Nexus vs Mytouch battery - Nexus One General

Well I bought a battery from Google so I switched to a first gen Mytouch to charge the N1 new battery. I have heavy heavy useage out of my androids. Mytouch is running 2.1 Cy and Nexus is 2.2. I chatted, surfed, and texted a lot yesterday from 7 till 11 and my battery was only down to 84%.
My question is how can en inferior phone run Android more efficiently than the N1. Is it the display that is the huge difference maker? My battery life stayed the same after I flashed to 2.2. What do you guys think?

It's because it's inferior it needs less power.
Like how smaller engined cars use less fuel.

Yeah good point but processor and display take up less but like a 4 cylinder run alot slower than a v8 mustang. thank you I guess I was so distraught about the batter that I didn't give way to logic

Battery life

I just order this phone online yesterday and was wanting to get a general consensus on the battery life on the phone... Coming from an HD2 and a nexus one before and a G1 before that I am tired of using smartphones with horrible battery life... I'm hoping to get battery life similar to that of the blackberry 9700 (I had that between my G1 and Nexus) which i was ver impressed with it's battery getting up to 2 days out of it sometimes... Is the battery anything close to that? or is it another fail for smartphone batteries?

The battery life on the Vibrant is right up there with the best of a powerful smartphone with a large screen. It will not be like the BB however.
I love the battery life on this phone I have only charged it twice sense last Thursday I seem to be getting 24 hours of normal use or more off this battery. Normal use for me is lots of testing and browsing the net I also been showing off avatar been using the battery for that.
I am very happy with the battery on this phone.

G1 to Vibrant
I too recently ordered this phone, and if the battery alone is better than then G1 I'll be happy. So far alot of good reviews. So hopefully a charger in my back pocket wont be necessary. I'll repost once I get it on Monday or Tuesday!
My nexus one got me about 4.5 to 5 hours heavy usage. This gets me 6 hours of heavy usage (straight internet). My n1 lasted a day of moderate usage, I noticed standby wasnt to great on it, but the vibrant I bet I could get 2 days light to moderate usage as I can already tell the Standby time kicks the arse off the n1....
Happy so far..

I once had a G1, worst battery ever! You will be pleased with this one!
I haven't been overly impressed with the battery life. I might have something installed that is sucking it dry but 8-10 hours is all I get from a charge (Of course this is during the initial "wow" period of getting a new phone).
Did my 1st battery test yesterdy. Unplugged it from the charger at 11am. Sittin at the throne browsing fb & twitter, email, xda (legs ended up falling aslep lol) Used camera & video for about 30 mins on the biggest resolution. Daughter was on youtube for about an hour in the car (Weird Al Yankovic's trapped in the drive thru on repeat smh). Surfing the web for a good 45 mins while wifey & daughter shopping. Watchng avatar. Get home at around 10pm and battery just now dopped to 50%. Best battery ive had since my bb8700! hopefully a higher mah stock size battery is in the work so my vibrant can go on beast mode!
Lol I had the 9700 no smart phone would have the battery life that thing has unless a new form of battery technology emerges that thing best point is to live

FYI just got mine and it is charging now. At the store I checked out the battery stats on the demo unit (in theory it has had a good deal of play time from customers) and it was at 32% and unplugged for 2 days and like 5 hours. That is damn GOOD. If we get custom kernels on this thing, that would be intense.
I think it's pretty bad. I only have exchange email on it and nothing else syncing. Even when I'm not using it much the battery is down to 70%. What's worse is that the battery meter will appear to be 100% even when it's downto 82%. I have to charge it after about 8 hours and keep in mind I have a 9700 that is my #1 for email and messaging via bbm. I could only imagine if this were my only phone. I'd probably need to find a charge after 6 hours. It's better than the hd2 however but I go 2 days without charging my blackberry so I hope that's not what you're looking for.
I will however any that for a super android device it probably had the best battery when compared to the evo, incredible, droid x etc

You can get a good 10 to 12 hours out of it with heavy usage, which is great for a smart phone .
In terms of fast, large screen smartphones, the battery life is slightly better than average in my opinion. It's a 1500mah pack as compared to the 1150mah pack in my G1. It's definitely not to the point where I would like it to be, but there isn't a phone on the market that can really provide me with that capability (unless some type of new battery tech comes out).
You can just go into your settings, then about phone and then battery usage and you'll see a breakdown of what your usage was since the last time it was plugged in charging. For me the screen is still dominating the power usage. That should be pretty typical of any large screen smartphone. Since the AMOLED is 20% more efficient than LCD it should translate to slightly better overall battery life.
Remember guys, this is also battery life with the stock kernel. I'm sure once we get a dev team working on uv/oc kernels, we'll see some significant fluctuation in the battery life, much like we saw with the N1 almost doubling battery life with the right kernel.
I have to say, my battery life has been rather mediocre at best so far. Yesterday got down to 30% in about 8 hours, and all I did was send maybe 10 text messages and make two calls. I turned off Facebook and Twitter syncing in hopes that it would help. I barely used the damn thing and it ate through the battery. It's syncing my Gmail account and two Hotmail accounts (checking every hour). I hope that I'm just not noticing using it more. In cases when I do sit down and use it heavily, battery runs down incredibly quickly. I'm rather concerned.
I believe Froyo is better on battery
Thanks for all the info guys... Hopefully the phone will be in tomorrow so I can form my own opinion *crosses fingers*
Not good. Battery lost 30% overnight in 9 hours with SetCPU set and it set to GSM Auto PRL... :-(

Conditioning is a myth... LiOn batteries don't need to be conditioned. The phone needs to be conditioned to properly report the battery, but it shouldn't be this bad.

