Don't Get the Hype Or Complaints About The Kyocera - EVO 4G General

So, Based on what I'm noticing, people were expecting a dual core evo 2 for sprints big announcement and instead of was a dual screen kyocera. So whats all this crap about jumping ship to verizon?

You must have not read. Ask yourself this:
Who is Kyocera?
What are they known for?
Why Kyocera?
Why is the phone ugly?
Why are they releasing an already outdated phone when dual cores and other sick hardware is coming out?

Also ask yourself what this has to do with Evo....

So you are saying you would consider getting one? Lol

I think he's saying he wouldn't leave sprint over it and anyone who would is probably a little slow.

Maybe if the echo was the only phone to be released in 2011, id be looking at other carriers.

I think the fact that Sprint called this an "industry first" and generated a huge event/hype has caused many to lose faith in Sprint's choices.
Is it worth leaving over..of course not, but many of us feel embarrassed for a company we have been avidly supporting.
If they had just released this device without claiming it is the "latest and greatest" it would have been different.

All you FANBOIFAGS that are crying about sprint's big announcement NOT being the EVO2 are just crying to make yourselves look important and special.
EVERY company has facepalms, and crying about it and saying your leaving said company because of 1 announcement is just proof that you didn't even want to be with the company to begin with and are using the announcement as a scapegoat
I don't know about everyone else, but i don't come to this site to listen to kids cry about how their mommy has cut them off from her nipple and now they have to grow up and not have everything their way.

If I'm not mistaken, we have the right to have an opinion and a choice to choose what carrier we want to be with. If another company has better service/phones/etc. I think most of us would want to have the best. Big fail for Sprint.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying it was a big let down for many of us. I am not going to be switching just because of that or for any reason. Just saying everyone has a right to their opinion and its nuts when people start bashing. And just because people are leaving for Verizon doesn't mean they are going for the iPhone.

The evo is the best phone on the market right now and Sprint did the best thing they could do when they dropped the everything plan. Now all these other carriers want to bite off there plate. That is my opinion Sprint want come out with a evo2 until around summer they know what they are doing.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

The Echo hasn't made me want to switch.. yet; but it's preparing me to.
The EVO is a well featured phone but the CPU/GPU is severely lacking. As a tech head there's no way I can make it through another year with this phone. Right now I can see 1-2 high end WP7 phones and probably another WebOS phone being released in the Spring/Summer. With the amount of hype that Sprint put into this phone I wouldn't be surprised that Sprint thought this was their next EVO. Part of me doesn't want to believe that a major company could be this out of touch, but claiming an industry first and bringing out David Blane leaves me with no other explanation: Sprint is retarded.
So you have at least the Touch Pro 7 (which admittedly looks awesome but it's too early for me to adopt WP7), the Echo (Hell no), and maybe a new WebOS phone (hmm.. maybe, but I depend on Google Apps too heavily) coming out. How many very high end smartphones ($199+) does Sprint come out with a year? Seems to me like Sprint could be more than meeting their usual first half quota with those phones.
I'll wait until June and if nothing interesting comes out, the lack of great Android phones, absolutely horrendous 3G speeds, and decreasing of benefits will probably push me to Verizon. I'd just roam the F out of my phone while downloading Ubuntu over and over again. I carry a iPhone (personal) and Android (business) phones anyway, might as well family up at Verizon.

Bottom line is, I'll follow the development community's lead. That will be my next phone.

or could it be many people are getting frustrated with sprint, ok now every phone is going to have 10 dollar add on, yearly upgrades are now gone for alot of people(its the only reason why me and my girl have a joint plan with sprint) the 4g we have well its not that great coverage wise, also to point their handling of what the 10 dollar add on at first was needed for is a face palm.
Then to not show nothing off at CES but have their name as a sponsor everywhere their only to hold an event as industry first, to show off entry level smart phone.
Im not leaving sprint for this I am however this summer when my contract is up this spring
Not really understanding the name calling. If you appreciate having your telco telling you to grab your ankles then by all means.

