Hi all,
I found that compared to the HD2, the camcorder function of the S200 is VERY bad, basically very blurry when there's motion. I've tried searching the registry for something that determines the bitrate/fps of video but couldn't find anything definitive.
Does anyone know a way to increase the quality of the camcorder?
I think there is little you can do about.
The camera of neotouch is very poor and so is video recording... It's a flaw u'll have to live with if you stick with the neotouch...

Don't work with EzInput - just switch to other keyboard before starting camera.

i tried that mod and it works flawlessly, camera recording is fluent as it should have been since day one.
there is just one single bug : shutter sound cant be disabled eventhough i ticked the option to disable it.
is there any work around ?

Just rename the file "ShutterSound.wav" in the Windows folder or delete it.

Thanks for the cab, seems to work very well.
Also pushing out the little plastic lens protector in the back cover seems to improve things as well, mine had marks that couldn't be cleaned off it

The plastic lens decreases the picture quality very noticably.
Also decreasing the light value reduces the chances that pictures are blurry

With regards to the camera I found the following. If you have SPB shell active and you press the camera button to activate the camera, it also presses the fist item on the spb shell screen (in my case the clock or depending on the screen a contact or widget adjusting screen). This doesn't happen with WM standard UI.
I find it strange that nobody else noticed this. I use the stock acer 3.003c rom and have this problem with spb shell 3.5.3,3.5.4 and 3.5.5
Anyone else noticed this?

yes. there is a solution. just disable tap to edit option in shell dttings.actualy i donot remeber the exact name.

As the former poster tried to explain. There's no solution but to disable "click and hold" in SPB Mobile Shell settings
Settings --> System --> last item "support click and hold" -> off
that way the camera press won't interfere with the click to "edit layout" function. A minor hassle indeed but a hassle nonetheless.
Oh well, for the price. The S200 ain;t that bad. It's weird that the next model in Acer's WM-line, the P300, is LESS capable (and much slower) than our beloved Neotouch? But it does get a newer WM6.5?!?!?! What's with these morons? Just keep the S200 in your line-up and goddamn keep selling it. Soon all those Android ppl will return and they need a Windows Mobile phone NOT a Windows Phone phone!

I played with my cousins htc apache/Sprint 6700 before i got my 8125 and one of my favorite things about the camera was the panoramic mode which allowed you to stich up to three pictures together right on the camera to create a nice landscape picture. I figured since the wizard and apache are basically the same that the wizard would have this feature as well but much to my dissapointment it doesnt. Is there anything out there that will add this feature to the wizard? Im not that familiar with registry edits but it seems like something could be copied from the apaches registry to add to the wizard and make this feature available. Thanks for the help

I found in my registry that profile 6 (P6) had also the entry
"enabled" set to 0.
I set it to 1... and the panoramic icon appeared in the sequence of modes of the camera.
I has also specific settings like "left to right", "number of stitches"...
Unfortunately I could not make it work. May be it was because I did not know how to operate this mode.
Any one had discovered / tampered with this or had it already activated.
Any ideas on how to make it work?

In the other thread that I open on this in the Artemis forum others have reported a different behavior that I found in mine... they achieved to build a panoramic pic but then the camera exited. Mine did not exit but just took a normal photo.
It is probably disabled because of being on development.
Nevertheles, it would be great if we could get the soft from those other devices in which it is in operation.

Since my Universal is dead I've just brought an HTC Tytn.
There is any way to access the front videocam? In Universal you just need to go to camera app and choose the front camera, where you can take pictures and make videos.
In Hermes camera app you can only access the 2.0mpx cam... I've already installed Coolcamera 1.5b and I still can't choose the front VGA videocam.
Any suggestions?

I had same problem, but some folks have said coolcamera can access front camera - maybe someone can let us know how it's done with coolcamera?

yup coolcamera let's you access it, you just switch from main to frontcam, you can take pics and all using it.
photo / settings / sensor / front
If you go into settings there is a setting called "Sensor" ... you need to change that from 'Main' to 'Front' and then it will capture from the front camera.

Also, Probably me being dense, I can't seem to get the web cam to actually work on my pc.
I can set the IP address in the pda to that of my PC. The port is 2047 on both devices, but nothing seems to appear.
What am I doing wrong?

Difficult to say. Presume ypu have used d-pad or jog wheel on device to select webcam mode. Presume you have started the coolcam software on your PC and a coolcam window (which is expandable) has opened on your screen with instructions as to the next steps to take. And finally that your active sync connection is live. Sometimes I get the window on PC coming up blank/black in which case I close PC application and restart it.
The little 90 symbol on screen should rotate image. If not and restarting does not make it work, I think I'd reload the software.

On CoolCamera forums support said that the rotaton issue is a bug they're aware of and will fix later. Nothing you can do for now.

I wonder though why it affects some and not others. Mine is ok - rotates fine.

Hi, did anyone noticed that maximum Tytn's backlight is much dimmer than Wizard's? But it seems that it is only a software block because when you start Camera application, brightness goes much higher.. It's not matter of life and death, but it quite annoys me.
So.. Do anyone know if there is some way how to enable higher values? Probably some registry fix or something like that...

