To improve your thread, look at some of the other builds and see what they have. There is also a sticky that tells you what you should have in your post.

------------------------------------------
If you are making a Rom with Android built in or an Android Build that is run from haret then please INCLUDE with your file a readme.txt file in the ROOT of your release archive with the following information:
*What BUILD version?
An internal version # that can be used to identify the authors exact release (e.g. my-rom-v0.5.zip) for easier reference for the users and fellow developers benefiting from the release.
*Which kernel image and kernel modules are used?
Where are zImage and modules.ko originally downloaded (in case the chef didn't compile on their own) and where is the kernel source code for the kernel and modules.
In case the chef did not compile on his own, he should still be able find out where the source code is.
(The license under which the Linux kernel is released requires the distribution of the source code that was used when distributing builds.)
*What rootfilesystems are used?
Where was it taken from, what does it include (android version it's based on etc) and in case of self compilation, where is the source code.
(In case of most windows mobile shipped devices that's often some rootfs file e.g. named android.ext2 and an initial ram filesystem often named initrd.cpio.gz).
*ChangeLog*
A ChangeLog is really an essential addition in every build as it informs the end user what modifications have been made from the last build. This will save you ALOT of questions as to what has been added, deleted or modified and therefore is a requirement for everyones benefit.
*WindowsMobile version your Android Build was tested on*
Please include your WinMo Build version, HTC OemDrivers (if known), XIP (if known) and Radio version so that users know what the Android Build was tested on and can replicate if neccessary for fault finding purposes.
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
If you are unable to obtain any of this information and thus can't make it available through an included readme.txt you should not distribute your rom and keep it for personal use only.
If you are using an exact copy of a present release (e.g. in case of a WinCE rom that has an android 'dual boot' option) you must include the readme.txt from the original rom chef.
If you release a Rom and do not have the required information then you will be asked to either create and include a readme.txt file with your Rom or ask for the thread to be deleted.

PPC2003 ROM Device Authentication cracked...

I just cracked the Device Authentication.
I was using our 'dumprom' script and noticed one of the files contained in the new ROM is called 'DevAuth.exe'. Given the window title 'Device Authentication' on the annoying box that told me I could not play with my new toy, I figured the two were related.
So.... If you replace the only occurence of 'DevAuth.exe" in the image with something else (I used "DevAuww.exe"), the ROM will start just fine.
Expect some screenshots soon (Carlos, can you help out?), but first impressions:
- Most importantly: they bought my favourite game 'Bubblets'. It's now called 'JawBreaker' and resides in games. No wonder the guy never got back to me when I asked if I could include the shareware version in the Special Edition ROM...
- Bluetooth in the control panel (ofcourse our device still doesn't have the hardware).
- Windows Media Player 9
- Lots of things have a slightly newer look
- No major functional improvements to phone and other apps that were immediately obvious to me.
So, Let's hope something running linux crack the rom for us.
By the way, is the rom "4.00.05" which provided by Source O2?
If yes, why it display 3.04 on the booting screen?

