(Q) droid x or ....?

I'm with Verizon. Currently have the iPhone. Its garbage and wanting the droid x. I was just wondering what is the best phone with Verizon right now?
I'm in my 14 day trial so I'm debating on what phone I want.
I would suggest droidX if you are ok with touch keyboard, or droid 2, if you prefer physical keyboard. If you wait a couple of months, the droid X2 is due in the second quarter. I personally use droid x and it keeps me quiet merry. Large screen, great camera, fast enough and on and on...

The X is a great phone! It offers a bunch of great customization and a great team of developers that work on it. If you want to be able to TRULY run a custom ROM (custom kernel such as Cyanogen Mod) then the X may not be the phone for you at this time. Devs are still working on unlocking/bypassing the bootloader.
HTC generally makes some good unlocked phones as well. Not to dissuade you from the X, as I personally have one and love it.
1+ on both reviews. Coming from the Eris and 2 weeks now, very pleased. Haven't felt the need to root. (Waiting for cyanogen)
Just discovered its car dock/multimedia dock as another nice feature.
Good luck.

Having had all the iPhones, which I dumped after trying out Android last year... and having/tried/using MANY others I have not been happier with my X... It has the screen I want, built like a tank even with all that glass, speed is great, battery life is VERY impressive (Added the OEM EB), and it is just a solid device inside and out.
Yes, the "modding" is limited and I really thought I was going to miss that because I enjoy testing, creating, etc.... but it really hasn't bother me, my only need for it was to add functionality that I couldn't get, but thanks to Bootstrap and multiple tweaks and mods, I am perfectly happy.
My opinion... You won't regret the switch.
Yup its an excellent phone. With 4g coming around, there will be many more choices with better features. Theyll also come with a bigger price tag and more expensive plans. For now the x is plenty for me.
After having had both Droid X and 2... go with the X. You wont be disappointed!

The Droid X I don't think will disappoint. I like mine a lot. If you are shopping for phones you might want the Fascinate as well.
maybe wait a little while and go with the thunderbolt? im done with motorola because i want to make sure that the bootloader wont be locked beyond what is necessary anymore.

Wanting to help dev tbolt/Selling Droid x

I'm looking to sell my droid x. Somewhere around 250 for everything. The X rooted or unrooted, stock or not. all powercords the normal battery and an unused screen protector. I do have the original box and manuals. throwing in the 16GB and possibly a sony bluetooth headset. This being said the reason i would like to sell my droid x is so that i can help dev the new Thunderbolt since I live in the 4g area but being unemployed i need help with donations to purchase one so the more donations I receive the cheaper i can let the X go. I'm looking to port themes and possibly ROMs when it's possible. I am a very avid enthusiast and try to stay on the cutting edge of development. ill post some pix in a little bit. If you would like to donate towards the thunderbolt let me know and ill try to figure out how to link u to a donation page or if you are interested in buying my droid x shoot me a message with an offer thanks for taking the time to look.

[Q] Some questions

Hi guys
I'm looking at buying a Motorola Atrix and notice that the Droid X also has a locked bootloader.
Were people hesitant about buying this phone at first just like people with the Atrix are? In my perspective the Droid X seems to have been a bigger hit than the Atrix was/is. What are your takes on this? Is it because on the Atrix full-blown MotoBlur is used and on the Droid X it is only used partially?
I also saw that the Droid X just got Gingerbread which is very cool. I saw it in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7UsvXQX-Ic
Basically what I want to know is what are the differences between this phone and the Atrix in terms of development, etc?
Thanks guys,
Elliott

Verizon's Q3 Droid Line

Droid Ultra, Droid MAXX, Droid Mini, and last but not least, the Moto X!
The Moto X won't be a Droid on Verizon, since Motorola wants to keep it as close to a Nexus as possible.
My Droid 4 has been a workhorse, but I think either the Droid Ultra or Moto X will be my next phone.
Any thoughts on this?

My only thought is "No hardware QWERTY keyboards".
Lol, probably should've expected that in this forum
I understand that a qwerty keyboard is amazing, but I understand why many OEM's are ditching them to get thinner phones

I don't.
I don't see much in the moto lineup that is bringing anything new to the table in as far as the same sort of thing is available from Samsung, HTC, etc. If the Moto X could have a back cover you could remove, and attach a QWERTY keyboard slider instead, then I might be a bit more interested. Choosing the colour, or etching, or whatever? Big deal.
Well there are reports of Motorola dropping in a camera technology called 'Clear Pixel', something that's new to smartphones. If the Moto X doesn't impress, then I probably will be heading to the Droid Ultra

what's this about the double locked bootlaoders? Also, where's the qwerty?
If you're prepared to lose the hardware keyboard, may as well just get an HTC One or Galaxy S4 or something.
Personally I don't see the need for thinner and thinner phones. Whenever I handle my GF's Galaxy S3 I'm always afraid it will snap if I'm not really really careful with it.
Also, thicker phone means bigger battery, and seeing how there is nothing in the near future that will allow us to squeeze more power into a smaller space, it would make sense
The battery is the biggest bottleneck in technology IMHO, whether it be phones, laptops, or even electric cars
I think with google buying motorola. I Dont feel like buy a new device anymore. So droid razr m and droid 4 are my last phone from them. It started in 2011 when google told motorola probably to lock the backdoor from their device with razr. Motorola took dedicated button for shutter camera unlike 2010. Last year it was probably because of google that moto choose to lock the sd card and micro sim card option in droid razr hd/maxx and m like the iphone like. Now this year no sd option.
Im not liking Google temparing with Moto as they are