Just FYI, if you haven't heard or been living under a rock.....Just go look at what the other carriers are making you do that is far worse than grabbing your ankles. They are just trying to mask it by throwing a few nice phones out there, but that in no way covers up the fact they are continiously raising prices, getting rid of upgrades altogether and now even charging for things that are free on sprint. So its not like sprint is actually doing anything that isn't already being done.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed at the announcement. But, to be honest, Sprint did state whatever they were going to announce would be an "industry first" - and it was. Would I have booked David Blaine to do it? Hell no.
The HYPE, though, was actually generated by all the media coverage speculating as to what the announcement would be and ALL OF US here and on other forums starting ENDLESS threads about Sprint's announcement, hoping that Sprint would have a killer nuke to kill all the hoopla from the Verizon IPhone and Verizon 4G launch. And this obviously wasn't it.
We do still have CTIA coming up and Sprint has said that they plan to release more 4G devices this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they have something more.
As for the Echo, I'm going to reserve my comments as to what it is or isn't until I get my hands on one.
I do hope that Sprint pulls through and makes some better choices.

I think if the Echo had a dual core, top line graphics chip, plenty of ram, and mention of getting 2.4 on it peeps would be very positive about the announcement. For me it was not the design or manufacturer, but the hardware specs that make it weak. I for sure can think of ways that having 2 screens would be beneficial.

I'm not leaving Sprint over it but I was pretty disappointed by the announcement. There is no tech geek alive that is looking forward to that abomination of a phone. I don't know WHO sprint is marketing this phone for. Business people won't want it, tech geeks won't want it, teens won't want it, and I think the only people who WOULD get it are the people dumb enough to get suckered into it by a Sprint CSR or store rep.
I am a Sprint customer for the awesome value, not because they don't live up to my expectations for a phone on a specific announcement date. People who are considering jumping ship because of this debacle really need to reevaluate their priorities in life.

Even if Sprint does NOT get it why doesn't Tmo say "hey we'll take it!!"
When it comes to agreements between 2 or more business goliaths, I don't think its as simple as we'll take it. Lots of legal matters to get sorted out. Just look at all the drama it took to get the iPhone on AT&T to start with. They battled over details for awhile and still had issues after the release. Don't even wanna go into foreget tablets. Can we at least get a good list of smartphones on T-Mobile? One great phone and one very respectable phone (see Vibrant then MyTouch Slide) does not make for good choices when time to upgrade.
I was extremely excited about this Galaxy Tab, but in reality, the price is kind of a dealbreaker, and as far as I can tell, there is no wi-fi only version. I am not paying for another device on the network.
But as far as why T-mobile doesn't step up: it is just like mmalott says. Contracts have so many intricacies, so many things that have to get ironed out.
But for what it's worth, you don't know that they won't make it available for T-mobile yet. Maybe Samsung will go to all 4 carriers with it, you never know. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm happy that T-Mo is not trying to get all these first-gen experimental devices but focusing on the few solid and core devices along with providing great services.
This is what a normal consumer really needs.

that. plus there's the fcc approvals needed for each band/network it supports.
I've seen websites saying Verizon is getting it to, it's not unlikely that they are just releasing on all the carriers like they have with the Galaxy S series. They aren't even out of here yet are they? Didn't this happen before with the Galaxy S series, one company said we are getting it then the others followed?

My man/girl where on earth did you get the notion that I was Sprint fan? I have been with Tmo for 7+ years and would not even think about switching services!!! My original point being is why doesn't Tmo "make a play" for things such as the Tablet or even a good , better, best smartphone, even if we do not get them?
Granted given the response by "mmalot" looking at it that way I completely see why Tmo has taken the path it has.
I am happy with Tmo no doubt but I just wish their aggressiveness would equate to a better selection of phone choices, granted the Vibrant which I love is no slouch even with it shortcomings is still a great phone in its own rights.
Regarding a phone such as the G2 which has not come out yet I am sure it will be a worthy opponent I am NOT bashing Tmo I am suggesting that they become slightly more aggressive.
Make sure you have a valid point or even comprehend the statement that is in front of you before you go "bumping your gums" and comment such as you have done.
And in closing I do not have a problem with Tmo as I stated have been a loyal customer for 7+ years (when they were voicestream wireless)and will remain a customer but I like everyone else am entitled to their opinion and I will exercise it at will "heygrl", so please do not try and come at me like I am coming from left field, it was a "freedom of speech" moment.
I do know that a lot of the times the carriers have to bid on the phones/devices that they get. Depending on the manufacturer/device. Would you rather have a g2, mytouch hd, and possibly 2-3 other big devices by the end of the year, or would you rather have a galaxy S that is a little bit larger, without the Super amoled? Do remember that T-Mobile is dropping a ton of funds on rocking out the HSPA+ across the country super fast, and they're the 4th largest carrier. They have to choose a lot more carefully about where to invest then the others.
If someone has a vibrant now, the g2 wil be irrelevant by the time they have to upgrade again. Should not be releasing phones so fast, imo.
Also I may etf my contact and move off android because the fragmentation and slow updates/buggy devices are unbearable.
Almost regret not staying on at&t and getting am iphone. This is ridiculous.

