Screen protector recommendations - Vibrant General

when I had my cliq I was a huge fan of Boxwave Anti-glare screen protector.it took a little bit away from screen clarity but made up for it with superior gliding ability and easy application, not too mention almost eternal life-span...however, now that I have a screen worth showing off, what would be the best screen protector that preserves clarity, but also has a good feel?

The realook screen protectors are great. Just make sure you read and follow the instructions.

Realook ones are by far the best.

I like these guys - http://www.ghost-armor.com/ they have a kiosk in the malls near me and they do a much better job of applying SP's than I can.
If I were going to do my own I'd buy something from Zagg and put it on...

Zagg = Sticky! Not good.
My wife has been using Zagg stuff for a few years, and I always hated the 'sticky' element. Smoothing dragging is impossible with their product.
A few months ago there was a convo on here, and the guy from Phantom Skinz popped in. I grabbed their Carbon-Fiber skin (came with 2 screen protectors), and I have been _Extremely_ happy. People often comment on the skin (and I have a custom metamorph for nearly the entire phone - which throws people off as well), and the screen protector isn't sticky at all, and has held up very well under my abuse.
Couldn't recommend them enough.

Like everyone else Realook is the best out there, I promise it is like is not even there, sometimes I even forget I have it on.
I have 3 Vibrants with Realook and they are virtually invisible.

I tried them all... errr, ok I only tried the store bought tmo brand on my Vibrant, but nothing compares to the "Realook" brand. Ive had BSE and ZAGG on previous phones but the realook is the ONLY one that has ever looked 100% invisible like the screen is naked. This in itself makes it worth every penny considering how important it is to NOT cover our amazing AMOLED screen. And not to mention that the darn thing practically installs itself. Ive never seen such a ridiculously easy SP application. I remember thinking to myself, "crap I could have thrown the SP at the phone and it would have installed just fine" LOL, I'm not kidding, I really did think this...
Realook hands down.... period!

Another vote for Realook and big vote against Zagg. There are people who swear by them and say everyone else is installing them wrong, but mine was terrible. Luckily they do have a 100% refund policy
Steinheil's are also pretty good.
With either Realook or Steinheil, get the crystal clear kind. Can't tell it's there at all.

Another vote for Realook. I've tried a ton of screen protectors, and these are by far the best. I cannot even tell there is a screen protector on.
And the price is good. I think I paid $10.99 with free shipping for 2 of them. They sell them themselves on eBay and Amazon.

I was a skeptic but tried the RL due to the popularity on here. It is very good. I would recommend splitting the costs with another XDA user. Also, while it is a good SP, I still do not believe one is needed, and it WILL add a lot of finger smudges.

I've tried many screen protectors, believe it or not, I like the generic universal screen protectors from tmo that you cut to size yourself.
has worked great!

I vote for Martin Fields, barely visible. Only problem is you see fingerprints when the screen is off. (no biggy)
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

I vote for REALook, not visible what so ever. Finger prints though are worse than ive seen on any other screen protector, at least I think so. But it cleans well and like I said its like the no screen protector real look, hence the name.

The best I have seen are the "Cellet" brand from Frys (saves shipping too).
I've used the real look ones, the cellet are a bit clearer.
Yes I know....you just have to see for yourself.

I don't have a screen protector on, I like just having gorilla glass. Unless you carry around an open blade in your pocket I see no need. I've TRIED to key my screen and that didn't even scratch it

I agree with the previous poster, unless you travel with a pocket full of diamonds the Gorilla glass will obviate the need for a screen protector.

I disagree with both previous posters. Ive seen plenty of gorilla glass scratches to date, one in fact got terribly scratched from top to bottom and the upset owner never identified what the culprit was, all he found in his pocket next to his phone was small amounts of lint. I dont care how hard this glass is, its going to stay pristine and Im not going to take the chance with even the smallest scratch. I may be extra extra careful with this phone, but if I decide to go naked that will be the same day that this phone decides to fly out of my hand and onto the concrete below face first... No freggin way thank you very much. lol

I have a Droid X with gorilla glass and thought I was being careful.
I did get a couple of very small scratches in the glass, so I wound up using a protector.
The reallook ones are very good.

Are all T-mob Vibrant Screen protectors poor quality?

