Instant Rebate via Sprint Store? - Epic 4G General

Is there anyway to get the instant rebate instead of mail in rebate via a Sprint Store on the Epic?
There's a few options for reserving/pre-order and I'm struggling with which to do. Of course, I'd like to have the phone in hand on 8/31 and not have to wait, but really don't want to have to deal with a mail in rebate. Why can't Sprint, the actual carrier, do an instant rebate like all the retailers!?!?!
Sprint Store ($249.99 after all discounts/rebates) - Get the phone on 8/31, no wait. Bill my account so it's not the full amount right then. Mail in rebate hassle.
https://sprint.timetrade.com/tc/ReservePhone.do?method=load&postalCode=
Best Buy ($255.49 after all discounts/rebates w/shipping) - Phone ships on 8/31, wouldn't get it until 15-21 days later. Instant rebate. Can't just have my account billed.

Radio Shack ($259.98 after all discounts/rebates w/shipping) - Phone ships on 8/31, wouldn't get it until 15-21 days later. Instant rebate. Can't just have my account billed.

CellularDeals.com ($239.99 after all discounts/rebates w/shipping) - Phone ships on 8/31, wouldn't get it until 15-21 days later. Instant rebate. Can't just have my account billed.

why can you not get your phone 15-21 days later when ordering from BB or RS? Also, why not just go into the store and get it same day like the Sprint Store?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say..
If you pre-order from BB or RS, you cannot pick it up in store.
If you pre-order online, whether it be through BB, RS, etc, the phone ships on the release date, 8/31, so you won't get the phone until 15-21 days later according to the shipping estimates, but the upside is no mail in rebate as all the retailers offer the instant rebate. If you reserve the phone at your local Sprint store and walk in on the release date to pick it up, upside is you get the phone that day, downside is that you have to screw with the mail in rebate....which prompted my original question, is there any way to get the instant rebate from the Sprint store option.
It comes down to which sacrifice you're making....dealing with the mail in rebate to get the phone sooner, or having to wait 2-3 weeks for the phone to ship to get the instant rebate. I'd rather not do either which is why I asked.

I just don't understand how they could ship the phone on 8/31 and it take 15-21 days. Maybe they mean 15-21 days from today you'll recieve it.
Why can't you go into a Best Buy store and buy the phone with instant rebate right there and not wait for shipping?

Sigh... no instant rebate via Sprint, period. Why can't you just stop by a Radio Shack or Best Buy. I doubt its going to be as popular as the Evo and probably have more in stock too.

Both BB & RS ship via FedEx Standard Ground, so depending on from where they're shipping, it could take quite a while to get to you.

Hold up, how about RS? Are they offering in-store pick up? 15-21 days is a long period.

Shipping from Union, NJ to San Diego, CA (across the US) will take less than a week by FedEx Express Saver (shipping Monday, arriving Thursday). I don't know where you are shipping to, but it's never taken me 15-21 days in shipping time by FedEx.

that is through their website. Try going into a store and asking.

Coucher, unless you live in Alaska or Hawaii or elsewhere outside the conUS ground shipping doesn't take 15 days. IDK maybe the legal dept. Made them say that on the website.

OK so I actually read your screen capture. When they say " ships in 15-21 business days" they are saying 15-21 days and THEN they ship it. If they say elsewhere in the ordering process that it ships same day, then it should.
Its not your fault, I'm prob. dating myself here but when I went to school they had a course called reading comprehension, prob. fell victom to budget cuts.

Actually I just preordered from radioshack and I pick the phone up in store the day its released. And what's funny is 8/20/10 is the pickup date, although the 31st is the date releaased.

Best Buy and Radio Shack definitely offer in-store pickup. You need to preorder it at the store, not on the website.

I don't think you're understanding what they are trying to tell you.
Physically walk into a Radioshack and reserve your phone. On the 31st, you'll be able to physically walk into the same Radioshack and pick it up. Completely ignore the online part.

I go in on the 31st to pick it up, at the store for 249.99

Dude, you're wrong. You can go into bby on launch day and get one if in stock. Obviously the placeholder on their site is reflecting a product that hasn't been released yet, standard procedure for every product not yet released but placed on the site.

I just put myself on the reservation list at BB. I had to put down a $50 deposit and in return they gave me a $50 gift card and a spot on the list. He said they would have them available on the 31st, but he wanted a contact number in case they came in early.

sprint if you dont have the money on hand

If you call Telesales and tell them that you want a new phone but you dont want to deal with rebates, they will work with you. I got my wife's that way but im getting mine at BB... can wait!!!