If you like locked down fancy looking feature phones and a barely working network then ATT is for you, and they'll gladly take your money, enjoy you iPhone 4, we don't care, it's your money
At the end of the day the real reason we're all with tmobile (don't lie) is because of their great plans/ pricing and awesome customer service. If that wasn't the case we'd be all on verizon. I think their approach with the vibrant/g2/faster network this year will play out very well for them.
I hate when people get offended if you tell your opinion about a company. Heygrl the way you reacted on the last page was childish. Grow up, I dont understand why people pledge loyalty to a company then act like blinded fanboys if you tell the truth about them.
T-Mobile obviously needs to step up. Whether they get this tablet or not isn't a dealbreaker for me. Especially if there is no wifi only version. However they need more phones, more high end state of the art phones. Verizon and Sprint are rumored to release 1.5 Ghz phones this year, they are not slouching. The G2's hardware will be completely obsolete by 2011, it will be a new generation of hardware. People seem to think this phone is the best ever because of HSPA+. What happens when you never reach those plateaus of speed and the first dual-core devices drop this year? Gonna feel buyers remorse huh.
It's also rumored that Samsung is working on the Galaxy S2 phone with a 2Ghz processor, 4gb of rom, 1gb ram, super amoled2 and 340ppi. Now THAT'S a revolution, but you ignorant fanboys would never see that because your devoted loyalty to a company makes you think the G2 will be the best phone ever. Such a joke...
HTC has a conference in a week or so, you think their best announcement will be the G2? Come on now. They are working on 1.5-2ghz phones, new battery and screen tech, and dual core devices.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Even though I don't always agree with Tmobile's business sense I do like their more conservative nature. I don't need 3-5 phones with 2ghz cpus and the latest greatest iPhone at the cost dealing with the stereotypical corporate giant. All I ask for is at least 1 -2 comparable smartphones (MyTouch Slide & Vibrant delivered beautifully), good customer service, and keep your hands out of my pockets. I think T-Mobile has done an outstanding job at doing this. Dealing with Tmo has been a personal experience as compared to dealing with AT&T which was the usual your-the-little-guy thing.
Tmo has left me in wonder plenty of times. Where I live just got 3g but they were trying to sell me a 3G phone prior to that? Why are you guys selling the MyTouch Slide for only $20 less then the Vibrant? Am I missing something there? You guys are rolling out 4G!? But... there's plenty of places that don't even have coverage, EDGE, or 3G yet? Just some of the things that make me scratch my head sometimes but in the end, AT&T and Verizon don't leave me with the satisfaction that T-Mobile does.
Personally I don't want or need 20 smartphones to choose from. Too many problems for the network, the consumer, and the manufactures which will leave more often then not unhappy under the quantity over quality method of thinking.
At the end of the day its your choice based on your experiences and opinion. And this is a forum where people voice experiences and opinion. Just wish people could be more civilized about it so that others can hear/read them without the annoying gibberish.
I guess the real reason that people are so upset with T-mobile is because T-mobile was the first with an android phone and the first with the Google Nexus One phone, and they have lost that crown.
After Sprint got the HTC Hero, T-mobile wasn't the only android carrier anymore, and when Verizon got the Droid, they decided to buy up 95% of the high-end android smart-phones for the next 1.5 years.
AT&T rode iPhone popularity to the top. T-mobile failed to do this with Android. Looking at Android growth & popularity, locking up a few high end exclusives over the next 2-3 years could have propelled T-mobile into 3rd place in terms of subscribers. If I were to guess, then I would say that this is the reason why the CEO got the boot.
T-mobile is not doing that bad...what they aren't doing is beating out the competition with any of their handsets. Everything they release is done bigger or better by another carrier.
Its not as exciting as a 4G release, or a heavily marketed branded line of android phones like Verizon does... but clear away the smoke and mirrors and you'll have to admit that T-mobile is probably tied for 2nd at best (with Sprint), or at worst 3rd overall on android handsets.
The only thing they are missing is a 4.3" high end device to be the definitive 2nd place android carrier.
As for being #1... it won't ever happen. Verizon has 3x the subscribers and charges 20% more for service. They have the cash to burn to stay on top in terms of handset selection.... which they pretty much have to because iPhone lovers will never leave AT&T until the handset is available elsewhere

