just wanted to know so i can arrange my schedule according to the release.
Nobody knows...
Seriously, it's hard to believe what we're disposed to do (me too...) to put our hands on this ROM!
Flight tickets to China, rearrange day's schedule, etc
It's like xmas morning...

What are you talking about?
never had a xmas morning before? You try to sleep fast so tomorow you come faster, then you wakeup and remember the presents are waiting for you but you don't know what is...
Man! It's 8.18am, 31 Aug, here in Singapore. When is the URL coming?
Jeez....give him a break and quit with the "when is it coming" "what time"....he will do it when he does it....be patient, he does have a life too you know...

You have to wait for evening hours of Indonesian time. Remember, that Santa Claus is a real person. Today is normal working day. Remember, that even uploading files takes time.
Read wiki (upgrade procedure is exactly the same, as WM5 upgrade),
make backups (only PIMbackup, documents, photos, notes, app specific data, serial numbers, nothing more; don't backup/restore system nor registry),
eat dinner or sth else,
send donations,
read wikipedia about Indonesia
and relax.

Woo hoo finally got my hd2, thoughts and review of service so far...

Well finally I have received my hd2. So far truly impressed and its very fast although I will have to get used to using it (from my x1) and will have to set it up so its exactly how I like it... The screen is amazing, so big and clear and excellent... The capacative screen is not as hard or as unwieldy as I thought it might be...
OS details are - Rom 1.66.76641, Radio 2.06.51.07 and then the letter G 15.34.50.07U (not sure what G means )
I got the phone on a vodafone plan (£40 a mth, 300mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet) and it cost me around £11 for the handset (reasons for this to follow). I bought the hd2 through dial a phone... or dial a phoney as they should be called, and had a hell of a time getting it delivered. Called 04 Feb 10 to order the phone and was told that it would be with me by Mon... monday came and an email arrived saying delivery postponed... fair enough I thought at least they told me... tuesday arrived and again the email came saying delivery postponed... so I called and asked if there was a problem. The chappie on the phone told me the credit thing from vodafone hadnt gone through but he called and confirmed all was ok (it was) and then told me the phone would be with me the next day.... wednesday arrived and another postponed email arrived too... so I called them again and asked what the problem was, nothing they told me... stock ok, credit cleared and all go so I would definitely have the phone the next day... thursday arrived and another email... at this stage I was fuming... so I called first thing in the morning and told them if they didnt get it to me the next day its all over, they told me that the credit thing hadnt worked properly as they were having trouble with their computers or some such and that the phone would be with me first thing friday... so I called again later that afternoon to confirm it was going out and they said yes... friday... you guessed it no phone and a phone call to dial a phoney confirmed that they had no stock, hadnt for a week or so and that they were expecting some in that afternoon and they would send mine out as a matter of urgency... I called again that afternoon to confirm the stock had arrived and they told me it had and was going out and would be with me the following monday... and thats today and it is...!!! yay for getting the phone but booo for such rubbish service and blatant lying... if they had just told me the stock was not in I would have waited a few days but to tell me all the fables they did was just hokum... sure they gave me a recommend a friend discount and £6.50 towards apps but appalling service did not make it a pleasant experience...
Anyhow I have my new baby now and am taking it for a spin... so far loving it...!!!
*edit* and best yet is its fully unlocked for any network, got my o2 sim in there and not a problem... wooohoooo
Congratulations. Hope you enjoy your device.
Word or two of advice; take the time to get to know the device first, especially mastering the keyboard. Once you know it well then take the next step which is tweaking it to what you want.
The step before tweaking is to read, read and read again. There are some excellent threads on here to help you out, e.g. the Hints & Tips thread. Searching on XDA can be a bit of a pain so use this...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all to help you out.
Once again congratulations. Enjoy.
WB
Thanks WB... I have been playing with it non stop for the last 2 hours and am really surprised at how easy the typing is... I was expecting it to be more difficult... but I havent used CE Star yet so we shall see... thanks for the pointers... reading is all I have been doing the last couple of weeks and loving xda once again for the wealth of info here... Cheers..
Ok so after playing for a while I am loving it, very fast and very responsive, and once you get used to the typing its easy and fairly fast... so much better than I expected... screen is awesome for reading and watching movies... clear and bright... I am still getting used to all the new menu systems and so forth, finding my way round the settings and now starting to install all the programs I use and need... also starting to use the bsb tweak...
My only bugbear at the moment is that I cant seem to get ce star working properly, but after some searching on here it seems that I may need to install several times for it to finally work...
congrats to your new toy!
I had issues getting it from Dial-A-Phone too - delivery right near Christmas was hit and miss but it arrived on Crimbo Eve!! Mine was also SIM free on ROM 1.48 out the box...
Since then, I've loved every minute and currently using Dutty's HG v08 ROM - I'd recommend this ROM to anyone as it's near stock but fast as hell!! You can find it HERE (you have to register on HTCpedia to get it but it's worth it!!). You also need to install HSPL to get it on but it's worth it!!
Read THIS before you do any flashing just so you know what's what...
Have fun!!

Getting my Evo today...

