Cyanogenmod 6.1 for GT i9000 Chat - Galaxy S I9000 General

What?
is CM finally out of development phase or smth?
Edit: As you can probably tell, I am an impatient bastard.

Is the packaged version non-rfs then?
Thanks.

Two post, two fails.
JUST READ THIS DAMN THREAD! ALL INFOS ARE STILL THERE!

Yay! Thanks Aery. I appreciate all the hard work you guys have put into this.
Well done !

Excellent stuff. I have run it since this afternoon and it's already a great improvement over the Samsung firmware.
So far I have found that it does not seem to find other Blue-tooth devices (just like it says on the buglist). I have tested with my carkit (Parrot CK3100) and will test with my laptop tomorrow.
Keep up the great work! I am so happy I have the beginning of a CM on my phone!

Thanks Aery. For me work perfectly. i'm on jp5 (new italian froyo, jpp modem). I appreciate all the hard work you guys have put into this.
Well done !

Blue-tooth devices problem also for me. Volvo s80 car kit

Yay, Finally! Been keep up with the progress on this one eagerly awaiting it
Charging my phone to use it now, Good thing I don't use GPS too often

Did u all read the part "keep this thread clean"!!!

Damn ppl it will drive devs crazy like that.
Ty all devs. Sry for this little spam.

Stock dialer is very ugly
But great job!

This version is SERIOUSLY fast compared to the old ones... lagfix definately did the trick. Used packaged .zip version.

I guess the recovery is clockworkmod right? Not the 2e!!
And when flashing with odin,no pit files and no repartition right??

Yes it's Clockworkmod.
No pit files and no repartition checked, only PDA.

"flash Google Addon" you mean "12. Choose "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard"" ?

Cincinnati Bell Froyo update for Milestone XT720!!!

Has anyone tried the official Cincinnati Bell Froyo update for their Milestone XT720?
Finally, there's an official release for this. Check it out here!
No way!?
An official release from CIncinnati Bell!?
How come nobody has said anything about this yet!?
It's an article, any download links?? Rev?
**Edit**
325MB is quite large, (downloading anyway) Rev or any of the guys, can you break down the contents and see what's up please? Much appreciated!
**Edit**
I just browsed through the PDF instructions and it seems that you may opt to have an unrooted 2.2.. Nice!! Although we still don't know how this ROM performs, i'll flash the nandroid once i get the download to finish and post how it goes, although i'm not quite sure if i'm gonna use titanium backup.. I'm used to being on the user's end not the tester's.. LOL..!

i read thru the CB update.. seems like its dex ROM with modifications? so i presume theres no benefits to changing to that over Khal's?
It's unrooted Dexter's Froyo
It's unrooted Dexter's Froyo....
I cannot root my device after upgrading to this ROM.
I stucked at Reading OS Version Properties.
I just click OK when it asked if my ROM is 2 or newer, and nothing happen. My device still unroot.
Should be backing up SD card and flashing the rom with a spanking clean one and shouldn't have any issues. The data and apps will cause conflicts if you dont

[PATCH] Fix Arabic [RTL] on GB 4.5.91

Hello there
I have managed to get fix Arabic on GB 4.5.91, through patching and compiling framework.jar and libwebcore.so.
This will work on every rom that is based on AT&T 4.5.91.
Here is how to patch your phone:
Manually
1) Be sure that your phone is Rooted and Deodexed.
2)Download GBArabic.zip attached and extract it on your phone.
3)Now using Root Explorer or any other root file mangers.
Copy framework.jar to /system/framework/ and fix the permissions
Copy libwebcore.so, libicuuc-arabic.so and libandroid_runtime.so to /system/lib/, and fix the permissions
Be sure that you set permission for all, or you will stuck in bootloop.
4) Reboot and enjoy.
or
CWM Flashable File
1) Be sure that your phone is Rooted and Deodexed.
2)Download CWM-Arabic.zip attached and place it on your phone.
3)Boot into the recovery, and flash the file.
4) Reboot and Enjoy
p.s.
I am quite new here in the forum. So I couldn't post this on the Dev Forum.

Added CWM zip file
Arabic Files for CherryBlur v1.4d Rom ( it's based on ORFR and not working with At&t)
http://www.mediafire.com/?zd93z9leslz6wtc ... tested by me
Thanks Jack,
Does the Browser and Gmail show Arabic correctly in ORFR?
If it worked, I will update my post.
If not, could try and use my libwebcore.so on your phone, and report back to me?
no it's doesn't support the browser
and sorry I changed the rom and can't test the new files
Successfully Installed - CWM Version
Just flashed the CWM file. Working on Alien ROM.
Works perfectly (RTL needs some alignment "observed in Facebook App only"). Donation is on the way! Extra ordinary work and Cheers!

copied the files manually while half asleep, seems that I've messed up ... was stuck in the boot screen, downloaded the automated installation file, applied it and now it works perfectly !
RTL is still not right in gmail messages, but that's super low priority

What you did wrong the first time, is that you haven't set up the permission, but hey you were half sleep I won't blame you .
I just noticed the alignment of Gmail, and droidace says it happen on Facebook.
It seems that these two apps, use different files to show alignment than the browser.
I will take a look at it.
Thanks for reporting, and hope you enjoy it.

How did you update to 4.5.91 ? official update, SBF, OTA, other ? I am still not sure what's the safest way to go to .91 with everyone warning about bricks on this forum
how did you root/deodex ?
Sorry for my dump questions if they sounded so, But i am new into this coming from the iOS land and overwhelmed with all the terms
Thanks mdd5
Hello Ramy, and welcome.
Since you are new here, I will encourage to take a look at THE BEGINNERS (N00B) GUIDE!!!

