[ROM] [UNOFFICIAL] [SLIM BASE] [7.1.1]Slim ROM for Natrium [ALPHA] - Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Oth

Hi,
Here's is SlimROM for the Xiaomi mi5s Plus aka Natrium.
This has been taken directly from the SlimROM Github with the device tree from Lineage...
I would like to stress that, without the magnificent work done by Luk1337 on the device source, this could never come true !
As many will know, SLIMROM is one of the oldest ROM on the custom ROMs planet. It's a really sleek one : do not expect a ROM loaded with customization options. It's simple : there are almost none.
But what you get is a small and smooth ROM that will take you close to pure Android experience.
So what has been tested here :
- FINGERPRINT => working ;
- RINGTONES => working (but beware : select a ringtone to have a sound !) ;
- NOTIFICATIONS SOUND => working (same as for ringtone : select a notification sound) ;
- INCOMING CALLS => working ;
- OUTGOING CALLS => working ;
- WI-FI => working ;
- BLUETOOTH => working ;
- NFC => working ;
- GPS => working (but I think my device has a hardware problem on this, so can't tell for sure) ;
- YouTube, Play Music... => working ;
- CAMERA PICTURE => working ;
- CAMERA MOVIES => working ;
- DEVELOPER OPTIONS => working (fixed).
- ABILITY TO CUSTOMIZE HARDWARE BUTTONS => not working (I'm in touch with more skilled devs to iron this out !) ;
- BRIGHTNESS SETTING : works, but I think the scale is somewhat wrong (doesn't dim further when there still way to go) ;
- TRANSFORMERS GAME => crashing randomly (Adreno blob problem it seems !)...
This is all I have tested so far, but I'm sure you guys will find out other things not working.
If so, please remember that I ain't no dev and that I only offer this "as is".
Also : my device is going to ad site soon (hardware malfunction reported above) so this may well be the one and only build available. If someone is willing to build further in case I suspend it... I'll try to help.

CAUTION :
It seems that the latest mods to source relates to wrong Adreno Blobs which may cause instability when used intensively like when playing heavy games.
So game may crash...
[THIS MAY BE FIXED SOON]
If you use this ROM, please report.

Hi,
Yeah... It seems I have forgotten to put a link to the build
Thanks for drawing my attention to this !!!
Link is now added into OP.
So I uploaded a new build with the Hardware key configuration now showing un in settings.
Still have to find out if that thing about "Adreno" (GPU) doing nasty things is still there
Regards.

Hi,
As I said : Transformers Iron Forged isn't stable.
Seems related to bad Adreno blobs included in the last vendor files
Will try some other games and see if I get the same results...
And will try some other ROM's to check if it is ROM or sources related.
Will look if there is an update to that, but that is beyond my league
Regards.

Thank you very much for the work you have done.

Hi, better than RR ?

Hi,
Both ROMs cannot be compared.
RR is loaded with almost EVERY FEATURE you can only dream of.
This one is really close to simple AOSP with some added features (like ability to customize Navigation buttons), but really little.
My hard drive died on me... so I can't really continue to build at the moment.
But if you want a Slim Based (Slim has always been my ALL TIME favourite with Tipsy-OS and Dirty Unicorns) ROM that is closer to RR, you should try Tipsy.
It also has loads of features, is really stable and is really under development...
Plus : I have direct access to dev of that ROM, so can get help to iron out bugs in case it's needed
I will of course build a new Tipsy-OS as soon as I get my hands on a spare hard drive
Regards.

Hey NexusPenguin,
I guess you are still stuck with the dead hard drive?
Cheers

Hmm, yes, but would like to hear from another tester first. Baseband error seems odd.
What are the features of this Rom?

Edit :
+ => very fast , smooth and light (something like 10 apps and no gapps) / cool bootanim and fonts / close to the slimroms / free ram and omniswitch
- => miss some tweaks and translations (of course) / ad blocking / apn (data) / 2 or 3 more little things
Good work ! for a first release , it's very impressive and interresting !
Keeping an eye on it !

