Devs for Xperia X8 - XPERIA X8 General

Do we have some devs here who can port eclair/froyo to Xperia X8.
I wish we could have a new forum for this device......

Not until the bootloader is cracked,as mentioned before elsewhere
Sent from my E10i using XDA App

any news about X8 updates so far?! and any kind of 2.x update for it?!

The only information we have, is that the update will come before the end of the year...
So as we know SE it will come on 12/31 23:59...
It would be great if we E15i Users get our own forum, so we dont have to pick out interesting threads from the X10i an mini pro forums
Edit: Here is a 2.1 X8 Discussion thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825228

thanks for the info and greetings back to austria

Let's resurrect the topic. Now we see that custom ROMs are possible even without cracking the bootloader. Jerpelea and Zdzihu proved it. But they do not have X8 so they can not make custom rom for it. do we have developer with X8 in this forum? If so he can contact jerpelea and zdzihu and port their ROM for X8. I am ready to help with tests or any other way but unfortunately i am not developer.

I have managed to boot X8 with rom from sdcard.
Spoke to both X10i developers and they have given advice on porting their solution to X8.
To build CM/Froyo rom from source, we need the boot.img and system.img from original X8 rom.
Not sure how to get that .. once we have that, I will cook the rom and it should be working ..

I posted a request for a X8 section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9221577#post9221577
Let's hope it gets done.

We can get system.img using the commands listed in this article:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Unpack,_Edit,_and_Re-Pack_Boot_Images
In our particular case mtd0 is the system partition so if you run "cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/system.img" from adb root shell it will make system.img on your sd card. Unfortunately boot partition is not visible so we can not get boot.img this way.

I did that, kitchen does not like the file I've got, it says system.img is damaged or unknown.

For X10 you can get system.img from sony ericsson developer site:
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wportal/devworld/search-downloads/android?cc=gb&lc=en
If you download "Sony Ericsson Xperia™ X10 add-on for the Android SDK" you can find system.img and recovery.img inside.Unfortunately i do not see such file for X8. Maybe it is not released yet.

Sorry some offtopic. Somethere was topic include voting to open bootloaders x10 and x8. help me, plz: i can't find it

Seems its a hardware job

I don't get it. If they have the bootloader locked down, then why do they realese this stuff?

the bootloader access is restricted to prevent people from trying to tinker with the X8 i'd guess, must still be some kind of loader in place though for future updates via SEUS

MODs if u think this is a bad idea u can delete this threat...
Hi all go to THIS link and i have posted their a request to add xperia 2010 series in rom manager and clockworkmod recovery to support officially,as our bootloader is unlocked!!
My point is we will not get ROM manager app official support if they don't get much requests...
So really request them to take advantage of Unlocked Bootloader!!
And u all comment on their page or my post as a request!!
And request them if possible in other ways...
And also replay to this threat

Well, you should know that FXP is working hard on porting CWM already, with this you ignore all FXP's work.
All Xperia devices will eventually get ROM manager official support.
But you have to be patient.
And X10 won't get flash recovery support never anyways. Neither will any Xperia device because:
1) it's built in ramdisk
2) you can't flash boot partition on phone directly

[HOW-TO] Flash kernel with CWM/TWRP

How-to for flashing **stock** kernel with CWM/TWRP without Flashtool on locked bootloader.
By using this way you don't need to use stripped ftf.
Of course you can't flash custom kernel with locked bootloader, we can flash only stock kernel.
[EDIT]
Added instruction for rpm
1. Extract kernel.sin and rpm.sin from ftf and open Flashtool
2. Go to "Sin Editor", select kernel.sin and click "Extract data"
Do same for rpm.sin
{

}
3. Download View attachment cwm_flash_kernel.zip (this zip only contains lines for kernel.elf) or add this lines to your updater-script:
Code:
package_extract_file("kernel.elf", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot");
package_extract_file("rpm.elf","/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpm");
4. Add kernel.elf and rpm.sin to root of zip
5. You can flash it with CWM/TWRP now.

All custom kernels needs unlocked bootloader.
Is that possible flash kernel via Cwm. cuz i read somewhere xperia device cannot do this.
I want to flash a custom kernel go along with Rom, on my Arc, but dont want to use flashtool/fastboot all the time.
how to do with .img? change .img => .elf is the way?
i'll try and report.
We are talking here about xperia z. For arc you have to find boot.img partition adress.
I will take a look at my moms arc later for proper address.

You can flash kernels with any bootloader status
When booting the kernel, the phone checks if it's an official sony kernel or not (because sony encrypts kernels using a private key, while custom kernel devs only have a public key). If the bootloader is locked and the kernel is not signed by sony, the phone refuses to boot and is basically bricked (don't know if you can unbrick it with flashtool)
So, you can flash the stock kernel through CWM, but i'd probably just advise to flash with flashtool... Because you might accidentally flash a custom kernel and brick the phone
Question ?

[Request] Sony's Android Concept Marshmallow Build 2085

Hello everyone,
As you know Sony give us a Concept Rom based on Android Marshmallow. It should have been only accessible to 10 000 people, but, Thanks to @Jozinek, @jenkins-84, and @russel5 every possessor of an Xperia Z3 Compact can flash this rom, using Flashtools or using custom recovery.
Among the tons of great things that this rom contains, Sony gives us OTA update. Initially the rom started on version 2058 and everyone could update to 2085 BUT Sony cut, for an unknown reason, the OTA update.
Some people have been able to update their rom BEFORE Sony's update cuting, and this is my request :
Someone having a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact using Sony's Android Concept Marshmallow updated to MRA58K.Z1.2085-somc, rooted or not, with custom kernel or not, please contact me, via this thread, or via PM, so I could try to make an flashable update for everyone stuck to 2053
[NEWS]
Hi there, some people send me, or are uploading their 2085 files. Thanks to them for responding me !
In the next hour I'll be working for the 2085 flashable zip, if all goes well, between today and tomorow, it will be available !