I just applied an official T-mobile screen protector for vibrant... Applied it well with no air bubbles... but when I turned my display on.. I saw that it makes the screen look really blurry and kind of pixelated because of poor quality plastic texture...
I also noticed that the plastic film that the vibrant came with was better quality because it was completely see through and it never worsened the quality of phone's display.
Does anyone else see this with T-mobile screen protectors???
Any recommendations on which one to buy?
I feel like T-mobile really failed at making a screen protector for such a brilliant display.
I always get screen protectors on Amazon. They are so much cheaper.
I really like the T-mo case for Vibrant though.
Get the realook screen protectors. They cover the whole entire screen and buttons, can't tell there is a screen protector, and feels like there is no screen protector on!
They are $10.99 I believe for 2 of them on eBay and Amazon.
What about not falling for the screen protector scam these company are running, You dont need a screen protector for this phone, and anything you put on this S amoled screen will lower the quality of the screen, Remember you are applying a film of something that will have an impact. Go Naked its gorgeous.

How can you say that... There is No mention of Vibrant having a gorilla glass! On Euro Galaxy S model it does say that it has a gorilla glass protecting the screen.
Plus many users on xda said that they got tiny scratches from having the phone in their pocket.. without anything else in it! So there goes to show you still need a screen protector to protect from salt on finger tips and sand in pockets.
I keep my phone in my pocket with keys, coins and any number of other things and I do it naked (but that's besides the point)
I also saw a video on YouTube in Japanese where the guy was trying to scratch it with razor blades, keys, dropping it and various other tortures. I wish I had the link. Anyway, I agree that this phone does not need a screen protector and you will only be degrading the visual impact to some degree. With that said I know that many people just feel better about doing so.

+1 on the realook. You can't even tell it's on there (can't say the same for clearfreak and definitely not the t-mo one. I tried them both.)

No gorilla glass?
There were several articles posted in the last week or so (Engadget, Gizmodo, Androidguys) about how it turns out that gorilla glass was indeed used on the Galaxy phones.

It has already been confirmed that the vibrant has gorilla glass. I'm not saying it won't scratch. Its probably a tad more resistant.

I'm with sano614, I bought and have had the Realook protectors from Day 1 and they are crystal clear, so much so that you can't tell you even have it on, but the protection is there. It's also great that for the price you get two of them. Here's a link to some customer reviews on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/REALOOK-T-Mobile-Samsung-Vibrant-Protector/product-reviews/B003WL4W6M
Whatever you choose, put something on it. You paid good money for the phone.

I could bet that these people think they scratched it as I thought mine was scratched SEVERAL times but it was just weird smudges or something that looked like a scratch. After thorough wiping the scratch turned out to be an illusion. My glass is perfectly FLAWLESS with no special treatment whatsoever.
Take it for what it's worth. Maybe I've just been extremely lucky.
Went through 3 different screen protectors and by far Realook is the best. I can't even tell it's even on there.
Realook is amazing, I have had quite a few compliments on it after I tell them there is a screen protector because they don't realize one is there. +1 realook

+1 for Realook ! Like everyone here already mentioned, you can hardly feel its presence after you apply it and you know you are protected.
I've used Tmobile's screen protector. It gives the display a scattered rainbow like look. The only good thing was the matt finish was very less reflective and less prone to finger prints. I replaced it with Realook and I'm loving it.
I also have used screen protectors religiously. This time I had zagg, **** was too sticky feeling so I ripped it off after some friends said they go naked on there evos, n1s and incredible, so, I said hell, I never put it in my pocket with anything anyways.
Well, Its just sooooo much better without one. Ive yet to get a scratch either and even dropped it in between the seats of the car and it hit all the way down. One guy up above mentioned it looking like theres scratches but were wiped away, Ive also had those and thought, "oh crap I got a scratch," but realized it wiped right off and my screen also is flawless still.
Gorilla glass or not this bad boy is tough... Just reserve one pocket for your phone only. My right is only my phone and my left is everything else. Pretty soon it will become second nature and you wont even need to think what pocket to put **** in...
GO naked, screw protectors.
Honestly, if realook wasn't this amazing, then I would have definitely gone naked since all other screen protectors seem to take away from the Super AMOLED screen. But to all honesty, realook is awesome. It seriously doesn't feel like there's anything on the screen once installed.
The vibrant may have gorilla glass, but why not invest $10 bucks to protect a $500 phone anyways?
I don't run a screen protector and haven't had any problems with the vibrant or my old G1. I do keep my vibrant in my old G1 pouch case though when its in my pocket.

