Is there anyway to use bluetooth HID keyboard in HD2 android?
I found similar issue mentioned under nexus one thread.

tried it, but it doesn't work.
I also tried some 3rd parties software from market. All doesn't seems to work for me as well.

Hi there. I did some research and found that Android builds with Cyanogen mod will allow you to use a Bluetooth keyboard.
To test this out, I went ahead and bought three BT keyboards from Fry's Electronics (Microsoft Mobile Bluetooth Keyboard 6000, Logitech diNovo Edge, and Apple Bluetooth Keyboard). I wasn't able to get any of them to successfully pair up and connect with my HD2 (running Android - MDJ Froyo Sense Revolution v.1.5 build). I keep getting a "Disconnected" message when I tried typing. After changing the build to Hyperdroid v.1.7 (which has Cyanogen Mod), I found that everyone of the BT keyboards that I bought worked. Also, Blue Input is better than Blue Keyboard JP for most of the BT keyboards. The input response is very slow/choppy with Blue Keyboard JP.
I haven't tried the other builds with Cyanogen mod yet, but I'm guessing that they support BT keyboards as well.

Only Hyperdroid 1.7 works. I've tried other Cyanogenmod_builds
My keyboard Geyes by name, Gey by nature. Advertised as WM6.5 AND Android SPP.. No it bloody well isn't..
Anyway after more hours than I care to mention. Here's my results
- NexusHD2-FRG83D_V1.8_(Froyo 2.2.1) - NO won't pair/work
- Ginger_hd2_v1.2 - Connects and pairs but still can't type a thing. (really like this build too. Big buttons/icons AND FM Radio)
- HD2ONE-0.3.4a OR B - a I can't get it to build on my hd2 B.... Connects/pairs but as above. Including the really like (FM radio, too)
- MDJ_FroYo_Streak_v.0.4_RAM_Edition - Don't remember it pairing, nor connecting and therefore it certainly didn't work... FM on this one, (haven't tried the Dec 16 build)
- Biffmod-hd2-v-1-3-1 - No pair, no connect, no woman no cry.. Cyan 6.0 not 6.1 this one...
No luck with either

The Holy Grail would be to combine builds. FM Radio bigger buttons.. Nope, I don't know how to do that.. Very reluctant to mess anymore. Nearly driven me mental this has... Somehow it would mean extracting the BT files from Hyperdroid1.7 and putting them into one of the others HD2ONE, perhaps?
same problem here, paired/Connected, but i get nothing when i type.
and when i type hciconfig, it shows that HD2 is actually receiving data from my BT keyboard, even blueinput can make a sound when i press keyboard
is there a solution? bcz this is driving me crazy...
Did Hyperdroid work for you? This is straight out of the box, with none of the other 3rd party services.
I haven't tried any of the 3rd party stuff with other builds where the keyboard does connect and pair, but where the keyboard doesn't actually work.
YES, HyperdroidV1.7 DOES work, with no 3rd party software, and this might be the only one I know that works, but still, Fn, Caps and some keys won't work.
I don't like the layout of Hyperdroid, the icons and fonts are too small, and the latest version of psx4Droid won't work in full screen mode, but Nesoid works perfectly well, that's for sure
what I want most is that I can directly use bluez in darkstone's SuperRAM v1.5 to connect to my BTKB, no 3rd party software, but as I say, I get nothing :-(
I figured this might be some kind of bluetooth configuration problem, bcz other android devices like nexus one, EVO, Dell Streak DO work(maybe not perfectly well)
BTW, my BTKB is iPazzPort
I've learned that for Freedom Pro Keyboard, there is an official driver to install before you can use it under android, here is the link:

I don't know if this works for freedom i-connex BTKB as well, and havn't test it on other BTKB.