LOL. Hard to see sprint calling it in for LTE. The have spent so much money on wimax that it will probably push them under if that happens.
ATT & Verizon is automatic with the fees. This will happen sometime before March roles in. LOL.
T-Mobile will probably get brought out by ATT. Just because they both use GSAM network. But then again, T-Mobile is really big in Europe , so they will probably sell T-Mobile USA.

I have read a lot of threads about what is Sprint going to announce & every single one of them has people saying it's going to be the iphone or a 4G Iphone. Use Google & find how much $ Verizon has & will shell out to get the Iphone. Yes they will make much more in three long run, but I just don't see Sprint spending billions of dollars just to get the Iphone which would not even be an industry first. Don't u think if Apple was going to make a 4G iphone they soul have implemented lte in their Verizon version?

+1 on the iPhone 4g. Sprint big money is going to their network.
Sprint will have both LTE and Wimax, Wimax isn't a wasted investment. They can do both.
Sprint squashed the rumor on the iphone coming to their network via twitter weeks ago. How do people still think this is the big announcement?
I believe Verizon is paying for exclusivity for them and AT&T only to have it for the next few years.
Hopefully its about an update for current Android capable phones to get Gingerbread finally.
With Sprint, I guarantee it won't be a "big announcement". Mediocre announcement at best...
hmm
an iphone 4 with wimax vs a 3d crap...
Wonder which one is better.
Which is better? Anything with Android is better. Why put down 3d phone, especially when you haven't seen it. And don't compare it with TVs, it might be a different experience. I am very interested. Much more interesting then a ho-hum friggin iPhone fer chissakes. Boy, why lower you bar for tech. It should be something new and potentially cool. Just my opinion.

I had a conversation with Sprint and although they did not say what the announcement was the rep did say its an industry first. The iPhone isn't an industry first although a 4G iPhone may be. If it was something to do with the iPhone Apple would probably announce it and not Sprint. Apple like to run their own rodeos. A 3D phone would be a first and if its anything like the Nintendo DS 3D it would be kind of cool but I don't know what platform they would run it on. Windows phone and Android aren't designed for this type of thing.

What the heck is Sprint THINKTIG?

I left at&t grandfathered in with their unlimited data because I wanted android, the the evo was the bomb, so it was a good fit. Now that I can upgrade, what will I upgrade to?
I don't think everyone has to worry about their contract. Sprint just put the final nail in their coffin.
How can you make a new phone that will run slower (yes it has a faster processor), but more work to do. No gingerbread, no front camera, no 4g and to top it off a crappy manufacturer. Microsoft has to love this.
I see HTC starting their own MetroPCS service and growing from there. Or even a Google HTC partnership.
What a major letdown. Perhaps its time to fire Dan, as he has no imagination.

No, the retention department is not flooded. Believe it or not, the majority of people (about 99.9%) don't base their cancelling decision on an announcement they don't like.
Yeah, I might be really let down by Sprint, but I'm not running off to the other two carriers.

