I just went to the Sprint store and... - EVO 4G General

I just went to the Sprint store (< 20 min ago) to have them look at my EVO to see if the 4G radio was broken, simply because I rarely get a 4G signal, even in places marked 5 bars on Sprint's website. Anyway, the guy there said that the discrepancy was to be fixed by an update (when I asked what kind of update, he would only say: "from HTC") within the next couple of weeks. Supposedly this update will bring 4G performance in line with Sprint's coverage maps. He also said that Sprint Corporate finished training yesterday on the use of 2.2 on the EVO, which he told me was done being developed and soon to be released. He said that "2.2" will also increase WiMax range. When I asked him to confirm that 2.2 meant Froyo, he said yes.
So it appears that WiMax is about to get a huge range boost and Froyo is about to be released.

So it looks like Sprint is stepping up its support for this phone quite a bit. Great news that were not being abandoned until at least 2.2 has been out for a while.

I would not believe a word any sprint store employee says except maybe derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yeah, unfortunately sprint store employees more often than not, are talking out their arse. I wish we could believe him, but even HTC only said "by Christmas".

froyo for evo in Q4 2010/Q1 2011 if were lucky.

By Christmas only means it will be sometime before Christmas people and even then it was about all of their devices including the Slide

While I don't think we'll get it before Q4, I can see HTC's reasoning behind saying Christmas.
That gives them a big window to release it. If they deliver early, people are stoked. If they fall behind, they have a nice buffer to stay within their promised date.
Better than promising by the end of Q3 and then having a problem crop up and not release until Q4.

People are still listening to in-store employees

I don't know where this Froyo gut is being held, but I think he should be released as soon as possible. If he's being held in N Korea, we should send al Gore to negotiate for his immediate release.
This is inhuman and I hope eveyone will write their congressman.

Don't lump all of us Sprint store employees together like that please. There are plenty of us who know exactly what we are talking about. The people making up stuff just to sound important or impress people are not the norm.
I can tell you that we have received no official training or word on 2.2 or Froyo in the stores. The only official word is what has already been said about Christmas from HTC. I wish there was, I really, really do.
I used an early build from darch on my old hero and liked the speed, can't wait for that on the Evo.

this is correct

Not taking it personal. It just gets old hearing the same old crappy about Sprint. I know the company earned the bad rep, but a lot if the people who still cling onto those perceptions haven't tried Sprint in years.
Oh well, it's so much easier to ruin a rep than rebuild an already bad one.

I'm totally happy with Sprint after stints with ATT and Tmobile. Never tried Verizon.
I will say the Sprint store in Daytona Beach has to be THE worst of the worst. I only go in there to check out a phone on display. That store really does hurt Sprint's reputation in the local market place.

you should tell sprint corporate that and give suggestions on how to make it better.

I hate you Samsung.

So they say the Galaxy S will sell 10,000,000 units be the end of this year. Let's just say they make $100 profit on each unit sold. That's what? $1,000,000,000. Now you're telling me that you can't even provide me with a simple update. I'll tell you what if I could afford to take this phone and shove it some Samsung exec you know where I would. I would love to blame it on Sprint but I can't because no other carrier in the U.S. has it either. This is the first and last Samsung product I buy mobile phone or otherwise. I am done......

Blame it on Sprint..why you ask? Froyo is everywhere in international markets and not in US because ALL the US carriers are slow...yes ALL of them...the international community always:
1) gets new phones before us
2) gets updates before us
Just cause 1 turtle is generally faster then the other turtles does not change the fact that the rabbits already passed the goal ages ago...
In reality if people were to flame sprint enough and not Samsung..Sprint could easily force samsung to update a phone even if samsung didn't want to...why don't they? cause sprint doesn't care enough and ppl blame samsung anyways so what do they care?

Canada, the UK and Australia just started updating in the last two weeks so it is not just in the U.S. that the release was slow. It is not clear who's fault it is but I blame both. If nothing else, blame Sprint for not communicating better and for not getting a better contract with Samsung for updates after the screw up with updates for the Moment and blame Samsung because even when they started to roll out an update in Canada, it started bricking phones and had to be pulled. 7 months after Google released 2.2, Samsung should be able to put out nearly perfect updates.