I have flashed the rom on a S4 mini gt-i9195 with stockrom 4.2.2. The Validus rom looks great and works also good exept for some reason the broadband got wiped or the rom couldn't see it, so I had a phone that worked with wifi but I couldn't make calls because the service was not installed. @martinusbe made this rom for me but we cant figure that broadband issue

I don't know about a thread in development yet since i don't have the device.
Going to see after 6.2 is released.
p.s. Could you give @Wim N a hand, this is the first time he flashed a rom on his device, and the baseband seems to have gone missing.
Maybe something is wrong in the rooting/recovery....

Here comes the feedback:
- Autorotation doesnt work. Maybe kernel related.
- Some lag and instability but this could very (most definitely) well be the bidji kernel. (Havent tested on stock kernel)
- Everything else works fine.
- Betterylife is fine, nothing crazy.
- Botton backlight works
Will test tomorrow with stock kernel a few minutes to confirm sone issues maybe. But I like the battery life of bidji kernel too much to not use it.
What does this rom do different compared to other cm like roms? I couldnt really find any major pros or cons. Just very cm like but not from cm I guess. I really hate that they have edited the default launcher with their own ugly app drawer icon and removed the launcher options. Luckily we have an appstore with other launchers. I will change rom to DU again probably because of the auto rotate (but button backlight doesnt work there if i recall correctly).
Still really loving all your builds to test compare and tinker with. And the new bidji kernel makes the tinkering and fiddling even more interesting . Hope this feedback helps.

Ik dank je voor uw feedback!
Autorotation: well still a mistery only DU is working, kernel is the same, so frameworks must be the culprit.
For the rest, I just jump into this project cause I found it interesting and different from others but i'm slowly think I was wrong.
Anyway,yes it not cm but device trees are so, bugs will remain mainly the same .
To be honest, not sure I'll keep on long time with this one except if users are happy
At least om my AFH I have some 30 downloads, in their basketbuild, 0...
Een prettige end of weekend!

(I lolled a bit because of you typing Dutch )
Tested again on stock kernel, same issues as before with auto rotate. Something to add why this is different compared to other roms: it is not so much in options but everything that is there is done well. Like all icons and stuff are all good and done and there are no wierd looking menus. So it is a very slick experience IMHO (except the boot logo ugh).
Cheers
Hello Guys,
With Metallium team members, we decided to make those builds "unofficials". This won't change anything for you, builds with remain the same with same quality and improve progressively.
This is a good team and i'm proud to build for them, last post from my dutch mate proves it.
Reasons why this change: i prefer to keep my liberty, to build myself, to post my builds where i used to post it, and so on. Furthermore, i'm official member of crDroid team and it takes me lot of time, and i want to keep the same quality for them too.
So expect new Metallium build at least weekly.
I wish you a nice evening.
Cheers,

The TWRP works fine and can unify the storage. The CM build posted on the oppo forums seems to work no worse than any other CM-derived rom. An LVM aware build of Dirty Unicorns would be awesome. I'm happy to test things because my Find 5 isn't my primary device anymore so I don't rely on it.

I am already running a CM version having LVM and its good apart from Auto rotate which seems to be a bug in CM12.
But another ROM with proper support would be awesome and feel free to get back to me to test the same
P.S: enabling selinux enforce by default seems to be a but flaky

Unfortunately, CM12 has the autorotate issue in all my builds except DU. So what i propose is, first make a test on metallium to see if LVM works then try to adapt to DU, new DU version should come within one day or two.
Thanks for your support.

[ROM][7.1.1][LINEAGE] KryoRemix-Nougat[OPTIMIZED][SMOOTH][MORE!]