ive been with sprint for 10 years now, and theyve had nothing but terrible phones, the evo has been the most worthwhile phone ever to come out of sprint.
im still happy with the evo as long as the devs keep supporting it and bringing out new features to keep me from getting bored with it.
im sure sprint will announce a new htc phone sometime this year, i hope.
Why would you leave a carrier because of a phone they announced? Sure, it's a silly phone that I have zero interest in but it didn't ruin my day or come to my house and kick my dog. People get so worked up over nothing these days.
I bet most you aren't even eligible for an upgrade anyway.
Sph33r,
Don't rain on our negative parade.
I've been up for an upgrade for some time, waiting for HTC to perfect the EVO and stay competitive.
Trust me, Sprint very well knew the EVO was their bread and butter. Why else do they still run commercials? Heck we all paid a bogus $10 fee knowing 4g was not coming any time soon. To add insult to injury, they now charge everyone this BS fee, instead of manning up and just adjusting the price of the plan. Do they think we are all that dense?
This announcement was just a kick in the ass, showing they are truly clueless. Worst off, if you are going it alone in the Wimax arena, what confidence do you have on the company you own by leaving it out of the phone. I think we all pretty much know they will be forced down the LTE path now that Verizon dumped Wimax. If they had any balls, they would have put an LTE radio in, to show they had any brains.
There comes a time when good price for a service gets trumped by bad management, lies, and sub-par offerings. HTC has been the Savior for sprint this last year, and they too were left out on the cold. Even if HTC makes a new phone on their own, Sprint's marketing dollars have just been pissed away.

By the way, sorry for the typos above; and thanks to the devs for squeezing out the last bit of juice from our EVOs.

Left out in the cold? There are 2 more major mobile conferences coming up. You're 100% positive that Sprint will not be introducing an HTC phone during one of those?
Yeah this Kyocera phone blows. Don't get it. Hold out for the EVO 2 that will likely come out this summer.
I hate when people don't know what they are talking about. Sprint mentioned that they have no problem switching to LTE if it's the standard for the world, before they greenlit WiMax. Numerous times they made notions that will go towards LTE, (LTE World Conference, Clearwire changing their contract with Intel, Clearwire testing LTE with Sprint evaluating it, Network Vision, which will make sure the LTE switch is easy, Beceem creating an WiMax/LTE chip, Sprint stating they have the power to use both) How the hell did Verizon dumping WiMax forced Sprint to go towards LTE, if they were never going to that technology in the first place? Btw, you see that EVO 2 that people are convinced coming out this summer? It may drop in the 4Q. It's not the HTC Sabor either, so I think people need to ignore those specs. Just a little fyi.

Wow.. dude it was ONE phone announcement. There's 10 more months in this year and trust me, you'll have plenty of options. How did HTC get left out in the cold anyway? If they don't have a new awesome phone for Sprint, that's their fault. I think they're probably too busy cranking out something for the the soon to be over-saturated tablet market anyway.
You're over reacting but if it makes you that mad there's other carriers out there.

i wouldnt leave for the phone itself, but the pure lack of vision that sprint has.
last summer sprint shocked the entire cellphone world when the EVO dropped. it as a sign that somebody at sprint was getting a clue. now come along with echo-o-o-o. from what i am gathering it is a joke of a device made for a joke of cell provider....
perhaps it is a perfect fit...

I'm curious: if you left AT&T for Sprint to get the Evo, that would have been in like June? At the earliest? So.... how are you already up for an upgrade? Please share, I want upgrades every 8 months too!
AT&T drops the Atrix 4G in March, only to release news of the Attix 4G 2 in November. Verizon drops the Thunderbolt this month, only to drop the Thunderbolt 2 in October. It's stupid that people think the EVO 2 would be released in less than a year, but I don't blame you guys for reaching out in desperation. The other carriers give me numerous toys to play with, and not Sprint. It's not because of this worldwide claim that they are poor, it's because they think their strategy of not releasing a library of smartphones in one year works. You would be surprised on how many devices for different manufacters that Sprint has in the lab. If they continue this strategy, a buyout will eventually take place or they will become 4th.

So, I literally just joined this forum to reply to this thread.
This is by far the most ignorant thread I have seen on these forums in awhile.
The Evo Shift was NOT designed to replace the Evo. It was made for those people who wanted:
Slide-Out Keyboards
Smaller Phone Size
A good smartphone for less money
Not every phone that Sprint releases is meant to be the biggest and baddest "next" thing. Most people on XDA are in the demographic that looks for that, but despite being lost in your little world, there are some people out there that actually don't want such a huge bulky phone, and they miss the days when you could actually FEEL the keys on your fingertips.
The Evo Shift was created for those people, for the demographic who is NOT you.
And before the flames start, I own a standard Evo 4G, and would never switch to the Shift, but my girlfriend hates my phone, and would love nothing more than to be able to switch away from her Incredible, to the Shift.
Perhaps there will be a war of screens kind of like the war on number of razor blades on disposable razors. We might see a 5 screen phone in a couple of years.