While the bricking is Samsung's fault it is not uncommon...HTC had quite a few bricks on the EVO and they pulled the upgrade...when they tested it theirs did not brick so they assumed it was fine and deployed it...once issues arose they pulled it..came back a week later with everything fixed...
Either way..can you explain how UK, Canada and Australia were able to do it by end of year and sprint couldn't?

It's ****ing Samsung! They will never have a near perfect release... they have short school bus employees. I ****ing will never buy anything Samsung again... also hope their kids die in a ****ing road accident and then the remains get eaten by coyotes, so they can't even have an open casket funeral.
But then again, that's just me.
I was looking at the shift also, then I saw the speculated off contract price. 50 bucks more than the epic but it's hardware isn't as "good" as the epic. One of the sites I was reading said their opinion was sprint waited on this phone too long and it's specs are mediocre. Pay 550 for a midrange phone? I bet 4g is the only reason the price is jacked up on this one. My opinion, that phone isn't worth how much they might sell it for. Way overpriced!
All my luck, I'd buy another evo and a month later sprint would have another top end phone to replace the evo. Oh yeah, if they have 2.1 on the shift, then that's another excuse for it to be a waste of my time. Notice how some of the names for these phones are just so easy to make fun of? Epic fail, htc shift (minus the f).

Yeah but big difference. Htc released the update just over 2 months after froyo was released. Samsung released the Canadian update 7 months after froyo and they still couldn't get it right.
Samsung also said that they released froyo to the UK carriers in Oct. And expected it to be released to consumers in early November. It didn't get released until mid December. Sounds to me like maybe their was a big flaw and it had to go back to samsung.
There is no way to know for sure who is at fault but I am going to blame both. I think the manufactures and carriers work together on these updates and they both have to share responsibility for the success or failure of their efforts.

But see the reason why the EVO was updated so fast was due to pressure from Sprint to be the first one...so while they both hold responsibility..putting pressure on sprint is 10x more effective then putting pressure on samsung...
see notice most people who give up respond by saying:
"thats it im not buying another samsung device ever again"
but no one is saying
"thats it im not buying another sprint device again"
Now true that other carriers didn't release upgrades either for their Galaxy S phones...but at same time..Sprint doesn't care if you buy an HTC, EVO or Samsung as long as your paying their monthly bill...
I just think the carriers need to be put under more pressure...lets take the moment for example...they said it doesn't have hardware for froyo..which is a lie because its 95% same hardware as Intercept and Transform...people complained to samsung to no evail..if people complained and blamed sprint...you'd see Froyo out the door in no time for the Moment...
In US carriers are king, and they are the ones that need to be pressured to get things done..

Do you know why? Because us Americans are a bunch of whiny *****es who go into cardiac arrest when we find out that we have to pay more than $19.99 for a cell phone, need our hands constantly held and for whatever reason, expect that phone companies owe us the world. Ooh, also because for whatever reason phone companies refuse to implement bunch of features that GSM and CDMA networks support. Why can't I have two lines on a single SIM card like I had in Europe? I'm taking to you AT&T and T-Mobile. Why are we just now getting features that Japanese and Korean networks had years ago? Simply, there is no market for advanced phones here.

Frankly I don't care who's fault it is. Both Companies profit off of users buying/owning an Epic, therefore both should bust ass and get the update out. If I received this type of service at a restraunt... forget about it.
I talked to the Denver District Sprint Store Manager today nd he said he talked to his boss and got the reason the epic wasn't getting an update yet... Sprint ID. There are apparently integration issues, then it was removed, added, removed, yada yada. Apparently Froyo for Epic was ready to be released ota on the 26th but when push came to shove the sprint ID was having issues, so the update was pulled.
Not sure how true this is... but so help me if Sprint ID is the holdup... I don't want that **** on my phone anyway..

