If you are not eligible for upgrade, you have to pay full price - EVO 4G General

...that is if you want phone now. I emailed Cust. Care about possibly getting at least the MIR, they said no to that as well. I jsut upgraded and used my upgrade in Nov 09 to get the Hero. Here is their email response to me:
This handset will launch on June 04, 2010. The line 2125551212 is
currently not eligible for any handset rebate and will become eligible
for $150.00 handset rebate as early handset upgrade eligibility in
November 2010. As this line is already getting the early handset upgrade
eligibility, so it is not possible to offer any additional credit for
the purchase of new handset.
Please wait till November 2010 to get a new handset at the online price.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused due to this.

I wanted to at least get the $100 mail in rebate but I don't even qualify for that.
With Sprint's ETf, if you cancel after 30 days and pay teh termination feed, do you have to return the phone?

Of course not!

however, I think they will charge you the prorated usage for the line.... would probably amount to about the same price still

hmm posted their cell phone number

I have a question about the upgrade... my wife wants the Evo as well but she cant get it via upgrade till Nov. Can somebody who knows the system pm me? I have an idea to get it early.

I thought they would give you the rebate if you renewed your 2 year contract?

Who is still on contract and has pre-ordered?

The reason I'm asking is because I see a lot of people pre-ordering and they say it's $199. I wanted to see if anyone was still on contract or would still be on a contract by the time the Evo comes out. I wanted to see if the people on contract were still getting the phone for $199 from BB or the shack. I know the $199 is for a $150 discount with a 2 year plan and an up-front $100 rebate.
On-contract as in "not eligible for an upgrade?" I know that RadioShack is not taking pre-orders for full retail purchases, and Best Buy is gouging the price to $600 for those not on contract. I'm going to pre-order from Sprint when they start accepting in-store (some places actually already have).

I wonder what would be the price if I tell BB that I'm contract now but I want to renew (restart my 2yr contract). Would they just take $100 off the retail price? Guess I have to go in to BB sometime tomorrow to see how this all works. Maybe I'll try the shack as well.
Can they really inflate the price that high when retail (According to sprint) is suppose to be $450? I guess Sprint will have to take my money then and I'll have to wait 10-14 weeks for a rebate.

The $100 rebate is only for new contracts and people with their 22-month full upgrade. The 12-month (non-premier) upgrade is just $75 off retail.
And yes, Best Buy can gouge all they want to.
Under Contract with TMO
I'm under contract with T-Mobile but with still 5 months left. Going to terminate the contract (only $100). Rather cough up the money than continue to use my G1 for the next five months. I want the Evo NOW.
Same here. I'm upgrading from my hero (which I got in December ) so I think your better seeing the device in a sprint store then buying it full out.
im dropping my plan to the lowest ($20/mo.) on vzw and already preordered from radio shack

Adding another line is considered a new activation therefore you would get the phone for $199.
Where is everyone getting this 600$ quote from. At my BB the guy said he "thinks its like 600" which means that he was going off the rumoured off contract price.I don't see BB raising the price of a phone higher than it's MSRP.

Oh you don't? Go to Best Buy and try to buy a Hero or a Moment off contract and enjoy paying $600 or $630, respectively!

No. You are stuck paying the full price. I am a smart one though. I had a Sprint account back in the day, left with good standing. I ran into credit issues and about a year back had to pay a deposit so I just went on my father's plan with my fiancee instead. Well, I just got my Hero in October, 2 yr contract. Called up Sprint. They told me to get the Evo in my name, new account with a new phone number. Then afterward, get my dad and transfer my Hero line into my account. I get the 2 yr new activation price for the Evo, I keep my number and I don't have to pay the ETF. Life is f-ing sweet!

Yes but I don't pay for those lines. The owner's of the lines do. I will now be on my own plan, by myself with no ties to them. This isn't the solution for everyone but I figured maybe if someone is in the same situation it may help them.
Radio Shack would not let me upgrade, because I am not eligible until June 1st for upgrade. I just went over to Best Buy and signed right up.
Also, the rep at Radio Shack was not clear as to whether or not I would get the phone on Launch day or not. The Best Buy mobile manager told me for sure that I would get it then. I wanted to try Radio Shack first, simply because of the $20 of free accessories, but hey, you win some, you lose some.
then again, in the case of the Evo, I think we all win
It's like they timed this specifically for Palm Pre Premier owners... Friggin awesome.

If you go through sprint, you'll probably have to renew your 2 yr contract so that it starts up at June 4th, or whenever you get the EVO. You won't get the $150 upgrade discount, but you'll get the $100 mail-in-rebate though.
I believe this is what you'll go through because this is what I'm thinking will happen for me. I too bought the Hero in Nov. 09. But in the past when renewing a contract, Sprint has always just restarted my contracts when I wanted a new contract.
Do to the retail cost that BB and the shack might, I'm going to go through sprint, but not the sprint store. If you go through the sprint store, you'll have to pay the $36 activation fee. Most of the phones that you buy online through Sprint, don't charge an activation fee, so I'm thinking (hoping) this will be through for the EVO when they start selling them online.
I'm still on contract and pre-ordered with best buy, was quoted $199

Samsung Epic 4G $199.99 on Amazon.com

EDIT: The phone seems to be back in stock online. Still says ships in 8-9 days.
Amazon.com just got the EPIC 4G on their site for preorders, it's $199.99 with new contract, or $499.99 without any service. Best deals I've seen anywhere. If these don't sell out, I bet it'll hit $150 by september 1st. This is just great if you are a new customer on Sprint.

