I've installed WildPuzzle ROM v6 and most of the extras, i just have a few questions that need answering...
1. The alarm clock looks odd (funny grey square thing) how can I get this to just stay as the original alarm clock icon?
2. Orange home is obviously for the orange network, so will there be an update/version which removes the icons/apps that don't work for other networks (such as Orange Plus, Orange World, Social Life)
3. I tried installing a couple of java games onto the wildfire and they wouldnt work. can anyone tell me where i can get java games that do work?
4. Can 'Key Contact' in Orange Home menu be modified so that options are added to directly call / send a message to the person you've chosen, instead of having to manually do it every time?
5. i want to replace the lock screen. i've tried a few free apps in the market, but they either dont work, or adds a 2nd lock screen on top of the existing one (so you have to unlock it twice). how do i go about replacing the stock lock screen altogether?
ANY HELP WHATSOEVER WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

when orange home is loaded, if you press the arrow button at the bottom, it brings up a menu which has them orange apps in
its not a big issue or anything, i just wondered if they could be removed or modified to work?

yes but how to use it ,i partitioned and ext using rom manager and the app2sd program i downloaded from market still dont open and the mobile became sd dependant and wen i remove the sd phone not booting up.i reflashed and gave up..

you cant and dont need the app2sd program for wildpuzzle v7... it is 2.1, when you install an app it is automatically moved to the sd with wildpuzzle rom. you can see app2sd is working if you look at your phone's internal memory, it should have 100mb+ free space.
well i just uninstalled an app and it freed up 2mb from internal memory and i have abt 52mb internal now.

did you flash the move dalvik cache 2 sd patch?

i installed dalvik2sd although i did before the reflash and now i cant flash anything off it asit says cant mount/dev/block after using rom manager..
now im on another sd card and it says

Your new SD card needs to be turned into a goldcard in order to flash anything onto your phone
You need to partition your SDcard after first install and reinstall rom to get more space, as the second install would move many files to ext-SD but keep essential system files on phone so it appear that apps are still on phone.
Jus in case did you turned off the verification check in the recovery mode..

Hi all,
I know that the Extended ROM for the HTC Universal can be "unlocked" so we can move files in and out and delete files in the Extended ROM, but can we actually convert the Extended ROM space in usable space?
Either by:
1) Resizing the Extended ROM and increasing the default ROM size.
OR
2) Installing programs directly into the Extended ROM itself and running it off from there without any problems.

1.) nope, is not possible - size is fix for default ROM and extended ROM
2.) yup, works fine - instead of just installing to main memory or storage card you then have a third option usually called 'storage', so you have 10 MB more to install programs to.

Thought I read somewhere in this forum about the extended rom would slow the Jasjar down.
Is it true? I would love to get the 10Mb but hate to see it slow down again...
Based on what I know, it is TRUE that we can unlock the ExtROM, BUT we cannot use that free memory yet, as of now. That is why even if you delete the ExtROM you would not see an increase in your UNIVERSAL's memory. The only good thing with unlocking the Ext ROM in the UNIVERSAL is so we can customize the Ext ROM to our liking. It will not act the same as the built-in memory. You can't store and run applications from them. This is in the UNIVERSAL, please correct me if I am wrong. BUZZ and the others are still working on how to merge the freed-up memory on the Ext ROM so that we can use it.
i have apps installed into my extended rom and it works fine, i have some games and tcpmp in there, no issues whatso ever.

WOW, how did you do it? How did you install apps in there?
copy cabs to sd, run them, choose extendedrom as the location, job done,
using buzz ext rom unlock and the reg keys to make it visible in the file system,
I agree with Carnivor - everything I installed on Extended ROM works fine.
I only faced performance issues when installing applications on storage card.
If Stanip read somewhere, 'extended rom would slow down Jasjar' -> Maybe the meaning was, that your Jasjar might be slow IF you did not install the software which came in the extended rom.
In my case I installed the software from extended rom (which is done automatically when first time staring the device), then moved all extended memory content to my storage card and enjoyed the 10 MB extra space to install programs.