Upgrade eligible form March lost

So, whoever it was on this site claiming to work for Sprint is likely full of it.
He assured people over and over that if your upgrade was before April 1st that you would NOT lose it.
I had an upgrade in March (save 150$). I lost it. All I have now is save 75$ or save 150$ in 273 more days.
Now that T-Mobile is going away, Sprint will likely do more stuff like this.
I bought my evo last year the day it was releqsed (i think june 4th)on contract and it shows Im eligible for the full $150

i was eligible for an 150$ upgrade in feb, now it shows 75$ and and 150$ in january...i am confused and hope that this asking for a reset thing will work...if not i may leave for T-Mobile when it gets the HTC Pyramid..same as Evo3D just no 3D...
Don't worry buddy all these wireless providers are starting to do shady sh!t like that its pretty sad. When I start my own wireless company called "diggler mobile" ill let you switch your numbers over; My slogan will be "come to the darkside, we have LTE"
On topic though, why would you listen to someone over a forum(not bashing dirtyshroomz ^_^) but wouldn't it have been smarter to call care, or chat with a Rep in store?; people sometimes carry different info man so you really can't point the finger at anyone.

So, why are you *****ing about me *****ing anyway?
I was looking at the HTC 3d, but definitely not now. It may be all the better since HTC is locking that crap down anyway =\
T-Mobile is soon to be AT&T so I highly doubt there will be anything there for me... although I am checking into it right now.
lost mine too, I only 120 days out from my contract being done anyways. I bought evo full price and plan to do so with the nexus s, and sell my evo for +150 plus should be like upgrade price anyways.
On a side note I remember reading that android would lower the prices of phones since OEM's would not have to hire software engineers to make their own or license from MS. So when is that going to happen
This statement is no intention of *****ing or trolling

Because it's a bull****, underhanded, bait and switch move. Yeah Sprint is within their contractual "right" to rescind the incentive they offered so many thousands of people, but it's dirty pool man. In retrospect I do believe this was a calculated move to maximize new subscriptions with the EVO then turn around and sell more EVOs before the next big **** comes out.
A csr said to me "but sir, none of our competitors offer yearly upgrades".. Ma'am, none of your competitors offered yearly upgrades WHEN YOU OFFERED IT TO ME IN 2009!!
They have absolutely sent the message to this consumer "We know we're the best deal in town, if you want to go to Big Red or Hell (at&t) please BE OUR GUEST!, and fvck off while you're at it"
Of course I'm not leaving Sprint. IMO they have the best phone (just one, the evo, but I only need one phone) and I admit all this apparent collusion between Sprint and Google is very exciting.
In summary: Sprint, imo you're the best wireless service provide but why you gotta go **** blocking us loyal customers right before the hottest ***** in history hits the street??
That hurts my feelings, and I feel some serious e-blue-balls coming in a few months..
Ultimately I'll probably end up selling plasma (kidding) so I can buy the 3D at full price, but dammit you can't make me be happy about it!!

Yeah that would be the "smarter" thing to do.....lol
I had a webchat with a sprint csr last week, and he said I had a full upgrade eligibility as of 7/1/11. I got my phone on 7/30/10.
On April 1st, i texted upgrade to '1311" and it said the same thing...$150 upgrade on 7/1/11.
Well I just logged onto the Sprint website and now they are saying 5/1/12. I guess no EVO 3D for me. Sprint's ETF are pretty small, so I imagine I'll just break contract and go somewhere else this summer.
Rule of thumb: Don't take the word of a guy who calls himself "DirtyShroomz" as gospel.

DirtyShroomz does work for Sprint, he's been around for a long time on these forums and he's helped a lot of people out.
Instead of your wild claims about how Dirty ruined your life, why don't you either:
a) PM him and work it out, or
b) at the very least, post a link or at least quote the "bad" information he gave you.
Starting a thread to specifically bash another user (especially one who goes out of his way to use his unique position and experience to help others, OFF the clock for free).... well that's just a low blow, man.
I'm not saying he didn't give you bad info, but I am saying you need to either post the specifics or keep your mouth shut.

