not enough memory issue - HD2 General

just tried to play the avatar clip via msn uk and saw a new error. It told me i had insufficient memory. i think the error was from adobe flash player. i am using ie. is there a was to direct this to sd as i have a lot of space there?

Did you try resetting your mobile after install? After install it crashed on me, I reset my mobile and it worked fine.

I did not install anything. I simply tried to run the trailer.

I got this error too and I have seen videos with the IE in the HD2 running embeded flash on sites. I will either get the error or no flash at all. What gives?!
UPDATE: It does show the flash some times. Weird.

I have the same issue in general. i want to open my calendar and it says no memory available go to task manager and exit programs. when i go to task manager all programs are already exited.... but it still gives me the message. when i restart it works but the same happens again after a while.... will that be the case all the time :S :S
(btw i just bought the phone 1 day ago so any tips would be helpful)
Thankss

you should install cleanram as it helps free some ram...also get cleartemp as it'll show you what's eating your space up like googlemap and youtube caches so you can delete them easily...and finally don't forget to soft reset
one more very important thing which saves a LOT of space if you're on stock rom or your cooked rom doesnt have it(highly unlikely) is moving the album cache...read the thread here and look out for 4tune's cab
you should also read tboy200's thread and look at tips 65 and 67

Cleanram and cleantemp aren't going to solve that problem.
Leo has from 448 to 576MB of total ram, it's unlikely a human being would run enough programs to actually drain that all.
The problem lies in the virtual memory architecture: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/windows/VirtualMemory.aspx?msg=3360923, and alas it's nothing that can be solved, just somehow reduced byt for example flashing a custom rom that loads less libraries in VM at boot, for example, leaving more free VM.

clear the opera cash and it is done

ephestione has it right. in my experience, an out of memory error on the HD2 does NOT mean that there's not enough memory, it's just an architecture limitation that gives application errors.

Insufficient space error in Play Store
Hi all, infact this problem is not related to this thread (in my opinion) but since i am a newbie and can't post to the related post, i choose to write down my problem here where i can find a solution..maybe..
Right now i am using Dorimanx's [24 MAY] Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 3.1.9 N277 ODEX NO-HOME-REFRESH+ ZRAM+ SKIN+ TWEAKS+ CRON Rom. I dont know if CRON or any other script is working smoothly, actually i dont know how to test them but, the real problem for me is totally apart from that.
I fixed the audio issue by flashing Magldr_kernel_iamgpc_294, -the flashable version of libaudio_v5-drizztje- i guess, after that i am facing with apps update issues, the apps that i am trying to update is giving "insufficient space" errors. I tried to uninstall and re-install alternatives but i cant even re-install the app that i uninstalled!!!
Solution?

Error: remove programs..." x was not completely removed

I tried to install ClearVue PDF from the O2 supplied CD and it failed (with error messages in German!) - however when I tried to 'remove programs' I get the above message and ClearVue is still listed under programs. Ditto with Skype. These are the only 2 things I have added since switching my XDa mini s on for the first time. How should I uninstall these properly....so I can start again! Thanks
Well if you want to install it. Try installing it again. Then if fails again download the latest version of it from their website and install that. Hopefully you will have the registration key installed and it will work. Otherwise you will at least have an English error message.
Thanks
I'll try the web site - looks like I can't just download ClearVue - does it all come witin the 'software update' bundle?
No no no! ;-) The Clearvue website http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/pdf/ As long as the install you have made registered it the trial version will be installed as fully operational.
Thanks
I'll have a go...
Sometimes a program wont delete because its running. make sure you have nothing running before removing it
Is this not an issue with the persistent memory in the Wizard? I've never been able to uninstall things, always comes up with that error, but installing an AKU 2.3 ROM seems to have solved the problem.
I think it's a persistent issue - I've tried every way of uninstalling (from Xda and PC via ActiceSync etc) and ClearVue is still there (and not working). However last comment slightly too techy for me (sorry - just a user....)? Is this an OS upgrade....?
The ROM is an OS upgrade, read all about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53954&highlight=
Whether the newer ROM solves the problem, someone better informed than me will have to tell you. It may just be coincidence that I can now uninstall programs properly??

