Picture of back cover removed - Venue Pro General

Here's a picture of the Venue with the back cover and battery/SIM removed.
It's from technical support documents.
There is NO mention in the documents of an SD card.

Can you post the source for that pic? I'd be interested to give it a read.
Thanks.

More importantly, the sticker covering the sd slot mentions NOTHING about voiding a warranty - so the whole argument they're making is BS.

Corrupt Photos

I have just been for a visit to Toronto and used my HD2 to take my pictures including of Niagara Falls from inside the horseshoe falls with amazing views. I have just returned and tried to view them and it seems to have corrupted half the pictures!!! Ive tried copying the files to my pc and using jpg repair applications but nothing seems to work. The files are saved on my memory card but they just wont open!
Anyone have any solutions or is good at repairing images and wouldnt mind having a look for me? I really dont want to lose these pics!
hi
have the same problem with a 32gb sd card who appears to be a "fake" one.
I m afraid only the file names are on the card, but pictures are jammed or impossible to access (maybe even not recorded!)
I didn't find a solution

Bought a used Nook Color, can't register device because previous owner had

This is a stock, unrooted Nook Color I bought on Craigslist. I bought it from somebody by calling the number, not emailing them and I no longer have their number. Apparently the only way I can register the device is for the person who registered it to call Barnes and Noble, add a credit card to the account, and say they want it deregistered. I have no way of contacting the person, am I out of luck? I sold it on eBay to someone without knowing this would happen and I really don't want them to have to return it. I read around a bit but found no solution short of rooting it which they can't do themselves.
Thanks, Cory

I had a very similar experience but luckily I still had the previous owner's email address and she was kind enough to call the B&N 800 number to deregister it for me.
With that said, I've read somewhere there was some magical "factory reset" that could deregister the device but I can't remember where.
You say the current owner who you sold it to can't root it. Why? If the answer is "because they're not very technical..." then perhaps you could assist them (I don't know how invested you are in helping them) in the rooting process?
I have several 2GB microSD cards that are bootable that have ClockworkMod Recovery on them with the last stable CyanogenMod 7.1 and Google Apps files on them ready to flash. Even if somebody wasn't very technical I can't imagine it would be very hard to help them if they had one of these cards or another one you or someone else could make and send to them?
Anyway, PM me if you want one of my pre-made cards. I'm only asking for $8/each (only with Paypal). I also have a 8GB card I'll let go for $12 if that's more attractive.
The person doesn't want it rooted, I asked. She got offended when I asked...
EDIT: I explained it more to her and she seemed to understand. With your MicroSD card, is it just putting in the SD card to get it to boot into Android? Thanks.

That stinks. I guess try to be honest with the buyer. I guess there are some benefits to the stock ROM like using it for children's books, etc., so maybe they have a valid reason. The word "root" might just be scary too.

It's not "that easy"
You put in the card and it boots into ClockworkMod. The user then would have to select the update file to install and then when it's finished pop the sd card out and then reboot it. Then after it boots (or while the boot animation is playing) they would pop the card back in. Then after the NC is finished loading they would (if they don't want it to always boot off of the card) rename the 4 boot files on the card (like adding .bak on the end of each). You may not have to rename all 4 files but I do just for giggles. I do this instead of deleting them so if I need to boot off the card then I just have to rename them back and remove the .bak from each.
mlo --> mlo.bak
u-boot.bin --> u-boot.bin.bak
uImage --> uImage.bak
uRamdisk --> uRamdisk.bak
There is an auto-install image in the Development forum but I liked having more control. So I made these cards with ClockworkMod and included the last stable CM 7.1 along with the last Google Apps and the Amazon App Store apk just for good measure.
If you want to take a crack at creating a auto-install sd card the instructions in the Dev forum are pretty easy to follow.
Okay, thanks, I'm waiting for her to let me know if its' okay.

[Q] pictures in external SD

i took pictures of a recent family vacation and organized them into albums in gallery. i know that the picture files went straight to the external sd card but when i organized them they were moved to the internal memory. are the raw files still in the external sd despite being moved? will a recovery sofware still find them? i made the mistake of wiping the internal sd so all the pictures are lost and the limitation of not being able to mount it makes it all but impossible to recover anything from there.
its pretty much impossible to recover anything on flash memory. I think you're scrwed
Unfortunately I think you're out of luck.
That sucks... you'll just have to take the vacation again.
By default they go internal and you have to tell the camera to store external... are you sure you moved them the other way around??
There are programs that claim they can help restore data from SD cards. Some are free, some are pay. The best advice I can give you is to do a Google search for such programs and look at reviews. It would not be appropriate to list them here due to rules. All of the ones that I have known people to try all give mixed results. Some work and some do not. Good luck.