Kinda blows if you're an existing one though...
Does sprint allow you to cancel and then sign up as a new contract? Because of the pro-rating of their cancellation fees, it would be significantly cheaper to get the discounted Amazon phone (even better if it follows the other Galaxy S phone pricing) than it would be to buy the unsubsidized Epic.

You mean cancel your current sprint plan, then take the amazon.com epic deal with a brand new contract? I think you can do that. However like you said, there is the prorated early termination fee, and you also need to consider that you would of course lose your current phone number. You could of course also switch to a prepaid account with some other carrier for a week or so though, and just port your number over a lot, but that could be a bit risky/flawed.
If you wanted to buy a cheap amazon epic 4g then cancel right after though, you'd pay a ton, amazon.com would hit you with early cancel charges, as would sprint.
If you cancel your contract, you have to wait 90 days before you can qualify for new customer pricing on devices.

Yes, I meant the first part. Cancel my sprint contract (and risk losing the #), then rejoin sprint on the cheaper (possibly much cheaper) amazon phone deal. Switching phone numbers isnt always a bad thing.
$199 wow! Way to stick it to Wirefly and their cheapo $10 off price.
I'm currently on the $30 SERO plan, and converting to either a 5-line EPRP, or a 5-line corporate discount plan. I guess there's no way in hell I can do either one thru Amazon.

Aha, thanks for the definitive answer. Could a family member qualify immediately? We don't share a last name.
Oh man Amazon is annoying, is there any way to see the final review order page without submitting the credit check info? I'd assume they don't actually perform the credit check until you submit the order, but I'd rather not take that risk, especially just to see a check-out price! I just want to see if they charge taxes and activation.

It has to go under someone else's social security number. That's all.
It says "currently unavailable" now...
this should be the sprint price for it, no mail in rebate.
I'm kinda regretting reserving through Radioshack now!
$250 + taxes comes out to around $270. I'm assuming Amazon will provide Prime shipping and next day shipping being around $20 bucks.
Can't refund the $50 deposit i put for the pre-order through Radioshack either. :|
How much is Sprint's early contract termination fee?
im trying to buy it on amazon. apparently there's no option to add a new line to an existing account. if there is can some1 point me out to it. all im seeing are the options to buy it for 500 as an existing customer or 199 as a new customer

radioshack has 10 dollar off coupons, so its 240 + tax. I would do amazon, but with 2 phones, it will be a hassle, so I'm doing radioshack for ease of return if there are any problems.

From what I was told at the Sprint store, its a total of $240 early termination, or $10 a month, for each of the 24 months of the 2 year contract.
The longer you have the contract, the lower the termination fee is.
Does Amazon charge an activation fee of $36 per line? Also has anyone purchased from them before? Just wondering if they would actually ship the phone on 8/31 and if the return policy is any good? Thanks in advance.

Off Contract rebate

I just got off the phone with a sprint rep and she informed me that even If I pay full price for the phone I still qualify for the $100 rebate since it’s a manufacturing rebate. I thought that rebate only applied to new or upgrading customers. Now I know she WORKS for sprint and she should know the correct answer, but I have such little faith in them. Does anyone here know if that information is correct? The reason I ask is because I was thinking about ordering it from Amazon, but if I'm still eligible for the $100 rebate I might as well get it from sprint since I would be paying the same price anyway, and getting a $100 back in a couple months.
Since it’s a manufacturing rebate, should it matter where I purchased the phone from to get the rebate?
look at the rebate form. It will say what the conditions to it are, and it usually says with a two year contract. If the rebate goes to Samsung then maybe, but usually they are a generic Sprint rebate where you check off what phone you have.
example: http://shop.sprint.com/assets/pdfs/en/promotions/mir_091110.pdf
I thought everyone was elidgible for the $100 mail-in, but the instant $150 or $75 was dependant on your contract? Could be wrong..

I am at my 1 year 75 doller upgrade and wondering if I am entitled to the $100 mir. if i sign a new 2 year contract.. I am confused because I have one sprint store tellng me you only get it with a 2 year 150 upgrade and I have another store telling me you get it on a 1 year upgrade as long as you sign a new 2 year contract... Who is correct?
If I am reading correctly it seems you get a $100 mir on a the 1 year $75 upgrade signing a new 2 year contract..

