nobody knows before coming tomorrow..

We'll get the real scoop this week...

I've read that Froyo won't be covered in the I/O until Thursday. Tomorrow is supposed to be the set-top box and some other stuff.

Well all we know is that it will be announced at IO... that doesnt mean released.

i hate this thread........all negative thinkers..... no one's blood group is B+ ....

Who cares? It'll almost certainly be leaked within the month regardless.

So it looks like they will be talking about the juicy parts of Android on Thursday. Here's the program guide guys.

I seriously crapped my pants when I read the title of this thread; I'M A JIT JUNKIE I NEED IT. I haven't found any other articles about it yet.

lilH3rmit send that tweet right now

www.github.com/android

the reason why they think it's june is because Adobe said that Flash 10.1 will be in android in june.
Then Google said that Flash will be in 2.2. Google never gave any date for 2.2/froyo. Hell they could even not announce it tomorrow since it's actually not known what the keynote is. Though obviously they'd be insane not to lol
Most likely 2.2 will be announced tomorrow with an SDK and will come out as an OTA to the Nexus/Droid and other phones starting in June

Sprint to release Android 2.1 update for Hero and Moment 'over the coming weeks'

http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/03/...ndroid-2-1-update-for-hero-and-moment-over-t/
If you recall, about a month ago Sprint tweeted that it was working on delivering Android 2.1 upgrade for its HTC Hero and Samsung Moment in early Q2 this year. An optimistic guess would be April, right? Funnily enough, Techie Buzz has heard that two eager customers managed to squeeze a more precise date out of Sprint over a phone call -- end of March or even March 26th. Don't go reaching for that champagne just yet, though -- a self-proclaimed Sprint employee shared a recent internal memo on XDA-Developers forum, revealing that it's "actively working on having the Android 2.1 platform available to our Hero and Moment customers over the coming weeks," and that "more information coming in April." Oh Sprint, you do love playing with our little minds, don't you?

just because it's posted on Engadget today does not mean its recent news.
On average, Engadget can be 12 hours late from the source when it comes to news originating from ppcgeeks, sprintusers, xda, howardforums, etc. I'm not surprised some stuff leaks through their newswatchers from time to time.
We appreciate you posting this up for the people that havent seen it, but dont expect a standing ovation...

I heard April, June, and July....all from "creditable" sources. I don't know what to believe
....at this point I am just making good on "what we have" and counting my blessings/creating some good stuff
The "real" 2.1 update is going to suck eggs anyway, until the devs here get a hold of it and make it right.
ANY date that you hear that isnt directly from sprint is inccorect. We dont have a date, other than second quater wich has just begun.

Oh, there are plenty of dates "directly from Sprint" being tossed around. I don't belive those, either.
The date I'll believe is the morning I log on to this forum and see a post saying "Holy ****! It's out! Danger! Don't install yet or you'll brick your phone!"
This will be followed by eight thousand posts saying "Just installed official Sprint 2.1 and now my phone is bricked. Please help?"
THAT'S when I'll believe it's really out.

Sprint techs aren't much better than the guy who makes up his own "news releases" to post on his blog. Sprint tech is the equivalent to a cashier at a supermarket, except they get prompts that tell them what to do.
It came out June 35th, 2008...duh
people should stop it with the sprint release threads lol...we already have 2.1 here at XDA.thanks to the devs....lol...why yall trippin bout sprint releasing theirs.lol

Because when the "official" release comes, then the devs will be working with raw materials that have all the bugs worked out.
Personally, I think the official release is coming soon, and the devs are already working with it, but that's just a gut feeling. It would be cool to know for sure...
This just in... any release from Sprint is going to suck compared to what the devs here have given us already... we now resume our regularly scheduled awesomeness of dev ROMs

Please before you start yet another thread about when the update is coming, follow the link in your reference article. If you would have, then you would have seen that this was referring to the hero in the UK and not the sprint hero.

Probably mid-June
The official release sounds like it's going to be June but as Cyanogen pointed out on Twitter yesterday, Froyo source is already tricking into AOSP which means between now and release, CM will have more and more Froyo features.
there is a beta, right?
Engadget says they got a beta of both 2.2 and adobe's 10.1 flash player on their demo phone. If Adobe and google are sending these out, someone is going to dump the ROM and it will be available here. I'm itching for some frozen yougart...

So... you have sole rights to speculate about the release date? That's all anyone here is doing, there is not official or even leaked word about the date from anyone in the know. It's just based on Adobe's June release for Flash 10.1.
If someone posts a thread about the release, feel free to complain to them for double-posting but not the rest of us who are just helping the people that don't know how to search.
