HTC Aria available on Ebay - HTC Aria General

That didn't take long.

Ha, almost $500. Amazing how close it is in price (without contract) to a gently used Nexus One. Thank you for pointing this out.
I'm getting rid of my T-Mobile N1 because it sucks on AT&T (which I'm also stuck on due to insistent family members). I had bought the T-mobile version before any tech blog hinted that an AT&T version was coming out.
So anyway, Best Buy is offering this phone for $130 w/contract, with no silly $100 mail-in rebate for "AT&T cash" or whatever the hell it is. Yay!

take a look at the aria specs 1st, you may want to trade your tmo N1 for an ATT N1.... :2cents:

Unsubsidized it's overpriced, for sure. There is only $30.00 between that and a new N1.

I did research the specs, thanks... according to the results, its speed is comparable to the N1 despite the lower processing power (http://www.mobileunderground.info/showthread.php?t=14408). And it's been difficult to find someone who'd trade in this area... so I'll just use the extra $ to pay for textbooks. But thanks for your thoughts.
Attn1: It's funny how they overprice it (unsubsidized) and then throw a lot of $10 AT&T services in there that they hope you'll buy. Hopefully we can delete these when someone develops root or a rom for this....

I heard this phone will be available at costco for $99 (upgrade price) or 49.99 if you're a new customer.

AT&T's no commitment pricing is $379.00. That makes that $499.00 EBay price a huge ripoff.

It's $499 at my Best Buy. And I hate that they only have dummies so I couldn't even play with it.

Looks like AT&T no commitment price is the best no contract price so far.

Well, on Ebay you can sell the N1 and pretty much acquire an AT&T version for almost the same money.
I don't think that AT&T's $379.00 no contract pricing is out of whack for an Aria, really when compared to phones like the HTC Magic and the HTC Hero (GSM) which both cost more.
I know what you mean about those $10.00 services though. That you can't remove that software without root access is cheesy at best, but it's not the end of the world, either.

The only extra cost services are AT&T Nav and AT&T Music. AT&T Maps is free (albeit unnecessary). Family Map is preloaded, but these things are easy enough to ignore until it's rooted. It's not like they're the only carrier to load their programs on. I doubt that everyone on Sprint is way into Nascar, but it's usually there.
It's a great little phone that's more powerful than the specs would let on. It's smooth and fast. Mine was only $92 with my upgrade and fan discount so I couldn't resist. I don't want another iPhone so this is the best alternative at the moment.
btw, they didn't block Google Maps Nav like I thought they might and it works great.

I agree with you there. I got mine yesterday and it seems to handle 2.1 better than the N1 did! Of course, there are no live backgrounds... but I can have 7 apps running and it's still smooth, unlike the N1 which could handle only 3 or 4 apps before it lagged (on mine anyway... and using "end app" management programs at the same time... before I had upped it to 2.2).

I think this is the link to root the phone and install 3rd party pgms

G1 owners deserve early upgrade eligability for NEXUS ONE

I am feeling the hype of the nexus one, as im sure the rest of you are. It is truely an amazing phone, and i have a feeling it will have a xda following as powerful as the g1 has had. Seeing as though our phones are nearly out of date and close to its limit with android i was looking into buying a nexus one. NEVER would i pay 500 or so dollars for an unlocked phone. I have tmobile, but i have not had my g1 long enough for an upgrade(since last nov). Who else agrees that tmobile should be generous enough to enable us to buy the nexus one under upgrade pricing with a new 2 year agreement. They will be making their money from me, its just not right that we are basically going to be left in the dust.
No, g1 owners dont deserve anything. When you bought a g1 you paid for that phone. You never paid for any future proofing of any sort. This is like saying Windows Users should get every new version of windows free just for using windows.
You paid for a T-Mobile G1 and that is what you received. If you want to upgrade to a new phone you must pay for that new phone. These two phones have nothing to do with each other except that they both run Android. T-Mobile G1 is sold by T-Mobile, and Nexus One is sold by Google, it just happens to support T-Mobile's network.
If you think 529$ is too much just dont buy it, or wait for it to drop in price.

If anything, T-Mobile would at least upgrade G1 users to the MyTouch 3G like Rogers is going to upgrade their Dreams to the Magic because they say that it will not be able to upgrade them to 2.1 because of hardware limitations.
Doubtful that T-Mobile would take that hit though.