Okay I have a question and I'm not sur eif I posted it on the correct thread, but whatever. What is the full retail price for the Epic?? Because I'm seeing different prices, but I spoke to a Sprint Rep today and she told me that she believe it is $449.99. Other sites are saying $500.00. I have a $75 upgrade and I'm making sure I have everything saved up to get it on Tuesday. Thanks

[Q] Radio Shack-Cheaper than Tmobile?

So Ive heard that the G2 will be available at some point in Radio Shack stores. Has anyone upgraded a phone through Radio Shack? If the price is really 150 with an upgrade (not a brand new contract) I can wait. If this only applies to a new contract I'm preordering with out delay.
I'm dying to get this phone someone help a brotha out!

I've never bought a phone through Radio Shack but yeah it'll be $149.
Thanks for the link. Stll wondering if that applies to a 2 year upgrade or brand new contract. I enjoyed the G1 and actually got it for $150 through T-Mobile. Im not trying to spend 200 bucks on this phone but I will if I have to. Sorry for the question everyone, I just feel so dumb when the device is 50 bucks cheaper somewhere else or cause you get it at a later time.
My buddy works at RadioShack and apparently his store isn't doing preorders, so call around first to see which stores are accepting preorders. Proceed to ask them if current T-Mo subscribers are eligible.
Happy hunting!

according to the press release, it'll be new contracts only for best buy.. not sure about Radio Shack though
Can't you get a $50 mail-in-rebate from TMobile anyway?
...Many said they got that in the "I just preordered" thread.

If Radioshack is offering the phone at a lower price it will most definitely be for new customers and usually existing customers that are past 22 months since their last discounted upgrade.

i talked to some friends that work for radioshack and it will be 150 for an upgrade but they didnt say how long you had to have been on your contract to get the upgrade. i guess the best way is to wait til launch day and try to get one and see if your eligible for the pricing
^Thats good to hear, I'll be checking them out.
Wish tmob corp stores would sell at same price tho.
So looks like its 199 for upgrade price at the shack but they'll sell it on 10/3
Im getting it from the shack for 150 also, i have the N1 on the everything+ plan, and i don't feel like shelling out another 500 bucks, so ill be hopping onto a contract and ditching my new epic! #****sprintandthatstupid$10fee
If you are upgrading get it through T-mobile, thats what I did.
Just call 611 and say "retention" when it asks what you're calling about.
I told the retention rep that radioshack was offering it for $150 without rebate but they
weren't offering pre-orders and asked if I could pre-order for that price.
It is gonna cost me $180 after tax but I was told by my local T-mo store that I
should still be able to get the Mail in rebate which would bring my total cost down to $130
Really you got the best deal so far if you do get the rebate.
I saw some people call loyalty to get it for 150 plus tx, free ship, waived upgrade fee.
But I havent see anyone get the rebate on top of that to be at 130.
You should call for me haha, I'll give it a try to see what happens.

Loyalty gave me $99+tax with no upg fee. All in the form of a $180 credit on my account. I elected for $5.99 shipping which somehow mysteriously got upgraded to 3 day select. Now i'm wondering if I could also try processing the $50 rebate, but that's probably pushing it.

I was gonna buy it in the store on the sixth but after reading what you guys paid now I'm thinking I may pre-order it Friday.
Question: When I call should I ask for "loyalty" or "retention" in order to get a better deal. I've been with T-Mobile for more than seven years and have never even been late with a payment. I've been out of contract for the last three years but really don't want to pay full price for this phone. Advice is welcome.

I think either will do, if you have been with them for 7 years they will give you a good deal no matter what. I think what helped me was saying "I really want to get a EVO 4G but if I can get a good deal on the G2 I would like to stay with T-mobile"
Ok I called and got it for 149+tax=164, no ship or upgrade fee, I'm happy with that.
No go on 99 tho, I tried but I did use ogbrogs 'sprint evo' line to get my deal.
Thx for the heads up people!
how do tmobile stores not have a display unit
come on tmobile marketing. people are getting the phone and radioshack is getting it the 3rd

Looks like Costco will be selling the Xoom on Feb 24th and a little plus is that it will have a $35 mail in rebate to take care of the stupid 1 month data requirement...
Looks like I will be going to Costco on the 24th.. Great thing is Costco has a great return policy (90 days) so if price drops within that time period its definitely going back for price adjustment or just return and re buy...
Wow, I'll bet BestBuy will match the activation fee now. Let the price wars begin!
With the activation fee waved, the first month of service is manageable. Or perhaps it can be canceled within 3 days as others have speculated for a refund.