I guess these version numbers are just put in whoever builds that particular ROM image. They don't mean that much...
Here's the real question: Who will be kind enough to
convert this ROM to a usable one, preferably an .exe package, for the rest of the group. I don't have a Linux box handy today to do this, so anyone who does, please get on it! We are all waiting.....
Is it possible for me to convert the .nb1 file to .nbf without using the sd card as I don't have one? If so how is it done.
sorr forgot to mention I have access to a linux box just need the instructions on how to do it.
I don't know if this message is related to warez or not.
I just want to say if anyone got a cracked image and want to share with us, please upload to here:
ftp address : kellylau.uhome.net
login : kellylau password : xda
Any pic can upload to there too.
The downlaod address would be
http://kellylau.uhome.net/<Filename>
Since the site is quite busy now, it may not easy to log in.
XDA developer Peter Poelman,
excellent. I tried running dumprom.exe on the nb1 image and it crapped out. do i have to convert it to nbf? after u extract the rom how do i rebuild a new one? is it possible for you to post it somewhere to download it?
thanks
alex
PPC 2003 / Ozone comments
All you need to do is load the PPC2003PE.nb1 file in a hex editor and replace the only occurence of 'DevAuth.exe' with something else (e.g. 'DevAuww.exe'), and put the file on an SD with XDArit, use the bootloader to burn it and presto.
About Ozone/PPC2003: I'm seriously underwhelmed. Ofcourse the next version of the Special Edition ROM will use it as a base, but the functional differences between this version and what we have with e.g. O2's 4.17.03 ROM are really minimal. I smell a tick layer of hyped-up marketing covering a relatively minor upgrade here...
I suggest the playful among you give it a try, but if you can live without it for a little longer, stick to the Special Edition, and unless something is seriously more difficult than we think, we'll publish a patch to this to make it "Special Edition ROM v1.2", Real Soon Now.
response from O2
Just got this reply from O2 when I cheakily asked if i could have the latest ROM file:
************************************
"Hi
Unfortunately this download is only available to O2 partners under non-disclosure agreement for trial pruposes only
As soon as the trial is complete the ROM will be available to all of source O2
Thanks for your interest
regards
source O2"
************************************
Looks like we will be getting it for free then - unlike some companies who are charging silly fees for teh download.
Thanks for XDA-Developer again!
I patched the rom and writing it on the SD card now.
I think microsoft will charge for anyone provide the 2003 upgrade, I don't believe O2 will provide the new rom free. If the upgrade is free , it will be the greatest news for all XDA user.

As I said before: do not get your hopes up: this is a minor upgrade with a lot of marketing money thrown at it to make it look like a big thing.
It works!!!
After patching the ROM, I now have Pocket PC 2003 on my Qtek!!!
Thanks!
/Patrik
Hmm, so while I like playing with the latest stuff, it sounds like I should just wait for a 2003 SE ROM. I'm sure we'll have one to try really soon...
Back to the old ROM...
Everything seems to work fine with the new ROM, except that you can't change GPRS authentication method... My ISP uses PAP authentication and there is no way to change to that...
Well, well...
Maybe next ROM...
/Patrik
A little funny thing found on the new rom :
There is some unlisted program on the \windows folder
I tried pacman, it's GREAT ;-).
Also it provided DUAL VOLUME , you can set system / ring volume seprately.
However the rom is far from perfect.
I found 2 major problem.
1. The SIM Contacts is worse that the old SIM utility. It can do nothing every copy all contacts from the SIM to the device.
2. Wireless Modem is missing.
It seems it's still a develop version of rom.
Picture will be post soon.

[WIP] Official CM7 for the LEO! no ETA right now

Ok, so I was following charansingh on Twitter and he posted a link to a CWM zip file for Official CM7 for the Leo, however it looks like he borked part of it up.
So I'm posting this here to see if any dev's can have a go at getting it working.

Hope someone can!
Thanks.
I believe it is true. found the following screenshot and according to charansingh's tweets, it is flashable through CMW.

I believe he's a CM developer, and yes this would guarantee future releases.
Well guys,
Sorry to let your hopes down but I just fixed the problems and this rom is quite terrible compared to MDJ's. It kinda reminds me of one of the first GB ROM's floating around.
Problems.
1. The screen doesn't even turn off all the way, just goes black.
2 the pull down bar is white (like the first GB ROM's).
3. The ROM has zero signal or data, doesn't pick up and at all.
4. You see a white screen when moving through any windows (like the first GB ROM's).
5. It said my 1024 leo has 481mb free left like it's a EU leo.
That's just playing with it for about a minute. It's not worth uploading, just grab MDJ's if you want CM7.
By the way, I didn't add any files to this ROM so it's not my error. I just fixed it so it would flash in CWM.

