Rank the chef - the critics speak [New Froyo Survey] - Liquid S100 Android Development

Okay - I am now using my 3rd Acer Custom Rom image and was thinking of making the jump to a Froyo image. But how stable/usable are the new Liquid-F ROMs? One thing I thought might be useful to users and might provide feedback to the cooks is a survey to rank user experiences with a particular ROM.
Would something like this be of interest to the cooks out there?
Click here for ROM ranking survey
I created this survey for the LCR series images because those are the ones I have used (and I would like to see the feedback for the LCR-F 1.0). If this is of interest to developers I could update the existing survey with other ROMs or create a new survey for other ROMs.
If the survey generates any responses I will post the results in this thread.
See post #5 for a F versus F survey.

BTW the authors of the LCR-F ROM is Malez and Vache. LCR-E is Malez/Vache/Piter1225 (I think).
My rankings for LCR-F (been using it for about a week now)
The first 2, I choose the best option u had
Battery Life- Usable

First 11 responses -
Question 1. Rom Version:
LCR-E (Eclair) - 1.7.3 = 0
LCR-E (Eclair) - 1.8.1 = 1
LCR-E (Eclari) - 1.8.2 = 1
LCR-F (Froyo) - 1.0 = 9
Question 2. Baseband Version:
A1-04.01.01 = 1
A1-04.01.01 = 0
A1-05.01.05 - 9
Question 3. Rank the stability of the ROM.
Very unstable = 0%
Unstable = 0%
Minimally stable = 9.1%(1)
Stable = 54.5% (6)
Very Stable = 36.4%(4)
Average Score - 4.27
Question 4. Rank the functionality of the ROM:
Non-functional = 0%
barely functional = 0%
functional = 9.1%(1)
Quite functional = 36.4% (4)
Very functional = 54.5%(6)
Average Score - 4.45
Question 5. Rank the battery life:
Sucks a lot = 0%
Sucks a little = 18.2% (2)
Usable = 54.5% (6)
Good = 27.3% (3)
Mr. Fusion = 0%
Average Score - 3.09
Based on this, I'll upgrade to Froyo. I found the LCR-E 1.8.2 with the 05.01.05 baseband a significant improvement over 1.8.1. I expect Froyo to be a big improvement in performance over Eclair due to the JIT compiler, I have just been waiting so ensure it is stable as I use my mobile for business.

I recommend this Froyo release : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801853 .
I did not find any problems. Works fine.
/use for business/

Updated - I have a survey for the various Froyo images - but I'm just not sure which F-Roms to include. Currently I am using LCR-F 1.0 and am quite happy with it (mostly due to improved performance and familiarity with the LCR stock UI).
I'm open to suggestions of what Froyo images are popular.
Liquid Community ROM: LCR-F 1.0
Latest Acer Leaked Rom: (4.504b ??)