camera problems

Hello everyone,
I want to first say that I am new to these boards and am glad I have found them.
My problem is everytime I try to use my camera it tells me I dont have enough memory and to stop all running progs.
I stop them all and the problem still presist. It seems to work after I reboot the phone but returns to that after I start using some prog.
Is there a way to fix this or should I just reboot everytime?
Any help is appriciated.
Thanks.

try flashing one of the ROMS they have here.. the reason why ur getting that is because ur running low on memory (ram). and the stock Rom the phone comes with just plain doesnt do the job. or try looking for the hibernate.cab maybe that can free up memory so u wont have to reboot all the time
You can also try the PagePool to reduce the size from the Stock 12 MB to your choice of 4 or 6.
I installed the pagepool but I cant get it to run the backup.bat file.
Error "There is no application associated with "backup". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application".
Am I missing something?

You run it from your PC while the phone is synced with your PC. Not from the phone.
I actually tried that first but it didn't do anything but I'll give it another try.
Maybe I did something wrong.

can't help you or tell you the reason because you are not giving enough details about what you are trying to install, what is going wrong. How are you trying to install. Exe or .cab files. are you just getting error's during the installation
i tried to install .cab & .exe , but it says install unsuccessful, for example SPB & Battery status
mmmm
On what ?... is the cab on the phone or on the PC ???????
i tried both , but i couldnt
You have the HTC Touch Elf right? No cabs at all are instaling on your phone.
Possibiliites:
1. The cab files are being currupted either while you are downloading them or while you are sending them to your phone. FYI Cab files are to be installed via your phone not PC. Transfer the complete cab to phone and just click it to install - Do Not Unzip it. (A cab file looks like it is a zip file or a rar file wen it is on your PC but don't be fooled. it is a cab and does not need to be unzipped) you will only see a bunch of messy files and will just get confuzed. just place the cab on your phone and tap it with your stylus to initiate install
Exe's are to be installed via your PC to your phone through activsinc. place the exe on your desktop (Or wherever) and connect your phone to your PC using Activsinc. Then click the exe on your desktop and follow installation instructions - NOte you will have to still do some clicking on your phone to allow the installation.
2. you are not installing them properly and therfore follow instructions above.
3. your phone is currupt somehow (I don't see how) Try a hard reset and see if the programs will install after that. if not, you might want to return your phone for warranty (I am assuming you just got this phone and this is the first time you are trying to install something.
4. Maybe you have run out of room on your device to install any more applications (if you have been installing tons of other stuff successfully)
I have never gotten any errors installing cabs or exe's exept for when I was trying to install something that my phone did not support. (Not a valid WM application) or something like that.
Edit: You still are not give us much information - What type of error are you getting - What does your phone show/tell you?
Does it start to install and fail half way through? does it not start at all? does it install and the programs just do not run?
Tell us what program you are trying to install - what error you are getting and when you are getting it. Tell us the method you have used to install it etc....
If you want help you will have to provide us with as much information and detail as you can. Otherwise - Good Luck.
I will check back here regularly to see your response and try to help, but if you don't give us much more detail - no one will be able to help you.
Did you flashed your ROM recently?
it start to install and fail half way through, but not all of the softwares , for example i cant install tcpmp,wm router , battery status , and alot of softwares , the error is always the same ( it start to install and fail half way through)

I don't know about battery status or wm router but TCPMP is an exe type installation. if you try to install this using your phone by putting the TCPMP installation on your phone and clicking to install, it won't work. You have to put the installation file on your computer, connect your device to your computer through activesinc. then click the TCPMP Installation on your desktop and follow instructions. Make sure you accept installation on your device when your device asks. The others may be the same
i did like that , but nothing changed , same message , install unsuccessful

Are you trying to install to your storage card or to device? Are you certain that you have enough storage space left?
Do you have any problems with Activsinc?
Have you tried downloading another copy of TCPMP - Maybe the copy you have is no good.
yeh , i tried on both storage and device memory , i have 1.5 gb remaining on storage also
my active sync is working in perfect condition, i dont know wht happend , ok , is there anything that i can upgrade my phone ???

