The Markey download/update problem - Epic 4G General

Anyone know the reason this is happening?
It's not just on our phones... my buddy's evo does it too. and on top of it, if you enable wifi, it starts rights up. some said gtalk fixes it too
I'm just curious why most android people have this problem. it's annoying as hell.
can it be 2.1 related? I think 2.2 does it too though

Dialpad not responding to touch

Hey all,
I just upgraded recently to JF V1.5 and I noticed that the onscreen dialpad does not respond to touch when a call is in process. I have to open the keyboard to input. Its annoying as hell.
I looked all through the settings to see if there was some option to enable/disable the screen during a call but I didnt see anything.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a known issue?
I too have had this problem. A reboot will generally fix it. Have you had any issues with calls coming in and Android core locking up?
In any case, I think that in at least in my case, the program "Owner" might be suspect. What do you have installed on yours? Perhaps we can compare and get this narrowed down.
Well the problem went away even without a reboot. It hasnt been consistent.
I havent had any lockups during calls though. The only apps I have installed are:
wifi tether
twidroid
last.fm
skype
where
pixelpipe
movie finder
jf updater
bank of america
beetag
thats pretty much it.
I'm getting the same issue. Of all those apps the only 2 I have are JF and Pixelpipe. I'll uninstall them and see.
It isn't consistently happening for me either but it is damn annoying when it does. I hope Magic users don't get it, without the keyboard you'd be stuffed.

market is slow

is it just me or is the market running very slow in froyo?
This message was deleted by its author
any ideas why?
Check your logs, it's the usual socket timeout issues, like when you switch for a new Android phone... it should disappear very soon (I had it for an hour earlier)
it was working for me, but now things are downloading and not installing... they just sit there at 100%...
I can't say I notice Market being slow but this is really pissing me off... I bought bTunes and a couple other apps and Market has them marked as Buy as if I don't own them.
WTF.
I'm getting that too, bTunes says Buy, but a lot of other protected apps just don't show up! Is this happening for everyone?

Good call... MLB At Bat is MIA. Hopefully this is a quick fix for the Market crew. I think I should shoot them an email to make them aware.
Protected apps like m bank´s are disent from this version of the Marquet...
That´s my only problem with this awesome 2.2 update.
At a guess most of them are probably to do with the new apps2SD, no doubt when devs start updating them with the new move to SD tags we still start seeing them again
Going to give it a few days before I complain about not having some paid apps (bTunes) though, hopefully thats an easy fix!
really slow
I also see the market is really really slow, I wonder if 2.2 is going somewhere else for data and that source was not ready for everyone to jump on the unconventional means of getting 2.2 up; also, some apps I had are not available and do not come up in searching the market.
Edit: Almost uncanny, but after pressing submit post, both problems disappeared and the market is now the fastest I have ever experienced. Installing and browsing at super speed. No reboot, or anything and my market is normal. Hope it works itself for others so fast
same here some apps arnt there anymore. it happened when the desire came out, protected apps wouldnt show. am sure they had to do an update on the phone to get it working.
i had same problem when start it for the 1st time after flashing yesterday, problem went away after a couple of reboot, now everything is incredibly fast.
Slow!? Lol you must be kidding me.... i have been using Cyanogenmod 5.0.6 for quite awhile and i had to wait, hang on... 5 minutes everytime downloading 1 app.
Here on Froyo, its just instant!
Froyo FTW.
I'ts a common issue it will fix himself (don't ask me how). I had this problem to and one day it fixed itself. This was also with 2.1.
This problems starts when you make a fresh start. There was a silent update for the market and if you have this update market is working fast enough else you have to be patient and wait till you get the update (again).
If you didn't make a fresh start and updated you won't be seeing this slowness of the market.

Syncing??

Hey guys,
So, I have turned off ALL automatic syncing as much as possible. But somehow, the stupid little sync wheel keeps coming on every now and then. Next time I see it, what's the best way to determine what's ACTUALLY syncing? Astro? Task Killer?
Go to settings<accounts and sync<tmobile and youll see that tmo contacts sync runs whether its on or off...you can turn it on and back off and itll kill it for a while...but thats about all you can do til someone comes up with a fix...hopefully froyo will fix it.

