Buying a DVP actually at T-Mobile? - Venue Pro General

Ok.. I am thinking, before placing my order again for the umpteenth time at Dell, since I am coming all the way to the States to get it anyway, does anyone have any info on when/if they'll actually BE at a T-Mobile store? has anyone asked? since they'll have the damn T-Mobile logo on them aaaaanyway...
Christ Dell, you fricking suck.

I'm 99% sure you can only get them from a Microsoft store or Dell. Plus some online retailers like Expansys in the future.

Probably not going to be in T-Mobile stores. They don't suck , you have an unusual request. My company won't ship out of country or to forwarding services either.

It's not even a forwarding issue anymore. I am even agreeing to physically come to the States to take delivery/sign for it with US details for everything and they are rejecting the order. Having to wait to actually talk to staff on Monday, but right now I think I may have no choice but to get a Focus if Monday is a snafu.
Anyway I think at this point all their dates are BS, i would be highly surprised if they actually do ship anything out on the 13th-14th

Haha, well if you like this phone so much that you are agreeing to come to the states to get it then I think they should just give you one for free for being a hell of a customer. Hopefully they get everything out on time I took off of work a couple hours early in anticipation.

T-Mobile are the ones who decide what's carried in their stores, not Dell. Dell had no problems supplying it to MS stores so it would appear you are angry at the wrong company. Better to wait till stock is abundant, fly to a city with an MS store so you can physically get the device and purchase it from them.

LOL it's actually not that big of a deal, it's $30-100 bus ride for me depending on how far I go to do it. I figured the customs + fedex would be at least that much and this way I'd eliminate time and uncertainty but yeah, Dell seems to be terminating at extreme and unusual prejudice and if they don't want a sale they don't want a sale. Just don't blame mexicans or whoever for the faltering economy when you leave money on the table like this.

This wont help this thread but I actually went into a T-mobile store yesterday and was asking the rep a few questions about their network. Those reps in the store cant wait for me to get my DVP so they can play with with it when i come in to activate my service. I had several reps tell me that the phone looks awesome, and this is oming from Android users

Anyone Pre-Order from Rogers?

Just a question for all of those people who pre-ordered online at Rogers.com. When you finish pre-ordering, you should have gotten a confirmation email. Did you get any other emails like a shipping with a tracking number?
I got the confirmation email and that's it. I was just wondering if others is the same as me.
Thanks
Yeah I preordered on april 6. Got a confirmation number in an email right away. I called today and so far no tracking numbers are available. I am waiting till dinner time and Im going to try again. I just want this phone so bad
How did you order it? Every time I try to port my number from Fido it gives me an error. Rogers gives me some BS on the phone and I give up. I think they are goign to show up in the stores on Friday but noone knows. Total bloody incompetence with Rogers once again.

Im adding a line instead of porting over (and keeping the second line to shorten the time between upgrades) but a rep told me you could preorder now and finish up the port after you get the phone. BUT beware Rogers reps are full of bs and you will get different answers everytime you call.
Yea, the rep told me to pre-order with a new number and when I get the phone, phone them and do the port over then.
It just bothers me that there is a possibility of getting the phone AFTER it launches (April 15, 2010). If so, then what's the point of me pre-ordering other than getting the bt headset for free.

What?? If I get it after the 15th I am going to s**t bricks. And people are dissappointed with SE's delays. Its seems like a match made in heaven SE and Rogers lol.
PS: did you see the fine print? Your going to have to wait an additional 2-4 weeks for delivery of the headset.
Sou you get the bluetooth only if you preorder?
And only before April 15?
Yea well HOPEFULLY we all get it ON or BEFORE the 15th. Anyday after that would be stupid. The Rogers stores will probably have it on the 15th since I read some article stating that the phone is shipping to stores. If that's the case, that means even though we preordered, we won't be the first ones to get it =(
Hopefully we get the tracking number soon....
Well, at least you will get the bluetooth for free which means around 70$ saved
I talked to a store today in Calgary here that had a rep in at the time and they said the phones were in shipment right now to the stores for Friday (as stated before). I would rather order it online for the headset but am worried about a delay. You would think you would get it SOONER that way, especially considering they said order it by the 9th for delivery on the 12th LOL. Oh Rogers.
I talked to one of the rep at rogers and they told me they are getting it next month O_O
lol that's totally wrong..
But yea.. I guess the idea of pre-ordering is so that you WILL get it on launch day at least.

