Possible to add panoramic mode to camera like the apache? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I played with my cousins htc apache/Sprint 6700 before i got my 8125 and one of my favorite things about the camera was the panoramic mode which allowed you to stich up to three pictures together right on the camera to create a nice landscape picture. I figured since the wizard and apache are basically the same that the wizard would have this feature as well but much to my dissapointment it doesnt. Is there anything out there that will add this feature to the wizard? Im not that familiar with registry edits but it seems like something could be copied from the apaches registry to add to the wizard and make this feature available. Thanks for the help

anyone?

that's a good question, I would like to know the answer too.

I'd like to see an implement for this!

oh that would be so awsome plus it would make the camera a lil more fun to play with considering the quality isn't too much to brag about (both still photos and video mode) :?

anyone have an actual solution for this...it has to be possible

Just a initial Hint: Registry edit
I have an Artemis.
Following the kind of reasoning http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=292560
post #7
I found in my registry that profile 6 (P6) had also the entry
"enabled" set to 0.
I set it to 1... and the panoramic icon appeared in the sequence of modes of the camera.
I has also specific settings like "left to right", "number of stitches"...
Unfortunately I could not make it work. May be it was because I did not know how to operate this mode.
Any one had discovered / tampered with this or had it already activated.
Any ideas on how to make it work?

Just tried to do the same thing, got a dupe of Burst mode...
Which OS do you have installed?

My SO version
Artemis (HTC P3300) Spanish
WM5 5.1.342 (build 15096.3.0.0)
In the other thread that I open on this in the Artemis forum others have reported a different behavior that I found in mine... they achieved to build a panoramic pic but then the camera exited. Mine did not exit but just took a normal photo.
It is probably disabled because of being on development.
Nevertheles, it would be great if we could get the soft from those other devices in which it is in operation.

Change Backlight Button to Camera flash light

Hi all,..
Is there a way to change the Backlight button on the universal so it activates the Camera light on the back of the device instead of turing on the backlight?
When possible the Universal becomes a pocket flashlight. Now when I want to activate the universal camera light I need to start up the camera software, It would be much quicket to just press the Light button to enable and disable the bright camera light. The Light button is now unuseful to me because the backlight automatticly turns on when tapping the screen, so no button needed...
anyone got a idea?
Best regards,..
Arjan
Now thats a damned good idea!! The backlight button is useless anyway.
Anyone here got the skills, I am afraid that I am just a lowly win32/KM developer...
Whats the best way to get into WM2005 coding?? Does it still require you to install 10,000 toolkits, or does Visual Studio 2005.net have the nessesaries? (if work ever sorts out our MSDN sub that is!)

..... please?
As an almost entirely unrelated aside, you guys know that my program VJLumos, for the superbright screen, works on the Universal?
Doesn't make that much difference because it already has a nice screen.

Hi Buzz,..
Seems you know all about this schit. Can you tell uss if this is possible?

True, true... but the camera flash is trully bright!!! Even more than the screen!
I've checked the Win32 Mobile API and found nothing, so the solution must be in one of the HTC DLL's!
Disassembling Camera.exe in IDA didn't give big results neither... :?
I'll continue my reseach and post the results here!
Just wanted to keep this close to the top of the forum,
I would love this feature! Please please pretty please

would be great to have a portable flashlight with me all the time
Still triying, but until now, no success...
buzz_lightyear, can you give a hand here?
Realy hope anybody can find it out because this would be really great!!!
But can it be fixed?
Will this be possible?
not that I really know too much about all this kinda stuff, but MortPlayer refuses to recognise the button with a lightbulb on it even if you use the option that allows you to specify a hardware button by pressing it. Does this mean that this button is somehow hidded frm WM5 or am I being silly?
//Xi
MusicPlayer can recognize the button, I think it takes it as some kind of function button (F4 or F6 or something like that), so is definitely possible to use it.
I actually use it, after adding it to the registry. The button code is C8, so you just have to copy paste another button, and change any CX occurence to C8.
Key is HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell/key/40CX
OK, so that's taken care!! Now to find HOW the camera turns the flash light on... I'm sure it's some kind of API..... :? :?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/e..._7effd1fa-1b3e-41ba-b176-42cb16dae7d4.xml.asp
i think this is done at driver level....
we might need to hook up with the camera driver dll, disassemble it and get the function names....
and then, need to write an app which will link up the dll at run time and call the fn....
apart from that, theres no simple way to do so using MS provided sdks for wm5....