Don't listen to anything a Sprint rep says. That's one thing I learned when I was with Sprint under 30 days with the EVO and when I emailed them asking why the tv-out feature is removed from the Epic 4G. I swear they have apes working there. I sent a detailed email about what tv-out does on the other Galaxy S devices, and the reply I got from Sprint was informing me of Sprint TV. What a bunch of fools

It's not a plan, the term of the contract with VZW is "1 Month". But, it forces you into a 6-month "contract" with Wirefly, despite the fact that there's no discount or subsidy on the Xoom, and data is month-to-month with VZW. If you downgrade or drop the month to month data before the 6 months are up, Wirfely will charge you an ETF.
"Q. If I place a pre-order reservation, when will I receive my tablet?
A. We will begin shipping orders on the official Verizon Wireless launch date for the MOTOROLA XOOM tablet, which is currently February 23, 2011 but subject to change. If you order additional devices (such as with a family plan), we will hold your entire order until your MOTOROLA XOOM is ready to ship."
I dont like the subject to change part . Was hoping for a solid date. I would only order from wirefly if you were afraid it would sell out but I dont see that happening. Its unsubsidized and you are forced into a contract when you can just cancel from any other place. I wouldnt order from them

Previous BB leaked ads, or was the the costco ad, had them being sold on the 24th.. but in stock as early as the 20th.. or the 22nd. I don't recall exact dates, but I do recall that they were going to be in store 2 days early at least. So the 23rd would be a shipment date to get them to consumer by the 24th. Wirefly probably gets them the 22nd.. ships them out the 23rd..

no, getting the xoom from wirefly would probably be the same as getting it anywhere else except the pre-order price gurantee. I dont know if other stores are offering that though i doubt the price of the xoom will change in 30 days unless it epic fail of a launch.

You are correct. The chance of a price change in 30 days would require virtually no sales. Though there is alway the super low chance that iPad2 could have some surprise up their sleeves that forces the XOOM to change its game.

This tells me you only need to use your one month and not the 6 month deal. Everything on wirefly is pretty much pre-written for cell phones which the xoom isnt. Of course Ill try to verify and double check. I suggest not canceling the contract though for that first month. That 1 month is required for wirefly. Like I said though i will contact them and verify
Cancelled my preorder, went and preordered at Best Buy. It was super easy.

wish i had seen this when i got home o well.. but the good thing.. scroll down and look at shipping
"Ships May 18 FREE "
I'd consider it, but I'm gonna go to Best Buy in a few and preorder it there so I can get it at Launch. Looks like May 18th is the official day, woohoo!
Yep, same here. Order submitted through sprint's website.....came on here.... /facepalm
Oh well. Doesn't look like ordering from Sprint directly gives you the google wallet credit either....
/crossing my fingers that the devs can S-off this beast htcdev unlock = lame
my understanding is they usually ship a day or so early for pre orders but considering the shape my evo is in i wont mind waiting.. i should post pics its a frankenstien.. no volume buttons power button stolen from an optimus.. been thru 2 glasses ( on its 3rd now ) and 2 lcds.. wifi antenna is broke off the board.. but for 2 years its served me good and taken quite a beating.. i wont make same mistake as last time ill be getting an otter box
Darn, already placed my pre-order with Sprint direct before I saw this.
On the phone with them now to either cancel or get a $50 credit.

from the order status email "If you pre-ordered an HTC EVO™ 4G LTE, we’ll send you an email the second it ships and do our best to get it to you on or before the national launch."
I'm eligible to upgrade June 01 and can't pre-order, even if the phone ships after that date *cries*

Ya thought about it, but I also have that Best Buy $50 off if I upgrade my phone in 2012 with them (forgot the name of the promotion) plus the buyout cost so that's like $100 total. I can wait.

Sprint offered to cancel the pre-order rather than issue a credit. I ended up letting the order process. Wasn't sure I could stay on the same plan via WireFly. We're on a better plan than they have listed.
Side note... The agent in sales support insisted that the phone would ship in a couple of days. I ended up talking to a supervisor who agreed that probably wasn't the case but indicated it would likely ship and be received prior to the official launch on the 18th. Not sure that I'm all that confident in that statement either. We'll wait and see.

Yea, I even called into verify my shipping address. As he started processing the order I saw this post. Doh.. They couldn't cancel it for me after that. Rep said I would have to wait to receive and then return it.

I ended up sticking with it, since I had no choice. And I prolly would have stuck with it if had an option. I have dealt with wirefly in the past, over a mail in rebate for parents. They lost the form, so i called to ask wirefly for another. Their response was no you are SOL, we can't send you another form. So there went 100$.
After that experience, I am a little more hesitant to believe anything on their site. i.e. screwing up my current plan by ordering with them.
I also get a 25% discount, so if I go to Best Buy I will lose that? I don't understand why.

No it doesnt, I have always had a corporate discount and have ordered my last 2 phones from Wirefly keeping the same plan and discounts.
Sero plan with wirefly?
I'm thinking of preordering with wirefly. My Sero premium plan will remain?
This way I can save my $50 bestbuy credit for possible purchase of siii in Q4