Haha, this is good ... for me at least ... i'll have time to decide if is worth to pay 550 + tax to get it.
So I just spoke with a supervisor and he said that he promised me it would be in my hands by this friday. I asked him why I would preorder just so I could get it after everyone else. He responded that for preordering we are getting a $10 activation credit and the headset for free and locking in a "supposedly" better price. And they also said I would get emailed a tracking number as soon as its available. Got my fingers crossed it comes this week!
nice! thanks gavriel18 for the update!
Got a question for you guys again. When you preordered, it asks how you want to ship. It gives you 3 options:
Canada Post
UPS
Saturday service
Which one did you pick? I chose UPS.
lucky for you guys , i dont think i can preorder cause im doing hardware upgrade( only able to do hardware after april 15 ) o_o.. Hmm i should try calling and see what they can do
No prob Tri3dent, I think we're all squirming to get this phone.
And azn youre the lucky one because youre probably going to get your phone first even though I ordered mine within 24 hours of the preorder site going up.
Hey guys, just called into Rogers and they already have the tracking number in their systems. I still haven't received my tracking EMAIL but I do have the tracking number. I will be getting it tomorrow!
Nice what day did you place the order? I didnt get the email yet but Im calling now. Thank you for the update!!
Hey gavriel18, I placed my order on the same day as you. Your phone should be on your way now!

Need help and advice!

I ordered my hd2 through tmobile customer service on april 26th,was told by the rep that they was in stock as i double checked through their website to upgrade and they was in stock, placed the order and had a scheduled delivery date for this wednesday.Today i called themsince i still havent received a tracking number, they tell me the order is still pending, after arguing with 2 reresentatives about how can i have a scheduled date for this wednesday if its still pending they finally say the phone has been backordered since april 20th. now my beef is how can you make an order on a phone that you dont even have in stock yet let alone tell a customer that they are in stock.so i speak to a supervisor who tells me the exact same things and just recommends to check stores to see if they have in stock and buy it there. I dont know what to do, im thinking on trying to start a class action lawsuit or something cause tmobile shouldnt be able to treat their customers like this and get away with it. I came here for advice and always look to this forum for help so please those of you who like to post useless comments and try to bash me or make a joke please dont post at all. Thanks in advance, sorry about the paragraph of writing lol!

I can't give you legal advice here, but I can tell you that if you are speaking to a rep on the phone or in a store and you mention "Lawyer" they will most likely terminate the conversation and give you a number to their legal department. Corporations these days are not in the least concerned about potential lawsuits, since they are themselves probably suing a few dozen companies at the time anyway
Do you have any proof (other than your expense receipt) that the rep told you they were "in stock"?
At Sears, we were told three years ago to start saying "We have it in stock" if it was at a warehouse, even if that warehouse was on the other side of the country. It became such an issue that employees were actually banned from saying the words "We don't have that in stock". Most customers didn't realize that it would be a month or sometimes more before they got their larger appliances until they reached the register. Of course, once they were given a delivery date, they were given that date in writing and could use that to either get their money back or get a portion of the purchase price back if a mistake in the inventory had been made.
Understand that T-Mobile has absolutely no control over the availability of any given handset. Even the "T-Mobile" branded phones are manufactured by other companies and these companies have their own schedules. But once a representative gives you a definitive date for either shipment or delivery, they have made a promise and as a matter of tort must honor that or offer you an alternative. Whether or not you accept that alternative is up to you, but if you were not offered it, then you have a case.
I certainly am sympathetic with you. I absolutely hate dealing with an individual who represents a company and makes promises that company can not or will not keep. As they say, this is why get everything in writing.
snark thanks for the support,i"ve calmed down a little since earlier,my girl helped out with that lol. Its great to hear that from you though and i dont have proof of the lady saying its in stock even though she did its proof that matters and to tell you the truth i know they really dont care to hear it,thats the part the kills me, i know someone high up from tmobile will care about this and losing a loyal 6 year customer but hey like you said what can i really do i guess i'll just keep the order so when they get more i'll be in line to get them and while im waiting just keep checking stores. Again thanks for the support,it's people like you that make this great forum what it is.