XI – FAQ
Q: How do I get my ROM/kernel listed on here?
A: Your ROM/kernel must meet all the requirements to be listed on XDA. Along with that it must be listed on XDA in the proper Thunderbolt Development area with the latest release listed in the title of the thread so I can easily know when a new version is released. Finally you must properly credit anyone else's work. I will not tolerate listing any ROMs/kernels that kang from other developers and not give proper credit where its due.
Q: How can I submit info for my ROM?
A: Just private message me here on XDA with any info you want me to include with your ROM infos such as developer credits, potential chat room for discussion for said ROM, and other infos you would find of use to the listing. Also if you want me to update any info about your ROM you can private message that to me as well.
Q: Okay I got questions to ask about ROMs such as which is the best one to use... where can I get answers?
A: The best place I recommend is to post in the Thunderbolt Q&A area here on XDA. Be sure to click on the "Yes, this is a Question" option as well when putting together your post asking your important question.
Q: AOSP? CyanogenMod? Debloat? RUU? What does all this gibber talk mean?
A: The Thunderbolt Root User's Dictonary maintained by MattBeyers does a great job at explaining all of this.
Q: What happened to Chingy's ROMs? What happened to Team BAMF ROMs? Why are they no longer listed?
A: All three have for various reasons decided to leave XDA. Therefore by XDA rules I can no longer list them. I greatly apologize for this.
Q: What happened to KDKobes ROMs?
A: Due to KDKobes kanging from other developers I am no longer listing those ROMs.
XII – THANKS AND CREDITS
Demolition Man would like to Thank ....
First and foremost thanks to all the developers for all the hard work that has been put into all the amazing work. With you developers we would have none of the amazing ROMs, kernels... let alone this listing wouldn't exist.
Thanks to both XDA for letting me start this listing, Ryanmo5 for
helping out, and MyComputerDoctor for taking over running the listing.
Thanks to the numerous contributions from members on both forums including some great feedback which has help make this listing even better. I might not have said you by name but you know who you are. Trust me I'm very thankful for all your feedback.
Thanks to Blizzard for creating the worst crack ever... World Of Warcraft. Thanks to Major League Soccer. Thanks to the city of Pawnee, IN especially their Parks And Recreations department. Thanks to Mountain Dew Throwback for giving me some fuel when updating the listing. Thanks to Ring Of Honor. Thanks to both the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings.
And thank you all XDA and Droid Forum members for all the support!
MyComputerDoctor would like to Thank ....
I would like to start off by thanking Google for creating such a unique Operating System. One that grants technology lovers like us the opportunity to modify and create a "personal" user interface.
Obviously, without the Developers, a list like this would not ever exist. All your tireless work does not go in vain. Thanks.
Demolition Man, I have been using your list since the day I received my Thunderbolt in the mail. Your database was my source for up-to-date information in regards to Thunderbolt Modification.
If you enjoy using this list as much as I did, please let me know and hit the "Thanks" button. Happy Flashing......

Hey guys. Not sure who ever watches this thread, but any way you can update it? Thanks.

[REF] ROM, Kernel, Kitchen & Modem List - Galaxy S II (07/04/12) TIME FOR UPDATES!
Hey everyone!
The last ROM List I saw was last updated in July, so I thought I may as well make a new one and keep it updated. However, this includes ROM Kitchens, Kernels and Modems too!
If you find that I've missed anything, something has been updated behind my back, or if you would like your ROM or kernel added to my list, PM me. Anything old or outdated, I haven't included in the list. If it gets updated behind my back and I haven't added it, hit me up with a PM and I'll add it.
BEFORE you even THINK about flashing any of the ROMs, Kernels, or Modems below, read the following guides:
Rawat's EFS Backup guide - This guide will instruct you on how to backup your EFS folder on your phone. This folder contains all the information that is specific to your phone such as the IMEI, MAC Addresses and other sensitive information. The thread goes into more detail about it.
wilk22's Guide to Android and the Galaxy S II - This guide contains a heap of useful information for both the beginner and advanced user. It's a good idea to read this before flashing anything. It will help.
pulser_g2's Galaxy S II FAQ - Name says it all. A lot of frequently asked questions about the Galaxy S II answered in one place.
Hacre's Original Development vs Development - This picture based guide explains the difference between the Original Development and Development sections.

