Possibilty... first week of Dec. - Venue Pro General

We all have heard many speculation dates of the release of DVP. But I think i remember someone saying something about them possibly releasing the DVP the first week of December. Hopefully its between Dec1-4 because I will be out of the country for about a week after the 4th. Dell is suppose to call me when the DVP is availble for purchase sure hope its not when im on my cruise.

To be honest, one week is all I will give Dell now. At least they should have made an announcement, that's not a good way to treat customers. If it's not realised/dated by the end of next week I'll go and get the HD7 or Omnia 7 .

I sure hope so. After all the wait I really thought hey, they will release it on black Friday ( US) biggest shopping day but nothing. They really made a mess of this. I truly wish another company would release a portrait slide and take all the customers. Dell doesn't deserve it. The form factor is highly desirable hence So many of us continue to wait.

just read a thread over on direct2dell saying the dell team is going to overlook some more issues this coming monday. so im not expecting this device to release for the next 2-3 weeks, which sucks. im not getting an hd7. so i figure i wait till they get these issues fixed.

Do you have a link? Because the last thread I can find regarding the DVP, was the one from like a week or so ago saying they're looking into issues.

Though I kind of doubt it, since we probably would have gotten an email from Dell by now (for those who signed up for it).

I dont think we will get any reply from dell till its actually released

I have been playing with the DELL VENUE PRO almost every day I worked. They setup a kiosk at Orland Mall in Orland Park, IL about 2 weeks ago. I asked them for a release date then & they said 1st week of December.
Like I said in the other thread, I ****ing LOVE the phone, ****s amazing.

well if thats true, im definately looking forward for the release, only thing that sucks is that I will be on a cruise the first week of December. Hopefully I can order it online in the internet cafe on the boat. I will be checking everyday on my cruise to see if they released it.

now when they said the 1st week of December was this before or after the sim card issue

I just talked to the local MS store here and they said they knew they were getting them again but did not know if it would be before Christmas or after the first of the year. Since the ISM card issue they have not heard anything at all from Dell about the phone.
Not the best of news for getting it soon but hopefully Dell is taking the time to get it right before sending out any more units.

Truth, they cant afford anymore mishaps at this time, to many people riding on DVP. People want a diffrent device and the DVP is the one.
But all I have is time and im going to wait to see what the DVP is about or what Sprint has to offer

Dell Streak On US. PreSale now Active

This morning I received an email form Dell. The Pre-sale stars today. Prices are $299.99 w/ contract, and $549.99 without contract.
I still haven't gotten my e-mail from them yet

Received my mail about 9:30 am eastern and made my purchase. Bought both of the cases. I will probably end up selling the leather one if I like the other one, but who knows. Didn't buy any SD cards. I think I can buy one in a store for less.
This is my second Streak. Bought one of the Beta Give-Away units. Got nervous that there would be a problem updating .. who knows .. SOLD IT .. and now I bought this one. When there was that initial scare a few days ago that the Betas stopped working I felt HORRIBLE for the person I sold mine to. I don't know if it was a hoax or a temporary thing but haven't heard any more ..

Nobody at Dell can say if this Streak is the same as the Beta Streak. My Beta didn't get 3G but I could use my T-Mobile sim. Looks like the exact same specs as my Beta .. I should get an Edge connection, right? I talked to a dozen people that said they didn't know. One person said "maybe." but the WORST OF ALL THE AGENTS was someone in "Mobile Services." Shaquallar was HER name.
When we first started talking she had NO IDEA that the AT&T had the contract. I repeated myself over and over .. that AT&T is the provider and she would say, "It is not known who the provider is going to be."
Figuring she wasn't the brightest bulb and asked for her supervisor. He REFUSED to come to the phone. It was like pulling teeth, but I got that his name is Jeremy and he FLAT OUT REFUSED and the agent was CLUELESS about EVERYTHING ..
I have a question though. When you ordered your phone, did the website require that you sign with AT&T at the time of purchase? Other wise, what did I get for my additional $300? It doesn't matter, I am sending it right back.