The only problem with that is the only benefit would be larger space for flashing a rom and wouldn't get the ram upgrade that you'd get if you upgraded to a magic. Unless they mean the 32b magic. Than i guess it would be the same thing. But imo, i'd rather have the keyboard then the extra space that could be solved by apps2sd.
I somewhat regret getting the mt3g.
I understand upgrading from a g1 to mytouch 3g, as they are very similar, but upgrading from a g1 to a n1 is like upgrading from a ford to a ferrari, price-wise.
I like the nexus, dont get me wrong, really seems to be advertised as an outstanding phone. I dont mind paying 500 cash for a phone, I bought my G1 for $450 anyway, but I am weighing my options between the droid and the nexus right now...simply because my number one love for the G1 is the qwerty keyboard, and droid carries that feature on but nexus doesn't.

FWIW the Nexus One "enterprise edition" has been rumored to sport a fully qwerty. At that time I imagine they also intend to support both proxies through the browser as well as WPA2 enterprise natively, but I can't say for sure as it's all just smoke right now.

yes we know, but fact simply remains that you signed a two-yr contract, a contract that stated how long you had to wait before upgrading...therefore, you must wait that time out....regardless of phone issues, thats with any cell company, T-mobile cant make business being generous, so your topic of this thread is just wishful thinking...but not a bad idea though, cus i agree it would be nice.

I know this, but T-Mobile is the one who subsidizes it. That is why I said it tht way
in any case, if you subsidize you are paying 80$/month for 2 years for a plan which without the nesxus one costs 60$ a month +180$ upfront!
24 x $20(Amount you are overpaying for the plan) = $480
$480 + $180 = $660
$660 - $530(price of a phone unsubsidized) = $130 OVER PAYED!

Subsidizing phones is just to make it more affordable for people who doesn't have the cash on hand. It's kind of like when you get a loan for a car. Most people won't have all the money for the car so they get a bank loan. When you get the loan you'll be charged interest until you've payed the car off. that extra $130 you are "overcharged" is just interest, in this situation.

Samsung Vibrant to only cost $330 OFF CONTRACT?

Its seems that the fine folks at phandroid have stumbled across this little nugget of info tucked neatly away in the fine print of the Samsung Vibrant's shop page.
†On approved credit. $82.50 down payment, plus 3 monthly payments of $82.50, required. 0% APR. Taxes & fees additional. Available only at T-Mobile-owned retail stores; see store for details.
phandroid.com/2010/06/30/samsung-vibrant-to-cost-330-off-contract-galaxy-s-fine-print/
If u do the math that equates to $330. I hope T-Mobile plays it smart and doesn't change the price before launch, because I definitely assumed the off contract price would be $450-$550
In any event, there also seems to be a "REAL" screen cap of the actual price tag on the page before TMO decided to remove it. Here's the link to that also...

Jesus Christ. Do you seriously think that the Nexus One retails for $529 but THIS phone - which is better in every.single.way is going to retail for $330?
That's quite literally one of the stupidest things I think i've read in a long, long time.
Personally, Im pretty sure the phone is going to cost $500+ because the on contract price vs. this supposed on contract price doesn't make sense and this also bucks the trend of previous costs associated with phones of this level.
However, it would be a nice (and courageous) move on TMO's part with this slightly, in comparison, paired down galaxy s model to move units.
Anyway, I thought I would share this sliver of hope with the TMO faithful lol.
This just reminds me of the entire "Project Dark" / EM+ debacle where some blogs reported errors/rumors as facts of an upcoming program. So when EM+ came out, the news wasn't that TMO cut their pricing, it was that they didn't live up to the hype that some bloggers posted about false pricing info.
Same damn thing now. People ARE going to be disappointed if they think that in any reality (normal or alternate) TMO is going to sell this phone for $330 without a contract to recoup the cost of the device.
also, this phone is a $750 phone unlocked:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...w?ie=UTF8&qid=1277908710&sr=8-1&condition=new
If you look at the T-mobile site now it says "125 down, with 3 monthly payments of 125" thus making the phone in the $500 range
as you said, that price has been pulled down, and curently at the bottom of the page is of the info screen (when you go to their web and shop for phones, and then for samsung phones) it shows:
"†On approved credit. $125 down payment, plus 3 monthly payments of $125, required. 0% APR. Taxes & fees additional. Available only at T-Mobile-owned retail stores; see store for details...."
others have reported off contract pricing at $439 / $439 and some at $499

The Vibrant is defiantly NOT better in every single way.
The Nexus one Has a Bluetooth car dock, No word about anything like that for the Galaxy S phones.
The Nexus One is made out of much much better materials, The vibrant feels cheap in the hand and the body looks cheap, the only thing on the Vibrant that looks better is the screen.
The Vibrant has no FLASH, How some one could make a High end Android phone without a flash is beyond me, but oh well.