I don't know if I can help you with this problem. I have never had any problems installing anything onto my device even when the app wasn't compatible. usually still installed, just wouldn't run. I am still using official stock WM 6.0 rom that came on my device. (have not ever flashed a new ROM or Radio and don't know anything about that. If you did flash a new ROM or radio, that could be what is causing your problems and you may want to examine in the thread where you got your ROM or Radio from for answers or to see if anyone else is having the same difficulties. Perhaps PM the person who cooked the ROM. If you havn't flashed any new ROM or Radio, then maybe you changed something in your registry that you shouldn't have with a registry editor (just a thought - don't know if you have ever done this) or maybe you have an app on your phone that is causing conflict when trying to install other apps. You can always try a hard reset of your device (if you don't mind starting from scratch again customizing your device) and then try installing TCPMP and see if it works right after a hard reset. That would suggest either something was changed in your registry or that another app was causing conflict. Bit of a pain in the a## having to reinstall everything(unless you don't have much installed on your device) and still no guarantee that it will work. Before doing a hard reset, you might want to look into backing up your device. (I don't know anyting about backing up - what program to use or how much it can back up such as setting or such but you might want to check it out. Also make sure you sincronize your device with your computer prior to hard reset so that all your contacts, appointments etc... are up to date that way after a hard reset you can just syncronize your device again and get your contacts and appointments etc... back.
If anyone else has any suggestions here -- Please feel free to jump in. I know that I would be really annoyed not being able to install new apps to my device.
Good luck. I hope this gets figured out for you
Rod
i had the same problem, it was unbelievably frustrating, i had to restore my X1i to factory settings, that fixed the problem.
I think you should follow hotrod101's suggestion and do a hard reset. Its quite likely that your phone has malfunctioned or something. It's probably going to save you a lot of work in the long run. Or turn in your device in one of the HTC service centers as already stated. Don't forget to back all your stuff up first.
Good Luck.
thanx alot
you did not say whether your rom is original or coked as i met some problems with cocked roms in installing arabic based applications that was easily installed before flashing me device
Did you get things figured out - If so please share with the rest what you did to solve your problem, in case others are having similar problems. Did one of our suggestions help or did you find another solution?
same problem on my Touch Pro, seams to be common ... some say that it is due to the fixed number (50 installed programs) on the touch flue ... however, I have no more information of how did they got this result, or what is the registry of this issue???
I hope if someone help on this to avoide us the headache cused by hard reset, just thinking about it make me crazy.
even hard reset is not a solution.

[APP] Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 .CAB

Dear friends,
due to a lot of requests regarding Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 in .CAB format,I will now try to help.
Although Net Framework 3.5 can be found elsewhere on this wonderful forum, the procedure for installation is not understandable for non experienced users. Many TP2 users contacted me and asked what to do and how to install this application, because there is no .CAB file on Microsoft Support web page.
Therefore,I will give my small contribution to all TP2 users,so everybody can install this important component the easiest way. Most of the applications for TP2 requires this version of Framework,WM 6.5 ROMs especially.
Moderators, please make this sticky if you agree, because there is no .CAB version of Net Framework 3.5 in Rhodium section.
Also,a mirror link for Net Framework 3.5 is also available
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YXT2IFVL
http://rapidshare.de/files/39254419/NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab.html
Instructions:
Simply download the file to your PC,and then transfer it to your Memory Card. However,it is recommended for this file to be installed in Phone Memory.
Hope being helpful,
regards,
Alex.
Thanks for your efforts, Alex.
I have a problem when trying to install. I don't have access right now but I get an error message. Something about running out of memory. Close programs and try again. Any ideas?
Yeah, close programs!
Try installing after a fresh reboot. First, do you have any memory to accommodate the program on your device?
Try to close or remove some programs

Dear friend,
you should find out how much memory remains on your phone...
Net Framework 3.5 takes about 6.5 MB of storage....why did you fill the entire device memory at the first place?!
Anyway, try that and let me know. I hope you will make it.
You would be waisting very precious space on your phone if you install this to your main phone memory. This can be installed to your SD card with no problems and no performance issues. I have been using it from my SD for nearly a year with no problems at all.
Hi this may be a dumb question. and im obviously a newbie but what does this program do exactly?