[Q] CAUTION! S4 Deletes Pics/Vids-An unpleasant surprise&hypothesis as to why

I made a discovery regarding pictures disappearing and videos becoming permanently corrupt that I find hard to believe, considering the presumed maturity of development (Product Management) on Samsung's Galaxy S4.
Discovery came in a "painful" way, i.e., emotionally - frustratingly - angering
It started when I lost several priceless pictures and videos from my daughter's graduation from the College of Nursing.
On our way home, I decided to move the pictures to a folder, I then deleted some pics and moved the entire folder to the memory card. I uploaded a few to my Onedrive but wanted to wait to get home to transfer the rest because of 4G costs.
Well, when I got home, most of the pictures were gone!!!
I was stumped. But it also explained what may have happened to the pics/vids I took of conversation between my mother and sister when my sister was breathing her last breaths, falling to cancer.
The good news for my daughter's pics is with Onedrive Synching, and WiFi in most places where I've taken photos, I've since retained most of my pictures, but some are gone forever, or so it would seem.
Here's my hypothesis I'd appreciate a response to.
I hypothesize that the cameras, during "capture" write to a temp folder in internal memory, then transfer the photos to either the internal camera folder, or to external "card" if that's how you have the camera set.
That's where the problem is. What if your SD card is bad, as I discovered was the case with mine? You can not write to it.
And here's my accusations against Samsung/google for what I consider to be minimally amateur Product Management/Development Management, at the least, if not injurious and worthy of a law suit by some ambulance chaser.
Based on observation and hypothesis, here are my accusations/analyses, :
AT&T/Samsung/google:
1. Do not allow me access to internal memory any more. The phone is "locked down" and therefore I cannot get to internal memory with undelete software.
2. Did not think through the ramifications of what that would mean in the event of accidental deletion of files, let alone priceless photos and videos, and so their amateur, imbecile brains failed to provide an undelete "button".
3. Do not verify written/moved files, before deletion, when the camera is configured to store images on the external card. They ASSume, rather, they surely were written, and simply delete them from the temporary area.
4. Do not warn me that the external card cannot be written to, and therefore fail at the move function.
laughable amateur stuff!!
Can anyone verify my hypothesis?
I'm further speculating the files remain in the temporary folder, deleted. Is this a correct hypothesis. One reason I believe it is, is because upon inserting an SD, the popup tells you it is configuring the SD for camera, except "burst". Of course, this adds 5. to the list above.
5. Do not test to then warn me, by simply writing a quick file to the card, that the card cannot be written to.
So when you shoot vids and photos, you can review them for a few minutes, then they "magically" "mysteriously" disappear (pics), or become corrupt (vids). I uploaded a video of a dolphin jumping fully out of the water to my facebook last week, I then went to show it to my daughter and it was gone, except it was on facebook,, in very poor quality.
Can anyone tell me where the temp folder it is? Is it accessible without "root" ing?
Will "root" ing format it?
I found a utility that can recover even after a format. Has anyone tried any of those after "root" ing?

Your in luck, simply go to https://towelroot.com/ on your phones web browser, tap the Lamba symbol which will download a APK, open the APK and install Towel Root, once the app is open hit the "Make it Ra1n" button. Once that's done head over to the Play Store and grab the SuperSU app. If you need further instruction you can PM me or call me via Skype.

Location of the files that are put in safe....

Of course, I have files, photos and videos that I have utilized the safe function under file to secure the ones that i want no one else to see.
But then, occasionally, i may want to attached a picture to a whatsapp conversation and then there is no way that I can attach directly from the safe!
for example, my passport copy... i don't want to save the passport copy just in the photos folder, so i add that to the safe. But when i need to apply for something and want to send my passport copy via whatsapp to say e.g. my parents or my wife etc. What i need to do is that I need to :-
1. First take that out of the safe to your dedicated location either on the phone or the SD card etc.
2. Then go back to the whatsapp conversation and then now you can attach the picture to the whatsapp.
3. If you want to secure the picture again, then you have to add that back to the safe.
I have originally organized different photos of passports, IDs, driving license, credit card front and back etc in the safe. But when I take one picture out, or a couple out, then I will have screwed up the sequence / order of it. I found that there is no way that I can organize the order of the pics that i have saved in the safe. So, if I have the visa card front view at the 1st pic and back at the second pic.... once i have taken out the credit card front view form the safe, and then put it back to the safe, that pic will have to go to the back of the queue, e.g. pic number 38 location. and this is just messing up my filing system.
Does anyone know any way that files in safe can be organized?
Hope to hear your experience soon.
Thanks.
I guess not being able to access the safe from other apps is by design for ultimate security. Though Samsung has a better system of unlocking the secure folder systemwide as a session. It's why I haven't really bothered with Huawei's version.
I think your solution would be to use a third party app that does a much better job. There are ones that offer good encryption from reputable developers.
