broacasting from XDAII

is it possible to broacasting from XDAII
just yesturday i learn that certain MP3 player can broacasting MP3 over FM network, so all you have to do is make sure your radio station and MP3 player is on the same channel. then you can listen to MP3 in your car.
is there any software that can let XDAII do the same thing?

FM is analog signals places typical around 100Mhz
GSM phones are digital signals placed around 900Ghz 1800Ghz and 1900Ghz
so with the GSM part of the xda2 you sure cant transmit FM

Yes it is possible to broadcast from your XDA2, you can do this by plugging in a FM transmitter. Here the one I use

I then tune in my car radio to the same frequency as the FM transmitter and i get MP3s on my car radio. It works well and I am quite happy with it.

I can really recommend it it works well, however if my car radio was able to have a aux input i would have preferred that

There is a very cheap device called a car baby that will do this also, it is a rechargable device that clips to the top of the xda 2 and covers the speaker output, it works well but you must make sure that the pda volume is very low to begin with, just adjust upwards in small increments until you get loud undistorted audio through your radio. Go to ebay and search car baby. Here is a link to the uk ebay selling device. This will also work as a handsfree for the phone if you arent more than 6-10 feet from the mic input on phone.

USB Radio Transmitter

Does anyone know of a Kaiser compatable radio transmitter for the Kaiser so I can use it like an itrip and play my tunes from my kaiser in my car over a radio frequency?

Any old usb/headphone splitter will allow you to do this, as the FM transmitter element simply plugs into the 3.5mm headphone jack - FM transmitters are, notoriously, pants though but if its your only option, I would suggest getting your own splitter and then getting a different FM transmitter that has digital tuning, so you can select any frequency, and not be limited to 4.

You know what I am looking for... I would love to see a Bluetooth FM Transmitter. Then you can just enter your car, and wirelessly play your music through your phone. Anyone know if these even exist? I did a brief google search but it looked like everything was either a car kit for hands free talking or just people wishing they had one kind of like me.

Universal Belkin adapter.
Personally I use the belkin 3.5 inch universal FM transmitter.
the audio quality isnt grand but its very passable.

I've been using that for my PSP and zune for a while now and i'll be using it

I use an iTech-clip connected to a cassete player adapter normally for a walkman. Gives me BT stereo music and when clipped to the sunvisor acts as a hands-free automatically cutting off the music when a call comes in.

It took me a while to track one down! But I finally did and I just purchased on off ebay... It is from a brand called Scosche. It sells new for US$90.
It functions as a Bluetooth Reciever (for bluetooth devices with Audio Push, such as the Keiser...) and as a hands free. It plugs into the car power, and I understand it has a built in battery for portability. I should be receiving it later next week, I'll update on how it works

I was one of the first in the states to get the venturi and have been using it for several weeks now. The quality is great and it is the only device I know of that transmits caller ID to the FM radio via RBDS. It is not the cheapest, but only thing i know that transmits FM, charges phone, and does bluetooth calling/stereo. (not to mention it works flawlessly with the Tilt/kaiser)

I have a Monster Icarplay for the ipod. I am wondering if there's any way of modding it to use on my kaiser. I know the ipod connecter is just a modified usb connector - so I am wondering there is some sort of adapter that goes from ipod connecter to regular usb. I don't think I can just snip off the end and solder in a reg. usb because there are controles on the ipod connecter plug. Any thoughts?

I'm browsing around trying to decide what unit to purchase. The thing I like about the Motorola is I do not have to plug it into my cigarette lighter (other than for a charge, of course).
But, I had purchased a Motorola speaker phone a couple years ago and the sound quality for the person on the other end was pretty bad. With this sound quality for me as the listener would probably be OK, as it would go through the radio.
Has anyone used one of these yet that can report back?
The positive feedback from Venturi on the Verizon one sounds good.

what I want to know is ...
how does it transmit to the FM wirelessly though ???
and if there's another radio nearby happened to be scanning stations ... will it also pick up my private conversation ??
I can understand when this is routed through the cigarette lighter plug ... but wireless ??? and they don't specify the type of FM radio ... so I just assumed any regular car FM stereo ...

