Acer Liquid VS Acer Liquid E - Liquid S100 Android Development

Hi,
Just wondering what the differences are. I'm thinking of getting the Liquid E from Rogers, but want to make sure that it's rootable.
As far as I know the only differences are:
Acer Liquid: Android 1.6; 256MB RAM
Acer Liquid e: Android 2.1; 512MB RAM
Is that it? Is the Liquid e rootable yet?
Thanks,
Rick

You can root it using the latest malez liquid recovery 5.3 .

The Acer Liquid A1 can easily be upgraded to run Eclair 2.1 just like Liquid E. It probably costs lesss than Liquid E. But the 256 MB RAM is the only real difference.

just got the liquid e and even without root I am very satisfied with this phone
does not feel like Im going to break it like the x10 does and also comes with 2.1 loaded with LWP that run very nice and many other goodies will post a dump soon
I am hard to impress and the Liquid E impresses me alot - the 512mb ram is noticeable when I have 390mb free..... lol

I'm about to get the Liquid E. I hope I'm as impressed as you are. Is root not available yet? Is the bootloader encrypted?

root should be available just like the liquid A1 running the E ROM, which I have and rooted. Only diff is the E gets 256MB more RAM.

so can you please let me know a little about the root process
does it over-write the current system image? or does it just root the phone and add custom recovery similiar to magic/dream, leaving the current build in-tact

root process as currently posted does not work - spl is perfect and will not allow commands to be run like that... that would make it to easy ;P

So I guess we're stuck with what Acer gives us for the E then ... too bad. That's what I miss most about my HTC Dream; Cyanogenmod. I tried the Nexus One, and didn't think it was worth $650. The Liquid E is very similar and way cheaper. Hopefully some new phones will come out in the next 6 months with root access.

I believe there are 2 main rooting methods. One is to install malez recovery and then it has a menu for rooting. The other is with superboot. I used malez recovery method on my A1. liquid.modaco.com has sticky links on these methods.

That only works on the Liquid and not on the Liquid E right? Has anyone tried to root and install a custom rom on the Liquid E?

Hey I just flashed a custom recovery on my Rogers Liquid E following instructions on the Modaco forums. I also installed the Community ROM and it just worked perfectly. The phone is just as fast as my Nexus One now, whereas before, it is as slow as my Sony Ericsson x10 (yuck).

Aside from speed how does it stack up against the x10?

My Liquid E seems to be pretty fast already. My only complaint is that it drains the battery quickly. from 100%-15% 9AM-5PM. Maybe I had it on in my pocket accidentally. The LED lights don't work on the community rom still though right?
Also, why do you have 3 phones?

LED lights work on Community Rom for regular Liquid. Should for E.

I am not currently able to do so
How did you manage this? when I try and use adb to reboot into recovery it fails and i am still retyring the manual method as well

Acer Liquid vs Acer Liquid E (Rogers)
Another key difference between the two should be
1. The Liquid runs on the UMTS 900/ 1900/2100 data bands.
2. The Liquid E from Rogers should run on the UMTS 850/1900 bands.
Can someone who has purchased the Acer from Rogers please confirm that.

850/1900/2100
so korea/japan compatible
was able to achieve root
the windows drivers did not work at all on my win7 64bit - i used ubuntu and stopped the adb server and then as root user started the server and was able to detect and flash the phone with custom recovery for root
the old button method did not seem to work so using adb reboot bootloader is required to get the phone rooted
If anyone could post a dump of the rogers stock rom - would appreciate it - as I lost mine trying to root ;o

I have the Acer Liquid E and it has 440MB available, more than the Nexus One. It's a pretty good phone despite its looks.
I'm working if you have a hardware problem alan, but I am not about to flash my Liquid to try.
You could fastboot erase all your partitions and ask for an exchange

I am trying to get the north american update package through acer support
I had to ask them if they were retarded to acknowledge my request and FINALLY am escalated to tier 2
hope to have something soon

[Q] Install Flash player on optimus one

Can we do something about flash player on optimus one?
the only solution that I am aware is installing skyfire beta browser..
let the phone get some a bit older and the guys gonna find a solution for that i mean there is a plugin for the iphone 3g to support flash.
and the iphone 3g is much slower as the lg
but on my device also skyfire don't plays flash videos...why?
Because Lg have set not permission to use flash with this phone...

