Not ringing through speaker while headphones are connected? - Wildfire General

I encountered a problem: When the head phones are connected and I get called, the ringtone is played only in the headphones. This an annoying problem, because I got used to my old phone ringing via the headphones and the speaker at the same time.
Has anybody else encountered this problem? Is there any fix?
Oh, and please don`t give any "advices" like "unplug the headphones while you`re not using them" because it`s silly to plug/unplug your headphones every time you take your earbuds out of your ears (maybe i`m not even listening to music, but I want to talk using the hands free device).

"It's not a bug, its a feature!" ;-)
But to be seriously, that's the way it's meant to be.

Well, mine doesn't have this problem and both the earphones and speaker sound the ringtone.. are you using the original HTC earphones that came with your phone?

Interesting, the problem appears even when I use the HTC headphones, not only my other headphones.
Maybe i`ll try a hard reset next weekend.

I say good, handsfree private calling should be through headphones or carkit ala nokia operation.

After turning off and back on again, it seems that the problem has disappeared.
I don`t know why, but it works as intended now.
Thanks for the help, guys!

G2 supplied Headset Issue

I am using the supplied (stock) headset that came with the phone and have noticed my callers telling me that I sound far from the phone when in fact, have been putting the headset's microphone very close to my face to talk. Then I figured what was the problem, the caller couldn't hear because when I was speaking, my phone was far away from my face. Doesn't make sense.
Why would the handset's microphone be activated when I plugged my headset into the headphone jack fully? Shouldn't it be using the headset's microphone instead? I am using the headset and I have to put the phone closer to me in order to talk because that's where the sound input is going through (handset for sound-in and headset for sound-out)
Does anyone else seem to be experiencing this? If you haven't noticed this already, could you give some input and let me know? Greatly appreciate it and thanks in advance.
I haven't noticed anything like this.
I will test tomorrow and see what the other caller says. I've been mostly using the headset that came with my Cliq, so haven't had much of a chance to try it out. I haven't had any complaints with the Cliq headset on the G2 though.
I've used the G2 headset for maybe 2-3 calls so far but no complaints.

I've had the same issue and haven't tried to figure out what is causing it. If you unplug the headset and plug it back in it has fixed the problem for me every time.
same thing but on my wife MT3G Slide with both headsets. i have not encountered that issue with the G2

Actually, the first time it happened, I thought the microphone just sucked and I just winged it and kept talking but talked louder lol. I figured out the second time (yesterday) that it could be getting sound input through the handset instead of the headset. So I went to the handset and asked if they heard me better and they said "oh yeah now you sound close". So after that, I unplugged it and retried it and same outcome. I tried using my Sidekick 2008 (LOL) headset and the microphone piece on the headset worked!!
So I went back on my Sidekick 2008 and called someone and tried the G2 headset with the outcome that the headset's microphone works?! WTH? I thought it would be because the G2's headset being defective but doesn't seem to be the case. So I went back to the G2 to try the headset one more time with its complimentary headset to find that it works as intended now.
Maybe its a software glitch on the phone? Because I know it was in the earphone jack properly (twice), if not, I would have heard distortion in the headset itself. I was using Bluetooth earlier and do recall this issue happening the first time when I was using Bluetooth and switching to headset.

Hmm. I did have the MT3G and honestly, people have told me the call quality on that phone was better than the G2. But to fix or try to troubleshoot your wife's MT3G issue with the headset, try powering off the phone and turning it back on then replug the headset.
my wife had done a wipe on her phone and flashed a different rom before i told her to try it. so i dont know what to say lol it works

lol so it works now?
if so I would say it is safe to say it is software issue. because if it was hardware defect, the phone would not know to do sound input through the handset. that is my guess.
she had cyanogen and changed it to a rooted stock rom i'll update if any issues

[Q] Phone Mic doesn’t work if use a headset (headset with no mic)