[Q] Screen protector

Sad day in the life of SlightlyAmused. Put the phone in my coat pocket and it happened. One good size scratch down the edge, now it don't bug me too much but I figure it would be best to get a zagg on this bad boy asap. The problem is I cannot find any online!
Does anyone know where I can find some?
Also, for those who use them, will zaggs make my screen feel "draggy" or does it still feel natural?
Did you scratch the screen or the phone plastics? The screen's supposed to be scratch proof.
The screen. I have read that if there is sand between a credit card or something it can happen. I think its just resistant and not proof.
I had a Zagg on my N900 and it did feel a little rubbery/draggy. Either you get used to it or it wears off, not sure which but the feeling goes away.
I really want to find a screen protecter that is exactly like the ones supplied with the HTC Hermes and Kaiser in the box. Best screen protectors i ever had. Barely even noticed they were there and they lasted the time i had the phones.
I found a review on Steinheil protectors and they look good. Sadly they don't have any for Defy. Oh well, maybe next month.
Just be careful around sand and hard surfaces. I have read alot online so far that people have scratched the glass on other devices with gorilla with only sand in their pocket or on the beach face down. Everything else doesn't seem to effect it.
Hi,
for my Defy, i ordered Vikuiti (TM) DQC-160 3M
I hope it works well
DING!
Looks great and the reviews are all pretty good. The whole finger print thing dosnt really bother me as I usually wipe it off after I use it, or during it (hard to play casino kid 2 with finger prints imo).
Hopefully it covers a little of the scratch I have on the screen
Thanks!
and you believed them?

hmmm, those that believe that Corning Gorilla Glass is scratch proof are gullible, and mislead by Motorolas claim that the Defy is dust scratch and water therefore life proof, I have a Samsung Preston here that begs to differ thanks to the dirty big diagonal scratch down it's face
and I also have a still camera that Olympus swears to be "waterproof" despite the angry protests of almost everyone else who bought one which just goes to show you can never believe what a company says about their product
if you're wise you would fit a screen protector to it the very moment you unbox it like I did with my Sex1
and will do with my new Defy When I get it
(decision made!)
I wish realook made them for the defy. They are by far my favorite

imo phone never feels as responsive with a screen protector on - I have always used them when I had non touch screen phones, and when I got my Hero I tried a number of different ones and always felt they weren't working very well, when I just decided to start using it without one, it felt like a different phone. I haven't bothered with the Defy, not because of the scratch proof claims. I think the best defence is just to get in the habit of putting it in an empty pocket etc.
I feel the same about them until I put a realook protector on my vibrant. It's pretty awesome.

One I found in my search for protectors was skinomi have it ordered but still waiting.
Why not put your phone in an empty pocket? Hell, I did that with my dumbphones before touchscreen was a readily available feature.
Plus, isn't putting a screen protector on Gorilla Glass like putting tissue paper over kevlar?
for what little protection
where work is always better ... and is not an office
if you happen to a simple scratch , throw away the tissue paper
I am so used to just tossing it in my pocket that I dont really think about whats in there. When I rocked my BB9700 I would always throw it in the holster and I think I will be looking around tomorrow for either a generic screen protector or case for the phone.
I must admit the phone can take a beating.
I got a couple of decent sized scratches from a lighter in my pocket within 3 days (the perils of smoking!).
I just received my skinomi a couple of days ago and am most impressed so far. Using the wet one, I have no bubbles and cannot see the scratches now. It feels smooth on the finger, shows less finger prints and I have lost no accuracy. I will be interested to see how well the self healing thing works, as every other cover I have used ends up covered in scratches within a week.
I will post how it holds up over time