I agree!! But I don't think that WIA is something to go thrue, since that applies to Win32 only!
That link was from the Desktop Windows DDK. The windows mobile DDK is a different beast.
I suspect the API will be similar tho. I very much doubt whether the camera app is going to directly call an IOCTL down in kernel mode to control the camera light (that would be crude!) It will be doing so via a user mode API. The key is going to be to find which DLL handles this and what the function name and format is!
Unfortunately although I write Desktop Windows drivers, I have not got the first clue about windows mobile programming - dont even know what tools to install!

Just noticed something very odd: WM2005 emulator does NOT have camera.exe!!!
Camera.exe is the picture taking app on the WM2005! Where the hell is it?? Only on real devices (my Exec has it)?

Screen Brightness

When I open the camera application on my I-mate JAM/HTC Magician, the screen goes bright for a second when the camera app. is about to open but it goes back to slightly dull after i close the camera.
I have maximum brightness in the settings.
Is there anyway to make the screen stay bright just like the second before the camera opens?
There are at least a couple of ways to do this.
One is VJLumos, which I don't recommend.
Another is VJLumos II - which is being released in a few days.
V
Thank you! Awaiting the release of VJLumos 2. How soon do you reckon you'll release it?
Magician version is done, and works great. Just tweaking the Universal version (which also works, but needs a little refining). Release hopefully around this weekend or so.
I don't have a wizard so can't support it for now, unfortunately.
Implementation is cool now, automatic superbrite every time you switch on, and no more risk of a hard reset  I was showing Mrs Vijay555 yesterday. She wasn't impressed I'm so misunderstood...
V
oh lol sigh. I had a look at your site...people should praise your talent more often
Anyway, why don't you share the Magician one now
I thought I had it on my ftp but I don't, so give me a while and I'll send you over a beta, if I remember. If you don't get by tomorrow, PM me.
V
Ok then...i'll be waiting. Thanks!
hi all
i'm very interested to by this soft. I was looking for this since 1 year so it's very nice you done it.

Announcement!
Hi,
I've been investigating in the brightness hack and could finally track down what's necessary to enable it. This is the real way to enable it, which means no unneccessary DLLs are loaded and you're no chance of risking a soft reset because of this. The other advantage is that if you have your camera hardware removed this hack still works - on a Magician at least. I hope I can try this hack on a Hermes next week (don't own one).
I'm almost done creating an app like VJLumos II. If it's ready I'll post it in this forum.
Cheers.
PS: I was experiencing a hard reset during my research... so I hope you can esteem what I immolated
Ok, here it is.
For the moment this is for Magician only! And even on them you run this at your own risk!
This app is very freaky - it has no (obvious) dependencies and therefore loads fast like hell. Although being already ruddy slim and thus perfect staying resident it doesn't. But it accepts four parameters which are as follows:
on --> enable SuperBrightness
off --> disable SuperBrightness
install --> install a OnWakeUp event
remove --> remove event
Again: this app does not load anything (and consume memory) nor does it expose you to risk a soft reset.
Nevertheless I still encouter the odd behaviour, that Magicians without the camera hardware do not get superbright on WakeUp.
ahh vjays555 worked for me..
might prove usefull when im using my magician as a GPS..
oh btw, i tried chatty's program first and all i downloaded was 'attatchment. php'

No problems here - got a zip with one exe and 4 lnk's as it was supposed to.
Some news about our backlight:
Well, above a certain a minimum level brightness can be controlled continously from dark to (super-)bright. Keypad light can be controlled independently, but on/off only. Another news: absolute minimum is still a little darker than official (Control Panel) minimum. So if you're in for a little book reading under your blanket this could safe your eyes a little more. So currently I'm thinking of a new cmdline app which offers you to set brightness in all possible levels (super-dark to super-bright).
I dunno when I'll find the time for it, but is anyone interested at all?
pick me!
heheh, i use msn messenger and type up notes in the dark, it strains the eyes. Sometimes i watch movies on it in plain darkness.
Would be a cool utility to have. Dont know if anyone doese the same things i do, Since its so hard to sync for me through bluetooth.
Bring on the interest!.
Whitemoo.
I got a wicked idea: how about flashing a new brightness dll into the living device like it is done with the splash screen? The usual brightness control panel applet would then operate in the wider range and this hack would not eat up any memory.
Whohoo... exciting... lots of work to do, but interesting project.