What would be the purpose of that? It's just Gingerbread. Like in any stock GB build, or in any CM7 build such as MDJ's GB.
I'm currently working with charansingh to fix the upgrade stuff and try to use the new kernel too.
For the moment stay with MDJ unofficial CM7

I'm following you both on Twitter
I try fixing some stuff tonight, will see what was done for other devices to fix those issues, sensors i know are borked, just wait some days n ill have a fully working vendor with regular cm nightlys
Also i think mdj doesnt compile from source but port over any nightly, this is compiled from scratch for leo not any other device, i would like help from some devs in HD2 section though as i dont have device to debug and fix stuff right away
Here is some HD2 specific stuff for you to look at:
http://gitorious.org/htc-hd2-android-libraries/
http://htc-linux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Leo/Wifi#Firmware You might need to modify/change wpa_supplicant binary for the HD2. I've not tried anything for gingerbread so you may need to look at other gingerbread builds and see what might have been changed.
Should help you in development
Not sure about camera libs, you'd need to speak to some folks in #htc-linux about that
Thx that should help. Camera n stuff is working. The stuff u gave me should fix sensors. Then the stuff left is the white transitions and the speciaal update.zip pattern it requires
Can someone have the link to the howto build your own NAND rom instead of CWM, i know i saw this on XDA and it'll be usefull but can't find it (already try search button )
Cause if we make an official rom with buildbot for the nightly we must have a flashable one with MAGLDR instead of using CLK to flash the rom via fastboot.
in advance thanks.
F.

Did you just rebuild from source with a different theme?
Did you modify any of the code to "make it the way you want"
Please share how this differs from CM7 besides the Theme
so CM7 with a new theme that doesn't use the theme engine. brilliant! why didn't I think of this as a way to get noticed?
edit: gapps are included? as is basically forbidden with CM7-related ROM's? and good job thanking all the devs who did the real work for this (atinm, guiper, codeworkx, coolya, unhelpful, etc).
edit 2: no disclaimer about three button recovery and how not having it will leave you with a pretty brick. this is a beautiful thread.

explain how this is different than the CM7 already available? you're using codeworkx's kernel (clearly not building it yourself) as the build process also builds the kernel.
you added an app or two? congratulations, welcome to the world of WinZipDev'ing
edit: as atinm put it "github or it didn't happen"
Agreed! Its a decent theme, but bad work on the whole "building a rom part." maybe he's just trying to get ahead of the curve before everyone starts pushing out renamed CM7 with fancy names and themes

This should be transformed has a THEME and shared on the right forum section.
and take the ROM letters and all non-theme "code" out of this thread man, and yes take care of yourself, don't try to cook anything under your name, you might end up mixing the wrong ingredients and burn the hell out of your improvised soup !

Very useless in my opinion, you'd better help on the main project than trying to release something you call your own.
Apparently the OP knows he did something wrong.

[ROMs] 4.2.2 ROM's

I have two ROM's I thought I would share. They are both 4.2.2 ROMs; one is AOKP, and the other CyanogenMod. Niether have working Bluetooth and do have most of the current 4.2.2 bugs.
If anyone is curious they can see my Github, my username is CDMoncrieff
I've uploaded the files to Dev-Host under CDMoncrieff and the files are:
cm_tenderloin.april8.zip - 152.30 MB
aokp_tenderloin.april8.zip - 133.95 MB -been told it may wipe SD contents on some Touchpads. Back-up to your PC before flashing please!
Use a file explorer to drop this file in system/bin to fix the multiple light touches bug. ts_srv - 17.84 KB

The 4.2.2 GAPPs package
A question for you, where did you learn to build ROMs for the HP touchpad? I've been googleing how to set up a build environment on Ubuntu, which I've nearly completed but then all guides on building cm10.1 (for example) only cover supported devices of which the Touchpad isn't.... I can't find much with Google at least on Touchpad specific ROM building.