I can understand that. My new years resolution is to quit smoking.....year 15 of failed new years. I'm starting to think this whole "sticking to it" isnt for me.
I've had the skinomi on for a few weeks now. It is the most impressive protector I have ever seen.
I can't see the original scratch, nor can I see fingerprints much. I can see better in light and it feels better than the gorilla glass- smooth but rubbery with no grab. It is as responsive as stock and has no dulling effect on the screen.
I do have some scratches-more like pits from having it in my pocket with keys and a lighter and other stuff while climbing around at work. I realized I had my full bodyweight on it and I feared I would crack the glass, and it's hard to describe how I knew I had given it way beyond normal abuse, and I have cracked a screen before with half the pressure- these pits haven't gone away so I ordered another one without hesitation even though I can only notice them on angles, and even then not much (I could have gone for the lifetime warranty replacement but I feel I really pushed it beyond its purpose, and it's too much hassle -with the GET25 discount it's only $8 anyway, and I was getting one for my wife's Desire that I gave her when I got the Defy). If I had my Desire in my pocket that day, I would guarantee it would have cracked.
I can see no other scratches, and one's I have had just fade away in days, as it is self healing.
Does anyone know if there is any good "anti-finger print" screen protector?
The finger print just drive me nuts...
The anti-glare one from PDAir works a hoot!

Xmas Came Early

Well i came across a box while trying to help my wife wrap packages for the kids, tf101 32gb! Of course i won't let her know i saw it. So in anticipation i was looking at getting a few steps ahead. One is a screen saver, im looking at the Lexerd, i really don't like the idea of soaking the screen with fluid. Also recommendations for an sd card, i was looking at a 32gb card. I know not to buy off fleabay because of knock-offs. Looking forward to Xmas!

In my opinion, the only reason for a screen protector is for it's anti-glare properties (for the anti-glare models). I use one, just for that purpose - it also keeps the screen cleaner and allows your finger to slide alot better...
Personally, I opted for one of the more expensive anti-glare models for my Transformer and love it - it's the SGP Anti-Glare for the Transformer (Steinheil).
I forget what I paid, but remember it being expensive. Works great though.
I believe in screen protectors, i have plenty of scratches on my screen protector for my phone, a small investment will save the screen. Ill have to check out the other screen protector. Hopefully there will be some good deals on sd cards in the next week.

Its ironic really, because If you didn't have the protector you wouldn't have scratches... Atleast on devices with gorilla glass. Like the other guys have said, you can't scratch these screens, or rather you will have to go our of your way to try. The only need for screen pro is for anti glare, otherwise, all you are doing is paying for something that is vulnerable to being scratched. The cleanest, scratch free screens you will see will be on tfs that are neked.
But I understand your stance, you got to do what you feel is right. Have fun, I love this tablet, I know you will too.

I actually got a scratch on my screen and I have no idea how it got there. I am pretty careful with my devices. No scratches on the other non gorilla glass devices I own so I am not sure how this keeps happening. It is only on the bezel part so its no big deal to me. I'm thinking it was in my backpack and slipped out of its case and got scratched. Sand or small stones can scratch gorilla glass as I have seen a couple of abusive videos on youtube prove.
I also found a scratch on my Infuse 4g on the black bezel part so I am now in the mindset of screen protecting my current and future phone's and tablets even if they are gorrila glass.
Now if I could only find a screen protector that feels good and looks good to me. I want the same kind that they put on the xperia x10 phones. Any of the protectors I have tried since are horrible to me. I just end up ripping them off and ruining them.
Anyways, you got the best xmas gift you could have hoped for. That is until you get greedy like me and want a prime lol!
So you didn't get scratches on the screen, just the bezel...which isn't gorilla glass and there for not what we are taking about. Or you are mistaken at what the bezel part of the phone is. The bezel will get scratched, along with everything else that isn't gorilla glass, unless you get a full device wrap.
So for clarification, are you referring to the actual glass or the material around it?, which would be the bezel. because I would like to know what you did to scratch the screen of any device with gorilla glass... Perhaps tried cleaning it with a carbide coated shammy cloth lol.
Seriously though, I have yet to meet anyone who has damage there screen in a scenario that a screen protector would have saved it.
Sent from my Infuse... Love it!
Personally, I think scratches are more of a problem with phones since they are slipped into our pocket (with coins or keys, etc).... With a tablet, I would think that it would be pretty tough to scratch it, but I'm sure it could happen - Gorilla glass isn't indestructible!
Non-issue for me, since I use it for the anti-glare'ness, so I'm proteted just in case anyway, but that wasn't my goal....
The best screen protector!
I paid $150 for mine. It came with a keyboard and an extra battery. Joking aside. I must be one of the lucky ones who have never scratched their screen. It has fallen off the couch multiple times. I set my glasses on it all the time when it is undocked. The cats have walked across it. Still, nothing but finger smudges. Anti-glare would be nice though. Might look into one of those.
If whatever it is can scratch the Gorilla glass, it will go right through a screen protector. Other than glare, I see no reason for a screen protector on the TF. Search for Gorilla glass here and see some of the videos on things people have done to their TF screen without damage.
First of all, welcome to the club! My TF has been a lot of fun to own, I can't really imagine not having a tablet at this point.
Secondly, add me to the list of people who don't really believe in a screen protector for a tablet. My Transformer is never in a position where the screen is exposed when I'm not using it -- it's either closed up in the dock, or closed up in my Asus case.
I use these on my screen every day to remove smudges and dust: http://www.targus.com/us/productdetail.aspx?sku=TXA00212US (Around $8 for a pack of 3 ... I keep one in my bag, one at home, and one at work)
And for times when there's too much caked on the screen to be removed by those pads, I use a couple of Sight Savers cleaning pads (box of 50 is about $3 at Target) -- after dusting off the screen of course. Not a scratch on my baby!
Its a large screen and I have a protector on it. The screen protector is on there because it is a smudge resister type because the Transformer gets nasty quick. Not there are never any fingerprints... plus it protects the screen.