Doubtful as Best Buy cannot do anything with your bill. They might be willing to take 35 dollars off the price of the thing, but very doubtful
Is this true? If so I just jizzed in my pants. My family calls me a Costco Evangelist. I was all worried that I would have to return this tablet every 14 days at Best Buy until a wifi-only version came out.
With Costco I might keep it, or just return it once when the wifi-only version comes out. Costco is awesome, beyond their EPIC return window, they also have an almost unlimited return policy for things that stop working. I have returned things 12 months later with no problem.
Were you seriously going to return and repurchase a xoom every 14 days just so you can say you have the thing first?
I'm not sure that that's something you should openly admit to, just seems sad.

Sad, nah. Exploitive, yes. The problem is that I want a wifi-only version, but I need a tablet now. I have been needing one for a few months now, but was unhappy with all the options available. If they would do the wise thing and release the wifi-only version first or simultaneously, I wouldn't have to play games. Or if they didnt mark it up 250$

Heh, good point, my bad =)
Take this with a grain of salt but I spoke with one of the phone guys at costco on the 15th and he said they expected to have it for about $100 less than best buy and verizon just like they currently do on the galaxy tab. I tend to believe that considering marking a $500 item down to $400 is a lot bigger of a cut than knocking an $800 item down to $700 is.
I talked to my buddy at the costco (yea i work there myself). The email said they will get the live demo starting on the 22nd. It also said starting the 24th they would get the actually product. It didn't say the price though. You WILL be required to get a month of service. The rumor is about $100 less just like the samsung tab. If i get anymore info, i'll keep this updated. I'm also waiting to get it myself.
Now how about the Wifi version $100 less at $500!!! Oh, what joy that would bring!
I really want this soon, price is my only concern. They better announce the Wifi version next week and say it's coming in no more than 1-2 weeks, I've waited far too long...I can't stand it...

Something to keep in mind with this pre-order deal.
Most credit cards offer some kind of warranty. My american express for instance extends the manufacturers warranty by 1 year, the first three months is protected by theft and accidental damage protection insurance.
The catch? The entire purchase must be made on the card. So if you put $50 down as a pre-order, and they give you a gift card, and you return to purchase it using the gift card, essentially you are only putting $750 of the $800 on your card and thus the extended warranty / damage protection aren't eligible.
I've used the 90 days damage protection and the extended warranty. They issued a full refund to my card both times.
Just something else to consider with the pre-order deal.
Just preordered one over at the Rockaway, NJ location, smooth as butter. No issues, very straight forward. I was the 2nd person to preorder one. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
The pre order money is put on a gift card and does not need to be used at time of purchase.
I was hoping the free trade program was in place still but it expires before the launch.
At 100 dollars I believe selling it myself will net me dramatically more. I expect to get less for the convienence however find charging me for the option is a joke.

I was hoping our local stores would have some kind of model in stock to show off.. I was dissapointed.
I went to the Montgomery, Al store. I was the first one there to pre-order. I walked over to the mobile department and asked to pre-order the Xoom. The saleswoman asked for my phone number to call me when it comes out. She charged my $50 for the gift card and asked me what time I wanted to set up an appointment. I told her and then asked if my 10% off coupon would work (it said "No contract phones"). She said "Yes, it shouldn't be a problem. If not, I will do something, it is only 10%". So I took my receipt and left. 4-5 min. total.

I would like to know about this coupon too. I just preordered at Best in the West Best Buy in Las Vegas.. Store 122 I think. I plan to buy from Costco if I can, but I wanted to hedge my bets. I can always use the giftcard towards a case and dock. I want the speaker dock, but I don't think I can justify 130$ total, technically 80$ just for speakers.
Interestingly.. the spelling errors went to print.

Oh okay. Most of BB's stuff is way overpriced, so I am not willing to spend the kind of money to become a silver member. I guess it's good they give you something for paying their prices

Yeah I agree, I don't usually buy that much from them anymore... just big stuff that you can't really get cheap anywhere else (i.e. MacBook Pro). It also helps when you have known the managers at the stores for 5-9 years. They generally help make things reasonable for their loyal customers. However, I still think the Xoom is overpriced, but the 10% makes it more tolerable. Did anyone notice any accessories in stock at their BB?