In about 3 hours as a matter of fact.
I spent a couple years here with you fine folk back when I had my Tilt but sadly parted ways when I fell for the Apple love-fest. Anyway I'm back!
Considering this is like the 4th or 5th shipment they've gotten I'd imagine its possible that it could be a new batch of devices.
Besides the Hardware version, is there any thing else I should look at when I get it that could help out the community?
I plan on rooting and flashing it tonight so I figured if there's something new on it I could snag it and give it out.
From where?
Is this an individual order or whole shipment?
look for light leakage and non responsive touchscreen when not holding it..there are a few topics on it as im sure you probably already found.
Welcome to the EVO club and let the party begin!
From my local Sprint store. This is the 2nd shipment this week they've gotten. I had JUST missed the waiting list for the 1st shipment so I had to wait until today.
Welcome! Your going to love it! well I do. It's an amazing device!
I'd recommend unlocking nand too while you root. probably better to do it all in one shot.

[off-topic]anyone heard anything about our chromebooks?

Hey guys,
For those of us that went to Google I/O, have you heard anything about the chromebooks we're supposed to be getting? We're two days away at this point so I find it kind of strange that there hasn't been any word from Google.
I guess this probably means they won't be mailing them to us. Otherwise, they would have contacted us to ask where we wanted it shipped to. Probably some sort of voucher we can print off? We'll see on Wednesday, I guess.
Anyway, post here if you hear anything!
Thanks,
Sam

Saw an CNet segment on them. They are really just dedicated internet-only laptops. Instant on, no SW installations, long battery life. Fills a need, just not mine.

thanks, but that's not what I was asking about. I know what chromebooks are. All google i/o attendees are getting free chromebooks(just like how we got free galaxy tabs). I'm wondering if anyone has heard about those. Google hasn't mentioned anything since the event.
I've been wondering the same thing myself. Whenever I receive a new email I get excited for a second, and then realize it's not from Google
Same here.
I hope tomorrow we´ll have the answer :$
Update address
Couple of days ago I emailed them and they said I need to update my address in the google io page if it is changed, this means they may mail it, but they did not give any more information about the date and the method we get our chromebooks.

Ug, I hope they don't just send it to that address. My work address is in there and then it will be a whole accounting fiasco when it gets delivered. lol
Besides, if I remember right, they said we'd get a chance to pick which model. Might be imagining that part though.
Didn't they say June 15th during the I/O 2011 keynote? So I think we might get an email for a coupon to redeem one or something beginning tomorrow.
Sundar Pichai said, "We want to make sure every I/O attendee gets a free chromebook. These are available on June 15th. We will send you an email with details so you can claim your chromebook very, very soon."
Sounds to me like we'll be picking them up. If they just showed up at our doors, we wouldn't exactly be claiming them..
I also went to IO and am also wondering about the Chromebook. Haven't heard anything since the keynote.
I originally thought they may just give us vouchers, but there are a couple reasons I think they won't do it this way. As far as I know, Google has never given vouchers and instead has always mailed the product directly. Also, if they gave vouchers, they'd have to inform the retailers about them which seems like way too much trouble for around 5000 people across the world.
"Claim" doesn't necessarily mean we'd pick them up. You could claim something online as well. I think Google will email us about a page to go verify our address and choose our Chromebook, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Isn't really something that fits my needs either, as I don't think many developers will be able to do much work in just a browser, but it would be pretty nice for basic browsing and YouTube type stuff.
yeah, I don't know what I'll use it for.. I fully intend to attempt to get command line tools like vim, gcc, javac, etc. working on it but I don't know if that will work out.. chrome OS comes with support for python and, I believe, qemacs so that's a start. I still won't be able to write android apps but I should be able to do a fair bit of my school projects.
either way though, I'm still excited. new toys are always fun!
Come on Google!
It´s already 15th!!
still nothing?
Google just sent out a tweet on their IO account saying "#io2011 attendees - we’ll be emailing you next week with details on how to claim your Samsung #Chromebook. Stay tuned!". twitter com/GoogleIO

also, it looks like it would be the wifi version since the 3G version is available in Amazon today (not the wifi).

That's exactly what I expected her to say, that she didn't have that information. It was at the end of a very long conversation. I was happy when she answered but still not 100% convinced. Needless to day I will be up until at least 2 or 3am waiting just in case!
Regardless of if its 12am or 12pm, its PST so make sure you take that into count.
12AM PST? That's in 2 hours!
I'm just going to go sleep. I just left my PC to auto refresh my browser every second and turn off the alarm when "add to cart" is detected. Worked last year for the n5 but I didn't end up buying it, stuck with the n4 for another year.

Just out of curiosity... why are so many people waiting to be first to pre-order? As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't seem like your typical Apple products that's expecting to be sold-out within a couple of hours... Am I wrong to assume that the pre-order should be up for at least a couple of days if not until the actual release date? Or did the Nexus 5 actually went out of stock during its pre-order period?
Thanks.

No it didn't. The Nexus 4 was up for about 2.5 hours before it sold out. The Nexus 5 sold out faster in about an hour and change. They go in and out with refreshing inventory levels, so you probably just got unlucky when you refreshed.
