Hi all. I can not find any solution to this. I have set up my phone to never update anything on auto, and yet my Facebook app (preinstalled one) still notifies me on friend requests, so still there is some updating taking place. I've turned of gmail sync and SE sync and everything else that allows updating even in the FB app settings, anyone else experience this? It is only this that seems to update though but still, it should'nt.

Mine is set for no updates and yet it tells me when there is an App update available.......................weird, its possessed!

Hello All,
Am new to HTC Android Phone. I have setup my contacts photos to be picked up from the respective Facebook Profiles. Although this happened the first time, if a contact changes the photo on facebook it is not getting updated in the phone? Is there a way to manually force an update??
Facebook sync is enabled (i guess once every 12 hours) and it has been several days since the contact updated the profile pic on FB.

Pretty annoying, but I have not found a way yet to fix it. Looks like a problem with facebook for android.

It seems that the facebook sync method doesn't check if the facebook profile pic is updated or not. Probably to save network bandwidth and sync time. But it is kind of annoying that it is not updated.
I have exactly the opposite problem. The pictures assigned to my contacts in google keep getting updated with those in facebook. While I don't mind that for contacts that do not have pictures in Google, it is quite annoying for such that do.
i pressed the sync all widget and all my face book images updated
my legend is rooted and running the modaco rom tho

Strange that it works for you. Can't see how a root or new rom would change anything. I have the same problem, using stock unrooted rom. Kinda hoped it would be fixed with new update, but no luck

I was also facing the problem of getting updated display pic from facebook and thought that there wasn't anyway to solve.. until after i ran into the FriendStream problem.
My FriendStream started acting strange and refuses to update friends' status today, it force closes when i try to launch the application proper. After reading up online, I did what others suggested, remove the facebook account and re-add it to FriendStream.. It got my FriendStream working again, plus a bonus - it "re-linked" with all my contacts in People and updated their profile pics! =D
Might take a while for it to fetch all the display pics again though, so I'd recommend doing it with a WiFi connection
My facebook profile pics update but there is a major delay between 12 and 24 hours) even though facebook and friend screen update every 10 minutes

i know this is an old thread so hoping there was a better fix for this issue? terribly annoying
Doing a refresh in the friendstream app updates the photo in the app but not the contact photo
I have found no way to update the photos till now... have even tried unlinking the Facebook profile from the contact and readding - no use...

Anyone else having this problem with the facebook app on their HD2?
All status updates in the news feed appear to be wall posts to the same user (see pic attached).
Also Status Updates are just blank.
I've tried full reset, removing my memory card, and literally just installing the facebook app (from marketplace) and I still get the same issue.
oh, the same on my Facebook Client...
same here, this was reported in the energy rom thread too.
seems to be an error at facebooks end and theres not much we can do....
I would recommend using touch.facebook.com in the meantime....

I have this problem, but it hasn't started working again for me! If I log out and back in, it will gather updates once, but then it will stop working again!

I have the same problem with updates, my app won't update at all even if I hit refresh.
log out of facebook and log back in every time you want it to update. or use your browser.

I just had a strange problem with my Vibrant. Perhaps someone can help.
I don't know if this is the correct forum to put this in... if not, apologies and feel free to move it.
For the record I am running Vibrant9 on the phone, and everything has been running beautifully for a few weeks.
This morning, in fact, everything was running just fine. Then, all of a sudden, my phone lost all connectivity, both mobile networks and 3G. I rebooted the device, and the mobile network and 3G seemed to come back, but now it will not connect to my google accounts. I get messages saying either the account has changed, or the password is wrong for both accounts.
Web seems to be working over 3G, and I can make calls, but I cannot look up e-mail, and I get notifications saying my google accounts are failing to connect.
I'm not sure how to move forward with this, and I've never seen anything like it. I can log into my google accounts on my PC just fine, so the accounts and the passwords are OK... seems to be the phone.
I will keep looking, but has anyone seen anything like this before ? Anyone have this happen in the last 10 minutes ??