Good questions.
It seems to me that it transmits to the FM device via BlueTooth; then the FM device transmits to the radio over FM frequency.
And I assume that if someone in a car nearby (I don't think it will transmit very far) happens to tune the the same FM frequency you are using, that they in fact would pickup your conversations.
I would like to be able to have the bluetooth transmit my stereo to my radio, and if I have on a BT headset, have my conversations go there. But, I'm not sure that is possible.

Radio without headphones?

Is it possible to get the radio to run without having to plug in the headphones?
I know they act as an antenna but I'd still like to be able to demo the device and try for local radio in strong signal areas without having to carry round a set of headphones.

if you use HD tweak you van set the audio booster on, if thats on, you wont get the message that your headset must be plugged in, but i hardly get a reception then

It should work, it seems to be using the same pinout as HD headphone, assuming the Mic still doubles as antenna, like before on ExtUSB

Just tried it with a 3.5 mini-extension cable (about 10cm long with a 3.5 plug on one end and a 3.5 socket on the other).
Works fine ! Reception is perhaps a little weaker.

A 3.5mm plug with some thin black insulated wire connected to it should make a nice unobtrusive antenna.

Thanks for this idea! I cut an old (bad and low-cost) earphone, plugged-in the 3.5-connector (with a cable of about 45 cm), activated audio booster with HD Tweak and - voila!: I'm able to hear FM Radio!
I think it's useful when you want to hear news for a short time; to hear music earphones are better of course!

No - bluetooth does not seem to work here. I tried this with a 3.5 extension. I could get sound out of the speaker no problem but no chance on diverting it to bluetooth.
We probably need some app to make that work.

Could somebody try this apps? To play radio through bluetooth is quite imoprtant feature for me, I use to listen to radio on bicycle on my sporty bt headset. Thank you.

External small FM radio antena

Is there such a thing? I dont use my wired headset since I am on bluetooth (Jabra BT8040) most of the time. Is there a small device that I can plug to USB to enable radio signal?

You can use any extUSB - 3.5mm adapter to make the FM work.

that's incorrect...
you need something plugged into the 3.5mm jack that acts as the antenna; however, i believe doing so will cause the touch pro to try to output sound to it.
so even if you did mod an antenna type thing to have a 3.5mm plug on it, i still doubt there's a way to get audio to the bluetooth headset.
i'd try it with the wired headphones plugged in, and if you can get audio over bluetooth, you can just make an antenna w/a 3.5mm plug.
i'd be very interested to know if/how that works if anyone has any experience.

I actually did this as a test. If you stick the stylus into the 3.5mm jack, you can then use the FM radio through the loud speaker. I however don't recommend this as you could possibly damage the jack, just saying that it will work.

Correct me if I am wrong, but not all 'versions' of the Touch Pro have the FM radio hardware I thought. I have yet to find a list of which ones have it and which don't, if anyone has that info, it would be worth checking

I think the hardware is there on all Touch Pro's but not all ROMs include the software. My Fuze had missing FM software with the stock AT&T ROM... flashed Energy and FM works like a charm.

I dont know about the bluetooth part, but I just took an old pair of headphones and ripped the rubber piece and wires down to just the plug, and it works great.

This works if you want to use the speaker-phone speaker but it does not work with bluetooth as far as I can figure out. Anyone get FM to work over bluetooth???

In the update of the Fuze rom via HTC the FM tuner was included.

Sounds like a 3.5mm stereo plug and maybe 6-12 inches of soft wire soldered to one of the contacts (there are three of them; tip, ring and base) would do it. Wish my TP had a radio.