What the heck is Sprint THINKTIG?

I left at&t grandfathered in with their unlimited data because I wanted android, the the evo was the bomb, so it was a good fit. Now that I can upgrade, what will I upgrade to?
I don't think everyone has to worry about their contract. Sprint just put the final nail in their coffin.
How can you make a new phone that will run slower (yes it has a faster processor), but more work to do. No gingerbread, no front camera, no 4g and to top it off a crappy manufacturer. Microsoft has to love this.
I see HTC starting their own MetroPCS service and growing from there. Or even a Google HTC partnership.

im still happy with the evo as long as the devs keep supporting it and bringing out new features to keep me from getting bored with it.
im sure sprint will announce a new htc phone sometime this year, i hope.
Why would you leave a carrier because of a phone they announced? Sure, it's a silly phone that I have zero interest in but it didn't ruin my day or come to my house and kick my dog. People get so worked up over nothing these days.
I bet most you aren't even eligible for an upgrade anyway.
Sph33r,
Don't rain on our negative parade.
I've been up for an upgrade for some time, waiting for HTC to perfect the EVO and stay competitive.
Trust me, Sprint very well knew the EVO was their bread and butter. Why else do they still run commercials? Heck we all paid a bogus $10 fee knowing 4g was not coming any time soon. To add insult to injury, they now charge everyone this BS fee, instead of manning up and just adjusting the price of the plan. Do they think we are all that dense?
This announcement was just a kick in the ass, showing they are truly clueless. Worst off, if you are going it alone in the Wimax arena, what confidence do you have on the company you own by leaving it out of the phone. I think we all pretty much know they will be forced down the LTE path now that Verizon dumped Wimax. If they had any balls, they would have put an LTE radio in, to show they had any brains.
There comes a time when good price for a service gets trumped by bad management, lies, and sub-par offerings. HTC has been the Savior for sprint this last year, and they too were left out on the cold. Even if HTC makes a new phone on their own, Sprint's marketing dollars have just been pissed away.

Yeah this Kyocera phone blows. Don't get it. Hold out for the EVO 2 that will likely come out this summer.
I hate when people don't know what they are talking about. Sprint mentioned that they have no problem switching to LTE if it's the standard for the world, before they greenlit WiMax. Numerous times they made notions that will go towards LTE, (LTE World Conference, Clearwire changing their contract with Intel, Clearwire testing LTE with Sprint evaluating it, Network Vision, which will make sure the LTE switch is easy, Beceem creating an WiMax/LTE chip, Sprint stating they have the power to use both) How the hell did Verizon dumping WiMax forced Sprint to go towards LTE, if they were never going to that technology in the first place? Btw, you see that EVO 2 that people are convinced coming out this summer? It may drop in the 4Q. It's not the HTC Sabor either, so I think people need to ignore those specs. Just a little fyi.

I'm curious: if you left AT&T for Sprint to get the Evo, that would have been in like June? At the earliest? So.... how are you already up for an upgrade? Please share, I want upgrades every 8 months too!
AT&T drops the Atrix 4G in March, only to release news of the Attix 4G 2 in November. Verizon drops the Thunderbolt this month, only to drop the Thunderbolt 2 in October. It's stupid that people think the EVO 2 would be released in less than a year, but I don't blame you guys for reaching out in desperation. The other carriers give me numerous toys to play with, and not Sprint. It's not because of this worldwide claim that they are poor, it's because they think their strategy of not releasing a library of smartphones in one year works. You would be surprised on how many devices for different manufacters that Sprint has in the lab. If they continue this strategy, a buyout will eventually take place or they will become 4th.

