Tethering service question

I'm upgrading from an iPhone 3GS and I'm currently on the iphone unlimited data plan. I still have the option to get the unlimited data with 1500 messages plan but was wondering if there were actually any down sides to using that in place of the 4 GB w/ tethering plan. As far as I can tell, it's basically the same service since there are ways around tethering... I've tried searching for more details about the service but I can't see anything.
The biggest down side is the 4g tethering plan will cost you more. 4gigs is plenty for 99% of people but the problem is that once you give up the unlimited plan you won't get it back. Tethering plan just uses an AT$T tethering app. if you have unlimited right, it would be a set back for sure.
The tethering plan cost 45$ a month
Unlimited 30$
and the 2gig is 25$

[Q] Best Plan For Nexus 4?

I'm currently on the $25 Virgin Mobile plan (Unlimited data/text, $300 minutes), and I was planning on upgrading my phone. With the recent announcement of the price of the Nexus 4, I think I might get on that. However is there any plan that is comparable to my Virgin Mobile plan? Seems all carriers have ridiculously expensive plans.
TMobile has some pretty good plans.
Tmobile 30 dollars for unlimited text/data (first 5 gb at "4g speeds") and 100 minutes is what I use. Only available from t mobiles website and walmart. I use Groove IP at home for free calls, but I also already used GV for years so the number is the same for me.
I'm pretty happy with my $45 straight talk unlimited minutes, text and unlimited data (it's really limited to about 2-2.5gb per month then your thottled) on the at&t side of things. You can get the same deal on straight talk with a t-mobile sim card and I hear they are lot more lenient on data consumption. I read about people routinely using 5-7gb's and not being throttled. That's my two cents.
IT's hard to beat the tmobile $30 unlim data/text plan.
where are you people getting these prices for prepaid? All I see is $70 a month for 5GB data
Basically buy the prepaid activation sim kit from T-Mobile website (only .99 cents) then when you activate it it's one of the options.

Value Plan for T-Mo is not bad if you need multiple lines.
I use red pocket which gives unlimted text/calls,25mb data and 250 min of international calling for 39.99$

[Q] Unlimited Plans?

Just "upgraded" my wife's phone over on Verizon to the iphone6. they refused to allow her unlimited data moving forward. I have unlimited data and text grandfathered on my AT&T plans for my son and myself (I'm moving up from an S4 to a note 4 and he is moving up from an HTC One to a Note 4).
Anyone out there running into AT&T refusing to honor grandfathered unlimited plans for Note 4 upgrades?

You can keep your grandfathered unlimited data plan as long as you want. If it's not giving you the option for unlimited data plan when doing the upgrade online you can call customer service and do upgrade over the phone or you can do your upgrade online and choose a different data plan but when you get the phone don't activate the phone yourself automatically on automated system, call customer service and have them delete the upgrade parked information and manually change IMEI and SIM card numbers
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Free mobile app
Just saw a article yesterday that Verizon users with "Unlimited Data" grandfathered plans will now be truly unlimited and unthrottled. I will try to find the article and post it here. I have grandfathered Unlimited Data from ATT, so I HOPE they would follow suit and get rid of the throttling

unlimited data plan verizon and switching phones

I had the unlimited data plan from verizon single like. I upgraded to the tiered plan add a line 20 bucks more to get the promo buy an s7 get one free. Now my plan is changed but i still have unlimited data on my main line. I hope i did not make a mistake by changing my plan. I still have unlimited data. anyway after changing my plan the verizon guy told me i could not move my phones or in other words say give one to a friend to put on their account because verizon checks the imei number to make sure those phones stay with their perspective owners. I was told if i move or give my phone or even sell it i would loose my unlimited data. is this true.
so my questions are
1. did i make a mistake in changing my plan
2. is it true if i give a phone away and to a friend will i loose my unlimited data.

AT&T unlimited plan with mobile Hotspot

I've been thinking about getting the AT&T unlimited plan, right now they are offering the unlimited plan with 10gb of mobile Hotspot per line. My question is, is anyone currently in the new unlimited plan (not the grandfathered plan) and have you went over your 22gb of unlimited data, if so was you throttled by AT&T any.
I have the AT&T new unlimited plan and so far I have never been throttle. I switch from the grandfather unlimited plan over to the new ulimited plan and glad I did.
I am as well. I easily use 100 GB per line - 3 lines. And have never been throttled.
Thanks guys, also if i read it right, it says something like 3mbps download speed? That don't sound right and i think i probably misread it, but do you have regular 4g download speed. I'll look it up again and ss where it said that.
Edit: the 3mbps download speed is on the unlimited choice plan, not the unlimited plus.
I went ahead and swapped to the unlimited plus plan. With the HBO $25 credit plus the $10 wireless and paperless billing i figured I'd save about 25 dollars a month since this plan is 10 dollars more a month than my old one.