seems that I didn't quite understand how to use this tiny software before...
and again, the keyboard won't respond when I use Nesoid, which works perfectly well in HyperDroid, but u can type text though.
so, if I use bluez utility, the connection seems ok, the problem lies in the selection of the right keyboard, and how to switch to the right keyboard? I tried install other input method like google, but it won't help :-(
Yes, exactly my point. I've seen that Superfast Rom version and tried it. Yes, it's very fact.
I share your issues with the hyperdroid1.7 version. Smaller buttons, no FM and it's just not as slick as some of the others (HD2ONE and the Ginger_hd one.
I did find some BT files in hyperdroid, some .so files and copied them across. That didn't work though, I don't know what I'm doing. I only chose those because they seemed to be BT files.
It might be time to email 'Pongster' the guy who appears to have put Hyperdroid together from other builds. Nobody responded to me in that thread. I'm a bit reluctant to PM though, it seems to be bad form to me. It's just that we're so close. If we could identify which files it is and simply copy them across then we could ? amend any build..
Do you know of any other 3rd party BT programs? Although, to be honest I'm sick of fiddling (not sure it ever ends with this sort of things though).

when I connected HD with iGo Stowaway Ultra—Slim Keyboard, if I type too fast, HD couldn't follow my input, like I input work, HD only show k, only type very slow, HD can follow, but I try in Samsung I900, It works very good, how can I fix this problem
type slower! lol jk. I don't know. Didn't even realize I can connect the iGo keyboard to this. I'll be sure to give it a try.
I would also check for other BT devices, this problem gets worse if my laptop (with BT) is close. I obviously don't type fast enough as away from the laptop the problem goes away.
I have had this problem, and I am unsure how it was resolved (perhaps not helpful) but I shall speculate.
I had a think outside bluetooth keyboard, which had this exact problem with input that you describe. I have been having problems with three buttons not functioning for a month of so and they finally just stopped working altogether. I love the keyboard so I ordered a new IGO bluetooth keyboard, installed the drivers which came with it, and the keyboard works perfectly without lag.
NOW, my guess is that,
1) the driver is the issue (ie you need an upto date one)
2) I have installed the HD FREEZE FIX which was released. This COULD relate to the bluetooth keyboard as the prob with freezing occurred in the software keyboard while inputing data.
Perhaps this isn't very helpful, but I thought I'd ahre my experience with you and let you know that it WILL work, perhaps try one of the two methods above and see if it helps.

With my old 1.4 ROM I easily paired my Freedom Universal 2 keyboard - instantly recognised under the HID setting.
With the latest 1.66 ROM, it is not seen at all, but when I altered the keyboard's profile to SPP, it was recognised, but then asked me for a password I do not have. I tried 0000, it seemed to accept it, but in fact did not work.
As against which, my old and trusty Think Outside Stowaway keyboard (alas no longer made) was recognised instantly by the new ROM and paired without any drivers.
Has something radical changed in the bluetooth with the latest ROM?

I've been having the same problems too.
Mine could not send a file over bluetooth, it was mp3 8.7mb. But just would not send in resco or default app. The default app said something about the file being too Big!!
I hope this gets fixed quick! lol.
It still plays audio over the netbook still, no problem.

I had my PS3 keyboard working great on my topaz( same bt as HD2?). I was using an energy rom and I had to install BT_HID.cab file and it paired and worked great is was handy as hell. I could play galaga, Dial the phone from across the room, using ear peice, texting was wonderful,etc. All new roms I try on my hd2 (energy, kumar, mirri, elgoncia) non will allow paring of keypad.
The phone sees the keypad, starts to pair , the phone gives me a number to type in the keypad and the keypad leaves paring mode and an error occurs. I tried the bt_hid.cab file on all roms and still no luck. If I had it workind my HD2 would be perfect for me. I want to know if the bt from my topaz can be put on my HD2? or maybe the bluetooth manager? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and it doesnt seem to difficult because topaz and hd2 have same similar bluetooth stack and software if I am correct. It seems a lot of people would like this fixed or patched. I am going to write down what version of what works on topaz and start there. Please help me OBi Wan HaHA

Not sure if this will help you , but other BT keyboards do work on the HD2 so, do not think it is actually an HID driver issue, I use an apple BT keyboard, and a Logitech DiNovo, both work very well ... I had one issue with the keyboard that was very close to what you see with yours, I took the batteries out of the keyboard overnight, it paired the next morning without a problem ....