What you are really going to want is a case. Roocase available at Amazon for about $25.00 is an excellent accessory that keeps the screen protected and gives it a touch of class when carrying. Well, it all depends what you are looking for...
Have you ever tried an anti-glare or anti-fingerprint protector before though - again, the protection is really secondary, the real reason I use them is becuase they keep the screen clean and more importantly, they allow your finger to slide so much easier...
The last thing I want is an always-on case, especially since I have the dock - it's really it's own case... So, it all depends - but I'd highly recommend that you try an anti-glare protector before writing them off completely...
mine had a screen protector on it for like two days, i couldn't stand it, felt like i was touching gel, cost $14.99 at bestbuy and $10 for them to apply it. been using it without the screen protector since and it feels a lot nicer and smoother touching the screen.

I'm sure this wasn't an anti-glare protector though.. Sounds like a Zagg protector, which I never liked either....
Even with the anti-glare type, there are good ones, bad ones and horrible ones! I've had the best luck with the more expensive brands, but also found a model at 5 Below for my iPad 1 and they were great too (for $5!)... Then of course, is the really hard part - getting them on properly, with no bubbles or anything like that!
But, if all goes right, it really does make the touch-screen interface that much better...
Lol screen protectors are a waste on tf101, they, are also much softer a good therefore scratch much easier than the glass underneath.
Seems some are fooled into thinking that because their protector is scratched, those scratches would have been on the screen, which is nonsense

The other reason I don't care for screen pro is because they tend to make the screen more dull, especially with anti glare.

Same here, the screen is too valuable on the tab to get scratched imo ...
I've ordered this one for my SGS
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VWR2GO/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
The review I've read was saying it was pretty good, barely noticable, wich is a must considering a big plus on samsung's products are the screen.
I'll see if it's worthy, if it is, I'll order this one for the tab:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...TJV_2?ie=UTF8&m=A1E9T6XPH2ITJV&n=&s=&v=glance
(anyone has it already?)
I had one on originally, but got the newton rings and sent it back. I never bothered putting one on my new tab. I actually much prefer the feel of it without the screen protector. I have a case that covers the screen when I'm not using it, so I feel the risk of scratching is minimal. The protector just felt sort of rubbery, while the bare glass feels really smooth and slick. Could be the brand of screen protector. But I don't see much of a benefit of putting one on at this point.
But I do have 4 kids, so maybe you don't want take my advice on using supplemental protection...
Yep, don't feel right unless i do. I use a zagg from best buy, since they have never died on me.
Nope, I just use the official Samsung "book cover" case. Why would I want to cover such a sexy, smooth glass screen with a piece of plastic?
I did, and took it off weeks after. No matter what protector you use, it will diminish the quality of the screen. I tried the Zagg and BodyGuardz and when I took them off again, I realized that the screen is too sexy to be hindered. It's Gorilla Glass people; it doesn't scratch that easily. I have my tablet with a TPU case and I have no scratches so far. Just be careful where you put it and you're good to go.
I'm a huge fan of Matte finish anti-glare screen protectors. My tab is sporting one, so is my Galaxy S2...other protectors just get covered in fingerprints as well as not having one on... you should try it. Some people like them some don't... IMO best type of screen protectors.