Complete and utterly agree.

what do you guys think?

http://www.phonedog.com/2011/06/08/sprint-iphone-currently-undergoing-advanced-testing/
We've heard a couple of rumblings in the past month or so suggesting that a Sprint iPhone may be on the horizon, and tonight the mythical device is back in the news. According to unnamed sources speaking with 9to5Mac, a version of the iPhone similar to the iPhone 4, possibly the iPhone 4S, is currently being testing by both Apple and Sprint. The tipsters claim that Apple ordered Sprint cell towers for their campus in late 2010 in order to test the device, which is similar to the process Apple went through while prepping the Verizon iPhone. The device that's currently in testing is said to be 3G-only, although it's said that talks of producing a 4G Sprint iPhone are underway. However, those negotiations may cause the device to be pushed to late next year, meaning that if we see a Sprint iPhone this year, it likely will not be 4G-enabled.
A separate report from Talk Android reiterates one analyst's claim that the iPhone 4S will be made available to both Sprint and T-Mobile. The site claims that AT&T/Verizon and Sprint/T-Mobile will alternate getting a new iPhone each year, with AT&T/Verizon getting first dibs on the iPhone 5. Additionally, it's said that if and when the Sprint iPhone does arrive, its users will need to pay $89.99 per month for a data plan rather than the $69.99 Everything Data plan that Sprint currently offers. In the same report, Talk Android claims that Sprint is planning to begin using an LTE network, a rumor that has surfaced several times in the past.
Rumors about a possible Sprint iPhone have been around for some time, but they've been getting a tad more frequent and more detailed as of late. The possibility of such a device existing does seem a bit more plausible since the arrival of the Verizon iPhone, and it could make sense for Apple to make a Sprint iPhone available in order to bring even more iOS users into the fold. That said, all of this information is still firmly in the rumor category for the time being, so it'd probably be wise to keep a grain or two of salt nearby. What do you all make of the latest round of Sprint iPhone scuttlebutt? Is the iPhone nearing release on the Now Network?
90 bucks ugh no thank you. If I want an iPhone ill just flash miui LOL.

It will have to be a iphone9 to compete with the samsung sg2 releasing in july and the sg3 in the near future not to mention what the other manufactures have coming. If ICS is implemented in the 4th quarter/1st quarter 2012 to most phones and tabs to cure fragmentation Apple will be a pimple on Androids ass
Not to mention phonedog is so far up apple ass its hard to tell where one starts and the other one ends...just more of apples propaganda to brainwash the isheep
hah what both you said was very true=)
so are you guys going to get the 10.1 tab?
$90 a month? Are you freaking serious? No thanks... But if it is any consolation, I do think Sprint will be getting the iPhone in the near future.
I have trouble paying for my current bill haha. Can't even imagine paying more........
The galaxy tab is pretty 'meh' on my view. Limited/proprietary ports are the biggest thing holding me back from being interested in it. The 'Thrive' tablet that was shown at E3 lately was appealing, and then I found this:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/exclusive-dells-prototype-7-inch-tablet-touts-slide-out-split/
For me, a physical keyboard is a requirement (one reason I got the epic over the evo and others). Seeing a keyboard built into a tablet is awesome - it can be used when needed but doesn't require a battery draining weight adding bluetooth keyboard/case combo to pull it off. I've always been of the opinion that to add a keyboard in that fashion you've effectively made yourself a dumbed down laptop with a cell modem inside. That built-in slider keyboard is sexy though because it's out of the way when you can get by with touch-screen keyboard, but convenient and useable when needed for physical typing (when the virtual keyboard's screen real-estate useage is a pain in the ass).
I can't wait to see this tablet down the road.
More for less don't think so. The iphone lol what a joke the epic blows the iphone away. And with the evo3d and sgs2 coming soon why would anyone be intrested in an iphone. 3g at that. But hey that's just ppl on here. The uneducated masses who cant get enough of apple because its an iphone will proboblly still be intrested in this and raise sprints customer base so potentially a good move for sprint. But I wish sprint would turn away apple. And use all its energy too focus on android
Yup cant wait to place it along side my wifes ipad. Shes a 1st grade teacher and the school gave it to her and she thinks its a POS. Next school year theyre going to dump Apple and try Google Cromebooks and link the district through the cloud.