This is hands down the best guide for setting up your build environment. Its okay to be on 13.04 as well, you might just have some unmet dependantcies you need to install. You'll likely be told you are holding broken packages and will need to meet the dependencies before you can install the other packages.
sudo apt-get install gcc
sudo apt-get install g++
After following that guide you should be set up to build.
Building for unsupported devices depends on the ROM you are trying to create. Basically you just need to follow the file paths in your local repository until you find something out of place or missing, then fix it.
You can see my githib at github.com/cdmoncrieff where you can see some of the commits I made to build for AOKP to get an idea of the process. There is also a short build-instructions repo with a few details of the process for 4.2.2. If you have any questions, which if you are going to try building, I will be glad to help
I still need more posts before links, here's another!
OK that's great I will take a look, the main problem for me at the moment is time. I'm currently using Ubuntu 12.10 I'm hoping to at least compile cm9 or cm10 to start with as they are pretty much fully operational. SGA's efforts with 4.2 and yours have inspired me to have ago. I guess the battery life is the main item that needs work in 4.2.2 and working out how to get Bluetooth working. What are your plans? Do you intend to try to improve on the current builds?

That sounds good.
Wich bugs 4.2.2 has?
Unpredictable power draw
No Bluetooth
Kind of flakey WiFi
Rotated camera preview
I think that's it...

I downloaded the AOSP version earlier and will be flashing tomorrow.
Do I have to wipe / factory reset, format system, etc, or can I get away with just wiping cache and wiping dalvik cache.
Thanks.

I've looked at your github and there are some useful changes in there I may move over to my rom. I just started getting phantom touches in one corner so I'll try out the ts_srv.c change. I might try the system tunings to system.prop, why did you choose those changes?
Why did you disable backuptool in tenderloin_ota_from_target_files? It is what keeps your gapps when you flash. Does it cause you some problems? I find it works just fine.
good job on the rom.
By the way, the camera driver is consuming lots of power (90mA sleep) so I reverted those three commits. The camera doesn't work but I'm down to 19 and I hope to get back to 4. (it's in my new branch c10.1, I'm still new at git so I left my old tree with camera for those who want it and a new tree with it reverted for me.)
Keep up the good work.

Yeah, that is the kernel source alright. I guess there was enough requests for it after all.
Now we just need to make it better. We have the technology.
We need a cyanogenmod rom

Great news indeed. About a week ago I've requested XDA's OEM relations manager Jerdog to contact Yota, and today he sent me a message that they finally obliged. His action together with some social media attention and requests through other channels probably all added up.
I've put it on github: https://github.com/SteadyQuad/android_kernel_yotaphone2
There's still a lot of work to do however, it's not plug-and-play. As far as I can see there's no kernel config included, so that might take time to figure out. I'm not an experienced kernel dev, but I'll give it some attention to see how far I get with it. Anyone else interested to help out here?
Wish that I could help, but this is not something were I'm able to add value... :/
Best of luck to you and any other that may go down that road.
what about the progress
now?

Config is in arch/arm/configs and seems to already be set up with the EPD display, so likely the same that Yota is using:
https://github.com/SteadyQuad/android_kernel_yotaphone2/tree/lollipop5.0/arch/arm/configs
Do you still have the original tarball?

Can't find the original tarball. Sources on Github are pretty close though (I think I only missed some firmware files on very first commit). You probably found it already, but Yota seemed to have adapted the standard arch/arm/configs/msm8974_defconfig file for yp2, which contains amongst other things the Epson EPD driver:
Code:
CONFIG_FB_EPSON_S1D13522=y
CONFIG_EPSON_13522=y
It's been some time, but I remember after some small tweaks (on github) the kernel actually built and booted.
I've never managed to get into contact with Yota directly, but if you're planning development work, maybe you should ask them for an updated tarball, might have updated EPD firmware, CVE fixes and other updates .

You're welcome!
And keep in mind: not Yota (mobile carrier), but Yota Devices (SW team)
So, how hard is it to merge this old pile of sources into a newish CM13 branch? I've compiled a linux kernel before but never did any more involved stuff than that - Anyone with prior experience or a decent written guide on how to adapt CM to a device around?