I would like to be able to program one of the buttons to turn on the flash, it takes too long to sometimes open the cammera so I would like to get the flash to go on.. (and on the brighter light also).. any ideas, links?

Nope - no solution as of yet. Your best bet is to go to the following thread, and choose "Watch this topic" at the bottom.. then just follow any updates to it:

Just to make this clear - at the time of this writing, vijay's utility does not work on the HTC Wizard. If anybody has an HTC Wizard to spare to send to him, he can probably make it work
any news on this one ?
or has anyone an idea where to look in the registry for it ?
i really like to have a litte prog or shortcut key for the flashlight to
function as a flashlight
vj has one
if you would read then u should have noticed this little part of text which says: vijay's utility does not work on the HTC Wizard.
offcourse i tried it and many others and even tried to alter the program
but since no-one knows what keys involved i thought i might bring this to
attention... hopefully someone will try and find this out as i think many
people would like to have this feature.

I'm tired of enduring the vsync disabled!

hi all,
Sorry for my bad english...
During scroll or when i play in game or when i watch a video, i have the "breaks" of crappy, this is very very irritating for me ! I don't understand why everyone ignores this.
The only thing I find on the web is this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=500499

I saw this too,but it happens only when I slide open the phone in some apps.
I have same problem in my x2,and can't find any way to solve it ,I search vsync in registry, change 0 to 1,but it also ''screen tearing''
ps,x1 seem not has this problem...
What can we do to solve this?
Sorry to my bad english.
Warning: I have placed only the non-HTC tweaks here and HAVE NOT TESTED THEM YET. Any changes you apply or programs you use will be at your own risk!
I would have tested this already if I could but I will only be able to after a few days when I get my new X2 (again). I just wanted to give possible solutions besides turning on Vsync.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Activating VSync only will not solve your problem because screen tearing is usually caused by a combination of bad video and file access configuration.
To answer your request here is what I found for the VSync registry location (please confirm this):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Display\LCDC]
"Vsync"=dword:1
And here is a list of possible tweaks for the X2:
Original post by g.lewarne is: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629388.
Change:
HKLM/System/GDI/GLYPHCACHE To: 524288 (change both keys in there)
This allows for much smoother font rendering, especially when scrolling
Change:
HKLM/System/StorageManager/Filters/fsreplxfilt/ReplStoreCacheSize To: 131072
This creates a filesystem 128k sector cache filter, improves data throughput from ROM to RAM (probably) and does seem to improve indexing response and file browsing.
EDIT: file explorer just loaded my “Windows” directory in half a second with this enabled , and the screen does not tear when scrolling the list either any more
Change:
HKLM/Drivers/Display/VMMaxHeapSize To: 33554432
This changes the VideoMemory max heap from 16k to 32k
Change:
HKLM/Drivers/Display/Settings/SMI2 AllocSizeMB To: 32
Change:
HKLM/System/GDI/Drivers/Bpp To: 24
Now this IS interesting. I dont know if its just me, but were HTC holding out on us display wise? Changing the BitsPerPixel (colourdepth) from 16 to 24bit, for some reason, whether the display is actually capable of true colour or not, not only MAKES THE SCREEN LOOK BETTER but its also FASTER