No, because the cpu of the phone does not support certain instructions required for the actual flash player.
thats not really right the cpu got enough power but adobe set it to v7 cpus only so i dosent work maybe if someone do a modification its gonna work on v6 aswell.
and like i say this phone is alot faster as the 3g iphone so probley we can get it to work.
...but skyfire don't use Flash, works well on iphone

I did not talk about the cpu power, but about instructions which do not run on the P500s cpu, but only with v7 cpus.
I just use Skyfire for flash video sites. Works great.
The Indian version of Optimus 1 P500 has the flash player installed by default!
Hi,
Searching on LG's Indian site i've found the same info.
www_lg_com/in/mobile-phones/all-phones/LG-P500.jsp
In "Features" says:
Anroid OS 2.2 (Froyo)
The new LG Optimus One comes with Android 2.2 Froyo version with advanced benefits like improved speed, USB Tethering, Android Market, installation of apps in MicroSD Card, Adobe Flash 10.1 and lots more.
I just bought this phone and, here in Brazil, it came without Flash.
*Sorry my english.

It seems that currently the only version to have the flash player is that of India. Perhaps it has a firmware update with unlocked flash player.
someone needs to track that firmware down so the devs can cook up the files.
If someone owning this indian version of the phone would install the custom recovery, make a nandroid backup and make this available this would be great.
If someone has a download link to download this version of the ROM somewhere from LG (as *.kdz) this would be even better.
I just have found this: http://www.gadgetsreview.eu/2010/10/install-flash-on-lg-optimus-one-p500.html
But it does not work on my phone. Browser just closes while loading a page (even those without flash).
Can somebody try it? (After uninstalling the browser works again without problems...)

Tested it too. Same behavior tho... Well we just need to wait some Koothrappali to bring us a nand of an indian P500 :>
member silver_ramu has an indian version.. if you see this please nand backup your rom and send it too corwin asap!!!!!!
i dont see any flash support on there site maybe they take it out ?
I am from India and have been using this cell since a week now. There is no flash support *10.1 or Lite* whatsoever. The information published on the box and website is false as I have been unable to load any flash content of any kind on any site.
Eg:- gsm arena 360 phone view, youtube desktop version, any other video sites, newsground etc.
Flash support, is dependant on the processor an LG Optimus is not compatible in the world nor in India with it. *just registered on the forum to negate this view that we are lucky 'cos we have flash 10.1 (we DONT) *

[INFO] Centralize Galaxy Tab P1000L/P1000N Development

Hi fellows,
For sure, more than 95% of ROM development at XDA is devoted to P1000 version (Euro/USA/... Galaxy Tab version). Unfortunately (or not...), Samsung released at Latin America two different versions of GT: P1000L and P1000N. My researches shown that theses version has different hardware from P1000 one, and the most important, IMO, is the touchscreen. Conclusion: when we try to use custom ROMs, we aren't able to even use it.
So, I have started this thread to centralize information regarding P1000L/P1000N. Please, if you have these devices and have already tried to use a custom ROM or Kernel, please post the information here. With this, we can verify what modifications we need to make to adapt XDA custom ROMs/Kernels to our GTs.
We have the following topics here on XDA about our devices:
Humberto's ROM and Kernel (Froyo)
Humberto have compiled a Froyo Kernel and ROM with many improvements
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974408
Humberto's Kernel (Gingerbread)
Humberto have modified the original, leaked P1000N gingerbread kernel to add Lagfix and gave us instructions how P1000L users can flash P1000N gingerbread version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124224
My Gingerbread kernel
I have compiled a P1000L/N kernel for gingerbread after the source code release, adding many things like UV, OC, new governors, etc. To avoid mess with Humberto's thread, I decided to start a new one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274855
With the right kernels now, we can flash customs ROM like:
BOCA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172307
Overcome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205990
CM7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931857
OBS.: Always refer to P1000L/N Gingerbread thread from Humberto to verify which kernel you need to flash to use one of these ROMs!
Thanks!
I can provide the PDA, Modem and CSC Multi files to be flashed in Odin for P1000N from Claro provider if they're needed at all, only downside is that they're JJ1 not the JJ5 which they're currently shipping Tabs with. Honestly I don't see any difference between the versions, but there should be some.
Well, apparently we got a new kernel for GT-P1000L deceives that camera and TV tuner is fully working and has interesting capabilities, like 1.4GHz overclocking! Thanks to @humberos. More info on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974408
Additionally, my Vivo GT has received an update through Kies and now my ROM version is P1000LVJJMA, which I don't know yet if this kernel is compatible. I have contact @humberos and we will try to find out.