June 19th info!

Just in case you really need to know. June 19th is when tmo anounces the slide through commercials and they r having a father's day special event they r going to announce too. Not as big a deal as everyone thinks.
So why are they opening 2 hours early, and where the heck is my froyo, tmo rep told mewe'de have it on launch,I need apps2sd,my phone is outta storage,i'm going to curse someone at tmobile out.htc and google should have never let tmobile have any say in this device cause they oveloaded it with bull**** you cant delete,im so friggin angry,I just want control over my phone and nobody can even root it,AGGGHHHHH!!! Sorry just had to get that out.
I think you've let it out in everyone of your post in the Slide section.. I'm sure your 14 day return period isn't up. RETURN IT.
A friend of mine who works for TMO told me that they are rolling out a new store design. They've had several of the concept stores open in certain test markets for almost 3 years. I worked for them when they were planning these interactive and user friendly stores with video tech support on site.
While I think it's cool and all, I'm more interested in them improving network service and offering phones that aren't outdated the moment you slip your SIM in.

Dispite contrary belief, not all T-Mo reps know every single thing that T-mobile is up to. Some of us actualy have a life outside of work. Also, we are not all out to give everyone the shaft. Some of us realy try to help people the best we can. I get chewed out quiet often for going "too far".

As donepate stated, you are speaking to another human, NOT T-mobile as an object. If that rep heard a rumor online he could have easily passed it along to you. Thats why unless there is OFFICIAL news from T-mobile you should always take information about upcoming releases of updates/phones with a grain of salt. Typically T-mobile employees know about the official launches barely before they launch to avoid any leaked information and or upsets if deadlines aren't met.
If you've read the official HTC comments however you will know that its stated to have FROYO within a number of 2010 Android phones within the year of 2010. That is as specific as it gets however.

Official release date for the slide is the 16th. They have not even told the reps much. It could be lower prices for a day, a giveaway in the stores, or the planets may be comming into alignment. Its all guesses for now. I am fairley sure that its slide related in some way though. Just have no idea what it is. If I get any info i'll pass it along.

I believe the buyers remorse period will still be 14 days. That's what I am getting.
I keep reading "Official" release date is the 19th, but I simply walked up to my local store and bought it last week... are you using the term "officially" as a moment to define when they'll "advertise" it...?
They have a soft launch (June 2nd) and a hard launch which, shown to me on the computer from a t-mobile rep, is the 16th not 19th
According to TmoNews.com it's going to be a Father's Day sale with all phones free
They are going to announce the Galaxy S on the 19th. The Galaxy S will go on sale sometime in July ... just got that from a VERY reliable Tmobile source. I'm probably going to be sending the slide back ... my G1 will tide me over till the Galaxy comes around.

Tmobile Credit

Might be inappropriate in this forum, if so I apologize. But if you are posting to 'Samsung Vibrant General', then you have Tmobile...
I called TMO again asking for any update regarding the GPS bug, they gave me the same old script.
I asked if there was anything they could do to credit or compensate my account for the lack of functionality.
I was put on hold for 1 minute and then was given a $20 statement credit.
Maybe if they have to dish out plenty of those, they'll also get on Samsung's back harder.
Good Luck.
bugging tmob and asking for credits does nothing to help with fixing the gps problem, especially since they have pretty much nothing to do with the issue. if you don't like the phone or can't live without gps, return it until it's fixed.
What lack of functionality? GPS?