KERNELS
Siyah Kernel
Features:
All-in-1kernel because it supports CM9, Samsung and MIUI ROMs with a single kernel image.
Custom CWM touch recovery with swipe gestures
8 freq steps (100MHz to 1600MHz)
3-step GPU frequency levels. Samsung default is 160-267 whereas SiyahKernel default is 160-200-267 which saves power without sacrificing performance.
Auto-root. You can also remove root via ExTweaks app and install it without rebooting your phone again. Auto-root can be disabled as well.
CPU Overclock/Undervolt support (we have two interfaces for that. both of them are defacto standard)
Tweakable vitalij's value (set to 5 as default)
Fixed fuelalert wakelocks
You can completely disable android logger using ExTweaks app
Faster charging for misc and USB modes. There are 3 modes (AC, Misc, USB) and normally last two of them support only slow charging. You can have charging speed of AC by increasing it (especially user while charging in car or using USB port)
Cpu governor optimizations
Gpu voltage, clock and stepcount interfaces (GPU Overclock/Undervolt)
Tegrak's touchmove support.
Brightness curve settings with original panel gamma values. panel values unchanged, so you will get stock colors and will be able to use supercurio's voodoo display app when it is released. brightness modification will only change auto-brightness response.
BLN support both for Samsung and CM9 ROMs (use BLNControl app from the market to enable it)
Better touch sensitivity (especially while charging)
Available CPU Governors: Ondemand (default), Pegasusg (new hotplug aware governor from Samsung), Lulzactive, SmartassV2, Interactive and Conservative governors added
CIFS
Available I/O schedulers: CFQ (default), noop, Deadline, SIO, V(R)
J4FS as module
ARM topology support (SCHED_MC)
Automatic EFS Backup
Lots of I/O tweaks and filesystem optimizations via some parts of thunderbolt scripts.
Voodoo louder support (already default in all kernels but people ask it if it is supported)
USB Mass Storage mode is working in CWM Touch Recovery
built-in profile support with default, battery and performance presets (you can change them in CWM Recovery). Even using everything default will save you a lot of battery juice.
Almost everything is configurable such as scheduler features, hotplug thresholds, GPU frequencies, voltages, arm topology modes... and they are configurable via simple and free ExTweaks App from Google Play
Current Version: 3.0
Supports: CM9, Samsung, MIUI
Developer: gokanmoral
SpeedMod ICS
Features:
Root and CWM:
Automatically installs root (su) but can be disabled
CWM recovery 5.x
Screen and misc tweaks
init.d, TUN, CIFS, IPV6 Privacy support
Performance:
CPU governor tweaks: increase responsiveness
IO tweaks
Read ahead tweaks
Compiled with optimizations using Linaro GCC toolchain
Switched to SLAB instead of SLUB
Multi-core aware scheduler SCHED_MC
Turned off unnecessary logging for better smoothness and efficiency:
Disabled Android Debug Logger / logcat
Disabled Samsung debug
Disabled various kernel debugging, statistics and tracing options
Current Version: K3-9
Supports: Samsung
Developer: hardcore
N.E.A.K ICS

I have (mostly for my own consumption really) started putting this information (and everything else I can find about the Galaxy S2) in Wiki format. Feel free to help me keeping it up to date for the benefit of everybody.

I don't mind the least bit and I sincerely hope someone will help updating that list.
Personally I have always found that a forum - such as this (even if this one is not a bad example) have an extremely low signal to noise level. It takes way too much digging to find precisely the information needed. In my personal opinion - wikies are actually better suited for providing information. A great example is this page: http://nookdevs.com/Portal:NookColor which basically contains all information you'd ever need about hacking the Nook Color. I had been googling around for a android hacking wiki but didn't find any - so decided to throw one up. However, I do realize that if I am the only one editing it, it won't ever become anything but my own random notes (which is what it is right now). But with other users helping with the edits it could at least theoretically turn out to be a great source for information.
So - I appreciate that you added it to the list and I sincerely hope someone will pick up the idea and help adding and changing the wiki.
---------- Post added at 10:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 AM ----------
Originally I had configured the wiki to require registration before edit, but in the true wiki spirit I have now disabled that - so anybody can edit it. If that result in too much vandalism I'll just swap it back again.

Help me help the guy above me! If you don't like my layout, you can use that list instead. It's a tabular layout on a wiki page. Update that page with the info you find in my thread and\or your own info as well!

I've been looking everywhere for a compilation of this sorts... and I'm glad somebody has colated this info... good place to start instead of searching for [ROM] and getting a message that search is down for maintenance...
a tabular overview would also be helpful, with if its based from samsung firmware, cyanogenmod, feature list, kernel included, etc.
Wait.. Was this phone even out in January?

I've currently listed if its based on official Samsung firmware or CyanogenMod base under the "Base" However there are only three listed so far.. CyanogenMod, MIUI and the letters and numbers for Samsung firmware (XXKG6, XXKH3, etc)
I'll look into adding kernels and features
I might not add ALL features, but some generic ones like Odexed or Deodexed.
Edit: Failure at Multi-Quoting established.

Thanks for the threat. Nice info for those who wanted to know custom ROM for SGS2. This should be stick up.
Awesome... subscribed and bookmarked...
Coz of this I've stopped searching and decided on going "insane" (insanity ii)
makes it so much easier to look for a rom in one glance and decide based on a preference; mine being cm7, stripped down.

This would be a great thing to have, and it is what I'll most likely throw into the third post however that is a lot of information. Possibly if it could be slimmed down to only a few lines. Like including only the important bits.

I vaguely remember seeing a thread for the Oxygen ROM somewhere in the s2 forum. That's missing from your list.