Looking for a smartwatch that works as music player (via bluetooth)

Hello to everybody,
I'm looking for a smartwatch that could be paired with a couple of bluetooth earphones, acting as music player and that could works without a phone.
I found a lot of cheap device that has a TF (microsd) slot and that could be paired with bluetooth earphones, and this is good.
But I would like to have also Radio FM and I was unable to find a device that could work with bluetooth earphones because all the devices I found with radio FM needs to have earphones jack inserted because they act as antenna.
So I started looking for a device that could run app without a phone, something like "tune in radio", that streams music via data connection, but I'm not sure if someone has already developed something similar, I've seen that Samsung has created the Gear S that has a 3G and wifi connection but I'm not sure of what are its capabilities, if it could work alone (without a phone) for the task I need.
Does anybody knows if there's something that could fit my needs? (or mp3 stand alone with radio FM via bluetooth or mp3 with undependent streaming radio app)

I carry an iPod Nano 6G. Relatively cheap, doesn't have Bluetooth, but it has been my goto for music. I paid $10 for a stainless steel band, it has a week battery life typically, and its just a good device overall. If you're willing to compromise Bluetooth, it can't break the bank.

well, best I can think of is an actual headphone with built-in FM radio, kind of like the Sony MW1 - or if you prefer, there's sport-headphones with all kinds of options (SD card, FM radio, etc.) which don't require any kind of additional device/bluetooth/etc. and are pretty much just headphones with a wire between the two. Example: Sport Wireless+ by Jabra has FM radio.
problem is, that for FM radio you will always require SOME kind of antenna - if I remember correctly it has something to do with the wavelength of FM and needing a certain minimum antenna length to pick up the signal. In cases with no cable (e.g. big headphones (over-ear)), the antenna is built into the frame, while in-ear headphones require some kind of cable/wire (even if it's the one connecting the two headphones) to function as antenna.

I agree with you but I just received a pair of Plantronics beatfit bluetooth earphones, that are superbs in terms of quality, but that lack the embedded radio FM as Jabra ones!
About the antenna, it's strange, because I think that if it's possible to integrate it inside a couple of bluetooth earphones it should be possible to do the same also in an mp3 player or in a smartwatch, don't you think?

Problem is basically that the shorter the antenna (compared to the actual wavelength) the worse the signal (more or less, google "FM antenna length" - or anything similar - for the specifics involved). And considering that FM has MUCH larger wavelength than any other frequency used in a phone (iirc BT is more or less 12cm, FM is 3m), having an antenna small enough to fit in a watch or phone COULD work, but the signal would be really bad - so you'd have to make the receiver REALLY sensitive and probably use quite a bit of power.
Kinda like the difference between turning on a world clock radio with & without extending the antenna - it'll "work" with the antenna collapsed (and maybe even pick up a station or two if you're lucky), but it'll work much better with the antenna extended.
FYI: The larger the wavelength (and thus lower the frequency), the further the signal travels & less interference from objects in between - reason why in the middle of nowhere between trees and mountains you'll pick up an AM (approx. 1kHz, 100+m wavelength) signal much better than an FM signal (approx. 98kHz, 3m wavelength). Same reason as to why the lower mobile bands (700-800) are more suited for large area coverage than teh higher frequency ones (2100, etc.).
NOTE: You'll have to forgive me for any (probable) errors in specific numbers - it's been a LOT of years since I last used/checked them

Ok, apparently a full-length set of headphones (to some extent) isn't even needed nowadays - basically phone makers being lazy. Check this thread over @ androidcentral.com about someone getting the radio (not through BT though) working by sticking a cut-off 3.5mm jack stub (of an old pair of headphones).
No test on how WELL it receives various stations, but at least something is picked up... now all you need to do is modify the ROM so it'll allow BT broadcast even with a 3.5mm jack plugged in :silly:
Or maybe (as suggested in the thread), plugging in a standalone BT transmitter into teh 3.5mm jack?