I can not attest to validity of the ROM, as I don't have a latin version, but yeah... There it is.

I see a lot of P1000CWLZTO being offered in online shops in Brazil.
Would that be a third version: "P1000C"?
What are the differences between the L, N and C versions?
I do like to have the digital TV. Actually, is it just 1seg? Does it show 16:9 broadcasts correctly (soccer!)?
Thanks!
Hi! I just got a gt-P1000n unlocked tablet from Chile. I leave in Canada.
Froyo 2.2, baseband P1000NUBJM2.
This is my first expeeience with android, i come from wm.
I've got a lot to learn.
After many unsuccessful attempts with z4root, i did root my tab with oneclickroot.
I have read these latin tabs are different than others. How?
Lesser quality?
I can't find any specs comparaison on the web.
Thanks

Not at all... just a little different in hardware. I had that firmware on my P1000N. Maybe if you check on the small print on the back of your tab, you should see P1000N... let us know.
Basically we have a few different Tab hardwares. The P1000, Euro US and etc, both GSM and CDMA versions. Latin versions P1000L / N (and maybe C as commented above). P1000L and N are the same, except P1000N does NOT have TV, P1000L has TV, 1seg like in Brazil. There is also another different hardware, the Tab with wifi only (no SIM chip).
Since P1000 is the most commonly used one, there is a lot more development going on for it... but luckyly we have HumberOS for the salvation of our latin version tabs. Just Google "xda humberos" to find his posts.
Cheers.
Yes i have the 1000N.

Yes, you loose root. Then you can just flash humberos' cf-root or voodoo lagfix kernel to get root back. Overcome is very good and stable. Just remember to replace the zImage file inside Overcome's zip file with HumberOS' kernel voodoo lagfix.

Always use original USB cable from Samsung for flashing. Don't use USB HUBs. Make sure you have a good tight USB port, make sure your Windows and USB Drivers are all 100% and close all software to run ODIN or Heimdall ALONE.

Is it a matter of repackaging the Jupiter's zip with latest zImage from first post and install via sd card with Recovery Cwm mode?

Wait for Humberto to work on it?
For CM7?
From hermes do i directly

Bring my Droid X Up To Date?

So, I've got a Droid X I am planning on giving over to a friend of mine. Its too old and I'm too busy to bother much with selling it, plus he's a good guy and his current phone is like the saddest thing ever (a half broken ZTE piece of garbage held together with tape and running like Android 1.6). I haven't messed with the Droid X in over a year, and because of its locked bootloader, I know its somewhat complicated, with "2nd init" ROMs and the like.
At this point I'm not too sure what I'm looking at with it. I goofed around last night and got it somewhat up to date, with an AOKP-ICS ROM on it. It was already rooted and I have CWM on it as well, so its not a bad starting point.
The phone doesn't have any data / phone plan attached to it at all, which is usually OK in the short term since I can get it on WiFi, but now the WiFi just isn't working. I can SCAN for WiFi networks, but when attempting to join any, the phone immediately gets kicked back off the network.
Tested it on like 3 different networks. What's weird is it was working fine last night.
I'm showing a Baseband Version of BP_C_01.09.13P and a Kernel Version of 2.6.32.9 built on August 20th, 2011.
Build version says IMM761.
Mod Version says aokp_shadow_build-39,
The CWM I have installed on the phone is only 2.5.0.8! That seems really old, but again I don't wanna update it if it'll break things
I would like to update it as much as I can but I know I need to be careful so as to avoid breaking things.
Any advice is appreciated. I planned on putting the most functional / stable ICS ROM I could find onto it, which I would imagine is a matter of some debate. Is there some really good ROM I should look at, like a "final" build of CM9 or AOKP for this phone?
I would start off by SBFing back to .602, just to get a clean start and root.
Check that everything is working then flash Recovery Using Droid 2 Bootstrapper.
I don't believe there are many Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs that are fully working.
I highly recommend Vortex Reloaded (VXR), though. It is a fully working Gingerbread ROM with excellent battery life.
From there, you can update ClockworkMod Recovery to the latest version using ROM manager.

