Cool but I don't think anyone was excited about queue management in the iPad app. People just want to stream movies on their device.
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App

I can't find it in the market. Probably because of country restrictions. I'd appreciate if someone could post the apk just to try.
Thanks.

My biggest fear for streaming is that it doesn't buffer enough. Being on 3G, we are on a connection that's just barely fast enough to stream basic video. If I pause it for 10 mins, it better be buffering that whole time.

uhh.. I'm confused... who needs ipad netflix app when u can manage your queue from flixter???
You do realize the netflix app on the ipad actually streams the movie right?

Judging from the enthusiasm, I'm gonna guess the OP doesn't.

I didn't know it streamed movies... I guess its cool over wifi but with the new data changes and people that didn't lock into the unlimited plan...netflix is pretty much useless.

You know, except for when you're streaming movies over wifi or on your unlimited dataplan (which everyone who had an AT&T unlimited data plan a week ago still has), yeah - netflix would be entirely useless. But at least you could adjust your queue!

Speaking of netflix on the toilet.... Who else has seen the new Samsung Android phone with the pico projector? I could totally see myself killing an hour on the toilet at work projecting the image on to the stall door. Yay for timers on the bathroom lights!

Movies by Flixster was originally an iphone app

Lol I love the Android enthusiasm but this thread is just fail, no offence.

ehhh... I agree watching a movie over 3G is pretty pointless... and those new data plans are a joke for streaming media like that... it just makes me happy I didn't pay extra for the 3G version of the iPad, especially when I am hardly ever away from wifi. Even in that kind of a situation I'll remain content with my wifi hotspot Nexus to feed the iPad if it needs it.
but having netflix laying in bed or while visiting my parents who don't have cable is pretty cool.

Ahahahah I just saw this thread, I never use/say this, but this thread is an EPIC FAIL.
Movies was first on iPhone. It's now on Android
Netflix app on iPad streams movies. (So what if it's wifi only, 3G is coming soon, again so what about data restrictions, at least they'll have it).
Netflix app coming on iPhone soon, also wifi and 3G streaming soon.
Now, on Android, to stream Netflix......... still waiting for even a rumor....

HD2 vs N1 video quality

What is the deal with the N1 youtube video??..or video in general. It is complete crap. My wife got the HD2 a few days ago and we pulled up the same youtube videos and I was shocked. My video on the n1 was choppy pixelated and in some cases it didn't even use the entire screen.
What is going on? I don't watch a ton of youtube videos on my phone but thought it was just the videos that were uploaded.
I paid $574 for this phone and I cant watch a decent mp4 video. Am I missing something. I currently have the M Desire ROM but had CM and and Stock for video was terrible.
Any thoughts peeps?? That said I love my n1 but feel like I have been sold short.
Did you play the video on HQ? Not sure if you're aware, but you have the option to do so when you're on YouTube. let me know the outcome. I love the video quality on my N1.
Hold on. I am quite certain that you're doing something wrong. When connecting to youtube, are you using WiFi? Are you choosing to watch the Video in High Qaulity? When playing movies onto your phone, what format are you using? I don't know if there is a native format that works, but I paid the 1.99 for ACT1, which plays all my files very well. I am certain that the 'video quality' is much more intense on the N1 due to the AMOLED screen, how can you even compare to a TFT? Are you watching a movie while walking down the street on a sunny day?
Are you sure you are watching the high quality version of the video? I believe the N1 defaults to the low quality videos on the youtube app. The high quality ones on my N1 looks great imo.

Ping is out of control

I use to tether my 4G to my computer so I can play some TF2 after my work and school was done. I would normally get 110-150 which is very playable
Now I don't get lower than 300 which is unplayable. What gives?
I've tried HOSTS FILE fix
I've tried ##DATA# 0.0.0.0 and 0 in appropriate fields
And still nothing. I've checked my computer and use programs to block connections except to where I'm allow to prevent bandwith leeching
I've use task manager on my phone to kill unneeded programs but nothing!
Anybody else with this problem? This goes alongside my TERRIBLE download speeds
unfortunately video games through tethering isn't an ideal set up. I am surprised you were able to play even before.

