Don't blame me for this question - being a newbie, but is there any idea, if this (flash different ROM) will be possible in some days or some weeks, ...
I'm bored, that the windows phone idea is reduced to absurdity by having "market share protecting ?" limits induced by the providers...
I bought the 16GB version (not available in Europe...) from T-Mobile US and now I have no german layout for the keyboard, no dataconnection (ok, I'm using T-Mobile GERMANY not T-Mobile USA - what ridiculous, same company, I thought..)

Please someone correct me if im wrong but the USA version will never work this side of europe because it uses different frequencys for its 3g connection. But what makes me strange is that if we have an unlocked phone (even if we bought in O2 ou Orange or another network) why can we apply a custom WWE/European rom?? If the phone is unlocked it means he can work in any country with any operator so by comparison we could install another rom (i think )

the phone is only unlocked to be used for other operators , The vendor ID didn't change and due to that you can only flash rom's that are signed by that vendor

normally that are different vendors confused: o2 DE , o2 UK) but you could just try if you want/need to flash (you just get an error nothing more )

My phone works excellent here in Portugal, I don't need to change anything for now...I'm checking the rumours about the updates that will came from MS in January and February and that makes me even more happy with the phone and software that I have for the moment

Hello, I wanted to know whether I could flash a Dutch version into a WWE OS for the HD2. Here is the answer I got from HTC Support :
"I would suggest that you wait till the 13th as buying a dutch device means you will not be able to install an UK updates or the UK version of the OS as doing so would require you to hack the device and that is nto recommended or supported in any way and it would also void your warranty.

If you did read the WIKI (yeah XDA have a good one) you found that you need to change your SPL.
So you have to wait for a hacked HD2 SPL.
You can also read there that there are to ways;
HARD spl, The hacked spl is allways there
JUMP spl, only a startup for flash a other rom that time.
Also you can read there how bring back your phone to default if ít's needed, sending to servicecenter and so on...
So keep a eye overhere and read the WIKI

Yeah (WWE) i think so there is no UK version jet...
If you gonna try... the HD2 has a CID lock so will not flash with the wrong country ROM.
You can set SENCE countrycode with a reg tweak.

Does this mean you can flash it with offical rom without hardspl? (chinese to wwe)
firstly use sn and imei code and check your phone's regional country .after that choose the correct regional english official ROM.
for example . your phone is english east european countries. you can download the English East Europe official ROM and directly flash without any hspl. I tried and it successed .
Got a note from pdashop.nl the English version is delayed by at least 3 weeks.
That sucks, anyone knows where to get English version in NL??

HTC deliverd the NL versions again, so there short on units or what so ever...
So the UK version has to wait.

Since you have the NL version, can you try if the leaked official ROM can be flashed to the HD2? I guess you will be able to tell of it can be done before you actually start the flashing of the device.

I was wondering if any NL HD2 owner could try if changing NL ROM to UK is possible.
Afaik the RUU will actually tell you before the flashing starts, so even if you don't want to really update your NL localised HD2 to UK ROM it would be interesting to know if it is possible now the UK version seems to be delayed.
I don't like NL ROMs but will buy the NL version if I can change to UK before HardSPL comes out. Since Olipro said it is getting more difficult with every new phone I'm expecting it takes at least a number of months before it will be available (if at all...).
So please Dutch HD2 owners, grab the UK ROM and post your findings back here?

Of course you have, but you have the NL ROM.
Can you try the WWE RUU/ROM download and find out if this allows flashing the device from NL to WWE/UK/English?
If this can be done I'm ordering the NL and flash to WWE when it is delivered.

The short version is, even though both are official ROMs, it's not possible without HardSPL due to language differences.

its very light branded. only start and end animation, no simlock or else.

Today I got my HD2
I saw a ROM update on the HTC site. It was posted on 02-02-2010.
When I enter my serial number it says the update is not for me (I'm sure I filled in the correct one).
Is this because my phone is from Vodafone (splash screen en shutdown screen show Vodafone logo)?
Is it possible to install this official ROM? (I don't mind to lose the Vodafone screens) How could I do this.
I want to keep my phone in dutch.

Hi, yes, you are correct. You should get your rom upgrades from Vodafone.
However we all know how bad carriers are at releasing upgrades, so consider hspl2 and then you can flash the rom of your choice. (official or not)
But isn't it possible to get an official HTC rom?
At this moment I prefer to have an official rom on my new phone.
For an official Vodafone ROM update, ask them. The ROM on the HTC site is also official. Not for your phone tho.

no because your handset is branded to vodafone, the offical updates are for non branded phones
I had a same problem!
Just bought an HTC HD2, in hungary, but it has a "hungarian rom 1.48.479.1" on it, with SPL 1.42.0000
But, i cant upgrade any roms, my PN number last 3 number is 042, so this htc hd2 is came from a german vodafone. (htc . com says, no upgarde for this pdaphone yet)
Still have 2 years of warranty.
So is it possible, to get an 1.66 official rom on it, with hspl2? and if i need my warranty, can i "un/install" to 1.42 SPL to not lose my warranty? If is it possible, i will use hspl2 if i need my warranty, and i will use that german 1.66 rom that just came out (vodafone . de)

The previous Vodafone UK rom 1.72.161 was very fast and very stable!!!
HTC is making more stable rom!!!!!!!!
Can anyone confirm that this ROM has o2 branding on it? I have a non "o2 HD2" and currently running 1.66.405.2 but I am on the o2 Network.

I know i'm a flash addict, but one thing still confuses me.. If i extract the .nbh and flash using CustomRUU will it overwrite HSPL?
with my call log to o2 cs i am shocked they have not called me yet to say this is up lol maybe my one man crusade finaly made o2 get this out of the door !!

Can anyone confirm that this ROM has o2 branding on it? I have a non "o2 HD2" and currently running 1.66.405.2 but I am on the o2 Network.
Would just like to know if this new ROM will 1, work. & 2, not be o2 branded etc.

This Rom DOES have O2 branding, it has the O2 boot screen. I have just flashed my device successfully
This rom is for O2 users who cannot update with a generic ROM, unless you used HSPL to flash it.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably just leave it for now & hope they bring out a unbranded ROM out soon.
I think there is an official Hong Kong 1.72 rom in english, if you want that

Would it be ok to install on my HD2? Its a UK verision so to speak, ie. My Serial Number won't let me download it.
of course be carefully; you need to make a Hdspl2, and then you can flash to any rom. These rom are uploaded by xda in the official rom's post