Samsung ATT Galaxy Express (SGH-I437) Central Thread

As a long time lurker of the XDA forums, I've finally decided to get a user account become a member of the XDA community. I figured as my first post that it would make sense to start a central thread for the I437 which I have recently purchased (RIP captivate - you served me well), as this is a popular phone but somewhat of a struggle to navigate through what has been done with development without it's own subforum. As a stop-gap to getting a subforum, I will be attempting to maintain this thread so that new users of the i437 have an easier time getting into the real potential of this device.
THIS IS FOR THE US ATT GALAXY EXPRESS I437. THE I8730 IS A DIFFERENT PHONE WITH DIFFERENT INTERNALS AND DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENT
For the sake of avoiding confusion, I'm going to request that we refer to this phone simply as the i437 or the ATT Express.

It's really easy and so worth it, Odin flash the recovery on here and just flash cm kitkat+gapps. Make sure you have the updated modem, if you flash without it I believe the modem is in this thread ready to be flashed in recovery.
I nuked my persistence partition in a flash some how, :silly: anyone mind dd'ing off one for me? Its not in the recovery images. Its dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/sdcard/persistence.img

Is this all the ROMs available for this phone ? There isn't even a section for this device on the forum. I guess very few people use it ?
Is there a stock 4.1.2 rom around for the i437? I am having some issues after root: not receiving texts and the stock browser is crashing. I would just install CM, but I want to sell the phone, or give it to a family member.
Thanks you guys for the help.

I believe that there is link to the 4.1.2 rom in the really long thread on root access.
I just installed the CM11 2014-02-05 build on a i437p. I am experiencing a short battery life (i.e. 35% battery drain over night). Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just curious if anyone has Kit Kat running well yet and what they think of it.

I've been running CM11 for a while now and it is running great. I started with some nightlies a couple months ago, kept updating to different nightlies, and I am now running snapshot-M5. I would recommend starting there and keeping a backup of it before trying the different nightlies.

[Q] How to install new android on A1000L-F

Hi!
Can someone guide me little with rootting and installing new android on IdeaPad A1000L-F?
I've found a lot of guides, but none of those are for this wlan model only, I think? I would be so happy, if someone could tell me how and what can I do with this. Current android (4.1) is so outdated, that I cant stand this. And latest games don't even install on this version.
Thanks!
Edit: Got my tab rooted with one click root, but what now?
any help yet? i have same tablet and same question:silly:
Nothing yet, sorry. We'll see, maybe someone gives us a little advice soon. Hope so!
First, you'd have to port a recovery (cwm or twrp) to your device and fastboot flash it.
You'll have to use a repo for aosp, cm, miui, or other and make a rom.
The a1000l source code is available here: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/a1000_tablet?tabname=downloads
You will need that in your venture.
Unfortunately, this is just not a popular tablet. I bought one for my daughter and rooted it, but that's about as far as I will go with it.
Good luck!
It looks like recovery is already available for T, F, models. I'm not certain if this will translate over to G, L models or not:

I think this recovery is not compatible for A1000L-F 8Gb model?
Version of the A1000-F can earn. Use at your own risk, no one has tested it.

The only "custom" ROM I have found is just a modified version of stock. This means no version upgrade:

I am unable to get flashtool working from those threads and fastboot is not detecting the device in Windows or Linux. I was hoping to "fastboot boot recovery.img" in order to do some testing, but no luck right now. I'll mess around some other time...
I've got working CWM on my A1000L-F thanks to the links in this thread:

Lenovo has only released broken source so compiling 4.2+ will be too much of a hassle for an $80 tab that my daughter uses...