I didn't see any accessories in stock. But I have never seen accessories in stock for a device prior to release. Hell, for the EVO I recall they barely had anything in stock on release day. Based on the preorder form, I imagine they are going to have the portfolio case SKU 2103374 and the Standard Dock SKU 2129336 at release. 4 more days.. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
It didn't make sense, but when I stopped in to pre-order at the Jacksonville, FL Airport Best Buy, I was told by the associate that my final price would be $600 or $800 depending on CONTRACT.
Did carrier subsidies start on non-phone devices for contracts? It that the debacle about activation and reactivation?
I suppose, with something like device + activation being $635, plus $20x12, $240. I would still eat a $40 charge on subsidy for a larger up-front discount, for the crap plan.
Activating that, and tethering to my Incredible. Otherwise PlayOn/Netflix will break the bank.
I guess he could have read enough to know the price for the wifi version, and just spouted that off as well.
The fine print on their Buy Back promotion being free another week, which I just caught after suggesting it to people, just because it's free, says at the Best Buy Mobile stores, for applying it to tablets. So, if you really want $400 back in six months, or the option in case resale goes down in a flooded market, buy at a Best Buy Mobile.
Now to wait for Thursday!

You must be careful. The first person I talked to spewed general information because they thought the XOOM was a phone.

The Sprint Headache Begins...

So before this point I have NEVER had a problem with sprint.
Like a normal EVO fanboy I was dying just to pre order my EVO LTE. May 7th came around and i quickly went to sprint.com to pre order. *click, click, *click*
My HTC EVO 4G LTE was pre ordered! Wait, the total is $245.74
A few hours passed and I kept seeing how this site "wirefly" was selling the EVO LTE for 150 bucks with no sales tax and free shipping! I was kinda eh about it because i never heard of the site.
A few more hours passed and saw that the price on wirefly dropped to 119.99!! what a deal! if i would to cancel my order with sprint id saved over 100 bucks!
I quickly call sprint and have been calling sprint. EVERY agent i talk to they tell me i CAN NOT cancel my pre order, the only way i can cancel it is when its about to ship and i have to "refuse" the shipment.
I have called them over 10 times now with each time having a different agent every time, still no luck with this.
Has anyone had any luck with canceling the pre order from sprint??? If so, what was your trick?? I even pulled the "I have been a loyal customer for sprint for over 7 years now"
Sprint customer service reps don't even work for sprint. I have had just about lost my mind until a tech at a corporate store told me they are in a call center some where and have no idea about the phones, and can't do anything that their contract won't allow. Your best bet is live chat on the web site. Once the pre order is made they pay the manufacture ahead of time so you really can't cancel your order. If you refuse your order it will take a looooooonnnnnggggggg time to get your money back.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.....Wayne Gretzky....
i was thinking of trying the 100% satisfaction guarantee method.. its a long shot but they guarantee if i dont like i can return it
I had the same problem with a phone I ordered, then decided I didnt want from an actual Sprint store...I had to wait for it to come in and refuse it, it was a headache, but only because I had to wait a few days for everything to play out.
Not sure about wirefly, but usually when you order from sprint online, the activation fee is waived...(could save you some bux!)
$119.99? I pre-ordered yesterday for $149.99 from Wirefly. I think they have a pre-order price match guarantee though so I might have to call them.
Also, Sprint has to charge sales tax because they have brick and mortar stores in your state. They also add in the ridiculously high sprint activation fee that you will still have to pay for separately if you order from Wirefly. Still, you save $50 and some sales tax if you pick it up from Wirefly.
If I were you, I would order from Wirefly now if you're that antsy about it. Refusing the package is perfectly acceptable. Worst case, you miss the shipment, but you bring the un-opened box to UPS, USPS, FEDEX or whichever company shipped it, and they shouldn't have a problem letting you refuse it.

I hate to quote myself, but few people have had luck. So I tried again today.
Rep transferred me to escalations and they cancelled my pre-order hooray.
This after I had called another number yesterday, only to be told i had to wait for delivery. Guess that was a lazy lie on the reps part.
Only difference between yesterday today, that I could possibly think of was. When rep asked for reason for cancellation, I said "found lower price" yesterday. Today I said "I just changed my mind". I doubt this made a difference, but doesn't hurt to say it. Personally, I think it was the different number I called or the rep escalating me to escalations.
I already received the cancellation confirmation email.
Now the only downside is the rep said, it will take worst case 10 days (could be less) for the upgrade to be reset back to your account. I am gonna be trying to get this wirefly deal in the next few days. Hopefully, it doesn't go away.

First link is just their general site price of 150. Second link is Family and Friends for 120.
So updating my previous statement, I checked my upgrade status on wirefly. I was eligible, so much for ten day wait. More like ten minutes.
I just placed my order on wirefly for 120. Lets wait and see what happens.
Couldn't you call the credit card company and cancel the payment. Isnt Pre orders usually charged around the time its shipped?