I can't help , but exclaim what a journey it has been ! It all started , when I was bent on rooting my Note 2 , and installing the S5 based ROM by team electron , at a time when TouchWiz was at its peak and I was 14 . I vividly remember that moment when it booted up , and I was really relieved ! I then went on to install RR , and was mesmerized by the smoothness and customizability . I thought to myself I will never be able to build a ROM from source like the devs do . But , when I got the Oneplus One a year and a half later , I had tried dozens of ROMs , based on CM , AOSP , and TW . I wanted to myself make a ROM from source , but didn't find any good guides , so I started trying to port ROMs as the guides were better for porting back then . Out of many failed ports , one came out to be real good , when I tried to port Skydragon ROM , and added lots of stuff from team Utopia's HTC app ports . I released the ROM in the start of 2016 , and frequently updated it , until I got busy with my studies . It was almost the start of April , when my 10th std. board exams were done away with , and I was bent on building ROMs from source . Then I saw @Aaahh 's post on the OnePlus forums , in which he had helped someone with ROM building . @Aaahh and @jgcaap were my favorite developers , and to learn development from someone like @Aaahh would be great I thought to myself . I then contacted him via Telegram , and we got to building ROMs within two weeks or so (I blame my internet speed for that ) . I will always be thankful to him .I then continued to release my first ROM , which was Hurricane-AICP , which was a highly acclaimed ROM for the opo . I then got to collaborate with @jgcaap , and I feel really lucky for that . I then got the Op3 in June , and continued my heavily optimized AICP builds for it too , under the name Kryo-AICP , paying homeage to the SD820 . I then again tried many ROMs after that , and saw RR to have drastically improved . I then decided to rebase my builds to RR , but I admit , it failed to hit the mark in the first shot , due to some bugs and rough edges . I now have them cleared out , and am capable of fixing bugs (finally) . I also have almost double the experience of ROM building by now , and without further waiting , let's get to the ROM itself !
Features :
All RR features !
GCC & Clang O3 (Optimized for speed ) !
Optimized Low-level code !
Polly on Clang !
Enabled Graphite and its identity transformation !
ODEXED for faster boot times and better performance !
More Optimizations and features coming soon !

Alert slider working? Echo issue? Feedback on performance / smoothness / stuttering?
Thanks!

OpenBeta 7/9 should work fine.
OK, I installed this ROM with Open Gapps Nano and all is working well so far.
Started from scratch with a clean flash so I'm still setting things up.
One quick question: is there an option to force the volume panel to be always expanded by default? I remember this feature from some custom ROM in the past and really liked it.
Will keep posting my feedback along with the normal usage goes on.

Thanks bro :good:
Just found a little glitch: in Settings app the Gestures menu is listed ad "com.cyanogenmod.settings...." instead of "Gestures".
A second quick question: is there somewhere the possibility to choose the global accent color, or do we have to rely on themes when they'll be available?
Edit: one more: Settings > Additional buttons > Swap buttons get reset at each reboot.
Hey manav, thanks for the rom, it looks very promising. May I ask if you could look at unlink ring and notification tone? I realy miss it in RR N. The only Nougat rom that has it is AICP i think.
Thank you either way.

OOS camera port not working on this ROM... It freezes at every photo taken. Need to exit and restart app...
Hey whats good mate? Glad to see what you have accomplished
Well, here is my impression after a full day using this ROM, started with a clean flash: performance are good (actually was really impressed from the speed of first boot) but to achieve a perfect stutter-free scrolling I had to set battery profile to "Performance".
Doesn't seem to use too much battery at the moment, will report back if anything changes.
I'd love to hear something from the builder about the questions raised yesterday.
Again, thanks a lot for this great ROM!

There have been lots of changes on RR's side , so I'm gonna merge them and release a new build on Sunday or Monday . Lots of device tree improvements are there too , so don't judge the ROM by the first build itself

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][natrium][7.1][AOSP Base] Tipsy OS

Hi guys,
For all of you wanting to try out TIPSY - OS (an AOSP based ROM) on their beloved Xiaomi mi5s Plus, I have made a build.
I think I do not need to introduce Tipsy OS.
You probably all know about that fantastic ROM.
I just would like to stress that I take absolutely no credit for this.
All the credit goes to the magnificent work of Luk1337 : I bow down to him for his work on closed sources !
Of course the rest of the credit goes to the wonderful GZR - Tipsy team... They're responsible for 3 amazing ROMS : Tipsy, Validus and Tesla !
Of course, as I am just a compiler, but not a developer : I can offer no real support for this.
So take it as it is...
I don't even have time to check those builds.
So they're basically blind builds that may not even boot
But without further ado : here's the link...
Enjoy !
LATEST BUILD 2017-06-10 : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0Bz7S7jFQDiz8WGhZX2lBcTA4TmM?usp=sharing
Of course, to comply with XDA rules about sources :
- ROM Source : https://github.com/TipsyOs
- Device tree : https://github.com/LineageOS/android...xiaomi_natrium
- Gerrit to include the latest add-ons from Luk1337 : https://review.lineageos.org/#/q/sta...+topic:natrium
- Proprietary blobs : https://github.com/Mi5Devs/proprieta...m-14.1-natrium
- And of course, the local_manifests.xml file : https://github.com/NexusPenguin/local_manifests/blob/natrium_laos/natrium
With all this you get all you need to compile.
If you're feeling like it, do it yourself
Regards.

