[Q] Replacing Original Case With A Dummy Phone's Case - Wildfire General

Hey special people those using the lovely phone called 'Wildfire'
Have someone tried replacing original case with a dummy phone's case? Can you part the dummy? Are the dummy's case and real phones case is in the same size? Is it possible? If it's possible it would be great.
I wanted a white one but the seller only had the gray one so this would be a chance to get my dream-phone
If someone tries this please post it here Thanks.
What's a dummy phone?
A dummy phone is a display-only version of a real phone. They don't work and you can't make them work (some people believes that you can ) They have no chips, cards, electrical system...
You can find one here.

uhm, this could be intresting. have you tried asking the seller?

I haven't because I thought he doesn't have information about this but after saw your post I asked. Now waiting for answer

Just got the answer. He said that we can't. So bad

if you want to put a white back on try htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=202429

It doesn't look like white to me

Question regarding InvisibleShield...

Hello,
I have gone through the thread discussing InvisibleShield, BodyGuardz, etc... but couldn't find answer to my question. I have ordered the InvisibleShield for my AT&T Tilt. Does it really com-off clean i.e. leaves no residue, or doesn't pull-off paint (logo etc) of the Phone when removed ? I am asking because its the first product I'd be using that requires an adhesive (the solution spray) to apply. I am just worried that when I try to remove it, it should come-off clean as it was never there... Can someone who has experience wrt this answer ?
I apologize if this has been discussed before...
Thanks
-Nitin
The solution is soapy. It's like putting on window tint. It comes off perfectly. I had to send a phone back and removed it.
Thanks a bunch !
Thats great... I can use it without worries then.

Xda nova [elf] - display damaged?

hi,
i´ve got a problem with my xda nova. while the device is turned on i see just a white screen with a line of black pixels on my display:
i tried to use the device without the lcd and i think the touchscreen works and also the camera stored pictures on my micro-sd.
after that i did an hard-reset but the display still doesn´t work . now i can just listen to the strange htc sound when it boots and i think it stops there when you have to calibrate the touchscreen - very nice, when you can´t see anything
hope you can help me
sorry for my english, i´m german
If you have any warranty - Take it in to be fixed. Otherwise you are going to have to buy a new screen youself and possibly digitizer as it may also be broken and replace these parts yourself.
This link is a guide you should read on dissasembly of the device, step by step. Good luck

so you think too the lcd is damaged, not the other hardware?
i don´t know if i get warranty, because its not the original rom on it. replacing the display looks pretty easy.

There is no way for me or anyone else to know whether there is any other hardware damaged just by looking at a picture of what looks like a broken LCD. The only way you will know is by changing the LCD to find out. You may find that the Digitizer is broken as well - So you might want to make sure you get one of these as well - I don't think that they are very expensive (from what I have read) You can even look into buying a bricked device off someone for cheap to use as spare parts in case anything else breaks.
Yeah the guide I provided a link for is pretty clear and makes it look pretty easy doesn't it. Thanks to that guide I would not be too afraid to take my device appart to make repairs / replace parts myself if I ever need to.
thank you!
i will order one from china

broken screen replacement

Ok, I have done some searching and I am still not sure of the answer to my question.
I have a HERM 100. I broke the screen on accident, but it was having the WSOD problem anyway. I still love the phone and I am trying to fix it.
First question is I have the screen with the P/N HTC60H00037-01M. I have looked several places on ebay, and the only ones I can find selling this exact screen are almost 2 times as expensive. Most if not all the others are saying this screen will work HTC60H00037-00M
Here are the links
The cheaper one with -00M on the end in one of the pictures.
The more expensive one with the EXACT same number as my screen in the pic.
Will the cheaper one work in my phone or is there a real difference between the two screens.
Oh, and does anyone know the best way to get a chip reflowed? I have been watching and reading the WSOD thread, and the only option that seems to fix the problem permanently. I am not able to do this myself I don't think, but if anyone has a surefire way to do this at home I am willing to listen, I just want my favorite phone back.

Well at least they are both made by Toppoly and that is the crucial thing because different manufacturers use different digitizer circuits:

NB - This link is for reference only it was written for another Hermes owner who had bought a Hitachi part.
So I think you should be ok with the cheaper one - but I wouldn't put a 100% guarantee on that. (My understanding is that it should be ok though).
Obviously buy from a company that has put in writing that it works ok - just in case a return is needed.
Regarding reflowing the chip. You can experiment with an oven (though I wouldn't like to guess the temp or length of time) - and remove the plastic layer from the keys side. To be honest though, I'd look for a part on ebay or a device being parted out here - because if you try the oven method, you'll probably need a new part anyway

Ok, I got the cheaper one, and put the phone together. I am having a small problem. I think it is related to the WSOD issue now. After replacing it I put the phone together and it was working but the screen was very white. There were colors and objects on it but they were very hard to see, you had to look from an angle. After charging it a while and working with it (and thinking I screwed up again) I got the screen to work with some pressure on the right side. I am thinking that is the connection for the screen that you almost bend backwards. I am going to re examine that, and look locally for someone who will reflow my chip. This must be the problem.
At first I was not sure but now I have finally gotten a few minutes of non WSOD use out of it, so indeed the cheaper one WILL work.
Again, thanks mike, you are the man. I am certain I can find a dunked 8525 that will allow me to get my WSOD issue fixed.
-to sum up, the cheaper screen WILL work! good times.

weird graphic issue

hey guys!
i really like you´re forum, it was helping me several times...
now i need you´re help again.
I think you will easily recognize that i have a bad problem with
my hermes - if you look at the attached pics.
The touchscreen is working, the device is booting too and is working nice...
but, uhm, well - i don´t know how to fix the problem shown in the pic.
I´d be really grateful if you can solve my problem.
I don´t know what to do, i just disambled it and cleand everything, i tried an hardreset... the problem´s still there. =(
Regards
We'll see what others think, but looking at picture 3, I'd say your LCD is cracked and the the liquid crystal seeping out a little under te digitizer layer. If I'm correct there is only one practical solution and that is a digitizer LCD combo replacement.
If you replace it be very careful to replace it with the correct one - Hermes had at least three different types and it is essential to get like-for-like.
There is a thread here about the different types.
Mike
One way to check if it's a crack is to place some pressure with your finger along that diagonal line - if you see odd colors moving around in a "liquid" way then it is pretty certainly cracked.
Ouch, i also think that, that is a crack.. Did you drop your device or something.? I think you really need to replace your display..
first of all: thx for the fast responses
i tried what you suggested to check if it´s cracked... unfortunately you´re right
i think a replacement would be too much efford and it also would be too expensive and risky... so i think i gonna buy a new pda... htc of course ;-)
thx to you all

[Q] My Magic lost signal :( please help

I dropped my Magic and then it lost signal. Other functions are work well, only no signal.
I brought it to HTC CC and they said need to replace whole main board with a price I can use to buy an another 2nd-hand one. So I brought my luv back.
I want to buy a brick Magic and try to replace "it" by myself. HTC phones are easy to disassemble and replace parts but I couldnt find any document or video which does describe the function for each board and part.
Bros, if you have any document or video show how to fix this type of problem (or show which board or part I should replace), please help or just give me advice. Thank you.
Bricked phone's have a hosed mainboard. Try finding a phone (there's some on eBay) with a cracked screen that still boots instead. Couldn't tell you how to replace the board. Something around, unplug everything (make sure you know where each cable/wire comes from, take the old board out, put the new board in, plug everything back up. It would be wise to get your fastboot info and to try and find a phone with the same information. Just PM the seller and have them boot into fastboot and tell you what it is.