So, I literally just joined this forum to reply to this thread.
This is by far the most ignorant thread I have seen on these forums in awhile.
The Evo Shift was NOT designed to replace the Evo. It was made for those people who wanted:
Slide-Out Keyboards
Smaller Phone Size
A good smartphone for less money
Not every phone that Sprint releases is meant to be the biggest and baddest "next" thing. Most people on XDA are in the demographic that looks for that, but despite being lost in your little world, there are some people out there that actually don't want such a huge bulky phone, and they miss the days when you could actually FEEL the keys on your fingertips.
The Evo Shift was created for those people, for the demographic who is NOT you.
And before the flames start, I own a standard Evo 4G, and would never switch to the Shift, but my girlfriend hates my phone, and would love nothing more than to be able to switch away from her Incredible, to the Shift.
Perhaps there will be a war of screens kind of like the war on number of razor blades on disposable razors. We might see a 5 screen phone in a couple of years.

Don't Get the Hype Or Complaints About The Kyocera

So, Based on what I'm noticing, people were expecting a dual core evo 2 for sprints big announcement and instead of was a dual screen kyocera. So whats all this crap about jumping ship to verizon?
You must have not read. Ask yourself this:
Who is Kyocera?
What are they known for?
Why Kyocera?
Why is the phone ugly?
Why are they releasing an already outdated phone when dual cores and other sick hardware is coming out?

Also ask yourself what this has to do with Evo....
So you are saying you would consider getting one? Lol

Maybe if the echo was the only phone to be released in 2011, id be looking at other carriers.
I think the fact that Sprint called this an "industry first" and generated a huge event/hype has caused many to lose faith in Sprint's choices.
Is it worth leaving over..of course not, but many of us feel embarrassed for a company we have been avidly supporting.
If they had just released this device without claiming it is the "latest and greatest" it would have been different.

All you FANBOIFAGS that are crying about sprint's big announcement NOT being the EVO2 are just crying to make yourselves look important and special.
EVERY company has facepalms, and crying about it and saying your leaving said company because of 1 announcement is just proof that you didn't even want to be with the company to begin with and are using the announcement as a scapegoat
I don't know about everyone else, but i don't come to this site to listen to kids cry about how their mommy has cut them off from her nipple and now they have to grow up and not have everything their way.

If I'm not mistaken, we have the right to have an opinion and a choice to choose what carrier we want to be with. If another company has better service/phones/etc. I think most of us would want to have the best. Big fail for Sprint.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying it was a big let down for many of us. I am not going to be switching just because of that or for any reason. Just saying everyone has a right to their opinion and its nuts when people start bashing. And just because people are leaving for Verizon doesn't mean they are going for the iPhone.
The evo is the best phone on the market right now and Sprint did the best thing they could do when they dropped the everything plan. Now all these other carriers want to bite off there plate. That is my opinion Sprint want come out with a evo2 until around summer they know what they are doing.

The Echo hasn't made me want to switch.. yet; but it's preparing me to.
The EVO is a well featured phone but the CPU/GPU is severely lacking. As a tech head there's no way I can make it through another year with this phone. Right now I can see 1-2 high end WP7 phones and probably another WebOS phone being released in the Spring/Summer. With the amount of hype that Sprint put into this phone I wouldn't be surprised that Sprint thought this was their next EVO. Part of me doesn't want to believe that a major company could be this out of touch, but claiming an industry first and bringing out David Blane leaves me with no other explanation: Sprint is retarded.
So you have at least the Touch Pro 7 (which admittedly looks awesome but it's too early for me to adopt WP7), the Echo (Hell no), and maybe a new WebOS phone (hmm.. maybe, but I depend on Google Apps too heavily) coming out. How many very high end smartphones ($199+) does Sprint come out with a year? Seems to me like Sprint could be more than meeting their usual first half quota with those phones.
I'll wait until June and if nothing interesting comes out, the lack of great Android phones, absolutely horrendous 3G speeds, and decreasing of benefits will probably push me to Verizon. I'd just roam the F out of my phone while downloading Ubuntu over and over again. I carry a iPhone (personal) and Android (business) phones anyway, might as well family up at Verizon.
Bottom line is, I'll follow the development community's lead. That will be my next phone.

or could it be many people are getting frustrated with sprint, ok now every phone is going to have 10 dollar add on, yearly upgrades are now gone for alot of people(its the only reason why me and my girl have a joint plan with sprint) the 4g we have well its not that great coverage wise, also to point their handling of what the 10 dollar add on at first was needed for is a face palm.
Then to not show nothing off at CES but have their name as a sponsor everywhere their only to hold an event as industry first, to show off entry level smart phone.
Im not leaving sprint for this I am however this summer when my contract is up this spring
Not really understanding the name calling. If you appreciate having your telco telling you to grab your ankles then by all means.