Yeah.. nice program.. but unfortunately it is still just trying to bypass the problem by using the camera application. So when Vjlumos is running you are unable to use the camera.. There must by some other way. I hope somebody will find it..
But still.. It is a great program
There is another way, but remember that the extra brightness is tied to the camera functions.... I've been thinking about rewriting this app to turn it into a service so it takes less resources.
If and when, I'll try to make it camera independant. But the problem with that is that it will be device specific ie Hermes.
But then I thought, meh? Whatever, it'll still be better!

This is a great app. However for me, I'm able to use the camera without having to disable the app. I just hit the camera button to access the camera function, then hit the camera button again and was able to take a picture. With that being said, once I exited the camera function, the screen was dim again and I had to hit my VJLumos icon twice (once to disable, once again to enable) to get the screen back to its brightness. Currently a small price to pay.
Vijay, nice apps. Even if you make this app specific to Hermes, I think you'll have a lot of satisfied people. Thanks for great apps!
It seems this has now been officially released. The build is 6411. I tried but I can't find any differences between this and the leaked build.....but then again it was working fine for me with no issues.

I found the different is... when I install this new version on my x1. The 3D accelerator option disappear.

I think it's gone completely....that either means it is no longer hardware accelerated or it's autodetect as not ALL devices will support it.
in my opinion, MobileShell 3 is a flop... too many defect.

the only differences i have found is that the x button now works without it freezing the handset and that its a bit quicker and smoother. but have not found anything else which is a shame as i was expecting more from the offical release compared to the beta (what now seems like a near final release with one or 2 bugs to iron out).
I will try the new version and hope it will fix my Facebook via Wifi and X Button freeze bug. But like I understood Ganondolf the x button works fine what is absolutely an improvement.

mine fires up when i hit the today screen panel. kind of convenient for me.
ok so my first imptrssion: its awesome! has the look of cupcake (sorta) cool widgets and super slick interface.. glad the panel button wrks again
did have a few probles with the shell, seemed rather slugish if u wanted to switch back to today or exit the shell and restart it, seemed to take a while. also... anyone else notice if u added any widget regaurding the camera it did nothing.. wouldnt open at all im using R3a camera tho.... couldnt change icons at all... which is rather annoying considering the features pocket plus 4 gives u for adding/changing icons and their names..... i uninstalled due to the speed of the shell and the inconvience of the icons and widgets ..... i hope they make sum tweaks .... such a beautiful shelll. and very finger friendly
ok. P.S. and... does anyone know if you can add today plugins like widgets? this would be awesome too add google search as a widget... couldn't figure out how... thus why i reverted back to just plain old pocket plus...

yea...tried it for about a day, and i think i am going to uninstall it now. It amazed me at first, but i think the old combination of pocket plus and today plugin already does the job for me anyway...
the facebook integration here feels pretty useless too....

Since i have installed spb3 , when i make a call, it automatically opens tomtom.
It is very annoying.

It seems that I can't add any programs of my own choice in the predetermined categories of the launcher (Internet, Tools, etc.) or add my own category. Or am I missing something? This is what made Mobile Sheel 2.x interesting and customizable. If this option really is gone I think it's a weird choice.

All these changes can still be made. Adding/Deleting from the default menus needs a registry key added per folder. Subfolders can only be created in the registry at the moment. I don't really use this much but I imagine (so I don't know for sure!) that the GUI will have this functionality added in future releases.

But the old version had this option as a regular function (the menu button in tab Advanced)! It seems weird that in a new version one is forced to revert to editing the registry.
Spb Mobile Shell 3
Works fine on my X1, apart from multimeadia. None of the camera links launch the camera application. Anyone else found this problem
One of the "accidental" features of our phone is that the camera "flash" can be used as a GREAT flashlight when you're out in the dark. I probably use it once or twice a week, and I am sure I am not the only one. I was wondering however, if it might be possible to enable the LED without opening up the camera program.
Since I have winmo 6.5 installed, I was thinking about maybe taking advantage of the Titanium plugins, or perhaps even a mortscript application to make the flashlight a homescreen option. I'm new to phone modding, but I have coding experience so it shouldn't be too hard for me to figure out.
If this seems possible, I am willing to put in the effort of making it, but I'd like to know if it seems doable before I start coding or anything.

one year ago i tryed to find an API to write a little application to poweron/poweroff the camera flash led but without success.
can anyone share with us some experience about this?
in alternative you can use an application called plamp that use the screen like a camera flash led. it is not the same but it is useful, also configuring an hardware button.

i used to use a mortscript that would launch teh camera then turn on the flash after 10 seconds it will auto close the camera app.
only down side was that the camera app would take about 10 seconds to load anyway (for my phone) so it was not a instant flash light.

Yeah that's part of the reason I would like to just skip the camera app altogether. It would be nice to have the light on quickly and not have the camera on.

The method to control the camera flash is device specific. At this moment, no one know how to control the ipaq 612 flash light

Basically, the camera flash can be controlled in this way:
Use CreateFile() to get the Camera handle :-
CreateFile( _T("CAM1:") ....... )
then, use DeviceIoControl() to send command, this is the most important step, I don't know how to fill the InBuffer in order to turn the flash on.