I've had mine since they first day that Samsung sold the Tab and have never used a screen protector. Not a single scratch or mark on the screen.
Tablets are different than phones. Generally people chose a case that closes over the screen. It's not like you're going to put it in your pocket and get the screen scratched by your keys.
If your case doesn't close to cover the screen or you don't use a case all the time then it might be recommended to use a screen protector. Otherwise the only thing that should come in contact with the screen is your finger or a stylus. Unless, of course, you drop it.
I have had mine since launch with no screen protector and no scratches. It might be a question you have to ask yourself, as far as how much wear and tear will your tab see? It's not like a phone I keep in my pocket and carry everywhere (although I do take my tablet just about everywhere) that can get scratched by keys and the like.
+1 on matte protectors. Also, get a full body protector (sides and back are not scratch resistant!)
I, personally, can't stand the matte ones. It makes the screen look too grainy

+ 1
I use a bookcase and screen protector. I usually take care of my electronics but somehow I managed to get some small scratches on my screen. I am not sure if they came from using my dagi stylus or from the cloth I use to wipe it with (dry booger perhaps). If you plan on using a stylus I would go for a screen protector. I am currently using one from Belkin but wouldn't really recommend it. I applied as pr instruction but it has an oily look to it. I spoke to their customer service and they said they would send me a new one but haven't received it yet (2 weeks).

I love matte ones but again the rainbow effect annoys me, so I found this SGP Ultra Fine - they advertise it as NO RAINBOW effects (link)
Does anyone here uses this and know it to be true or know if any other screen protectors do this?
I'm quite annoyed at the fact that the screen isn't oleophobic, attracts too many fingerprints !
Cheers
Never used them on SGS or Tab. Screens still look as good as new.

Nope... I have the Samsung case which protects the tablet well and as others have said it's Gorilla glass, so it doesn't scratch easily. The screen is too nice to cover it up.
I also don't have one on my sgs2 which is always in my pocket (nothing else in the same pocket) and it doesn't have any scratches after about 7 months.
I really question the use of cases and screen protectors for phones... In 2-3 years you are likely gonna change phones anyway... Why rob yourself of the smoother and better looking screen? So that it's still in good shape when you get rid of it? ? ? I'd rather enjoy the phone to it's full potential while I use it with the risk of getting scratches than keeping it in pristine shape for when it ends up in a drawer or in someone else's hands.

Many times 2-3 years is a longer time than I think is actual. More like 1-2.
But on point, because a device without scratches on on the screen can bring twice as much used than one with scratches.
Just my two cents.

Screen protector necessary?

Sorry for what is quite possibly a really dumb question, but with the Nexus 7 having Corning glass, is a screen protector even necessary?

corning glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof and not shatter proof.
the galaxy note has corning scratch resistant glass and yet many of us have managed to scratch it with the stylus that samsung included with the device.
so i would recommend using a screen protector if, like myself, you are easily annoyed by even the smallest scratches.
i already ordered 20 screen protectors from ebay, simply because i dont like having any air bubbles or dust underneath them. this way, if i screw up the first one, i have 19 more tries to get it right.
Quite simply....yes its necessary!

I'll be purchasing one when someone posts a good review on here of one they received
I hate screen protectors.
They never feel right to the touch and I can always see the edges which is annoying.
I've had several smartphones starting with the D1 when it was first released and other than the random very minor hairline scratch I've never had any issues with my screens.
Considering my N7 will never be pocketed (my phones live in my front pocket) there is even less of a chance of getting scratched.
This is just my personal preference.