They notate this stuff on your account so I hope you use your freebies wisely. People getting credits in other threads won't have much leeway when they're asking for a 1 year upgrade or anything else. It really does nothing. Complaining does more than asking for a bill credit.

if your blu ray player stops working do you call your cable company and ask for a credit to your bill?

On a phone released by t-mobile ... money is money i don't care who is at fault the fact is t-mobile can get you something for your trouble now. I did this as well over a week ago. Nice move
If you don't think this is such a bright idea because its Samsungs problem well I guess you don't like free money off your bill; who cares where the blame is if either of them are giving something for the troubles I suggest we do it.
Anyone get somewhere with Samsung? I highly doubt it but would love to know if they are offering anything up for the GPS issue.

what makes you think this is free money? for every credit tmob gives for an invalid reason (like gps not working on a phone that tmobile doesn't make), that delays things like hspa+ expansion, getting more and better phones available, etc. not to mention the fact that a bunch of people calling and asking for this credit is going to make a lot of customer care reps miserable, at least that was my experience when i worked customer care for tmob years ago.
if you are so unhappy with the phone, return it. but as far as tmob goes, you are receiving all the services you are paying them for with this phone.

I'm happy with my phone and personally I never use the GPS for anything hense why i don't really care.
Here is my point and i will shut up. We have these phones there is a "problem" and t-mobile can give you "something" for your troubles. i suggest you take it. Tmobo reps are there to serve I don't care if I bug them its there job. Its not like the CS reps are the developers for Samsung when we aren't calling. Plus this doesn't hinder the development in fact its the opposite they actually will press Samsung in the future for a better product as well as increase there testing of said product.
At least in theory.
my two cents
JTHM for life
so i take it when you get your credit card bills, you ask the post office to pay part of it since the mail did not make you happy and they delivered it?
or when you buy clothing that tears up early or has some bad material etc, do you go to the store and ask for money.
you either take it back or you keep it, outside of that there is nothing else they will do. If you bug tmobo reps over something they or tmobile has control over that is one thing. Do you thing tmo just said, "hey samsung, release a defective item, we dont care".
and when you say tmobile can give you "something", thats really liberal, they didnt say, for your troubles take this, you said "for my troubles i want this". big difference

I'm not coming back to this topic again and I know the person I quoted isn't coming back either, but I just had to say this.
Look at what is in bold in the quote. T-Mobile isn't giving us "something" for our troubles. You, or the OP(whomever it is), is "asking" for credit. If T-Mobile offered me free credit, then hell yeah I'll take it, but I'm not going to ask for credit unless it's appropriate. For example, the stupid salesman at the T-Mo store didn't charge me $249 for the phone like they were suppose to, so I had to ask for a $15 credit, which I deserve since they promised me a full upgrade price.
If I was having issues with the phone, I would just return it for a refund and then rebuy it when it's fixed or a better phone comes out.
That's it, bye.
true i agree on that money is money
i have had any problems with GPS so far, but i had also did the fixes that was available, so far it works great, but money is money and if their is a way i can get something off my bill from my service provider whether its there fault or not i will do that.