[Q] myTouch 4G battery

Anyone know what kind of battery are they using for myTouch 4G? Battery life is everything to me and I'm not the kind of person who carries around a charger all the time. I bought an EVO 4G batterry (1700mAH) for my G2 and it's amazing. With the EVO 4G battery my G2 can last up to a whole day of heavy usage.
I know myTouch 4G is running on a 1400mAH battery but is there an extended battery like how the EVO 4G battery can fit into the G2.
1700 is the highest so far
I would expect the battery life on the Mytouch 4G to be pretty good, certainly much better than the EVO.
The processor is basically the same processor as the G2 clocked a little faster (1Ghz vs 800Mhz) and running Sense instead of Vanilla Android which would hurt the battery life, but the battery is larger 1400 ma, vs 1300 so I would expect the battery life to be close.
The G2 battery life is excellent, I consistently get over 18hrs with moderate usage and connected to WiFi a good bit of the time.
The Mytouch 4G battery is not as long as the G2's battery.
the new 1ghz snapdragon should use less battery compared to the older version since the chip size is smaller.
Today I am at over 9 hours using the phone for calls for about a third if that. Used the WiFi all day and have moderate usage.
Phone comes with decent battery life. I can tell you exact #s but it requires a battery pull and I'm currently typing on it so I don't think it would turn out so well. Lol

Can someone compare EVO battery to Hero?

So I'm looking at buying a EVO and wondering about battery life. I have a Hero and can usually make a day without charging. Stock rom, wifi on, not many calls, checking email/facebook frequently and some internet surfing is a normal day.
How will the EVO battery match up?
Thanks
When I first got my EVO the battery life sucked. I probably got 6 hours at most out of it. Now with the way it's set up it lasts well over a day, which is much longer than my Hero ever lasted.
My experience so far is Evo is much better except for calls. Calls seem to eat battery real quick.

It is the exact same battery and uses much more power(bigger screen, 4G, .....) But does have more ROMS in the future and updates always help battery life.
I had two Hero's on my plan, and now two Evo's...
The phone will eat more battery when the screen is on, and you are browsing the internet, (especially with 4G turned on), but otherwise, I seem to get better battery life than I did with my Hero's!
Rooting and flashing a ROM with a decent kernel will usually give better results.
I've had mine on today for a little over 13 hours, with full screen brightness, live wallpaper, and 4G on... I could never achieve these results before.
The hero got horrid battery life I had to carry 2 spares to last a day ...but I use my phone a ton my Evo lasts just thru the day ....

Batteryleft on my Hero projects 46.47 hours under full charge. It's my daily business phone. Running 2.4.0 from flipz. OC widget under clock to 246 when screen is off.
On my EVO, I took batteryleft off the phone. It is what it is. It doesn't charge the battery right, sometimes I'll unplug and it'll drop 3 % pts. I attribute it to the supplier wanting to limit G access, wanting to hype and spin about the "First". But it does make Iphone users quiver (mostly due to their ignorance), with the big screen and Hulu.
my wife went from a hero to a evo, and battery life appears at least as good.
as a nice bonus though, the hero battery works in the evo so you can carry that as a spare while trying it out.
My older Evo hardware 0003 used to SUCK.. Im talking 6-7 hours with medium use..
Then I got a newer 0004 hardware Evo.. I don't think it changed a DARN thing with battery, but my battery surprisingly is lasting a good 8-10 hours now..
But I don't care, I got the extended RED BATTERY from ebay, for 20.00 bucks.. Comes with a new back (not the UGLY Siedio back either, its smooth and conforms perfectly, plus it has the same feel)
Now my battery lasts about 2 days.. plus you don't even notice it bigger really and IMO since a phone is for well.. A phone and not a show off toy (even though I actually think it looks better with the bigger battery) I want to have a long battery life
** Edit, just found it