Finally a tool for boosting graphics:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704
Can somebody test the above a provide a feedback thru all the points Xareth suggested us?
I'm not able to do this my X2 is not available for a a month or so.
Who is coming up with these crappy settings? Most of them are NONEXISTENT in my X2!!! And many of the rest are already much higher!
This is not a HTC phone and has no such hardware and NOT most of those HTC specific windows registry settings a HTC phone has.
Please post only registry settings and changes of such, which are existing in the X2.
Thank you!
I agree.
I think all that Xareth says, comes from the HD2... But I tried to add the non-existent keys => nothing !
And i have already tried GfxBoost, NeoS2007 and SpeedBooster, this hasn't solved the problem.
I think that without hardspl, nobody knows anything do
What happens when you try to help and warn in CAPITALS that you have not tested it.
Thank you all for your replies to my post above.
First of all, really sorry to have disappeared but I have entered a new job and have been busy as heck to reach a stable setup.
Even though the testing of the reg keys failed, I am happy that it at least has gotten us closer to finding a solution since we found out they did not work
What next? Well, what else! Gotta try to find other ways. This time I can test since I have my X2 and am using it regularly.
@lo: don't give up, don't assume it's the end! I am now checking if it has to do with the SD card access (delayed reading).
@michaelthemage: I know you are frustrated and want a working answer at once, but:
1. this is a community forum not a support centre so don't assume I or anyone else is making up any crappy settings. We're just trying to find the right answers.
2. and yes, I can make mistakes just like you or anyone else. For example you did not read my first line saying I did not test the settings since I did not have a device to test with! Demanding much?
3. I don't think we can limit things to X2 only registry settings because first of all, it's not out there in the open to know which settings are only for X2! I removed the obvious HTC reg keys and went on from there. I think that is the next best thing to finding an answer, instead of hitting a dead end. I ask you to also try to find an answer or at least post something more constructive.
4. Sony previously worked with HTC (HTC was making the components for previous Sony devices) and therefore it is logical there may be some HTC keys which are applicable. I will tell you right now many fixes that work for HTC work for the X2! Have you ever wondered why? Of course I may be wrong too but I'm trying to find out if I am!
5. Let's go on to hardware. Many smartphone manufacturers are only integrators. Even HTC buys its parts from another company in China. So don't tell me it does not have similar hardware to HTC until you have opened both companys' phones and confirmed (which I have btw, the opening not the confirming). It's like saying LG Laptops do not have LCD screens like Samsung Laptops when Samsung manufactures the LCDs for LG.
Get a life!
Dude, I don't have the time nor inclination to answer this crap in several paragraphs. Still these reg settings are crap and somebody posting this crap is responsible if any noob applies them and screws up their phones. That is the crap! That's it!

increase camera bitrate/frame rate

Hi all,
I found that compared to the HD2, the camcorder function of the S200 is VERY bad, basically very blurry when there's motion. I've tried searching the registry for something that determines the bitrate/fps of video but couldn't find anything definitive.
Does anyone know a way to increase the quality of the camcorder?
I think there is little you can do about.
The camera of neotouch is very poor and so is video recording... It's a flaw u'll have to live with if you stick with the neotouch...
doubt it...the camera just sux..
Xakep from acer-club.ru find the answer -
Camera from 1.002c is faster then from 3.003c(b)!
acer-club.ru/Foto-Videokamera-s200-t461-page-360.html
Don't work with EzInput - just switch to other keyboard before starting camera.
capture mode: "Photo" or "video", don't try "anti-shake" - it's not work with this..
Deleted because of the error.

there is just one single bug : shutter sound cant be disabled eventhough i ticked the option to disable it.
is there any work around ?
thanks for that mod btw

LOL thank you for this patch, you can really appreciate the improvement!! (form very crappy, to ammm... not really bad)
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the cab, seems to work very well.
Also pushing out the little plastic lens protector in the back cover seems to improve things as well, mine had marks that couldn't be cleaned off it
yep, i did the same
The plastic lens decreases the picture quality very noticably.
Also decreasing the light value reduces the chances that pictures are blurry
Thanks for sharing. It really improved a lot.

With regards to the camera I found the following. If you have SPB shell active and you press the camera button to activate the camera, it also presses the fist item on the spb shell screen (in my case the clock or depending on the screen a contact or widget adjusting screen). This doesn't happen with WM standard UI.
I find it strange that nobody else noticed this. I use the stock acer 3.003c rom and have this problem with spb shell 3.5.3,3.5.4 and 3.5.5
Anyone else noticed this?

As the former poster tried to explain. There's no solution but to disable "click and hold" in SPB Mobile Shell settings
Settings --> System --> last item "support click and hold" -> off
that way the camera press won't interfere with the click to "edit layout" function. A minor hassle indeed but a hassle nonetheless.
Oh well, for the price. The S200 ain;t that bad. It's weird that the next model in Acer's WM-line, the P300, is LESS capable (and much slower) than our beloved Neotouch? But it does get a newer WM6.5?!?!?! What's with these morons? Just keep the S200 in your line-up and goddamn keep selling it. Soon all those Android ppl will return and they need a Windows Mobile phone NOT a Windows Phone phone!