Just FYI, if you haven't heard or been living under a rock.....Just go look at what the other carriers are making you do that is far worse than grabbing your ankles. They are just trying to mask it by throwing a few nice phones out there, but that in no way covers up the fact they are continiously raising prices, getting rid of upgrades altogether and now even charging for things that are free on sprint. So its not like sprint is actually doing anything that isn't already being done.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed at the announcement. But, to be honest, Sprint did state whatever they were going to announce would be an "industry first" - and it was. Would I have booked David Blaine to do it? Hell no.
The HYPE, though, was actually generated by all the media coverage speculating as to what the announcement would be and ALL OF US here and on other forums starting ENDLESS threads about Sprint's announcement, hoping that Sprint would have a killer nuke to kill all the hoopla from the Verizon IPhone and Verizon 4G launch. And this obviously wasn't it.
We do still have CTIA coming up and Sprint has said that they plan to release more 4G devices this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they have something more.
As for the Echo, I'm going to reserve my comments as to what it is or isn't until I get my hands on one.
I do hope that Sprint pulls through and makes some better choices.

I think if the Echo had a dual core, top line graphics chip, plenty of ram, and mention of getting 2.4 on it peeps would be very positive about the announcement. For me it was not the design or manufacturer, but the hardware specs that make it weak. I for sure can think of ways that having 2 screens would be beneficial.
I'm not leaving Sprint over it but I was pretty disappointed by the announcement. There is no tech geek alive that is looking forward to that abomination of a phone. I don't know WHO sprint is marketing this phone for. Business people won't want it, tech geeks won't want it, teens won't want it, and I think the only people who WOULD get it are the people dumb enough to get suckered into it by a Sprint CSR or store rep.
I am a Sprint customer for the awesome value, not because they don't live up to my expectations for a phone on a specific announcement date. People who are considering jumping ship because of this debacle really need to reevaluate their priorities in life.

new timeline for HSUPA update

I just got off the phone with a rep from ATT who followed up with a complaint I filed with the BBB.
This guy was a lot nicer then past CSR's that I've talked to in the past. He informed me that ATT is aware of all the problems that people have had with the Atrix and the Inspire, and that an update coming up Late April and EARLY MAY will directly address our upload speeds.
So looks like we'll probably get our update at the end of MAY. I should have known that ATT couldn't commit to a whole MONTH to get an update out. Ridiculous. Oh well, the longer I wait, the easier it will be for me to get out of this ETF if I decide to switch.
I don't want to believe it but I think its true.

You say end of April and early May, then say end of May........................which is it? Early May could be May 1st!
We also have applications out already for testing the next update with Motorola, and that will more than likely start this weekend, with the update going live next week sometime if the last update test was anything to go by. That update is rumoured to address upload speeds by turning on HSUPA.
Personally, I wouldn't trust anything coming from a rep. They are there to make you feel good, especially when it relates to a complaint.

Sorry guys, I should have clarified... The rep said beginning of May, but when I said end of May, I was inferring that ATT wasn't going to get us this update by the new timeline of early May, and that we would actually get it at the end of May because ATT would *probably* keep pushing back the update.
It's AT&T... the masters of stringing their customers along while they drag their feet.
I don't expect anything from them in April.
The SOAK tests haven't even been released yet, so there is no time for that testing to be completed and still make an end of April release date.
Considering the likely launch of the beta test of the upgrade, if there are no deal breaking new bugs introduced, they can release the update for everyone before end of April. But when implementing new stuff you never know if you introduced new bugs until you start testing it, so I guess that's why AT&T gave you a two week window for release.
This is of course assuming the update beta testers will get is related to the HSUPA.
I was just at our local corporate store on an unrelated issue. When I mentioned the HSUPA cap and my X10 has 4+ times the upload speed of the Atrix, he was completely thrown and didn't look like he even believed me. I didn't bother asking about the upgrade after that.