With 4G I would ping 110-150ish

Thus why I use 4G. Now my 4G is 300-700 and my 3G is so bad I think it is like 700+

I was just going to say, even 100 ping is awful. You may not NOTICE lag, but its there, and its just enough to get you killed more often. You would need ping to be below 50.
And no, there is nothing you can do about it. That's the nature of wireless data. It takes a LONG time to send and receive data constantly from a tower that could be miles away. Do yourself a favor and get a cable or dsl connection.

Without flash, most of the pirate streams on the net will be unavailable to Ipad users, you can watch flash video without flash through a browser conversion like skyfire, but not streaming content.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Ah, OK. Flash. The beta implementation is pretty good. Hopefully the version released on the 18th will exercise the tegra with optimized hardware acceleration.
Watching the video review on engadget of a guy watching a video on engadget made my head hurt this morning
Let me preface this with a statement; i'm no fan of apple. However Jobs and his goons have a valid point in regards to flash. Its big, buggy, proprietary, power hungry and just generally a piece of crap on all platforms including the PC.
From a development standpoint, it can be tedious. I would choose silverlight over flash any day.
From a video standpoint, I hope HTML 5 takes over.
Problem is that flash is everywhere on the net right now. It is hard to do daily browsing without it.
Where apple dorked things up is not allowing the normal technlogy darwinism to take place. Flash will fade like divix and real media did when flash took over. The difference in apples case is that nothing is available to replace it (yet).
Apple effectively rejected the technology without giving people an alternative and I hope it affects their market share.
Allowing people to select what works best is why the internet ecosystem works and evolves. Not allowing choice is nothing more than simple asshattery on apples part.

Well that is the "Seriously?" face. Pretty sure he is commenting on how ridiculous it is that the Xoom is bested by a year old iPad and demolished by the iPad2 in that test. That said, the linked image is a synthetic benchmark test and is not representative of any real world performance really. The Xoom is faster than the iPad for real world gaming, but is trounced by the iPad2.

It's nice to be positive but this is just another step that has been taken lately that brings the likely end to support for "openness"
that's ok google, i'll just stream my dish network service to my phone for a one time fee and be able to watch the same channels i have at home for no additional cost.
I have netflix and hulu i'll be fine. I'm not that much of a movie watcher

Yeah, there many be alternatives to this specific service, but if this stands up it says that Google is no longer interested in openness.
People have been saying it's the movie companies pressuring Google. My question is why, since rooting alone doesn't mean you can bypass the payment service with Android Market. They'd still get their money.

Yeah that to! I could care less about overclocking with a dual core phone. I really just want this OS to take off man its been way too long and I think google needs to get in gear; if they don't windows will catch up and grab a huge chunk of the market shares. Im not asking for much but most the features that android is lacking need to be standard, one shouldn't have to root to achieve all these things (the list is long lol). For some strange reason I really feel like when all these wp7 nokia phones come out it will give them a huge jump! Everyone knows Nokia always had ****ty software but hardware is unsurpassed. Honestly, I think google needs to hit android with some more design that uses hardware acceleration or something different from the plain aosp look. Im not talking sense, or other flavors I hate fragmentation, they need to overhaul the design for aosp.

It's a bare face lie. Just because something says it can do that doesn't mean it will work or be practical
I know for a fact it wont work because the Xperia play is to weak of a device to do it natively you would have to use software decoding and cause major lag not to mention huge battery drain
In the end if you want TV out. buy a Droid X. the best smart phone ever made
(probably the strongest made ever)
it's reminiscent of a IBM magnesium case laptop
you can drive over them with a car and they still function

You're both wrong
Thats not a WiFi to HDMI Dongle. Its a mini Roku box. It only streams stuff from the Internet over WiFi. Like Netflix and Hulu, etc.
And Hogwarts, a long post about how another phone is better and to just use that is just about as useless as tits on a bull. If we wanted another phone we would have gotten one, but we like this phone because it has a game pad. We don't care about the Droid X or any other phone.

We are hoping to come up with a solution, thats why. Especially because Dev units DID have an HDMI out.
I personally don't care about TV out. But the part about "tits on a bull" made me laugh so hard I almost peed.

I don't care about the TV out or HDMI port.
I think it defeats the purpose of being a mobile gaming phone if it is attached to a TV.
Droid x isnt better becuase it doesnt have a gamepad.
No gamepad = just another cell phone = garbage.

Dear Droid X user..
Please use the exit door carefully as you can't be run over by a car like your Droid X.
Thank you.