Thanks, I guess I can try it the next time I perform a hard reset. What are your apps installed in the extension ROM. You mentioned that not all of them run smoothly from there?
Another question please, if I do install apps in the Ext ROM after running BUZZ unlocker and the registry tweak, does this mean the installed application survives a hard reset because it is now installed in the Ext ROM?
that is a good question, i imagine all will stay resident, but be hidden only needing the reg changes to make it visible again,
i dont really know, just assuming

I'm running in Extended_Rom all pluiggins that used "today". I'm running this for weeks and goes perfectly.

I don't see clear advantages installing on the extended rom except if you try to install more programs that the limit of the memory for programs, is it ok?

- Where did I find the registry hack to make the Extended ROM visible? I take it that it will make it visible even on the normal File Explorer and Resco Explorer?
- Will existing backup programs backup/image the data on the Extended ROM?

just a quick question when you make the extended rom visible and install a software to run from the extended rom do you hidden the extended rom again or leave it visible.
If you leave it visible can you tell me how does the pda see the storage card has storage card or as storage card2.

i called my extended_rom ExtendedRom, else if you dont rename it you end up messy,
I leave it visible, it shows up in system stats that way
it shows up in resco as a chip based storage similar icon to the storage memory, but instead of the pda in the background behind the chip it has a folder behind the chip
I don't know how many times I wrote to this forum:
"DON'T INSTALL AND RUN APPLICATIONS FROM EXTENDED ROM"
because you can damage it. use storage card if you need more space.
just tried to play the avatar clip via msn uk and saw a new error. It told me i had insufficient memory. i think the error was from adobe flash player. i am using ie. is there a was to direct this to sd as i have a lot of space there?
Did you try resetting your mobile after install? After install it crashed on me, I reset my mobile and it worked fine.
I did not install anything. I simply tried to run the trailer.
I got this error too and I have seen videos with the IE in the HD2 running embeded flash on sites. I will either get the error or no flash at all. What gives?!
UPDATE: It does show the flash some times. Weird.
I have the same issue in general. i want to open my calendar and it says no memory available go to task manager and exit programs. when i go to task manager all programs are already exited.... but it still gives me the message. when i restart it works but the same happens again after a while.... will that be the case all the time :S :S
(btw i just bought the phone 1 day ago so any tips would be helpful)

you should install cleanram as it helps free some ram...also get cleartemp as it'll show you what's eating your space up like googlemap and youtube caches so you can delete them easily...and finally don't forget to soft reset
one more very important thing which saves a LOT of space if you're on stock rom or your cooked rom doesnt have it(highly unlikely) is moving the album cache...read the thread here and look out for 4tune's cab
you should also read tboy200's thread and look at tips 65 and 67
Cleanram and cleantemp aren't going to solve that problem.
Leo has from 448 to 576MB of total ram, it's unlikely a human being would run enough programs to actually drain that all.
The problem lies in the virtual memory architecture: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/windows/VirtualMemory.aspx?msg=3360923, and alas it's nothing that can be solved, just somehow reduced byt for example flashing a custom rom that loads less libraries in VM at boot, for example, leaving more free VM.
clear the opera cash and it is done
ephestione has it right. in my experience, an out of memory error on the HD2 does NOT mean that there's not enough memory, it's just an architecture limitation that gives application errors.

Hi all, infact this problem is not related to this thread (in my opinion) but since i am a newbie and can't post to the related post, i choose to write down my problem here where i can find a solution..maybe..
Right now i am using Dorimanx's [24 MAY] Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 3.1.9 N277 ODEX NO-HOME-REFRESH+ ZRAM+ SKIN+ TWEAKS+ CRON Rom. I dont know if CRON or any other script is working smoothly, actually i dont know how to test them but, the real problem for me is totally apart from that.
I fixed the audio issue by flashing Magldr_kernel_iamgpc_294, -the flashable version of libaudio_v5-drizztje- i guess, after that i am facing with apps update issues, the apps that i am trying to update is giving "insufficient space" errors. I tried to uninstall and re-install alternatives but i cant even re-install the app that i uninstalled!!!