A- he probably uses an Iphone
B- he is a salesperson
C- 90% of AT&T salespeople are cashiers, not salesman. Meaning, if someone wants an iphone its "cash or charge?." they wont bother trying to get to know Android

Well said. Sadly enough he carries the Inspire and I would think he would be aware of the data cap.
they can still make it by end of april..when they BETA tested 1.5.7 they still had less than a week release to general public..and this time it isnt a beta it's a pre-release so it would be a shorter turn-around
I have found the average ATT rep, whether store, corporate, or janitor, to be quite uninformed when it comes to "release dates" or "technical knowledge"...regardless of what phone they carry.
I wish people would stop believing **** until it actually happens. When the updates comes out, it comes out. I wish people would stop guessing and speculating on when it's going to be released. ATT sales reps generally don't know when the updates are coming out, the one guy I talked to didn't even know what rooting meant.

I think they just need something to whine and cry about once we got speed they'll fall back on bootloader issue..Im not a att or motorola fanboy but I know crying in a unconnected forum wont change anything we ALL elected to stick with the phone despite having the chance to return it..and if you filed a BBB complaint they would have taken phone back after the 30days...so basically we all signed off on the treatment and agreed to endure by keeping the device
Amazing how someone will actually believe what a CSR on the phone says. They stick to the script, or make things up as they go based on the same rumors we all hear.

Haha, quoted for truth! I was messing with a rep the one day at a local AT&T store asking him when Android 2.2* would be available for the Atrix, and he said later this year, most definitely, then I asked him when 4G will activated and he said 4G is already enabled, which obviously he is wrong on both counts.
I left the store after telling him that the Atrix already ships with 2.2 and he should read up on the products they sell. I don't know how the guy was able to keep his job.. I can take a **** that knows more about phones than that guy. Haha.
**For the hard headed... I KNOW WE HAVE ANDROID 2.2, I WAS OBVIOUSLY ****ING WITH THE SALES REP!

So I think you're directing this towards me, let me just explain my stance here..
Yeah I decided to keep the phone after my 30 day policy expired, my choice to do so or not.
My BBB complaint wasn't about "when I'm getting HSUPA" it was more on the constant lies, shadiness, and deceptive marketing practices that ATT employees were running by me. Most of them were uninformed, and a lot of them were very rude. The CSR that called me today was the nicest person I talked too on the phone. Other CSR's would say I'm lying, or I'm wrong when I accused of ATT crippling their phone (when in all actually ATT did, and admitted to it, not in those words). And almost every CSR rep would say I had the "wrong data plan" and that I would have to discontinue my unlimited data plan for a 4G tiered data plan to access higher download and upload speeds. Some even said I needed a new "sim" when I did have the new 4G sim already.
So the way I saw it, ATT was trying to pull more money out of me and crippling my data by making false claims.
And that was my BBB complaint in a nutshell. Sorry, when I deal with a business I'm paying $100 a month for, I'd expect their employees to be educated in their companies products and offerings. And if they don't know, then I'd expect them to find someone that does know, instead of pushing me towards other, more expensive services.
okay end /rant.
Can't wait till this bootloader is unlocked!

no. I meant Late April OR early may. Didn't mean to be confusing

Here's something, ermm, interesting.