I assume going through wirefly for an upgrade phone won't affect any current discount on your account? I got my 3D last year through studentrate and have been getting 23% off from that.

First the Note 7 mess, now the Samsung Promotions debacle.

I ordered 3 S8+ phones from Verizon on March 30.
2 phones ship, but with 2 day air (my plan includes next day air) due to VZW rep screw up.
The 3rd phone they send an email telling me that they need more info, but nothing in the email says what they need. I get a call on the 15th and they say they need my credit card number. I told them I entered it, and it even appears on my order receipt they emailed me. Rep said they dont have it so I give it to them. They cancel my order! Then place another one (without mentioning that of course). And yes, the moron changed it to 2 day air.
2 phones get delivered on the 20th and I register right away for the Samsung promotion and choose the $99 offer on both.
3rd phone delivers today, no option to select the $99 dollar offer on that.
VZW wants to call Samsung and see if they can get them to honor the promo I missed out on due to VZW incompetence. Of course I know its not gonna happen. After an hour, the rep says she cant hold any longer for Samsung and tells me to email her when I hear from them. Another hour later, I give up.
I check the status of my orders and one says processing the other says approved. Nothing mentions paying the $99.
I have a feeling that none of them are going to happen.
What a useless promo. They had such a severely limited amount that you not only had to preorder on day one (like a lot of us) but then you also had to hope your carrier didnt screw up (like VZW), and then even though you get to select it, then you still could be out of luck.
Samsung, you blew it again. I thought the Note 7 , and the replacement Note 7 was a mess and pain in the @ss..... now this crap?
apples and oranges.
Just saw this on the Samsung website when checking my promotion status and trying to pay for the $99 bundle.

As a twist, I was able to click buy for the $99 promotion. It wouldn't let me add my credit card to samsung pay(not supported), wouldn't let me click on paypal(gave an error), and wouldn't let me just pay with my credit card (said the info was invalid). Then, my phone battery died. Now, It says the promo isn't valid. It says my submission has been approved and it's processing gift. But, since I never got to pay anything... I have no clue what is happening.
I ordered mine from Samsung website on the 17th of April. Got the $99 Bundle and both phone and bundle arrived yesterday.

I registered for the free VR and got approved for the $99 bundle? Can't get through to promotions on the phone. Tried 3 times and stayed on hold 2 hours each time with no one answering. Emailed, no response. Tried online support, took an hour to get a rep and he told me to call the 1-800 number.

Promotion is still available for me too....wish I had the extra cash!
I submitted my registry and under check status it shows that I chose the immersive package, but I'm still not approved and have no way to pay. On the Samsung website it says they're sold out did to high demand. I will be seriously bummed if I lose out since I pre ordered the first day and registered the first day I got my phone.
I checked the shop app. There was an option to buy the fully immersive bundle at $99. I bought and it. My card was authorized and I got a confirmation email.
The order shows up as confirmed in my Samsung order page as well.
I don't see any way this compares to batteries exploding. It sucks but at least you still have your phone.

I just got off the phone with the rep. I was told as long as you claimed it before it ran out you should be in the clear and just have to wait for the email to pay for it. I claimed mine on the 19th and and have not gotten the option to pay for it yet. The rep pushed my request up to the next left for faster processing, but said I had claimed the 99 bundle while they were available.

I hope that is true that if they approved you then your in the clear. I got my email approval two days ago but each time I try to purchase the bundle I get an error stating it couldn't be added to the cart try again later. Probably because they are sold out. Fingers crossed I can still get it.

I find this frustrating--that they "sold out" of the promotion on the day the phone was released (for those of us picking them up in person anyway).
The headphone/memory card promotion was part of my decision to buy the phone, and it turns out they only have 50,000?! Maybe that was in the fine print somewhere, but it should have been prominently displayed on the promo page--"The first 50,000 customers get this offer."

750,000 preorders so thats what ... 6%?
Samsung then altered that deal by allowing their preorders to get the promo at the time of preorder. Then they let the carriers choose the date the phones were delivered, further screwing up the possibility of anyone being able to get the promo.
If they had restricted the delivery to opening day, or not allowed themselves the perk of letting those who preorder with them the ability to get the promo ahead of others who ordered on the 30th (you could order form Samsung on the 16th and be guaranteed a promo but if you ordered from a carrier on the 30th you were unlikely to get it).
Yes I'm pretty pissed of about it and samsung doesn't care
