would be cool. Any more info??
the t505 is very usefull and freespech is included. top!

Does it have FM radio and stereo speakers?

Does it have FM radio and stereo speakers?
I think no FM Radio.
According to a article over at Anandtech - "USB Type-C port on the bottom has matching arrays of holes for the downward-firing speaker and microphone" - so I guess no stereo.

Hi!!
I'm looking around for a decent phone with FM Radio... everyday it's harder to find
I've discarted Oneplus, Mi 5, Huawei... they discard FM option then I discard their phones.
So you confirm 100% that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (383€/$ now at Gearbest) has FM Radio? (real broadcast radio, not internet or online radio stations!)
Thank you!!
Well, I have the international edition and no FM radio. Sound is good but it is a mono device. Basically if you have a phone which can do 'FM radio' without the phones plugged in.. It will be streaming over 4g or 3g
Can somebody make a mod for stereo speakers like the one we have on mi 5?
