[Q] WIFI Ip Settings Manual - Wildfire General

Wondering if anyone could help on this one?
My Wireless Router is not setup to Automatic/DHCP it is set to manual.
My DNS settings are suppose to be 192.168.137.1, however in my HTC Wildfire Android 2.1 device I am unable to change the settings.
I did manage to come across this post:
URL blocked
Which is great and I tried to edit/access the stuff however it keeps saying
"Denied"
Can someone please offer me some advice on how I am able to edit the IP settings
on my Android device!

Manual IP setting
You can go to Settings-> Wireless & Networks->wifi settings select menu on phone then click advanced option, you can set the ip ,Gateway etc there...
hope this helps..

Thank you so much apurvc, I did what you said and it worked, just did not know why I did not try it before?
Well now it is here for people to read and know about!

Proxy Settings MIA

Help...
I have a HTC 3600 (handy as I'm posting in this forum ) and I have been trying to connect it to my work wireless setup. This is fairly locked down and has a hidden SSID and requires me to enter credentials (user name, password) to access the web. I can successfully connect to the Wi-Fi, I am issued with IP address etc but can't then take the next step to connect it to the web.
I have found an area to add a proxy with username and password - I do this but still nothing. One odd thing is that when I then go back to try editing the proxy settings 9 times out of 10 it has vanished and I have to create it again!!
This is causing much hair pulling!
Any direction/help in this would be great as I am now a little stuck.
I am on AX3L v3.0.9 build.
Cheers
Update
I have found out that if there are two settings in the connections summary - such as 'My Work Network' and in my case 'etisalat UAE' the proxy setting never gets lost. Is this a quirk, is there something that I am not understanding (I know the obv. answer to the last question is yes!)
This now brings me to my nest challenge which is how do you arrange these connections? What I mean is that if I am at work/home and have a wi-fi link active how do I get the device to pick this in preference to a GPRS connection which it should use at all other times? I have tried looking for some kind of guide so I can work through this my self but no luck so far..... if anyone knows of such a thing or can point me in the right direction then please reply to this.
Cheers

Internet Connection issue on 8525 AT&T.

Hi all,
I don't know weho else to turn to, I have extinguished all of my resources, with no luck you guys are my last hope with this issue.
when I try to use external programs like Skype or windows update on the device, it tells me to check my internet setting. BUT the internet explorer works great and I am able to use high speed internet.
As soon as I try to access internet form a 3rd pary software it won't let me.
If any one knows what this thing is all about, please help me resolve this issue.
Many thanx in an advance,
Genek.
perhaps try disabling the at&t proxy, that seems to work for me in some programs....
Start>Settings>Connections Tab>Connections>Advanced Tab
then click Select Networks, if MEdia Net is selected in the top dropdown list, click edit, and go to proxy settings tab and uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
Warning...if u disable the proxy you wont be able to receive mms messages until you re-enable the proxy...if you need to re-enable it, its "wireless.cingular.com"
Thank you so much. The problem was that I had the proxy server entered wrong. I had as "wireless.cingular" for some reason, all I did was ad ".com" and everything worked with proxy enabled.
Thank you,
Genek

data connection/apn/3g/edge

Hi
I cant seem to manage to go on the internet with my blackstone. Ive tried to set up proxy servers and all that sutff from my provider, but nothing helps. Its kinda frustrating that its so difficult to solve. Can anyone please help me with this? With like a step by step solution, to what to put in where?
I use norwegian netcom, probably not what you guys know about though.
apn is in most cases the only thing one need to set
proxy's is an optional service to get a faster dl of caches

Thank you. But this doesnt work for me, as i dont have the same menu in the step by step there, and i cant do all that says there as it not the same as on my blackstone. Btw, the edge, and 3g icon is on title bar on the phone, and under advanced config and connections, it says my internet is enabled. But when i go into it, it says that its disabled. Its so frustrating.

Internet Access

I bought an Htc magic today and I am having trouble trying to find out how to disable the automatic connection to internet by GPRS. Can somebody help me?
Hello. Good question. Took me a little to find it. I actually have a widget that I can turn the GRS off and on anytime. Its a Battery Widget. Very handy. However to answer your issue from the dashboard "homescreen"
click MENU > SETTINGS > SECURITY&LOCATION > Then uncheck Enable GPS
lol zelda, not GPS, GPRS....2 totally different animals.
cunha11 i would delete out your apn info. it can be found under
settings-> wireless and networks --> mobile networks --> access point names
some people have reported that apn info will get re-filled in upon reboot but i think that may be carrier dependent.
so just click on your access point and delete all the fields available..
give that a shot
edit: forgot there is an app called apndroid in the market, give that a try
LOL sorry, my bad. I misread that. I read these forums at work in between Service requests. HEH. looks like he got it though.

Please refer to the software vendor for further assistance. As far as we know this application may not be compatible. We hope that you will find further assistance with the software developer.