Rom for p700

What is best ROM for P700?
There's no.such thing as best, its up to you to decide which is the best.
For me, KK IS not good for our device but I would recommend cyanhacker and LS, but not the milestone version, the 2nd to the last build.
So better go with JB, Slimbean or. Touchwiz ui-cm10.
hi !
this sort of question is forbidden by the XDA rules in theory ,but i think it's an interresting question for our devise ( in exeption) because it begin old and it's a poor hardware . In the story of this section ,there are lots of projects discontinued too ...
"stable" (best) ,for me ,it mean that all work fine at 100%,project finished, and all "smalls" buggs are fixed ..... but "he best" doesn't really exist because depending the taste of everybody .
objectively :
- The best way is the last CM10 nightly with Phenom kernel ( and with some mods and personalisation ,it's fabulous !
there are the last "Touchwiz ui" made by Optima-Team for example too => it give a real "fresh air" with the very popular Samsung's Touchwiz style ! great idea !
- Slimbeam 4.1.3 build "3" by tudorsirb ( + Phenom Kernel compatible in theory ) is an another best way .
- It seem that there are an another rom who seem very good :
the last Beta of CM10.1 by tudorsirb ( with this kernel by feedeemanchini : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49631750&postcount=3 ) because it seem that she is updated with last update sources before the end of the official project by CM-team ( => the date of the last CM-sources compared to the date of tudorsirb's last beta release ????!!! )
-all CM10.2 (and roms based on it ) are unstable ,unfinished ...
but this one seem great => http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=720226
for KitKat :
- Liquidsmooth v3.2 Milestone by IMER is full finished by sources and "seem" work very fine ( the best way to have a good KK ) ! (not tested by me) but for all KK the very big problem is that there never have had "good"and performant kernels ( "principaly" based on old THLG ones ...)
- CM11 by IMER is discontinued ,not updated since the begin of November 2014 ==> real pity ! the best alternative for to have a "simple" & "modern" KK 4.4.4 with enought ibnterestings parameters on LG "L" series
with a great kernel + Samsung Touchwiz "S5" transformation , it would have been FABULOUS !!!
- cyanhacker :somme people have given good feedbacks ...

ROM Reviews By XDA Members

The Development on Samsung Tab 2 has been EPIC, all thanks to our dedicated developers specially @Android-Andi @CCD @Markox89, we have so many Roms till date that it's really a hard time for anyone to go through all of them to check which one will suit a users need.
General Guide for Choosing Different Roms
Pure Performance.
If you want pure stock experience of android, AOSP, OMAP4, and Slim Roms are the Ones you should be looking at. these Roms, have the least bloat wares and are just the right combination to give your device the lightest feeling of all and the best performance on stock. No other Roms would be able to beat them.
Cons: less features, you will have to rely heavily on 3rd party apps to add the features, customization which you might be missing on the device. In some cases, these don't get updates very often.
Stock Experience
Stock Experience plus features, plus themes?. Plus Updates? well look no further, Cynogenmod Roms are the base of most of the Roms. These are the Ones which are important for the development of all the other Roms. if these are stable, all would follow. If you're an average user, you should choose them, if updates and solved bugs are your concern, these would be the first ones to get. they just get better and better by each update.
there are two builds in our community
Cynogenmod by @Android-Andi The master and the lead developer.
Cynogenmod by @Markox89 The magician
Cons: Although these Roms offer the best of both the world, they still lack few extra features and customization that some of us who aren't satisfied easily would like to have.
Custom Experience
This category has Roms which would have the most features than other Roms, they are good looking, full of tweaklings. so you can show off your old devices with these roms.
they are Omnirom, Candy Rom, Bliss Rom, OrionOs, Tipsy, Beanstalk.
Cons: Some of these Roms, are not actively developed or their development has stopped, and are stuck on previous builds which had bugs and aren't being improved any further.