Thanks for the input. Tell me why there is a great number of people wanting tekosoft to adapt to broadcomm for Hd2 . Loads of people waiting for someting that worked great on my topaz. I have tried the reset button on the keypad. The phone spits out a 5 digit code and the pairing lights on keypad go out. I have tried lots of options. The bluetooth manager looks very different on hd2 than it does on topaz. Since the hd2 sees the keypad it seems like it might be easy fix since I have both phones to tinker with. What rom are you using?
Has anyone made any progress on this i would love to get this working on my hd2

As for the cable to TV, I don't think so.
But wouldn't any Bluetooth keyboard just pair with the Defy, or is that dependent on some profile that is not present on the Defy? I.e. do you own a keyboard and can't make it work, or do you just want to know if it would work?
There is a keyboard from "HAMA" which works...but you need any add-on...

Tried a chinese bluetooth kb ... driver didn´t work.
3rd party drivers did somehow, but have been a pain in the ass in daily use.
Hardware keyboard which would be best in thinking of energy doesn´t because of missing USB Host.
Still: Defy ist the best phone I ever had ... but the road is loohooong ...
A quick Google search suggests there are enough keyboards to choose from. Just check if there is an Android driver and you should be fine.
Don't really get why one would want a keyboard though. It kind of undoes the portability and it seems a hassle to use. Don't get me wrong: I loved the keyboard on my old HTC Wizard. But that one was integrated in the phone which might be a better option for you as well!

- because you need some sort of time machine to get another waterproof mobile with a querty keyboard.
I would have liked a micro one for a adventure trip to proper blog and chat - the phones are nearly usable for that.
It works with Froyo !
Sorry for such a late post. Anyway, I bought this cheap BT keyboard some time ago. Whilst running the stock Eclair ROM, I had to use 3rd party applications to handle it, but never without lots of issues. I had bought it for test purposes, since Android was not listed as a supported platform. But after I flashed Froyo (in my case, the 3.4.3-11 UK ROM), the keyboard just works as it should. After it was paired (the digit sequence specified on the phone - I chose the widely known 0000 - must be entered in the BT keyboard, followed by <Enter>), I just turn the keyboard on (with the Defy's BT radio also turned on, of course) and press any key. The bluetooth link is immediately established, and I'm able enter data to any applications through it.
Just my 2 cents...

Ive got the same keyboard but this does nto work at all (CM10 ) it says its conected, but theres no text input, even with thrid party apps.
useless piece of junk.

Wow! For a long time, there was no posts at all in this thread. Ok, back to business. You see, I'm running CM10 too. In fact, due to some issues, I'm still on Quarx 11/17 build. Anyway, until I saw your post, my keyboard was forgotten in a drawer. I took it off, turned it on, pressed a key, and, although it was already paired with the phone, an entry in the status bar came up, which, upon being tapped, asked me to either allow or deny the connection. After a couple of times answering 'Yes', the bluetooth icon, in the status bar, turned blue, and, from that point on, all the text I entered was correctly taken by the phone, without any issues. Have you gone through this phase as well?
EDIT: have just flashed Quarx's CM10.1 05/27 build. Couldn't find a way to make my BT keyboard work with it. Haven't tried his CM10 new buiild, but as they seem to share all the radio (BT, Wifi) parts, it is most probable that it won't work there either. I'm already back to his 11/17 build.
there's some keybords that works, but it depends on the ROM too.
I had a chinese one, and it was a lot better to type than the touch keyboard, but, for me it wasn't very useful because I was unable to use some accents, and I usualy type in Portuguese.
I bought the Mini Bluetooth Keyboard direct from Chinavision. It works OK in WInMo, but nothing will make it work in Android. I would post the link, but posting rules don't allow it.
Has anyone else bought a similar keyboard (I believe they sell a similar one on Amazon) and got it to work? If so, how?
I can pair it OK, but nothing will make it work. I tried the supplied Android driver, but that won't install properly. I tried the various BlueInput apps, but none will connect at all.
Chinavision themselves are not at all co-operative, so I thought I'd ask here.

Just ordered something simular on ebay and waiting for delivery.
I noticed it said that it wouldn't work in Android v2.2 so I guess it will be a bit of a challenge to get it working.
I tried again today. I installed BlueInput v1.8 and had some results, but nothing useful. A click sound comes from the HD2 every time a key is pressed, as per the settings, but no text.
So, something is happening ...
I'm running darkstone SuperRAM Froyo 1.5 on SD.

cyanogen mod 7. it is a popular custom rom. (cyaongen mod 6 will also work but there are almost no roms around here anymore.)
