How do you change the LED Color? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the settings you can change which applications can activate the LED, but I don't see a way to change the color. Anyone know how to change the LED color?

What makes you assume that you can change it?

More than likely the LED can display more colors, like the N1.

IMO the LED are only designed to produce 3 colors

No, it more than likely cannot.

I tried an app that tests this, it got the LED started but it only stays on green... I think it is safe to say that it only has about 2 colours and cannot be customized by an app... However this app was built for N1 and Milestone, so it could might just be not working right on MT4G

I used Handcent on the Droid X and it allows customizing the LED colors. I just tried Handcent on my MT4G and though the option is there for customizing the colors it doesn't respond to a key press so I assume it's disabled on this phone. You can still tweak vibration patterns and tones as well as different notification icons for different persons.

Yeah I tested out some apps and I could only get it to display green. Hopefully it can display other hex values so someone can develop that feature for us.

LED display with three basic color
I am bruce from one led display company, according to my idea that you can try to change the electronic current for it , then it can change the brightness for red, blue, green lights.
Because the white color is made of three basic color: 3:6:1 in red, green, blue.
If you need more details , please inform me .
bruce

It acts like the LED on the G1 did, i did some hacking when i used to have one, and through terminal could change its color, If i get the time, i'll see what i can come up with-
Nick

if you need any support, I can talk to our engineers to help you , if you are good at the electronics, we can introduce the IC for your reference to controll the bnrightness of led display

LED colors
If you are looking for different colors for your LED.....there is an app in the market called "noLED" that allows you to use LED icons that pop up on your screen each time you get a text, email, missed call, etc. Give it a whirl, I really like it!!!!!!

NoLED=battery killer
Used it on ny Captivate because there was no notification LED. No reason to use it on the MT4G

Please post questions in Q&A section.

4G LED - color capable?
My My Touch 3G used to be able to do Green, Red, Blue, Orange, etc...I use Nitrodesk Touchdown and could have my email flash blue, appointments flash red, and Handcent SMS flash orange, therefore could simply look at the flashing LED to determine if it was email, sms, or appt. Did the 4G get designed to only flash orange and green, or is the ROM able to make tweaks to get more color out of the LED? I am able to have handcent flash orange and it works, but everything else simply flashes green no matter what you set it.

If you're running cm7 you can change them under cyanogen settings. You can have the led blink a different color for different app notifications too.

sadly, on the MT4G, you can only have red or green as your options on CM7

But isn't that a limitation of the phone and not CM7?

Backlight notification kernel for epic 4g?

I was looking at BLn over on the I9000 forums and it seems like it'd be cool with the lack of notification leds available for our device. Is it possible to compile the module in a kernel (say for Genocide<3) for the epic 4g?

not likely...it would require heavy modification to bln code to play nice with our hardware keyboard
lack of... wait... what!?
My epic has has a notification led, sound, and vibration. What more we need?

I know we have 2 leds. When I said lack I meant we don't have as many as I want. Anybody ever had a blackberry? Now that's a notification led. You could have a different color for email, text, missed call, missed call from specific person, etc. Anyway thanks for the info rod.
cd's or tapes?

Handcent sms has customizeable leds. And I'm sure there are others.
cd's or tapes?
Galaxy Tuner has adjustment for leds I believe, though I've never used those adjustments, so I'm not sure what they're capable of. I only use it for the equalizer.

Xoom Status Bar Brightness?

Hi folks - My Dad - all 75 years of techno geek in him - just got a Xoom.
He loves Android (on his EVO & trying to learn the Xoom) but his eyes can't seem to see the status bar down @ the bottom clearly.
It looks dim. Is there way to adjust the brightness for the status bar (particularly the lower right one)?
Thanks.
I don't think there is. It just uses the standard screen brightness setting so its the full screen or nothing I think.

Thanks for the input.
From the lack of responses, I tend to think this isn't a huge issue for people. LOL!
We did adjust the brightness for the screen & it didn't seem to make much of an incremental difference.
Try one of the themes that brighten it up.
Touchwiz is brighter, I'm sure the red theme is brighter as well.

Hmmm...will look for it. Thanks for the idea.
If you're going to use a theme, you will have to convince him to let you root his XOOM.
If you want to go that route and don't feel like installing a completely new theme, I can make a brighter version of the stock control buttons for you. The clock font brightness is not editable at this time since hnytool hasn't been updated for 3.2, however.
As far as colors go, green is easiest and brightest seen by the human eye. Try the green theme.

Google Voice text gray on MIUI

The one thing I'm not liking so much about MIUI.US is how GV message text is light gray. I don't use SMS, but I'm guessing this is the case for any messaging app.
Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, do you know how to make the font black?

Go into theme manager and try different themes for download. And yes it will still be in english even if you see chinese lettering.
There are tons to download

I've actually tried about 15 of them, and the one thing that always stays the same is the gray GV text. Although, for such an awesome ROM, the gray text is a pretty small complaint!

Camera flash mod???

I was messing around on my brothers iPhone earlier, and I saw that when someone calls or texts him his camera flash strobes a few times. I was wondering if there was a mod out there that did that, or if a dev could cook one up.

umm... if you haven't noticed...
whenever someone calls/text/emails/whatever, there's a little LED green light that flashes at the front, just to top left of the mytouch logo.....
so no need for that.

Yeah I know that but I just thought it would be cool to have that

The flash LED isn't physically locked to the camera since it can be turned on with the 900 flashlight apps available.
Therefore, it's got to be possible to have an incoming call or text trigger the light to go on.
I couldn't code a simple math problem myself, so I have no idea how you'd do such a thing. But I know it's possible.
Just go into google market and search flashlight alerts. There are several apps that do just what you want.