Performance Review and Custom Kernel (OC) Testing
Greetings,
I find that the default features and settings implemented by different ROMs often make my tablet "feel" faster than it really is.
The following, is my attempt to "quantify" this subjective perception of performance, when testing a new ROM/KERNEL on my tablet.
Device:
GT-P5113 (also known as 'P5110' or 'espressowifi')
Recovery:
espresso-common_TWRP_3.1.0-2.zip
Tools:
AnTuTu 3DBench 6.1.1.apk
AnTuTu Benchmark 6.2.7.apk
Geekbench 4 4.0.4.apk
Kernel Adiutor-Mod 1.0 build 07-18-2016.apk
Notes:
Start using Geekbench in addition to AnTuTu for benchmark/comparison for Marshmallow (CODE=MM) and Nougat (CODE=NG) ROMs.
Start using Worksheet to tabulate/sort results (File, Saved as type: Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Worksheet).
Start using Combined (Score) for AnTuTu and Geekbench results to enable "global" sorting/comparison of ROM results.
Results:
Please refer to Worksheet (Attached) for Results (Updates).
Thanks.

[ROM] [UNOFFICIAL] [SLIM BASE] [7.1.1]Slim ROM for Natrium [ALPHA]

Hi,
Here's is SlimROM for the Xiaomi mi5s Plus aka Natrium.
This has been taken directly from the SlimROM Github with the device tree from Lineage...
I would like to stress that, without the magnificent work done by Luk1337 on the device source, this could never come true !
As many will know, SLIMROM is one of the oldest ROM on the custom ROMs planet. It's a really sleek one : do not expect a ROM loaded with customization options. It's simple : there are almost none.
But what you get is a small and smooth ROM that will take you close to pure Android experience.
So what has been tested here :
- FINGERPRINT => working ;
- RINGTONES => working (but beware : select a ringtone to have a sound !) ;
- NOTIFICATIONS SOUND => working (same as for ringtone : select a notification sound) ;
- INCOMING CALLS => working ;
- OUTGOING CALLS => working ;
- WI-FI => working ;
- BLUETOOTH => working ;
- NFC => working ;
- GPS => working (but I think my device has a hardware problem on this, so can't tell for sure) ;
- YouTube, Play Music... => working ;
- CAMERA PICTURE => working ;
- CAMERA MOVIES => working ;
- DEVELOPER OPTIONS => working (fixed).
- ABILITY TO CUSTOMIZE HARDWARE BUTTONS => not working (I'm in touch with more skilled devs to iron this out !) ;
- BRIGHTNESS SETTING : works, but I think the scale is somewhat wrong (doesn't dim further when there still way to go) ;
- TRANSFORMERS GAME => crashing randomly (Adreno blob problem it seems !)...
This is all I have tested so far, but I'm sure you guys will find out other things not working.
If so, please remember that I ain't no dev and that I only offer this "as is".
Also : my device is going to ad site soon (hardware malfunction reported above) so this may well be the one and only build available. If someone is willing to build further in case I suspend it... I'll try to help.

CAUTION :
It seems that the latest mods to source relates to wrong Adreno Blobs which may cause instability when used intensively like when playing heavy games.
So game may crash...
[THIS MAY BE FIXED SOON]
If you use this ROM, please report.

Hi,
Yeah... It seems I have forgotten to put a link to the build
Thanks for drawing my attention to this !!!
Link is now added into OP.
So I uploaded a new build with the Hardware key configuration now showing un in settings.
Still have to find out if that thing about "Adreno" (GPU) doing nasty things is still there
Regards.

Hi,
As I said : Transformers Iron Forged isn't stable.
Seems related to bad Adreno blobs included in the last vendor files
Will try some other games and see if I get the same results...
And will try some other ROM's to check if it is ROM or sources related.
Will look if there is an update to that, but that is beyond my league
Regards.
Thank you very much for the work you have done.
Hi, better than RR ?

Hi,
Both ROMs cannot be compared.
RR is loaded with almost EVERY FEATURE you can only dream of.
This one is really close to simple AOSP with some added features (like ability to customize Navigation buttons), but really little.
My hard drive died on me... so I can't really continue to build at the moment.
But if you want a Slim Based (Slim has always been my ALL TIME favourite with Tipsy-OS and Dirty Unicorns) ROM that is closer to RR, you should try Tipsy.
It also has loads of features, is really stable and is really under development...
Plus : I have direct access to dev of that ROM, so can get help to iron out bugs in case it's needed
I will of course build a new Tipsy-OS as soon as I get my hands on a spare hard drive
Regards.
Hey NexusPenguin,
I guess you are still stuck with the dead hard drive?
Cheers