Nope. The streak is locked to AT&T for now. A T-mobile sim will not work at all.

T-Mobile: GPS Fix 9/18/2010 for Vibrant Over the Air !!

Hi,
I was surfing in T-Mobile fourms and one of the members said that he went to T-Mobile and fought with them regarding the problems in GPS and demanded them to replace his Vibrant or give his money back and they told him that a GPS fix will be roller over the Air on 9/18/2010 !
Everybody will get it OTA expect me and I have to wait for someone to post the fix in the Internet !

Pro tip: T-mobile reps or any rep for that matter, will in fact tell you anything to get you to shut up. So I wouldn't be to surprised if this was all just B.S. to get that guy off the phone. But if it is pushed the 18th that would be great just don't get your hopes up.
just because some guy spoke to a rep from t-mo doesn't mean jacks**t, pardon my french. they're trained to tell people what they want to here, and NO SERVICE REP has any more information than you or I. All we can, do is wait and hope sammy comes through with an update, which has been leaked already, but is still only eclair (2.1). So froyo still remains elusive, at best.
I'm a cust care/tech 1 rep for t-mo and I haven't heard/seen anything about this. If I remember when I'm at work tomorrow then I'll call up to tech 2 and see what they know. They usually know about the update type stuff before us lowly tier 1's.
I'm a T-mobile retail rep. A lot of times I get my news from XDA and other sources way before I get it officially from work sources. And no I haven't heard anything yet.

REPS are trained to LIE!
Truth is that there is a huge disconnect between the people who work in the retail outlets, and the people who handle telephone support issues, and the people who develop software, and the people who purchase the hardware, and the people who... well, I think you get the idea. But in the end they all have the same goal - selling their product. So yeah, while they are disconnected from each other, they will still say whatever it takes to keep pushing product - including phones and service.
True story - In February I bought a Samsung Behold II phone for my wife and extended the contract on her line for 2yrs. - 6 months later the phone still was on Android 1.5 with endless promises of an update from store clerks, telephone support agents, harware manufacturers, etc. that were never fulfilled. I spoke at length with TMO agents about getting a replacement phone, or any kind of relief on an upgrade in the form of an upgrade credit at the very least - they wouldn't budge and my wife was stuck with a phone she hated. As a last resort I emailed the CEO of TMO and I emailed the Executive Response team - within 4 hours someone called me at my home, listened to my complaint, and get this: They took my wifes line out of her remaining 18 month contractual obligation! That guy pushed a button and made 18 months of contract just go away.
I think that what I'm trying to say is - if you want real answers and real results, contact the TMO Executive Response team. ([email protected])

As an assistant manager for a corp store. i hate to say but Genesis is completely right. some of our reps dont care and will say anything. Not to mention the scum that is indirect reps. and smerff. i have not seen anything on streamline yet nor has my ITA rep.

Anyone receive their Atrix yet?

I got a call from At&T about a problem porting my number from Verizon (yes I am making the switch back). I mentioned they could not port yet as I don't have a phone because it is on pre-order. Cust Service said that I would be receiving it in a couple of days. I got the call yesterday so i am hoping to have my shiny new Atrix tomorrow or the next day.
Could be Cust Service has no idea what they are talking about but you can only hope
If that is the case I might pre order through att instead of best buy then...