My normal headset (headset with no mic) always worked with android or WM6.5 to take calls and use phone mic to speak but WM7 people can’t hear me if my headset is plugged in
I was using mine and people could here me fine. My problem was when using the headphones to speak the sound would only come out of one ear, when listening to music it would come out of both ear pieces. It might have something to do with the installed radio version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914485 post your problems here , that is why it is sticky , we don't need to open allot of new threads , for every problem

Low headset volume

Hi, i am using wildfire with cm7 installed on it. I have a little problem- headset volume is really low. Yes, i have tried to push volume up, and it is on maximum. Tried different headset- same. Phone speaker is really loud. I can`t say when this happened because i got my headset only on this week(borrowed to sister).
I am looking for solution, can anyone help?
check the media volume in settings. else buy a good in ear like sony mdr ex85. or try equalizer app, volume+ app etc. mine is so loud. i use sonys in ear.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Checked every volume levels which i can found. If it helps to now how quiet it is, if i level volume down to about level 5, it is almost unhearable.
One more question. Coud it be hardware problem? I don`t know, if phone is using the same amplifier circuit to headphones and phone speaker.
Thanks.
I had the same problem a couple of months ago, so I bought Volume Boost. You can try it for free first, and there are a few other software options I haven't tried. Volume Boost works OK for me.
Go to Android Market (sorry, I can't give you the direct link here, since it's not allowed).
Göran, Stockholm
Thanks, it makes it a bit louder(i can listen to it now) but still silent.
dude you have done something wrong. also i think that earphone and speakers do not share same hardware.

So thats hardware problem? If so, probably new phone will be cheaper.

[Q] Noise cancellation fails with earphones

Normally (phone speaker & mic) I can hear people pretty well and they can hear me pretty well.
When I use earphones (that don't have a mic) the person at the other end can't hear me at all!
For a while I thought that it might have to do with how I was holding the phone while speaking - since I was using the phone's microphone to talk and my own earphones to listen I thought that that might be the reason that people couldn't hear me.
I did some test calls yesterday and that doesn't seem to be the cause.
I did notice that at the beginning of the call, I can hear sounds from my environment (cars honking, people talking etc) coming in over my headphones so I now suspect that the noise cancellation software isn't working properly when using earphones.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
Any fixes?
I tried searching both xda and googel but couldn't find anything that sounded relevant.
I've also tested this on multiple roms and with clean install of pure android, no differences.
Thanks!
Edit: I didn't read well .. Try to stick to head phones who has a microphone built in I cant think about another solution ..
Have u tried using earphones who had a microphone built in . try that first and post results ...

I've tried just about all possible options - the problem doesn't seem to occur when using a bt headset or wired headset with mic - in those situation the noise cancellation software seems to disable itself, which isn't ideal but is much better than it feeding the noise back into my earphones.
i have been using a stereo bt set for a while because it gives me the best overall experience but I would really like to go back to my wired earphones (shure e2c's) as the difference in audio quality is huge, but having to unplug the earphones everytime I recieve a call is rly annoying.
i was hoping that there would be a fix that I had somehow missed....
thanks anyways

Top Speaker Does Not Work While Call on Speaker.

My Nexus 6P's top speaker does not work while on call speaker. The bottom one does. Now, I know is not the speaker because that's only when it happens. The speaker work flawlessly when listening to music, a game, or anything. Someone told me that it might be that the call speaker settings are set to mono instead of stereo but I don't know how to change that or if that's even the problem. Anyone else have this problem or the solution to it? I have tried safe mode, factory reset, everything, but nothing happens. Please help.
Does it work on hands-free mode or handset mode or neither? Do you have any sound mods that could be interfering with call volumes and the likes? Are you on stock ROM and kernel?

No modifications. I did factory resets so even in Stock doesn't work.
I think it's like that from the factory. My top speaker doesn't play when on speakerphone as well.
Mine has never used the top speaker during speaker call.

Wow this is such a relief to hear. I thought it was just me. But that shouldn't be the case. When on speakerphone, it is very low.
how to get them both working ?
