Geez~ Samsung, are we going to be the next Sony's X10 and be two updates behind too ?

That's right, The DEV version for the nexus one developers phone is coming out. So it will last a long time when it comes to samsung... like always..

You say that as if rumours are gosphel. If that is how you treat rumours, I've got this bridge I'm selling...

I cant find anywhere. Everyone were waiting for 8.November for Samsung press conference. Did they announce something?? Nexus S?? If you have any links, please write it.

It was just a rumor. (new user so just add the 3w).

Pretty sure Google wants to have the Nexus S come out first on the 16th and then OTA the update to us on the 17th or so
Yeah, ask again next Thursday. No reason to believe we'll see it before then.

Unless the famous Football has anything to do with it. If I don't see a leak for the nexus by next wednesday, I'd be surprised
I'm pretty wrapped up in senseui 2.0 right now, gingerbread can wait
What's the point of waiting just for the next day to release the ota for n1? There's no real gain in that for google.
I suspect we'll have to wait longer than 1 day.

How about they sell more Nexus S devices because geeks can't wait to get their hands on Gingerbread so they rush out to buy the phone anyways? Surely we all know it's coming to the Nexus S but look at the thread title, people are going nuts for Gingerbread as it is! LOL
Surely they could just do what Apple does and release the update the day before for the older phones but i guess we'll see

There is a good reason to wait.
Now when the SDK is out all the developers can test their apps against the Gingerbread and fix all the bugs and incompatibilities.
What do you think would happen, if goog realeases their 2.3 update and some popular apps don't work anymore? This forum would literally explode with screams like "fix this immediately or else", "I hate google", "gingerbread killed my cat" and so on. Why google would do that to themselves?
Jw but how is doing the dial in update thing different from the check for updates in the settings?

There is no check for updates in the settings, that's how.

I'm sure he's doing both just in case one yields different results. Supposedly I've heard that the Settings Updater doesn't always check, but caches the answer for an allotted time. Doing a "checkin" actually goes out and pings google (or wherever) and comes back with a result after a few seconds. The Settings app just flat out tells you no.

No there isn't. That section doesn't 'check' for updates, it tells you the result of the last system check for updates, which is done automatically, or forced through the dialer.
Going to that part of the settings does not force a check.

The point would be so that the Nexus S can be marketed as the first phone with Gingerbread.
Yeah they will probably either delay it to just after Dec 16th or release it some time next week. I'm betting on just after though.

True, but its not like they would lose any buyers anyway.
The N1 is only sold as a dev phone. And how many ppl have a N1? compared to SGS or others...
Also, like when they released froyo...many apps didnt work with 2.2 and had to be updated.
There are alot of devs out there with a N1 as a devphone. Giving out 2.3 before the NS release thus giving time for the devs to update their apps before launch would give android better publicity. And happier customers
I dont know if this is an issue with 2.3 though...
(I know the SDK is out)
I was referring to 1 day vs 1 week or more. More seems more appropriate, as you all say.
The only place I'll be "checkin" with is the Development section chef's.

An N2? You must mean you can't wait for HTC to make another pure stock Android device with impressive specifications. It doesn't seem something such as the "Nexus Two" will ever exist.
Hypothetically speaking.. you could call the G2 the successor to the N1 in some ways. At least HTC's successor.

Exactly what I was thinking.
There's always something bigger, better, faster, slimmer coming out.
I just pray that whatever comes next with the name NEXUS is something that shocks people. Like the Nexus One was the first to feature the Snapdragon processor.
The Nexus S didn't really bring anything new to the table. Other than the fancy curved screen and the NFC, that's it!
It's just a rebadged Galaxy

well.. only a few more months, i can wait. I'm assuming this will release the same time around the iphone 5? what a competition.
Depending on who releases it and what the specs end up being, this could "replace" my N1.

NO WAY!!! I highly doubt it android barely takes advantage of the Duo-Cores there's not many games supporting Tegra 2 Devices as it is. By Nvidia releasing a Quad-Core would be Suicide for the 5 devices running a Tegra 2 chips.

I really hope its not an LG. I've had their phones from the ENV's and ENV touch. Each of which I returned about 5-6 times with the same issues. I know that a potential N3 is a ways away, but an LG brand would be enough to spoil the anticipation.

Yeah but the article on post 1 was from Android&Me pre-confirmation. The article I listed was post-confirmation, and gave quotes from Andy Rubin.
Just because Google says a press release about Nexus is coming, that doesn't mean a new device is going to be confirmed. Remember that whole bit Google released last summer about how there was not going to be a new Nexus device? How easily we forget...

You should seriously know why I (and some others) asked where the good news are. So of course the SGS+ is "Galaxy line", but the text explicitly enumerates the ics-upgradeable devices out of the "Galaxy line" - so I would not read something into it, what is not stated.