Hello everyone. I'm new to this section of XDA - I've had a Captivate for some time (4 of them actually) and have been quite dissapointed at times with it. Overall a great phone, but lots of un-necessary issues (imo) I just pre-ordered the Atrix 4G today and was told I could recieve it within the next 7-10 days at the soonest... I really cant wait to see what the devs here on XDA will cook up for this killer phone (based on specs). If the dev support is anything at all like it is for the Captivate - this is gonna be a great ride with the Atrix 4G
I am hoping we get alot of captivate devs to switch. I know there is a good chance that the bootloader will be encrypted, and that might keep the ROM chefs away, but I really hope we find away around it. i am going to be submitting as much of my capabilities to the effort, but I am new to android. I have done a small amount of program development on iOS with jailbreaks. so hopefully I can help.
Also, as I have said before, Devs are the lifeblood of these phones, and I am willing to put my money out there as a substitute for my experience. I am willing to help any motivated devs by donating $20-$40. Hopefully we can get a rich community surrounding the phone. that way when i am still using it 18 months down the road, I will still be happy with it.
I didn't get that email at all and I preordered on Sunday morning when the preorder option first popped up. I did get my confirmation email right after preordering and another email today ( 17th) , but not the one you have. Am I still going to get my atrix on the 22nd? Or did something get messed up?

i called att and they said that everyone that pre-ordered the phone will get it on monday the 21st. so 4 days from now.
they said the phone will be available in stores on 22nd.

I freaking hope so...it's my birthday! lol
I just received shipped email and it is showing delivery by 3pm on 2/21.
When I did the checkout on the AT&T site it told me it's scheduled to be delivered on or before March 6th... if people are getting them as early as the 21 or 22 I sure as hell hope mine arrives around that time as well.

I'd be seriously pissed if FedEx left it on the porch without signature and it got stolen after waiting for this phone. Good thing it's a holiday and I'm working from home all day!
I opted to have mine shipped to the att store - just incase i wouldnt be home when FedEx showed up. This way i dont have to worry about it being left on the front step and sitting there

You know, I was looking for that option and didn't see anything about it. Where was this option during online pre-ordering to have it shipped to a specific store? Maybe next time I pre-order I'll be able to do this.

I didn't see it either. But most likely, you could simply call after placing the order, and have the CSR make the change for you.

It OK! they may sell it and reveal it after launch on 28th. it may be exclusively to best buy? here in the US this is what would happen. any other color goes to Best Buy.

6 more days til launch
Rogers' Customer Support E-mail service never actually helps you with anything as far as my experience goes with them. I'd try calling the customer service and see if they fare any better, but if not, release is just around the corner anyways...
How do you guys know for sure it launches April 28th on Rogers? I heard from a rep its May 2nd.. but not sure if he knew 100% either

I think i subscribed 3 times already to their pre order thing ( yes great programming there.... ) and never got the call on the week of the 15th or anything since then
Plus I called the Customer Relation departement two , three times to see if the reason I wasnt contacted was because I'm not eligible to an upgrade and couldnt get a stupid answer...
They won't even speak of pricing or anything , even less release date, even tho Rogers officially announced it.
The only bit of information that I managed to get was:
"It is launching before May"
So i doubt the may 2nd date is valid =|
well if it helps confirm that its the 28th, i pre-ordered mine from a sony style store and they are getting it for sure on the 28th, which would mean rogers will as well.
i had a chance to play with it in store the other day, man is it fast! i had an iphone 4 and an atrix prior and to be honest i see no difference in speed between dual cores and single cores. maybe a second or two delay in opening heavier applications but thats about it. either way, cannot wait till thursday

[Sprint] Executive Office - Next Week For 32GB

Hey gang,
Dual-posting what I told the folks over at Android Central.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but with Sprint severely lacking in communicating any information to us, I figured you would like to hear what I was told.
I received a call today from Anthony Spoon in the Sprint executive offices. I had sent an email to the executives of Sprint offering suggestions on how they could have better handled all of this. More or less just stated it wasn't important when the phone was going to be delivered, but the severe lack of information was ridiculous and unnecessary. To be honest I was surprised I was called.
Anyway, Anthony told me all of the information they have received is pointing to next week for the 32GB phones to be sent out. I kind of laughed a little and asked why in the heck next week looked any better/worse than this week. I said, "Why should you expect to get them next week and not the week after, or later?" He claimed that this was the information they received from Samsung so that was the message they were passing along. I told him thanks for the information but they really needed to make that official and not wait until Friday before passing that along.
So take it for what it's worth but I would stop spamming your refresh button on the myorder page. ;-)