Samsung Focus price drop looks PERMANENT

If you haven't heard already, AT&T's website shows a change in price for the Focus which was originally $199 and is now $99 on contract. I was assuming this was just a random New Year's sale but now I'm not so sure.
Yesterday on Gizmodo, I noticed that Microsoft was advertising WP7 and the Focus but those banners had been there for a while. Then I realized it was also advertising the $99 price and I don't remember AT&T advertising many of their sales before.
Today my cousin needed to return a router to AT&T so I went to the local store in Southern California and I decided to check out the price. There it was on the sign: "$99 on contract". That rules out a web-only sale too. So after my cousin had returned the router. I asked one of the employees there about the phone's price. He said they just got word of the new pricing last night and changed it in-store this morning. I asked him if it was permanent and he replied, "I'm not completely sure. Like I said, we only just got the message yesterday and it just said to change the price."
If it were a sale, then AT&T would probably be screaming about it from the rooftops and make their employees tell customers it was a limited time only...but that's not the case. So it looks like the Focus has officially dropped to $99 on contract.
Now the real question is: why? Seems convenient for the price to drop the week of CES so maybe thats a hint that AT&T will be getting some new smartphones in their lineup soon, maybe even more WP7s. Another thing to consider is that AT&T is trying to rope in as many customers as it possibly can before Verizon gets the iPhone 4, which is rumored and has some evidence to support it happening a couple of weeks after CES. Take it as you will, but a great cutting-edge smartphone is now $100 and thats pretty sweet if you ask me.
Well, assuming the Surround and Quantum haven't dropped too, the Focus is the only 8GB WP7, and the 8GB iPhone is $99. It could be Samsung/Microsoft/AT&T wanted that price lower so the Focus was clearly a better choice.
@FishFace - Both the Samsung Focus and the LG Quantum are getting the $100-pricepoint-treatment.

That's what is so odd. Why are only the Quantum and the Focus getting the price drop?
My only theory right now is that AT&T wanted all three at the $100 price point but HTC declined while LG & Samsung both agreed. I'm sticking with my master theory that AT&T wants as many people as humanly possible to come to AT&T before Verizon's iPhone is announced as this also makes sense with AT&T offering early upgrades for people interested in buying the iPhone 4.
$99 on contract price is so so as most online dealers already sold them for $49 or free. However, the biggest story in this price reduction is that both Focus and Quantum now sell for $399 off contract. That's a very attractive price for me w/o (not even possible right now) sign up two more years of contract.
I suspect the HTC doesn't sell as well as the other two. And also this move is in anticipation of WP7 phones will be released to Verizon and Sprint soon, not iPhone. iPhone itself has the price drop as well at the same time.
iphone4 is not the threat. It would be the iPhone5 ! Or even WP8 !
And the strategy to go to a $100 now is brilliant. I mean how many smartphones that are really worth buying are at this price point? Seems to me that they have found a great price point and will sell millions of them. They proabably get some kind of rebate from Microsoft for selling so many units and Microsoft will benefit from increased users buying Apps or XboxLive games.
No different than a Toyota Corolla. Make a good car and sell it at a great price point and they sold LOTS of them. Build up a huge customer base and when the customer is ready to replace the Corolla, then they up sell to the Camry or to the Lexus., or sell them another Corolla. Eitherway they have huge following.
HTC doesn't know how to make a reasonably priced phone. Well, they know how to make a phone that should be reasonably priced, that's all they make, but they don't price them according to what they're actually worth.
In case you guys are interested, Amazon Wireless is selling the Focus for $0.01 today. Stock is definitely on the move. I'm guessing a Focus 2 with Super AMOLED Plus might be on the way.
Pretty simple, ATT is the only company presently that has a Galaxy S windows7 phone, my guess is the rest of the cell companies are about to get their versions too, much like they all did with Android.
If the Focus is priced $100 cheaper than tmobile, verizon, sprint galaxy S versions, they hope it will take the steam out of their fanfare.
Only reason there isnt a Windows7 phone in my house currently is cos I only have tmobile and sprint.

Just bought one off Amazon for $0.01. Friend got one through AT&T for the same price after he told them about the Amazon offer.
ATT told me that most likely its because its a 3g phone and they're in the process of rolling out the 4g network. Whatever, I got the phone for 0.01...Including shipping!
It says in the website that it can be as upgrade to an existing line. My question is, what if your line is not eligible for upgrade yet. Will your bill show up with the list price after a month or two? Has anyone encounter this yet?
If you are not yet qualified, you have to pay full out of contact price which is $399 if you go to an AT&T store or $499 from 3rd party online.