It provides a framework for programs to run on your mobile device. Many newer apps rely on this version to be able to run properly. I strongly suggest that you use it because you will find that lots of the stuff here on the forum will not run without it. Install to your memory card though or you will loose a hell of a lot of space. Just remember that if you remove your memory card you also remove any programs on it.

I am aware of that,of course, but due to frequent Memory Card removal, for many purposes,I did not want to interrupt Framework 3.5 from operating fully. If it is installed on Memory Card as you did,you will interrupt NF 3.5,and disable its function every time when you remove the card. And that is not useful. Net Framework 3.5 is supposed to operate constantly on the device.
An it takes only about 6 MB of storage,so it is still plenty left, right?

I never remove my card and no, I think you will find that 6mb of space on these phones internal memory is like gold dust. After a while you will know what I mean. Please dont be offended by what I am saying, I'm just giving some advice if you want it. It's great that you have brought this to peoples attention and they will find it very useful
It is the matter of choice.
Well,dear friend,of course I am not offended,God forbid.
I took your advice, but Net Framework 3.5 is the only program I installed in the phone memory. Everything else is on my card, and you are right about saving space in the phone. I just said,if someone is removing memory card frequently,in that case,I think it is maybe better to install this important component in phone memory.
However, the most important thing is that our users can download this file in .CAB. Location of the file itself,is up to users choice, right?
Take care fellow.

how do i free up space on my phone?!

ok. i've recently started getting a message come up saying that i am almost out of space on my phone. when i checked it out there was 0.5mb remaining and 339mb used up!
so started deleting programmes i don't use via the application manager, and looked into any caches aroun that i could clear. it hasn't made much differrnce at all .
can someone tell me where all these huge files are or how i can free up a lot more room?
also it seems the g sensor has stopped working in any browser!
please can someone help. i'm tempted to start from scratch, but with the t mobile or vodafone stock roms (i'm on virgin and there's not been a rom update for a long while)
please help! i love my hd2 but i'm so tempted to go over to android on desire at this rate. just problem aftet problem, and i've got this phone for anothet 1.5 years! i just want it to work amazingly.
many thanks

whoops the total storage is 180mb and the total free storage is 0.5 mb
did you check your ~recyclebin map? if not set to not use it all deleted files will go there
is tbere a recycle bin?? if so where is it?
i also looked in the windows foldet and it appears copilot is in there but it won't let me delete it . it's 6.5mb. . .
I think the recycle bin is a Resco thing!!
I’d had this before and found a temp file hogging 99mb of space on the phone memory. There is a search program in the start menu that will find these large files.
Application Data > HTC > HTC Album > Cache – is another source of memory hogging goodness. This doesn’t affect the operation of the Sense Tab, just grows every time you browse your photos. There is a hack on this site to move the cache to the storage card...
Other than that I would install a programme to clean out the temp files and folders. I use SKTools (have done for about 3 years) think it works perfectly, there are other freeware alternatives out there.

Chances are your device memory is clogged up with temporary files...first things first, look at a program called cleartemp as it'll help clean most of the cache files
Readtboy2000's thread and move your opera cache AND pictures from device to storage card AND delete Opera9 and OperaL file (reading all of his tips/tricks HELP a lot)
next, move your album cache using a cab developed by tune4 found here
Also, use cleanRam so you don't have to soft reset tooooo many times
and report back to us
+1 with damnshah
and install all of the application for your HD2 in the mSD card
oh thank you all!
it worked! i know have 112mb free instead of 0.5 mb!
now if only there was a new officiall WWE rom update my life would be complete....
Darren
Is there any way to move Youtube temp folder to storage card?
Mike
You should really give a custom ROM a go, my Energy ROM uses less than 50 megs on the internal memory. A couple of times a week I delete the album cache which can use 15megs or so, and it runs lovely and smooth.