Hi,
The ROM boots on my device, but cannot guarantee it will boot on yours.
So please : MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE YOU FLASH !!!
SO FAR I HAVE NOT TESTED IT AND CANNOT SAY WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOES NOT !
Please REPORT things not working.
BUT DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THEM...
Just a statement will suffice !
Regards.
WHAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO TEST :
- Wi-Fi => works
- FingerPrint => works
- Camera => Works
OTHER THINGS : not tested
Downloading right now...... In a time test for me.
Testing ROM and by now It is working very well. It's good. GREAT JOB! GUYS THANK YOU!!!

Hi,
Have the same behavior.
Cannot tell you why. As I said, i'm just a "builder" not a developper
I guess that it is something to do with root access.
Will try to look into it, but can't promise to be able to offer a solution.
Regards.
I'm Sorry builder. GREAT JOB!! I love me this ROM, I like the settings with theme dark.
I tester more late, great job man!
Works very good man but i hate this interface! I love darks themes but i think that tipsy interface ia ugly. But thanks for your time and your efforts.

Hi,
Install Substratum and apply any theme you want
Tipsy isn't loaded with features like other ROM's are.
It hasn't the smartest layout for options.
But it is actively developed by a really talented man !
And as I have direct access to him, I can try to get bugs solved in case they arise.
But so do I for Validus
Regards.
Hi,
As per request, local_manifests.xml link added in the OP.
Regards.
Hi. This ROM for this device is dead?
Robstir said:
Same bug as most of you, dev options just blank screens, settings is always freezing too, pity because the rest is nice and fast, Google Playstore layout is cool with updates, installed and library, but yeah those animations and wallpaper etc Tipsy is ugly with a silly name. No can do if no dev options sorry.

Hi guys,
This ROM is not dead... But I have a hard drive crash and I am waiting for new hard drives to arrive.
Just for those who aren't aware of this : a ROM source is about 40GB and each device requires about 15GB storage more.
As you may have noticed : I am building Slim, Tipsy, AOSP Extended, Dirty Unicorns and Resurrection Remix for the mi5s Plus.
Plus my machine is used by several other builders of others ROMs for other devices as a build server
I think Ishoulld have the new drives tomorrow and so should be able to start building again.
I would like to say that :
- 1°) the blank page on dev options is a problem that is already ironed out ;
- 2°) that opening settings takes time the first time because it needs to get root access ;
- 3°) I managed to add the Slim navigation for hardware buttons
New build should show up this week-end... with all the new features from ROM and device tree and source.
Regards.

Hi,
If you love this ROM, just be patient... for another couple of days
I will publish the latest version with add-ons to kernel (kcal) and maybe the kernel provided by Rodries in the next few days.
Thanks for your support...
Regards.
Hi,
New build as of today is up.
This is a blind build : I don't have time to test it
So use at your own risk, but there's no reason for it not to work.
Regards.

NATRIUM - PROJECT - "A ROM for every week day"