you're right and you're wrong and heres why... Cell service carriers are ultimately responsible for the phones used on their network since they are the ones who limit our choices of models in the first place. If Tmo didnt require its users to choose from a list of cell phones they authorize then I wouldnt hold them accountable for them, but since they do i expect them to have fully researched and tested all models that they impress upon us to buy. If I could buy my phone directly from the manufacturer and choose my service provider from there then I would only hold the manufacturer responsible. I understand the difficulty GSM CDMA TDMA and varying network bands but this is the situation the carriers have gotten themselves into due to competing strategies. If t mobile is willing to issue these credits to then i can only assume that they understand this as well. and since applications like google maps latitude navigation and telenav all require GPS and a data connection to send back and forth i would have to disagree with you again that i am in fact not receiving all the services i am paying them for with this phone. each of these are bundled in the 95% functional phone that t mobile sold me and each of these are why i pay $30 every month to tmo for my data plan
In all Honesty O have been with TMO for 8 years and they have always been fair with me. the last thing they did for me which they were in noway responsible or have to do, was to help me with the HD2. I was trying to get this phone from Walmart for 50, because that was a walmart sell. After 2 days walmart totally screwed up my account and wouldn't sell me the phone. TMO straightened everything out and sent me the HD2 for $50.
Now if you feel that TMO is at fault for the GPS sure call them and get the $20
But have you tried getting into the GPS menu and enabling Skyhook? This works fantastically
*#*#1472365#*#*
Application Settings
Use Skyhook = ON
Back out of the menu
As for getting a credit from the cable company for the faulty box I can guarantee you that if it was a problem from the manufacturer with every box they wouldn't credit you, but wait for a firmware update.
IMO TMO should do the same. this is a samsung problem since other phones have no problems with GPS on TMO's Network

T-Mobile: GPS Fix 9/18/2010 for Vibrant Over the Air !!

Pro tip: T-mobile reps or any rep for that matter, will in fact tell you anything to get you to shut up. So I wouldn't be to surprised if this was all just B.S. to get that guy off the phone. But if it is pushed the 18th that would be great just don't get your hopes up.
just because some guy spoke to a rep from t-mo doesn't mean jacks**t, pardon my french. they're trained to tell people what they want to here, and NO SERVICE REP has any more information than you or I. All we can, do is wait and hope sammy comes through with an update, which has been leaked already, but is still only eclair (2.1). So froyo still remains elusive, at best.
I'm a cust care/tech 1 rep for t-mo and I haven't heard/seen anything about this. If I remember when I'm at work tomorrow then I'll call up to tech 2 and see what they know. They usually know about the update type stuff before us lowly tier 1's.
I'm a T-mobile retail rep. A lot of times I get my news from XDA and other sources way before I get it officially from work sources. And no I haven't heard anything yet.
You really dont think a Tmo store rep would lie about this - do you ???????
I'm sure the reps are saying that the T959UVJI2 will be available OTA in 9/18/2010
REPS are trained to LIE!
Truth is that there is a huge disconnect between the people who work in the retail outlets, and the people who handle telephone support issues, and the people who develop software, and the people who purchase the hardware, and the people who... well, I think you get the idea. But in the end they all have the same goal - selling their product. So yeah, while they are disconnected from each other, they will still say whatever it takes to keep pushing product - including phones and service.
True story - In February I bought a Samsung Behold II phone for my wife and extended the contract on her line for 2yrs. - 6 months later the phone still was on Android 1.5 with endless promises of an update from store clerks, telephone support agents, harware manufacturers, etc. that were never fulfilled. I spoke at length with TMO agents about getting a replacement phone, or any kind of relief on an upgrade in the form of an upgrade credit at the very least - they wouldn't budge and my wife was stuck with a phone she hated. As a last resort I emailed the CEO of TMO and I emailed the Executive Response team - within 4 hours someone called me at my home, listened to my complaint, and get this: They took my wifes line out of her remaining 18 month contractual obligation! That guy pushed a button and made 18 months of contract just go away.
I think that what I'm trying to say is - if you want real answers and real results, contact the TMO Executive Response team. ([email protected])
OR....
Get a phone you're happy with AS IS WHEN YOU BUY IT
it's not rocket science...jesus
you have a couple weeks to try out the phone
I'm seriously trying to figure out how and why this belongs in the DEVELOPMENT forum?
Mods, a little help? Can we get a second "report button" but maybe it can be something fun and funny at the same time, like "report use that clearly can't read which forum they're posting in" button?
Cheers,
=)

I knew they're lying ! How it's possible to release a fix a week before another fix which will address the first one !!? makes no sense !