Now to answer your questions,
ramy_Maia said:

I did update to 4.5.91, by unlocking the bootloader and flashing one of the roms here on dev section, not official.
I am still not sure what's the safest way to go to .91 with everyone warning about bricks on this forum
Everything is safe as long as you follow the guide.
many of the bricks happen here is because people updated to .91 using official then tried sbf to an older version.
When you update using official, you can't flash an older version.
how did you root/deodex ?
As of now, the only way to have root and deodex on .91 is by flashing unofficial ROMs
So you will need to unlock the bootloader and flash one.
Sorry for my dump questions if they sounded so, But i am new into this coming from the iOS land and overwhelmed with all the terms
Your question are not dumb, I was just like a couple of weeks ago.
However, it is better to ask questions like this in Atrix 4G Q&A forum, so you get better answers and faster than here. You can also use search

Great work. I'm glad to see people using my blog and the sources to get Android arabized
Options of Arabic Fonts
Not really sure if there is an option to change the Arabic fonts? Any ideas?
Awesome work anyway with or without fonts
Thank you for your effort
In Alien Rom, Does it work for Write & Read or full (with menus)?
same question in Cherry Rom.

You can either install one of TDJ's newer kernels over your existing installation, or you can download the previous version which has working WiFi.
...from looking at your OP, it doesn't seem like you are on the latest version? if you're not, try flashing it.

Hey Everybody,

Dear Marvlesz,
I was writing a PM to you just to ask you about that but I changed my mind and I opened this thread,
I saw that thread and like always you make me a criminal
That thread is a lot too complicated to make it right, there is not any easy way?
I mean flash DataOnExt anfter installation or something similar?
Haha, I am not making you a criminal or anything, but rather YOU are making yourself a criminal.
I mean seriously, here is a quote of that post:
How is this done?

I noticed that you rarely thank those who try to help you, or even manage to help you!
Thanks by words is not beneficial for them as much as pressing the thanks button. The button is there for a reason.
I also ask you kindly to go over your past threads, such as the almighty battery life thread, and thank everyone who tried to help you. Not just by saying "Thanks!", but by pressing their thanks button!
An example is shown on the above post, the thanks button is located right next to the "Quote" button.
I click thanks for you.
Last one thing, the DataOnExt have to be flasher via recovery, buy I do not have the recovery installed on my Phone, I got Android on NAND which was installed via MAGLDR in Flasher Mode.
Now if I will flash the Recovery my Android will be deleted, right?
I can't find any explanation for this, do I have reinstall all again?
I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall everything from scratch .
Why are you using the flasher anyway? All ROMs that use flasher are old and outdated .
(By the way, I didn't mean just thank me, I meant everyone.)

not so, , , OP could use cwm that runs from sd card, and use that to flash the dataonext.zip to the current android, , HOWEVER, , the fact that he has no cwm on there already tells us that the version of android he is using is probably the original proof of concept (desire stock) and may or may not work with an ext anyway (its not rooted, for a start), so OP would be better picking a more up to date rom anyway (one with dataonext built in would be a good start) and flashing again anyway.

I did that on one of my two HD2, 1 have Gingerbrad and the another one have ICS 4.0.4 but currently ICS give me big problems to run programs which Gingerbrad do not have. On ICS I can install the apps but they crash after run them.
So now I try to keep my Gingerbrad but expand it with DataOnExt, anyway run CWM from sd is a good idea, I will give a shot on that, if something go wrong I will reinstall all from scratch again.

I was skeptical when I wrote that sentence, because I knew you'd come and say something like that. Because that happened before.
But I also wanted him to cope with the rapid development of the HD2 and the recoveries. Besides, that ROM is outdated anyway, i.e. the ACA gingerbread.

creating a custom rom

Is there any good tutorials for creating a custom rom. I'm starting to try to learn but am stuck at the moment. I am using the paid version of SuperR Kitchen. Ive had help getting all the necessary tools and and files needed, I've made it as far as deodexing, and removing Knox, I've added busy box (not sure if it was done correct). But kinda stuck with what to do next. Ive searched all over for a guide on what to do next but everything i come across is for unlocked bootloaders. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm wanting to learn so that i can help contribute to the community here since it seems most of the AT&T devs either skipped the S7 or have moved onto a different device.
Well although i did not get any response from anyone, i have finally figured out how to create a custom rom thanks @stang5litre for all the help and advice you have me. And to @SuperR. for his work on the kitchen.

Yea stang has been helping me a lot. Pretty much step by step. If i have a question i go to him. Lol. And i have lots of questions. There's a lot more to it than i thought. All the tools you need and to have them set up correct and what not. If recommend getting SuperRs kitchen also. I use the donate version, it's only 10 bucks and he updates it very often. I say i built the rom but heck, stang set up the tools, and told me step by step on what to do, so basically i just pushed numbers. Lol.
Sorry I have no idea how to make a custom rom but, this is awesome! I really want an AT&T custom rom if you're working on that good luck man and if not still good luck! Have fun!! Cheers

I've created a rom in MM. It's plane jane. Basically just seeing what I can do. All I've added is 3 mint clock, 3 mini battery, and gradient status bar. But still a success to me just to get it to boot. Lol. I'm working on N but haven't been able to get it to boot yet. I keep getting errors once it starts the symlink process, and i don't understand symlink yet. But even when I do, it'll still be pretty plane just because I'm still learning. Lol. But if your looking for a rom to run right know, stang5litre has am awesome MM over in the Verizon forum. The only thing that i noticed that didn't work for us on AT&T was WiFi calling. He's also working on one for N.