Hi guys,
Now that I am back into the building trend, I would like to start a project called "A new ROM for every week day".
As the title says it, that would be a project that would unite 7 existing ROMs (I'm a simple builder, not a developer) that will get a weekly update each fixed week day.
Of course, in time, I'll give everything needed for each ROM : link, ROM source, device tree source and local_manifest in case someone wants to build for himself
So I need 7 ROMs to build and I would like you to participate telling me what ROM you'd love to get for Natrium.
So far, the ROMs are :
- Validus
- Unleash
- AquariOS
- Dirty Unicorns
AOSP Extended and Resurrection Remix have been supported, but it seems that development and support for those have been dropped. I think Hlcpereira that some bad people stole Hlcpereira's mi5s Plus
So I will also try to keep those alive...
- AOSP Extended for Natrium aka mi5s Plus
So I was thinking about "Cardinal" (which would be ROM #5) and Carbon (which would be ROM #6).
But please, feel free to tell me if this project is of some interest and what ROM you'd like...
Thanks a lot
For ROM #1
Hi guys,
So after all, I'll start with Candy ROM just because this is the ROM with which I started the custom ROM building thing, back when it was KitKat
It's of course provided "as is" as it has only gone through very basic testing : boot, SIM card, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera and those kind of stuff
So if you find a bug, please report gently
Link to ROM : Candy for Natrium
Of course the usual stuff in case you want to try to build and update it yourself :
- the ROM source : CandyROMs
- the local manifest : Manifest for natrium
I guess that's all you need... with a really small knowledge (if I can do it anyone can...) and a decently fast computer (mine is somewhat above decent, but that only helps with build speed).
Enjoy and please report gently in case of bugs
For ROM #2
Hi guys,
For this second ROM I've decided to go for AICP (Android Ice Cold Project).
It's full of features and really nice. But as usual : I have been able to test it more in depth.
It boots, has SIM cards, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and camera working, which is basically the most important.
Could not check on battery life or other stuff...
Link to ROM : AICP for natrium
Of course, shoud you wish to build and update this yourself, here are the links to what you'll need :
- ROM source : AICP GitHub
- Other stuff for Natrium : local manifest
Enjoy and report bugs peacefully... I'm not doing this for myself but to keep this device alive
For ROM #3
Which will probably be Dirty Unicorns... Hope I'll get to build it.
For ROM #4
RESURRECTION REMIX
I know it's already posted somewhere else, but I think there's no new build since a long time.
You can find sources here : ResurrectionRemix
Device tree, Kernel and Vendor are here : HLC Pereira
Finally, ROM can be downloaded from here :Resurrection Remix for Natrium.
Of course, you'll probably need to install some GApps. You can find some here : http://opengapps.org/
I installed this ROM on my spare Natrium. It boots, SIM cards are working, Wi-Fi is working, looks like Bluetooth is working, camera is working for both pictures and videos.
Enjoy and report in a gentle manner if you find some bugs (and with a logcat... If there's none, it'll be difficult to try to fix).
For ROM #5
CARDINAL AOSP
Sources are here : Cardinal AOSP Github
Kernel is here : Lineage Xiaomi kernel
Vendor files are here : Xiaomi vendor
Device tree ready to build is here : Natrium Specific / msm8996 common
Finally ROM can be downloded from here : Google Drive for Natrium Cardinal
Of course, you'll need Open GApps that you can find here : Open GApps
As far as I could see :
- ROM boots ;
- SIM cards are working ;
- Wi-Fi is working ;
- Bluetooth is working ;
- Camera is working...
Now there are probably a lot of minor (or maybe less minor) bugs.
Just tell me and I'll see if I can fix those
Regards.
For ROM #6
Maybe Carbon ROM ?
For ROM #7
AS REQUESTED : AICP
Sources are here : AICP
Kernel is here : Lineage Xiaomi kernel
Vendor files are here : Xiaomi vendor
Device tree ready to build is here : Natrium Specific / msm8996 common
Finally ROM can be downloded from here : Google Drive for Natrium AICP
Of course, you'll need Open GApps that you can find here : Open GApps

As i know RR isnt Official yet, also Unleash seems good idea.
Hi,
I know RR isn't official, but I do not want to interfere with the guy doing it already.
But of course I can add it should you wish me too... Depends on how often that guy is updating it.
Unleash : I thought I could build it, but I am facing an issue in the build final
When i say final, I mean it : it's in building the last 2 files out of almost 100k files !!!
Error is "Cannont find ro.unleash.version in build.prop".
Have to find out how to fix that... if it is an easy thing to do
Regards.
How about stick with building only one ROM and keep it updated once a week for a whole year? We already have too many ROMs and most of them have been dropped.
Do you have the opportunity to port sailfish os?
Cosmic rom port Please
I'd love to get AICP again! It was the only rom without touch lag

Hi,
Will try it, though I guess it will be a little more complicated than that.
But of course, it's worth a try
I'll report a little later.
Regards.
try everything a bit or it would be wrong and better than how we are that it is without anything you dale penguin DU Validus ...
Dirty Unicorns and AquariOS would be a dream for me, and I would donate to you if you keep those thing official :>
Every development project is Welcome, but 7 ROMs for a guy don't you think is kinda exagerated?
Thanks your effort very much in advanced.
I want a RR which will update weekly, so bugs won't remain for a long time.
And NOS is my dream too.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