Thanks. Any new word on when Froyo will be released?
During a conversation with a t-mo store manager, he gave me the usual rundown of fixes to help with the syncing problem and said that tmo was rushing the fix. They gave away tens of thousands of slides on the fathers day promo and are getting buried in cust service call about it.
He said that despite the PITA that the sync problem caused, its probably the luckiest break that slide users will ever get, in that tmo will push the froyo update out faster to get this problem fixed. Lets hope they dont push an interim fix instead.
I really dont have much of a problem with the sync issue myself. I also dont have any issues with dust getting under the screen. Guess I'm the lucky one.
I used to have the same problem with the syncing, but lately it seems to be working fine. I'm not sure if t-mobile fixed something on their end or not.

google talk/Froyo update

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but on all 3 of my Froyo phones I've noticed after making a phone call, when I go in to check my Gtalk I get an error saying that I'm unable to connect to the server. I also won't get emails from time to time but that one is intermittent. The only way around it, is to let it sit for an hour, or go into airplane mode count to 10 and get out of airplane mode. Anyone else seeing this?
The 3 devices I've seen this on are
CDMA Hero running Cynagen 2.2
EVO Running Stock HTC Sensed 2.2
EVO Running Cynagen 2.2
Epic Running Stock Touchwiz 2.1 - not experiencing this issue
Thread title is misleading, I was hoping to learn of an update for gtalk..
I have frequent problems signing into gtalk and it seems the market won't initiate downloads unless gtalk is connected.

Apologies on the misleading Thread title, it doesn't look like I can change it now.

My wife and I both have EVO's and have noticed that after making a call, or after moving out of a wifi and/or 4Garea and going back to 3G, Talk will not sign in for a long period of time. It always says cannot connect to server. Her EVO is Stock 2.2, mine has full root. It's quite frustrating and makes no sense to me...but then again I'm not as tech savvy as most on here.
I dont beleive it has anything to do with signal as I have had this happen when I have had full service and have run a speed test to ensure that I have a decent signal. I've gone into settings-apps-manage apps and have forced stop the app, as well as cleared data. Ive signed in and signed out, tried setting up both phones all over again, tried setting up different google accounts...everything I could think of. Nothing. It's not a HUGE deal, but frustrating since we communicate throughout the day via Talk.
EDIT - I'll try to see if I can replicate this on my Epic when I get home. However, my belief is that it has something to do with 2.2 since I never experienced this until the update, and the Epic is still on 2.1

[Q] Clicking an App takes you back to the main page

Have you ever encountered this phenomenon where, when you click an app it just takes you back to the main page. The app does not load at all.
Why does this happen? What is causing the app not load.
The only way for me to work around this problem, is to restart the OS. Powering down and then powering up again solves my problem. There have been no need for me to pull out the battery or use the Reset feature.
But it puzzles me what is going on in the back ground to cause this problem.
Marketplace is one app that i had problems with at times.
I just need to understand this problem. Cos i do not want to keep rebooting the phone to solve such problems.
I noticed this behavior yesterday -- specifically with the Marketplace App after my son had tried to install the Assasin's Creed demo. Seemed like the Marketplace was in a "hung" state at that point, which only an OS restart would resolve -- either that or waiting for the OS to fix itself, if that's possible.
You're not alone, and it's certainly something that Microsoft will resolve in their 1.1 update.
Honestly, this was such a minor issue for me, that I really did not pay too much attention to it, but it IS there, and I think it is an OS problem, rather than the LG Optimus' fault. How I fixed it was that I launched something else, like Facebook or Twitter ( basically something third-party ), and then pressed the start button. It seemed to resolve the issue for me, not sure what degree of success others will have.
The marketplace is fairly buggy and can cause you in some pretty irritating issues. I know Microsoft is working on it... with new servers and services sometimes getting everything right can take a bit...
