Newbie introduction and one happy Galaxy S owner! - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi guys,
Been a long time reader but a first time poster! Kudos to the forum as its been more then useful many times when i had problems.
I am Australian currently in Germany. And just last week got the Samsung Galaxy S, unbranded and unlocked. Love that SAMOLED screen!
Have to say that i had no problems until now with GPS as its been spot on since day one. Using Copilot 8. Not sure if it was first batch of phones that was affected or what but mine seems to be as i said spot on. I dont use google navigation so can not comment on that.
Also i am photographer so i will be looking into bringing some hight quality wallpapers, if there is still someone out there preferring them over the live wallpapers
Cheers
Vlad

Nope, not photo funia. Thats a camera kinda app, the app i'm thinking of is like a interactive ebook for photographers with help on settings ,f stop calcs and stuff like that. Prob best photography app I found (not camera)
Ahh, Found it, "PhotoFluent" 1.0.2

I've chopped two photos and they do look stunning on this SAMOLED screen!
Problem is i cant post the url to my flickr account
Cheers
Vlad

You'll learn to cut and paste soon enough on android otherwise theres heaps of cut and paste 3rd party apps on MARKET. I have yet to look into it, Maybe someone who has can recommend some good ones?

Being a new member thats my problem, limited with posting url's
Hrm is this time limited or post limited?

The Best Home Screen plug-in

what is the the best home screen plug in! I currently and have been using HTC home, is there anything better? I have Tmobile wing!
Every time I'm suprised again when people post a question like this....
There are so much Today Screen Plugins available. There is no "best" Today Screen Plugin. It all depends on your needs.
For example, there are a lot of users here who love the IPhone interface. But there are also a lot of users who prefer something else like HTC Home or something else.
I'm using SPB Shell 1.5 and I like it so much >>>>
give it a try it's cooooooool...

I also like SPB Mobile Shell. New version (2.0) should be out soon and looks incredible. BOO
Heres a video of new version: http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7116.html
hopefully the new version will be released at the end of this month .....

dunno why you're surprised, a simple look at the user's post count (2 as of now) should explain a lot. unless, of course, he's been lurking a lot before posting, but if he was, he'd see the countless today plugins available.
Anyway, I do agree with Rhapsody, there are literally hundreds of today plugins, including plugins that support embedded today plugins (a la SPB Mobile Shell), and plugins that act as helpers for other programs (a la MortButtons)
for starters, take a look at iLauncher, TodayAgenda, rlToday, SPB Mobile Shell.... too many to list. or maybe next time, try this out

I love Ultimate Launch as well, really nice, and completely customizable. The ability to switch tabs by sliding your finger accross the screen just puts it over the top...

I don't think it is a bad link. I think he was suggesting the original poster search before posting. Very subtle.

If you love SpB Pocket Plus then you will love UltimateLauncher. It does everything pocketplus can and more on your today screen.
I use both but pocketplus is just set as a plugin on Ultimate launch so i can use the system monitor as i like the skin lol.
To be fair pocket plus does offer some good features outside of the today screen that i love so keep it installed too.

Don't take it to heart. These are the same people who think it is funny to post google.it as an answer.
i like the basic HTC home pligin although now i mostly use the fantastic pointui (pointui.com)
i'll second ultimate launcher... it has a bit of a learning curve, but if you look on page 2 of the "Question About Tabbed" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365334&page=2
you'll see a great example of what it can do... The guy even includes a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bNtHCOpZlQ
In his thread, he explains what he did, how he did it, etc... I took his post as a tutorial to UL and now have all the guys at the office using it as well.
anyways, check out his vid and his post for more info.

First welcome on board
Well you've got those who have given specific suggestions and those who have more or less said do a search there's lots been talked about previously. If you take the balance of these extremes, then you'll have a good philosophy for the Forums. i.e. Do a bit of searching and if the answers are not there then post a question.

Yeah, but relatively bloated. Some just want a small and configurable app for tabs and configurable plug-ins for each tab.
Gestures and animation for a home screen may have a gee-whiz factor, but if a tab button is present I'm more content to tap it to enter its listing, and then tap the app icon that I want to launch. I find that to be quicker and more reliable.
I'm not so interested in style. My preferences are for a small footprint and functionality.
With the addition of FTouchSL or TouchFlo, I can have basic gestures to launch apps or minimise, etc..

Oh dang! Thanks a lot for catching that! Fixing now.
Looks pretty good. I think you should figure out a way to mount a camera in a solid location and then put your hand/phone against a hard surface to reduce the movement. You do a pretty good job keeping it still but you can see the issues where the focus drops out and some of the phone's screen gets washed out.
Cool site man!

Excellent blog here

I found a really good 'tongue in cheek' blog with pics for the Galaxy Note here:
http://www.thetechblock.com/articles/2012/samsungs-super-sized-galaxy-note-changed-my-life/
I thought I would share.
It was funny but the rest of the site is terrible. I don't think I've ever seen a more Apple-centric tech blog. I mean wow...they make Engadget and BGR look like Android Central.

you are right, it is Cr-apple-centric, but that's what makes this blog so good, I think it's got some fanboys thinking Android may be cooler

My Location in Note
Hello, I have been using the Note for the past 3 weeks and am still learning new tricks daily thanks a lot to your team. I have been having this problem that whenever i post in facebook it says that i am somewhere in North Carolina whereas i really am in India. The same goes when i use the compass and google sky maps. But when i access the routine google maps, it shows my location correctly. I read somewhere that other galaxy phones had similar problems with the GPS. Please help.

My review of the Oneplus 5T

Hey everyone!
I've spent the good part of a day writing this review for the Oneplus 5T.
I've been building this website and will begin hosting reviews there quite regularly.
http://www.protonbar.com/mobile-1/2017/11/28/review-oneplus-5t
There's also a few other posts on there that might be interesting!
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Jonny
Thanks, a good read!
Thank you, very good job. I love the minimalistic design of your site.
Just some pics in low light (as you propose), it should be perfect!
A nice page to read. But only pros?
I wonder how accurate the face unlock will be. I mean, in addition to speed, the accurace. Will my son unlock my phone by looking at it?