Could be but somehow I doubt it has anything to do with 4G, since the average consumer I don't think knows about 4G or cares at this point. The fact that they are willing to give you the phone for free tells you they know they will make their money back by the end of the contract, with a sizable profit .

Thats what I feel too. The other thought is trying to get people to Att network before the iPhone comes to Verizon or whatever.
It says in the website that it can be as upgrade to an existing line. My question is, what if your line is not eligible for upgrade yet. Will your bill show up with the list price after a month or two? Has anyone encounter this yet?

i had 10 months left in my contract, and 2 separate phone calls by me (and one by a friend who got the same deal) said that my old contract was being ended, and they would create a new one that started the day the phone was activated. They know if you're eligible for an upgrade - they ask for your phone # and last name. My friend who called had 3 months left on his contract, and was unable to get the deal at first. When he called AT&T, they cleared his contract and he checked on their again -and it was eligible. He ended up buying through ATT because they said they'd match the same deal.

Could you ask him how he got it through AT&T? I just asked a branch store and they said they could not offer the $0.01 deal...
I'm thinking of getting one off contract for $400. (don't wanna get locked in to Rogers - $400 voice cancellation + $100 data cancellation, 3 yr contract).
What have your experiences been like with unlocking? I heard ATT is refusing to unlock, and unlock codes go for up to $40 online...
When I was in-store the other day, I'm pretty sure the sale price on the Focus said until 1/31. I think it's only good for a couple more weeks, but we'll see.

Anyone know where I can get the Lapdock for cheap or anyone selling?

Let me know guys. Thanks!
Got one at best buy for $399 but its.going back. Its overrated.
With all the threads today I'm actually trying to decide whether or not to ship my iPhone offto Gazelle and return the Atrix.
Powerful phone and very responsive.
Just not wild about being at ATT and Motorola mercy for software update someday.

There are things I love/hate about both the iPhone and Atrix, so I'm seriously caught in the middle. Any thoughts about why I shouldn't ditch the Atrix yet? You said wait, but I'm not sure "what" you wanted me to wait for
Some are selling on ebay for around $350.
not spending 500 bucks...
I'm in with the "cheaper dock" thing
I want the dock, I find the idea to be genial, but I do not see why I should pay $500 for essentially a screen, a keyboard and a battery.
So, anyone know of a cheaper source (or when - if - prices eventually go down), let me know. I'll keep subscribed to this thread
As I mentioned. Best Buy - $399.00 ($100 off)
You can order it from Motorola for around 360; granted I took my Atrix back before I got a chance to use it.
I love the idea but a lot of reviews and people with first hand experience said it was a little laggy.
If it was 200 bucks I'd grab one today though.

Not anymore, you can't. It is not available anymore in Moto's online store. Before they took the accessory down, they bumped up the price again to US$499.
Not sure if I even want to spend 400 bucks on it (bestbuy). I personally think that is still too much for this piece of hardware.
It's $299 from ATT after a $100 MIR. I can't post links yet, but just search for lapdock and it comes up.

Only applies for people on an AT&T plan. Where this does not apply, this is the same price as letstalk.com.
Thanks for pointing it out though, this is another place to order. And a good deal for AT&T customers
It seems the Lapdock is now on sale in Canada for a mere CAD 330 (as opposed to US$ 399 being the cheapest in US). Unfortunately, it seems futureshop does not ship internationally, so it seems there is no way for me to order it from there.
This, however, brings up an interesting pricing question: is Moto test-driving a different price in Canada, just to see how it sells? Does that mean the US price is going to drop, or does it mean the Canadian price is going to go up later on?
More importantly: how do I get this shipped internationally from Canada? Any ideas?

If it were me, I'd have it shipped to a postal annex or USP store or something, then have them intercept it and forward the mail to any address of your choosing.

I feel kinda bad for anyone trying to sell a Titan on the MP now...great deal though, maybe trying to clear stock for the LTE sequel.
Amazing deal here. Thanks given This is even cheaper than new ones on eBay!
I've always loved the design of this phone and would have tried one out if I was able to get T-Mo 3G on it
Once those with the "free" Titans (or Focus S) they got from the Microsoft trade-in promotion start unloading theirs, the price should drop. The Titan2 is just around the corner too.