Saw this as a comment on an androidcentral post about the within:
Listen up and listen good cuz I don't lie or play when it comes to this stuff... Sprint Is kicking but this year and will continue that but kicking like none of you can imagine. I am a sprint employee work at the West Hollywood Store in CA. It's the flagship store for the west coast Dan Hesse frequents our store device's come through our store sometimes up to 5 months before a rumor about it hits the internet. This is a HUGE year for sprint if you understand business in the least bit you know corporate change takes time. If you can't see the changes sprint has made and continue to make for the better than your just blind or don know what to look for. I know some of you may call me bias and your right I am. But only to one thing and that's customer experience. I love that SPRINT by maintaining is price plans is forcing AT& T and T-Mob todo stuff like the 70 dollar unlimited data even if it is capped. Yes thee above pic is the GS2 i've held it. YES it will be 4G yes we are getting a keyboard version as well as the standard GS2. Yes that phone will also be 4G and dual core not single core. The its not for certain it will be the epic2 or called epic at all. Yes the GS2 is a vicious competitor for the Evo 3D from personal experience I still think the Evo 3D is better. I prefer sense over touch anything I trust htc more than samsungs when it comes to mobile anything and the internal update system htc uses not having to wait for sprint like the last two patches they did for the 3d speaks volumes. Add htcsense.com to that and better build quality and you begin to edge out the competition. Admittedly not by much with the GS2 but still its an edge. As far as the YouTube comparisons of the GS2 to the Sensation to gauge it again the 3D, don't make me laugh the 3D itself makes the sensation look the same way. In no way am I denying the amazingness that is the GS2 I just PREFER htc that's all. Last but not least the GS2 is really really fast it was a tad and I do mean a TAD faster than my 3D but..... My Evo is jam packed 6 email accounts syncing about 80 apps 7 custom scenes setup the whole 9 and the GS2 was but naked not even signed into a gmail account. I say that today this when you watch these comparison vids take into account what may or may not be on the devices in question in terms of data info etc... Once you get these devices in hand your speed milage Will vary depending on how much you throw at your device. It's a good time to be with sprint I'm not even going to get into the improvements happening to the network ill save that for another post. And oh yeah in case you were skeptical on the matter we are absolutely getting the iphone so tell all your apple juice drinking buddies that VZ and AT&T's are numbered it'll be here before you know it. The real question is will it be 4G and honestly even I don't have that answer................ Yet. PS if your in the LA area and you want to switch to sprint I can give you 125 dollar port in credit... Yes we pay YOU 125.00 bucks to KEEP your number give me a shout PM me. Duece

I trust nothing of what that guy wrote. Everytime someone claims to have advanced knowledge they are wrong completely. Why the eff would sprint bring rumored phones around a retail store before they are even announced? That just makes no sense. I have dealt with enough sprint employees who "have the scoop" and turn out to be collosal nitwits before to believe that some random sprint store employee got the scoop on sprint getting the iphone.
I do think he is a sprint employee though because every sprint employee I have ever dealt with is a huge fanboy of the evo.

Everyone is getting phones, they are rolling out new tower hardware making speeds, signal quality and increase the number of clients able to hit the servers. He told me it would be a 2 year rollout, but we had 36 tower updates last month. He said there are about 40 new devices rolling out and they would rock!

At a training event for sales reps the sprint trainer brought up an iphone 5 variant for sprint a few times. Interesting to hear it from this guy as well. Although if I had to guess, they are both misreading it, and all we are likely to see is the new prepaid iphone version coming out for virgin.

I hate when people say the EVO 3d is a better phone than SG2 even though across the board SG2 eats 3d. Granted htc sense 3.0 is sexy, but MIUI is better
Sprint's overall phone lineup is strong with or without the iPhone. It has been for a while. The issues are that they have to quickly maintain and improve their network and hold prices and plans to the attractive level they are now. I don't believe in corporate hype, I believe in underpromising and overdelivering. Sprint did that in the years I've been with them.
Now they have to continue so they can grow and poach away customers who get sick of being robbed by Verizon and AT&T. But without the network that's going to be even harder to do. Take my neighborhood for example--coverage here is poor, Sprint probably has no customers other than people like me who figured out how to force roam, or those who have Airaves. And it's doubtful any new towers are planned, so they better get busy on these network improvement miracles, because reasonably priced unlimited 4G makes no difference to those who can't get it.