ok. i've recently started getting a message come up saying that i am almost out of space on my phone. when i checked it out there was 0.5mb remaining and 339mb used up!
so started deleting programmes i don't use via the application manager, and looked into any caches aroun that i could clear. it hasn't made much differrnce at all .
can someone tell me where all these huge files are or how i can free up a lot more room?
also it seems the g sensor has stopped working in any browser!
please can someone help. i'm tempted to start from scratch, but with the t mobile or vodafone stock roms (i'm on virgin and there's not been a rom update for a long while)
please help! i love my hd2 but i'm so tempted to go over to android on desire at this rate. just problem aftet problem, and i've got this phone for anothet 1.5 years! i just want it to work amazingly.

whoops the total storage is 180mb and the total free storage is 0.5 mb
did you check your ~recyclebin map? if not set to not use it all deleted files will go there
is tbere a recycle bin?? if so where is it?
i also looked in the windows foldet and it appears copilot is in there but it won't let me delete it . it's 6.5mb. . .
I think the recycle bin is a Resco thing!!
I’d had this before and found a temp file hogging 99mb of space on the phone memory. There is a search program in the start menu that will find these large files.
Application Data > HTC > HTC Album > Cache – is another source of memory hogging goodness. This doesn’t affect the operation of the Sense Tab, just grows every time you browse your photos. There is a hack on this site to move the cache to the storage card...
Other than that I would install a programme to clean out the temp files and folders. I use SKTools (have done for about 3 years) think it works perfectly, there are other freeware alternatives out there.

Chances are your device memory is clogged up with temporary files...first things first, look at a program called cleartemp as it'll help clean most of the cache files
Readtboy2000's thread and move your opera cache AND pictures from device to storage card AND delete Opera9 and OperaL file (reading all of his tips/tricks HELP a lot)
next, move your album cache using a cab developed by tune4 found here
Also, use cleanRam so you don't have to soft reset tooooo many times
and report back to us

and install all of the application for your HD2 in the mSD card

You should really give a custom ROM a go, my Energy ROM uses less than 50 megs on the internal memory. A couple of times a week I delete the album cache which can use 15megs or so, and it runs lovely and smooth.
I just downloaded froyostone sence v2 and everything works just great.
Except my android market i can start the download but the bar doesn't turn green like it loading.
i tried unmounting my sd card and all that but it doesn't seem to work.
any help would be appreciated...

I'm not sure what Green Bar you're talking about. The status of the download and installation appear in the top bar. It will automatically dl and install, then you just go to your apps page and find it...
the bar turns green or orange when it starts downloading

market enabler is usually for people who are either in regions where they dont allow the market or on roms that they dont allow certain apps.
I'm not sure what the deal is with your market. It would be of great help if you told us what rom you were using and if you are doing this via wifi. If i am in a area of low signal my downloads will stall just as yours have done.
Only suggestion I can make is to try a different rom. I know not a great suggestion but I dont think many have had this problem.

i tried mdeejays but i get stuck when loading rom on a screen that has the green android and Levak (don't think that name is right) @ xda.

Go to any Google search bar and type in "Clear Temp for Windows Mobile" this is an app that will clear all of the temperary folders and files on your HD2. It allows you to choice wich apps you want to clear the temp files and folders too so if you don't want to clear a certain set for a certain app like YouTube for instance you can uncheck it. Also do a seperate search for "Clean Ram for Windows Mobile" it frees up ram on your HD2 so you can keep your memory level with only the app tht you are currently using. This is not a task manager although when you run this app it will close all open apps at that time. I use to get the same message using opera but don' t get it at all now that I use these apps daily. Also while you have Oprera open touch on the soft key at the bottom right hand corner of the screen then touch on the same spot again when tbe bar comes up this should bring up a pop up box select settings from there and then select advanced. In advanced you can set the cache size to maximum this will help resolve your issue too.

This is very good advice. I was under the impression that the downloads folder was cleared when you deleted the cache or used ClearTemp. Out of curiosity I just checked my download folder and it still has my last five downloads there and I have cleared my cache and used ClearTemp atleast three times today.
Another way of not having this problem with the download folder is to not select open when you download something. If you select save as you can rename the download what hou want to name it and choose where to save it at. I try to save my downloads on my SD card.
