Go to Start Menu...Settings...Connections.... USB to PC and then select Activesync.
You can also re-enable the ask me every time option if you like.

thanks guys , problem solved after restarting my pc
it dosent work for me.... i cannot connect my HD to my Computer. he always wanna start the internet shainrg... please help!
ActiveSync does not allways works properly with all computers. You could try Start Menu...Settings...Connections.... USB to PC and then uncheck the first option after ActiveSync (something like 'activate advanced network functionality' -I am sorry but my OS is in Spanish-).
I had to do this in one of the PCs I sync with HTC HD, though in other case it synced with no problem.
hmm its worked, but the internet sharing are starting too...
hi i have same problem with automatic start internet sharing... It is some solution for me how disable opening internet sharing after connect to usb?
No matter what I do, I can't get rid of this either... Any more thoughts?
Thanks,
m
This problem seems to have cropped up on at least 3 different threads, and with no sensible fix so far!
I am having problems on my stock Rhodium WWE, where I used to get a choice of AS or Storage card as mass storage, now I just get the internet connection sharing screen.
I have tried the various other fixes presented, but no luck so far.
same problem...

here too.
I managed to screw up my titan (again). I installed the ICS Control program to get wifi bridge mode because I was sick of using the USB cable to tether. It didn't work at all and I exited the program. Now my cellular internet does not work on the phone unless the laptop is connected via USB. I get "Page not found" errors otherwise. It says it's connected though (data arrows). It also works intermittently when connected to a wifi access point. Anyone know a fix to this issue?
I have the same problem on my N1
I am after some help .
My N1 on Optus is getting good speeds when tethered to my laptop but when not connected my 3g signal is dropping out .
I am using it tethered to post this @ 3kms from Adelaide CBD
I can't access webpages or market as it they keep coming up with network error retry .
I am able to access webpages & market on N1 whilst tethered
I have had good 3g signal till last few days i haven't changed Roms or anything like that recently .
Many Thank$ In Advance

What have you tried to do so far? I 'd would recommend you clear the cookies, cache and then delete your existing connections under settings and manage connections. When you see mange existing connections click on that and then tap and hold on the connection that is a present and select delete. (the connection with restore and do a force out to the internet to update your settings when you soft reset the device.
Noticed that, obviously my phone is not in airplane mode, please advise.
mine does this when im plugged in to the pc via usb

Yes...when plugged in via usb it utilizes the internet that is available in the pc and overrides the wi-fi. Unplug the usb cable and the wi-fi should come back on without any interaction on your part.

Does it do it no matter if I choose active-sync/file sharing/internet sharing? I guess the third option does not make much sense...

I'm a little outside of my comfort range here...but...I believe the third option, internet sharing allows the PC to use the HD2 as the internet source. This is referred to as tethering. I'll look forward to someone correcting me if I'm wrong.

Bingo, you are correct
It passes your data connection over to your PC via USB, just like the phone was a modem.
but what if you want to use the phone as the internet source from your laptop? I have wifi in my house and use hotspots when available but what if I have neither available. can I use the phone to connect my laptop to the internet?
if so HOW?
thanks

If your LT does not have a wifi card get one, a using a $30 wifi card is preferable to using a $500 phone as a wifi dongle ...[/QUOTE]
But, yes you can use your phone to access the internet on your laptop , as stated before it is called tethering , it uses the phones data connection not the phones wifi connection ...
The exception to that is , if you run the wifi router app on your phone, not plugged into usb, then you can connect your LT to your phone via wifi ...
So one more time ...
Internet Sharing over USB allows your LT to connect to your phones Data connection not its wifi , wifi will be disabled.
Internet Sharing using the Wifi Router on the phone turns the wifi into a Ad-hoc access point, so your LT can connect to your phone over wifi and use your phones data connection ..
---double post ---
my laptop does have 802.1bgn built into it. so at home, it automatically connects to my wireless router. this all works fine. I cannot afford to pay an additional $30 or whatever extra per month for a few minutes of internet access that I need from time to time from a wireless card/dongle or whatever.
if I take the LT to a hotspot (starbucks for example) once again it if fine.
if I go to a location that has neither then I would like to use the phone, either tethered or through bluetooth or wireless to get the laptop to connect to the internet throught the htc phone but I just cannot figure out how to do this.
I can connect the htc and the laptop through bluetooth or by the usb tethering but it will not connect to the internet and I cannot figure out what I need to do to get it to connect.
can you help me on this? thanks

Ok now we are getting somewhere, do you have a screen that pops up on your phone that asks you how to connect?
If not goto Settings>Connections>USB to PC , then check the bottom box "Ask me ..."
When you plug your phone into usb it should ask you if you want to use , ActiveSync, Diskdrive, or Internet Sharing, if you choose Internet sharing it should goto the data screen right after that and install the driver on the PC.
It then should connect .
So really your question should have been , "How do I share my phones data connection over USB?", or something like that .
..
It is a good idea to have the other connections on your laptop shut off, wifi , lan ...
that button has been checked but it only it says the first two active sync and disc drive but not internet connections. how do I get it to ask me that?

Well, to be honest, I only played with mine Stock for about 3 hours, so maybe someone with a stock one that has played with it more, will wade in here .....
pblocal, somewhere in your start menu, you will find an icon for "internet sharing", just run that, and make sure the two options are set to "USB" and "T-Mobile Data" (or whatever your data connection is named, it should be in the drop-down list), and then hit "connect" in the bottom left.. If you're connected via the ActiveSync option, it should then feed your 3G connection to your pc over the usb cable.
looked all over for that but could not find it.
could it be this phone does not have it? that would be LAME!
thanks for the help guys but I need more....
you can find the "Internet Sharing" app in the tools folder in the start menu.
it is in misc. settings on the phone last setting at the bottom

wow! found it, sometimes the most obvious buttons are the most difficult to see. I hooked it up and for some reason it connected automatically for me this time.
thanks everyone for all your help. I can now use my phone to get my laptop on the internet if need be, once in a blue moon!
thanks again.....
ps - this post was done while using the 3g connection from my HTC, not so slow either!
Hi all,
I tryed many times to synchronise my HD2 (WP7) with Zune in wifi mode but i can't. I have an error (a code number whitout explains).
My phone is connected to zune via USB and is conencted to Wifi.
Zune show me the wifi name wihtout error. But when i try to pass to next step, it throw me an error
Somone found a way to do it with HD2?
If you posted the error code that might help people help you.
Is the PC connected to the same WiFi or same network that the WiFi is on? (ie same IP/subnet)?
You're also aware that the Phone won't sync over WiFi if it is plugged into the PC with USB.
It has to be plugged into AC power for more than 10 mins before WiFi starts.
i managed to setup usb tethering on my desktop.
but one problem remains.
when first set up it works good.
but then after some inactivity time the connection gets lost.
like typing a long(5-10) minute responce on the forums usuallydoesnt go through... kinda frustrating.
and then after i unplug the phone the internet connection doesnt work anymore.
it shows tethering plugged in on the phone.
the network connection shows up but it says disabled. and when i try to enable it manually it doesnt do anything but slow down my PC.
i unplug and plug it back in many times with no result
the only way to work around it is to restart my PC which is kinda pain in the ass.
bump anyone can help?
would still like some help.
whats the proper way to disconnect the phone from PC while tethering?