Can't believe Nexus 4 has significantly worse battery life then SGS3

Currently using both my s3 (daily driver for 6months prior) and nexus 4 while waiting for buyers to show up for the s3. Both running aokp with custom kernels and huge undervolts. My s3 as experienced for the past 6months can easily last through a full day's (12hrs) usage, running consistently more then 5 hours screen on time with 10+% batt to spare.
Given the massive hardware and software evolutions in the n4, was expecting it to outdo or at least match the batt life of the s3, of which it shares a similar battery capacity with. Much to my horror, it can barely last 75% of the s3's batt life, even after using faux's amazing kernel/app combo to uv by 150mv. I find myself scrambling for the charger outside home for the first time in ages, halfway through my work day when screen on time has barely even reached 3hrs.
I find this utterly unacceptable given how on paper everything about the nexus 4 points to a more battery friendly device:
28nm next gen snapdragon vs 32nm last gen exynos
IPS LCD is more power efficient then AMOLED esp with the common white backgrounds while surfing net
Latest qualcomm 3g/baseband chip built on power-sipping 28nm tech
android 4.2 pure google developed OS + open/documented cpu libraries vs closed source code relying on inefficient blobs
no microsd to power and constantly read from for n4 (might not be a pronounced effect though)
Kindly post your batt life experiences with the n4 and if you concur with my observations, else i'm afraid i just got bad set or a faulty battery.
I am sorry to say this but your title is stupid like you know for sure that the battery in the N4 is bad. Then after your ranting you ask people what their battery life is to see if you have a bad battery. If you saw the other threads people's battery can last up to 1 day and few hours, just depends on how you use it. I usually get 20 hours with normal use which is more than enough battery life for me. It took a while until I got my battery life to be good. It did suck before hahaha
Sounds to me like you didn't do your research.
A lot of people are having issues with undervolting on the Nexus 4. You should go back to stock on it and just let it be. It's perfectly fine all by itself. I get solid 18-24hr charge cycles with similar screen on time to what youre talking about.
The great thing about this phone is that we're able to change basically anything we want to.......but just because we can, it doesnt mean we should.
I've read on phandroid.com that Google is working on a patch that they will release for the nexus 4 that should be fixing the battery issue. Just hang on until this patch is released.

I'm getting pretty good battery life using faux's kernel.
Almost 10 hours off the charger and almost 5 hours on screen with a mixture of WiFi and hspa.

Battery Life

Am I naive in expecting insane battery life? What am I missing here? Why isn't anyone really talking about how this should be crazy amounts? Most phones are closer to 3000mah.
I know the 810 is a hog, but it's an amoled display, not 4k, the oneplus two is only 3300, moto pure is only 3000, z5 2900, note 5 is 3000 as well. I have to believe with marshmellow (fingers crossed) and 3450 with an amoled display that's only 5.7" this is going to be insane, like 2 days on light use insane???
I'm hoping for some pretty good things from the battery life, i've got the Nexus 6 currently and it lasts me a day and a half with about 4 hours screen on time ( which is fine for me in all honesty )
This has a smaller display and a bigger battery, lets not forget that " sensor hub " that will help idle time immensely if it works as advertised
+Doze
+App standby
I've got a good feeling its gonna be a goodun
and this is the main reason why im picking the 6p over 5x because i strongly believe this has to be a two day battery life, everything is lining up so very good.
I'm expecting great stand by time, but once that screen is on, battery is going to drop like a rock. This was the case with the Moto X Pure at least. I was afraid to turn on that screen, my battery stats show a straight line going down.

Since I had a Nexus 5, I won't hold out any hope for any sort of battery life.
I'll take what I can get.
Depents how efficient the display is.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A
It has a 2.5k display like most other flagships, and AMOLED is the display technology, it has nothing to do with the resolution.
Running dev Preview 3 I've gotten much better standby and battery life as a whole. While I don't expect much better life out of the box than I already have once it's tweaked with the right kernels etc it better be way better than my current gen especially to give up wireless charging....

The battery is gonna be INSANE! Huge reason why I went to the 6p ! The 6 on avg for me had 5 hours SOT so I can only imagine what this will be. I have the m9 right now and I cannot wait to ditch this thing. Battery is horrid on it
This the #1 reason I am getting this phone. The Note 5 has TERRIBLE battery for me as I'm a power user.
My S6E reminds me of my Evo 4G with WiMAX turned on. It's got to be better than the old school need to plug in everywhere feeling I have lately.

My pure has pretty bad battery life if the gpu gets used at all. Out of all the devices with the 808 in the same category the pure has by far the worst battery life for whatever reason.
The nexus p hopefully won't have as much of an issue.
Beware of radio signals... That leaks a lot too.
I like gsm endurance test as a review...moto x got 63 hours. Note 5 is a beast... So your if getting poor life on that... It's an app of signal issue. Try running off LTE and test.
I figure a good comparison is moto xpe. Stock almost, same size, qhd.
So factor in battery is 15% larger, Amoled should save 15 % (see note 5 Amoled vs moto x pure LCD) and marshmallow should save 15%. All that is being conservative. Let's say -5% for snapdragon 810 vs 808. So total 40% better than moto xpe. Which gets on average 3.5 to 4.5 sot time (ignoring the under 3 and over 6 which is usually tweaking or terrible signals)
So this should average at minimum 40% better. So at least 5 hours sot.....and max of 7?
Sounds reasonable. All of this was guessing while I await the phone

wow that really is amazing.
I'd be happy with that.
So far from all the phones I've had, The OPO on KitKat had the best battery life.
I had wifi, bt and gps on all day and I'd have around 20-50% left before I went to bed.
Lollipop destroyed that :crying:
