[Q] Help me with rooting to android 2.2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello,
I'm new here, and with rooting.
I tried to root my htc dream first, but i failed haha,
So now i have the HTC Leo HD2.
Im really happy with it, but i miss the apps of android.
So i wanted to root from windows mobile into android 2.2
So i rooted and opened the files, and when it boots up it gives much codes, and then it says : Jumping to kernel.
It stops out there and i waited very long.
I only putted the android folder unzipped in my SD card.
But, i readed things of HSPL and the right rom ..
I don't understand those things at all.
So i hope you guys could help me..
Radio : 2.06.51.07
Rom: 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD
Rom Date 01/14/10
Protocolversion : 15.30.50.07U
Manila (?) version : 2.5.19211619.0
Version of OS : 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Dont know if you need this but yeah..
Sorry for my english, i'm only 14 years old and from The Netherlands.
Thanks in advance!

You need to change your radio to 2.XX.50.XX version. (2.14.50.xx is fine)
You are using the word "root" wrong. HD2 android builds are already rooted, you don't need to do anything. Just update your radio. (first flash HSPL before attempting to update radio)
HSPL from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
Radio from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Also after those you need to flash a new winmo rom. Your winmo rom is too old. For example: Energy rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784

@memin1857 thanks mate!

I've a problem it says this when i try to install the HSPL:
CRITICAL ERROR
Flow: 00000001
Error code: 00000002
Description: USB Connect failed!
But ive my phone into the usb.. :S

make sure youre connected to windows mobile device center.

Start the phone-> Connect with ActiveSync

You have to install MS Active Sync (dunno if it's free, got it on my business notebook) or something that enables you to establish a connection with your phone via Active Sync.

Setting Tytn to 2G only after Rom upgrade. Now it will not connect to BES

I am hoping that you can help me out with a little situation that I may have created on my HTC Tytn.
I was using the original ROM that Shipped with my Tytn and I was experiencing a "slow" device with some audio problems while in calls. Yesterday, I decided to upgrade. I installed SPL-2.10.01ipro. as per the warnings on the page (thankful that I have not bricked my phone) Worked perfectly for allowing myself to upgrade to what I think on the downloads page was the most current "stable" rom. Currently my Tytn is running the download listed below.
Upgraded HTC English Qtek_001
Rom 2.11.255.1 03/07/07
Exp Rom 2.11.215.102
Radio 1.38.00.10
Protocol 32.71.7020.12H
OS Build 15673.3.3.1
AKU 3.3.1
SPL 1.11
HTC BOOT 108
I have to admit, the unit runs great. Problem though, on the old OS, I was able to, under phone "band" select "2G". The reason for this is the Blackberry Connect software that I need to run for my work. (Or else I get assimilated into the world of Blackberry handhelds) will not connect as 3G. I have currently set the unit to "auto" for network type ("GSM ,WCDMA) and "auto" for GSM/UMTS Band. Any time I try to change this to anything else the unit comes back with a "Warning" that it can't complete the change. The unit still will not connect and says "Not Connected" under the bb_connect ver 4 status page. I have tried to install the older Rom back to;
HTC English
CID Q-TEK_001
ROM 1.18.255.3 7/22/06
ExtRom 1.18.255.106
Radio 1.03.03.10
Protocol 32.34.7010.01H
OS Build 14955.2.3.0
AKU 2.3
SPL 1.11
HTC_BOOT 1.04
I'm not sure if I can keep the upgraded radio and Rom versions and simply change the OS version but when I try to change to the complete rom above I get an error (260): UPDATE ERROR
"The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone. Please Check your USB Cradle/Cable is connected properly between the PC and your PDA phone"
The connection is good as I have been using active sync to install things like the blackberry software.
I am spinning my wheels here. I thank you in advance for any assistance that you can provide.

Help - newbie wants to upgrade

Hi all.
I start by contemplating the fact that there are quite some portuguese members arround.
Força Portugal
I just got hold of a O2 Xda Orbit. It has windows mobile in english and I want to put it in portuguese.
I don't know how
I have been reading about the ROM's in portuguese but I am afraid of just upgrading without knowing what I am doing.
That is why I am now requesting you guys to point me in the right direction

You do need ActiveSync for XP or older, or Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista (download the latest version from Microsoft).
In general you have to do the following steps:
1. Connect your Artemis to the computer using a USB cable.
2. Do NOT make a partnership. If you get a wizard or popup, just cancel/quit it.
3. obtain the rom of your choice (it sounds like you've allready found a PTG rom)
4. make sure your Artemis is CID unlocked. If not, use artemis USPL for this.
5. run RUU.exe or RomUpdateUtility.exe which is usually provided with the rom. If not, find a recent version HERE. If you use a RUU.exe not provided with your rom, just remove the old rom (a large file with the extension .nbh) and put your rom in the folder with RUU.exe
6. Follow steps on the screen. Read the information / caution rules, press next a few times, then press update.
7. The Artemis will go into boot loader mode (first a three color screen, then a grey one with a white/blue progress bar)
8. wait some time, until the wizard says you're finished
9. The Artemis will reboot. Wait for it to completely start windows, then do a hard reset (push both softkeys and the reset button, release reset button after a few seconds). This way you make sure your rom gets flashed well
10. Wait for the progress bar to end again and for windows to start
11. Start calibrating your screen and customising windows to your needs.
This should do it

Trying to upgrade my Artemis (WM6 Official ESN) to TouchFlo or WM6.5

Hi, to everybody:
I have got a HTC P3300 device (Artemis) purchased in Spain in 2006, unlocked, so I've got no problems on that.
It's was updated by me to WM6 Professional (OS CE 5.2.1620, Build 18125.0.4.2) using official ROM for free devices.
ROM Ver.
ROM Ver: 3.13.412.1 ESN
Date: 8/28/2007
Radio ver: 02.94.90
Protocol ver: 4.1.13.44
ExtROM ver: 3.13.412.102
Now I would like to upgrade it to a cooked ROM like Shady's new ones with WM6.5 or another one with TouchFlo but I can't, altough I've tried almost everything. I'm not a newbie and I work like developer so I understand the most I read but now I'm completely lost; let me explain to you.
My laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) installed and I know that this OS(and Vista) have problems so I also tried on XP Professional SP2 without success.
I tried to upgrade the device using the exe directly and trough USPL (from this site and others) but nothing works. I always get the same 2 errors; normally when I use USPL I have error 260 (connection) because the device doesn't go to bootloader screen and if I restart the device into bootloader manually, if the update process starts (not always), it reaches less than 5 or 10% returning a 270 error with message "File corrupt".
I read a lots of in this forum and similar ones checking steps one by one, even trying to update/install USB drivers for Vista but nothing works. When I use USPL, screen goes to black and "unkonwn device" plugged in to USB port is detected on the system so I think the problem is the program can't put the device in correct state, but if I activate bootloader by my self "Sync Device" appears in devices manager but I cannot go futher as I said before.
Do I must make a downgraded to original WM5 and start from it (maybe a problem with loader version)or there's anything that I forgot?. If someone knows a link or think that I missed some step, please help me.
Any kind of help would be appreciated so much. Thank you in advanced
Solved!
OK, here I am!.
Finnally I solved the problem. The issue was that I had have to "do a hard reset before" try to update the ROM. I read somewhere that an application locked the device avoiding the ROM upgrade. I just went to settings > system > emtpty memory and since then I was able to upgrade like the posts said .
Best regards

6 minutes between your first and second post and u say: finally i solved the prob!
hahaha
good to hear its working again
Can you post a link for the WM 6.5 version, i found two files, but couldn't install
in the rom section u can find a few wm 6.5 versions.
unlock your phone with USPL and then follow the installation instructions of the roms posted
shady313 and babbelut roms are the most current ones based on 6.5
neither of them have touchflo support though but babbelut rom has spb shell, a different kind of touch cube system

SPL 3.03 isn't compatible with HSPL sir.
But you can run Android on your Stock Rom 3.14!
Hmm. I've got spl 3.03.0000, can run android from sd... But am getting the 'robot voice' on calls, even though I hit CLRCAD before running Android.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
cP
Edit... Just tried a different version of android & it works perfectly. No HSPL req'd.

Hi, I am a complete n00b at this but I have spl 3.03.0000 as well on my HD2 and I want to run android with sense - considering the FroyoStone Sense v3.2 like you have.
Before anyone completely grills me... I've done my research and downloaded everything I needed up until I came across a few posts on xda about not needing HSPL3 and radios etc if I had spl 3.03 on my phone because Android can run on spl 3.03.
I came across this post and didn't want to miss the opportunity to ask. So my question is, do I still proceed with flashing HSPL3, installing a radio, flashing a custom WinMo rom (ie. Energy's rom), format sd card and putting Android on it, then do the CLRCAD and haret to run Android?
Or (correct me if I'm wrong), can I simply format my sd card and put Android on it and do the CLRCAD and haret in order to run Android, without doing anything to my phone?
I do appologize for being long winded, it seems like we both have the same spl 3.03 and want to use FroyoStone Sense v3.2, and since you got it to work, I wanted to know how you did it.
Any help would be must appreciated,
Cheers!!
When you have SPL 3.03 on your device, don't tray to install HSPL. installing HSPL over SPL 3.03 isn't possible.
and installing a SPL 3.03 ROM over HSPL will limit your program memory to +/- 50Mb. (except on T-mous devices)
Android is compatible with latest stock ROM (SPL 3.93 / Radio 2.15)
If you have robotic voice, try to change the Kernel version.
You don't need to do something special on your device in this condition. Just format your SD card and put Android on it, and run the CLRCAD and haret in order to run Android.
Nah, is there any chance to install cooked rom on SPL 3.03? I had a problem with volume up button, it didnt work and I gave HD2 to HTC and they returned it to me with SPL 3.03 not 1.66 as I had before. :/

yep, you can have cooked roms on spl3.03 by sspl. sspl will fake the spl version just for flashing purpose but not really change anything, thus no impact to warranty. search it in the rom forum and you can easily find it.
Is it possible to downgrade software? For example if I'm running 1.66 now and wish to try the newest rom but find that I do not like it, could I downgrade back to 1.66?

Please help to find soulation.
Ok first off I think you probably need to update your Windows Mobile ROM cause you have a older ROM and this could be the cause of not being able to boot your SD Andriod build to work on your HD2. Go to HTC.com and look for the latest official ROM for your HDW T8585 but make sure it is for your spacific phone, you should have to varify by typing in your serial number or something like that. Download the update and flow the instructions to flash it.
Also please post some more information about what you have tried to do and what the exact problem is please.
Here's the fast, easy way to do it, you'll have to read up for more ramifications and options:
1) flash HSPL
2) Flash the WM6.5 ROM of your choice
3) Flash 2.15.00 radio
4) put the SD Android build of your choice on SD
that's all, you will dual-boot just fine.
just run clcrd and haret when you want android.

Edit : Must be an official rom
well yeah I was assuming you wanted an actually good WM6.5 ROM and not the crap stock.
I will try & inform you back thanx.
I can tell you know the problem was your radio, once you update it to 2.15.00 you will run Android fine.
Thanx to all for support. I found the solution.
I did the follow:
1ST : RAN HSPL3_PKG ; MAKE IT (SPL-2.08. HSPL)
2ND : INSTALLED RUU_Leo_HTC_ARA_1.66.415.9_Radio_15.37.50.07U_2.10.50.08_2_Signed_LEO_Ship
3RD : INSTALLED FroyoStone_Sense_V2 (Android folder) into SD Root.
Working great but only 2 thing:
a) calling or receiving calls there is a buzz sound.
b) after download update from internet by wi-fi, it's asking me to install. but device keep restart ????
----------------------------------
I will trying to find a good & stable OS
find my rom update
I need arabic support for Android?
any one can advice me?
OS : Windows 6.5
OS on SD Card: Android 2.2