Can't agree with you more. I used to have one for my Galaxy Nexus, but I hated how I could see the sides and air bubbles. I just took it off and it's been scratch-free for literally months. I also don't use a case with it, just goes in my pocket and it's been fine. Sure, the occasional finer smudge, but it's comes off. I'm also not going to bother with a screen protector for my Nexus 7. I have, however, ordered a case for it.
Thanks everyone. Now I'm off to ebay to buy some cheap ones....
the screen is the device PROTECT IT WELL
Skinomi or zag or any of the other brand name protectors work well. The cheap plastic ones will make your touch less precise and scratch easy. spend the money 10-15 dollars is not much to protech a 250.00 device. I have hand the skinomi protector on my iconia a500 since day one . the screen is beautiful and exactly as it was new.
now what about some type of slip on cover that has a build in two way kick stand that will rotate for horizontal and vertical positon.. I WOULD Love that. I do not want this tablet in a CASE. just would like a stand built into the back of it . Even one that would Stick on the back with maybe two sided tape or velcro. if done correctly..

The thing I hate about buying expensive screen protectors is that $10+ easily adds up if you have to use several of them to finally get it right. I hate getting any dust or bubbles on the screen and that is usually difficult for me to get right the first time.
If you're looking for a very good screen protector I'd go with skinomi probably spelled that wrong or xo skin. Xo skin
looks the most invisible when its done drying but will lift up easily if you put it too close to the brezzle. Skinomi is also very good there just less forgiving if you mess up putting them on make sure to use lots of spay when applying. Don't get zagg after about two months of me owning it it has a yellow tent to it and there more expensive then the both I recommended. Whatever you decided make sure to look up online for coupons the usually have some you can use and that my two cents hope it helps out.

I usually hate using them as well. The feel is just never quite right and this screen glides wet. The only ones I ever considered are the ones that give you screen privacy as well.

I am on my 3rd http://www.skinomi.com/ screen protector since my iconia. they give you a 100% life time no questions asked warranty. I have kinda long sharp fingernails and i tend to touch it down there the middle far reaches of thumbs keyboard.
you fax them copy of your recept with reason you want it replaced and credit card number. they charge you a small shipping fee. i think 3.00 and in a few days you get a new one in the mail.. send the old one back in a STAMP envelope 44 cents .
They cost more but cheap and easy to get replaced . They come with special spray to put them on with and can be removed cleaned and reattached. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BUBBLES NO CORNERS Coming up .And i use my tablet i would 3 hours a day. everyday if not more on days off work.
You Truly get what you pay for . I have heard same type of happy customers with Zag and a few of the others so i do NOT Want to make this all about the one i have . p THEY SHIP YOU THE NEW ONE FIRST. you ship old one back after you change it out. i paid i think 18.00 for the original one.
This is asked often.

Scratch Test: Does Your Phone Really Need A Screen Protector?
Had mine for under a week, already a fine scratch 4 cm long.
Screen protector means you can be rough with it
I learn from the mistakes of others. I have two friends who didn't use a screen protector on a Galaxy Note and a Galaxy S 2. Both got minor fine scratches that can only be seen if looked for. They're desk jockeys.
I work "in the field" often off-roading to get to my sites and my hands commonly get dirty from fine dust and sandy particles. There's no way I'd use my phone and Nexus 7 without a screen protector. If a desk jockey can get minor scratches imagine what a finger with fine dirt swiping across a screen will do.
So my lesson I learned: spend the money on a good screen protector if you're OCD about a perfect screen. Over the years I've learned how to apply wet screen protectors on so that they're not even noticable. (Zagg, Bodyguardz, and Skinomi). The trick is to apply a lot of solution to the sticky part.
I ordered a KaysCase Screen Protector. They are made for the device and fit perfectly. They are almost invisible and feel just like the glass itself. I got it on amazon along with my Aduro membrance case for my Gnex.
No screen protectors foe me, ever. I'd rather risk and/or deal with scratches than have a screen with a protector on it.

I don't have a screen protector on my Nexus and I've been fine. I'm careful enough, and if it happens to pick up a scratch or two as time goes on, that's alright. I'd rather not deal with the protectors, I like the screen the way it is.
I'm not 100% if screen protectors actually stop smart case covers from putting the nexus to sleep/awake, because it ever since I put a screen protector on, the sleep/awake function doesn't work effectively.