Until I can get 2.2 installed, I've given up on the existing gmail app that comes with 2.1. The gmail market app that is published recently is only 2.2 compatible. I've been using K9 for both gmail and my imap account and been far more pleased with it.

Really ? That's interesting. So google's mobile connections might be down ?
I can't find anything about that online... anyone else wanna weigh in ? Is this just a problem for every android handset ?
How frustrating.
Are you able to log into gmail on a computer? I had that same message the other day. Wasn't able to connect, my account had changed or password was wrong. Turned out, at 4 am there was spam sent from my gmail to 5 of my contacts. Gmail caught it and made me revise my password. After that, all is back to normal with market, gmail, etc...
Good thought, but I can actually log into gmail from my phones browser just fine with the same address and password.
Still have the same problem. Can log in to my mail using the other android email app. Just not the default app. Market broken, and anything needing that google account.
If others aren't having the problem, then it must be me, but I'm damned if I know what it is.
Might try restoring my nandroid backup.
Any other thoughts?

Hi I just started having the same problem as well. Computer based gmail is working fine, but I can't access my two accounts through the gmail appand my mobile network connection seems to be down.
Edit: mobile network is back, but my accounts still aren't connecting.
Ok I just resolved this problem. Guess how?
I restored the nandroid backup that I took yesterday. Working fine now.
And what has changed since I took this backup? Only that I installed the overclocking kernel released yesterday... Could it be that?

Ok strange new symptom.
My nandroid backup doesn't replace the kernel, so I'm still overclocked and still running the new kernel.
However, since restoring now my google accounts seem to work (market ok, voice ok etc.), I can receive email, but not send it.
This is really troubling. Anyone have any similar problems, or ideas?
EDIT : The kernel I flashed yesterday is "[KERNEL] [2.6.29] [Flashable-.zip] [BFQ] [Oc] [Uv] #1 "Finally" '9.8 Linpack!'", which as far as I can tell is the only difference since this started happening.

Anybody else having trouble with facebook not syncing lately? I also notice that the feeds and updates widgets wont pull any facebook posts either and now wont update at all. I know the widget from launcherpro works so it must be isolated to something with facebook or the widget itself.
I was having the same problem after I did the froyo update and it wouldn't resolve itself so I made tmobile give me a warranty exchange to go back to eclair...any news on if it has been fixed yet?
I was able to "fix" this by removing the facebook and twitter accounts from accounts and sync in settings, re-booting and adding the accounts back in. I'm running Bionix V. Hope this helps.

Mine does this every so often too. So far, I just remove the widget from the home screen and reinstall it and it works.
Same problem here.
I didn't root still running the stock rom seems like the FROYO for galaxy S has been on major F*CK UP across the board. Sprint pulled its FROYO update for the Epic 4g can't wait to hear what goes wrong with the AT&T update.
Anybody running the stock rom have a resolution for the widgets and facebook/twitter sync issues tmobile customer care was no help.
Hey guys, I have been having a problem with Google Sync for some time now and wondered if anyone else
has the same problem. For me the auto-sync no longer works for any of the Google services, most noticeably gmail. On my old DHD and the N4 when I just got it, emails would appear on my device almost instantaneously after being sent no matter if I was on 3G or Wi-Fi or if phone was asleep. For last couple months the phone would sync emails about 1nce a day and since I need to know when new emails arrive, I'm forced to force sync from either Google sync in settings, or by clicking refresh from GMail itself.
I googled this issue many times and there seems to be a lot of people with the same problems and many different suggestions, I tried the ones listed below, but nothing works and if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know!
I have 3 Gmail accounts and my auto sync is turned on from both the quick toggles in notification bar, the power widget (don't use it just wanted to see if it would help) and from data usage settings. I'm running AOKP ROM milestone 1 but this problem as far as I remember happened on other ROMs too. I also do not have any power saving apps installed. I also have about 1GB of free memory. I also disabled browser sync under someone's advice.
Doing a clean flash of a ROM does help for couple of days, maybe a week, but then always the same thing happens. Clearing app data for Google apps might work, but I'm not sure if it will last and prefer a more permanent solution.
So does anyone have similar problem and/or knows a fix?
