Hiding apps? - Hero CDMA General

Is there a way to disable the visability of any given application in our menu of applications?
I like the boobs butts and babes application but get tired of my phone turning into a play ground for these people who need to make a call. Enough said.

I use apps organizer instead of the tray. If the tray gives the ability to categorize and hide apps, I will go back, but till then I will stick with apps organizer.

I was wondering the same thing as the OP. I don't need my app list cluttered by icon packs for Bettercut. Thanks, I'll try this out.

Let me know how that program works for you.. I saw some of the reviews with the link and think maybe its not what im looking for.

As I recall that app doesn't actually remove it from the tray, just makes you put in a password to launch it.

Delete a Program Shortcut

Just a heads up if no one knew... Instead of going through the system setting to delete a program, just highlight the icon of THAT game/APP/program and drag to the garbage at the bottom and hold there. You will get a "drop to uninstall" option and vua-la... hope that helps...
The thing is that that only works with apps that we downloaded ourselves. Most of wanna get rid of the apps that came preinstalled. (Which can only be done with root)

Wow, what great timing. I don't mean to hijack your thread haha.
If you don't want to uninstall apps but you don't want to see them in the drawer, then the the newest version of LauncherPro can help (if you already use it)! I literally just updated like 10 minutes ago and it has a feature to hide shortcuts from the app drawer! Best feature evaaaaaar.

App Hider via Dialer App

Good Morning,
I am after a certain type of app but I am struggling to find something that suits my needs and I was wondering if anyone here can point me to a good app.
I am looking for something where I can hide an app from my App Tray and launch it via the phone dialer by typing a certain code.
So to recap I do not want anyone using my phone to be able to see this app. I don't want and password protection or fake error message I want it completly hidden and only available through the dialer.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Max
Try Wave Launcher.... that might be what your after?
Thanks for the reply but thats not what I am after. That is just a fancy launcher where as I want to completly hide an app and only be able to launch it through the dialer.
anyone else have any ideas?
The only app i've heard of doing anything like this is Shady SMS, but that just allows you hide certain contacts conversations. I've never seen anything else similar..

Try Hide It Pro it give you the ability to hide pics, videos, and apps. I believe this is exactly what you are looking for. It installs as a cute little app called "Audio Manager" which you can configure to actually function properly. There is a secret "button" press to get you to a keypad for a passcode. Enter your passcode and your in.

This package looks perfect but its refusing to list my installed applications :-(
I once had an app like this, but can't find it now.
The only app that I've encountered that can do this is Lockdown Pro but it can only hide itself. I hope someone can make an app like this or maybe I'll try it myself when I graduate.

[Q] It seems my Samsung tablet was hit by some kind of malware, how to check?

The symptom is, each time I switch on my tablet, I receive a notification in lower right corner promoting something like lucky draw, game, etc. If I click on the notification, it automatically starts downloading apk. The apk is always named like yyyymmddxxxxxxxxxxx.apk. I never run those apks, I guess they are not friendly. How can I check which app I installed is doing this?

First check what you have installed recently. Could be one of those apps give spam notifications. I saw something similar on my bro-in-law phone and that was because he installed some kind of "enhancement" program to make his phone run more efficient (it didn't help bytheway).
Also, since you didn't say what OS you're running, 4.0+ has the option to disable notifications when you go to settings>applications>app name. If you find its an app you need, then that might help.
If you thinks its beyond this, then install lookout or norton from the market.
It's not malware, they're called push notification ads. Just download "Ad Blocker" (root required) from the market and it will tell you which app(s) is doing this. You can also choose to delete it from within the app.
Pretty handy.

I don't have it now, I will load it when I get it next time.
However I have the list of apps I installed because I sent it to the author of push detector. How can I send it to you? I just don't want to post it here.
I have another finding, which seems odd to me: I set the home page of chrome to be blank, and I double checked that, but each time I open the browser it always opens a search page with a lot of informations (looks like a portal but I don't like it). How can I know which app replaces my home page with such rubish?
Is it possible the 3G provider does this kind of things? (notification ads and home replacement)?

No, your network provider would have nothing to do with push notification ads or homepage replacement. And as for setting your homepage in Google chrome, are you talking about the desktop version? Because I don't believe you can make that selection on the mobile version, unless I'm missing something?
BTW, you can send that list to me in a PM if you'd like.

Try this app, it will tell you every app that has a shady ad network and you can delete it. A friend of mine had an app that was creating a ton of shortcuts all over her home screens.

In Chrome settings you can set your home page. But it seems it's the 3G provider that replaces the home page for me.
I will send you the app list. Thanks.

Slide Aside, Q Slide and q memo. Good work LG!

Hello guys! The first thing that positively surprised me the first time I used my gpad was the improvement given by LG software.
In particular Slide Aside(too freeze an app) Q Slide (kind of multi windows experience) and quick memo are very good. How can I the same feature on other devices (like my galaxy s4, where samsung software are only garbage).
Any third part software?
Thanks

I don't know... I personally find slide aside and qslide kind of worthless. What I find useful is the built in samba server over wifi - now that's useful.
not all the program have a real resume function, so I need to find something similar for my smart phone. It's all depending on a how you use the phone
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
I guess I'm not clear how using qslide is all that much different than holding home and switching tasks that way. I mean I guess qslide may prevent the garbage collector from killing an app before you are ready... but I've never seen that be an issue in any practical use since it doesn't clean up right away.
Now, one thing that I stumbled upon today that is really nice is when you copy text, a widget comes out with all of your recent copy's! Now That is Really Handy! Now, how to get back to it once it disappears...

Guess it's just on the stock rom. I'm using mahdi-rom and its not an option. Guess I could install am app to that, if I need it.
I'm sure there are decent apps out there, I was just impressed that LG would include something so useful that does require some technical knowledge. It requires you to \\<ip> and login with a provided username/pw.

Anywhere that you're going to enter text, press and hold the screen. There will be two options, Paste, or Clip Tray. Clip Tray will get you everything you've copied.
It also comes up in a menu when you highlight a word, for example when copying, it should give an option for Clip Tray as well

[Q] Default Apps not working?

Whenever I've clicked on a phone number to call via Google Maps, it would always show up that defaulted apps and ask me what i wanted to use.
Everytime it pops up, i keep clicking "Always" for the default dialer. I thought it would set it as default, but when i had to look up a business to call their place, that "Default Apps" keep popping up. Is this in any way connected to Samsung Hubs like how screen Rotations was related to samsung hubs removal?
Is there a way to fix this? I don't want to have to click it again while driving.

I tried it myself and it went right to the dialer without a pop up. What apps is it asking you to choose from? More of a work around than a fix, but... If you do not use the other apps, can you delete them? That way you shouldn't see the pop up?

There were two, one a dialer and the other one is the Lookout. The one with the Lookout always ask to scan before dialing out. Don't get why it keep asking that.
EDIT: i think the same thing happen to the IE (Chrome) when it asked til i removed Chrome and it doesn't ask anymore. haven't tried it with the youtube yet.

Well. You are probably aware, but lookout is your security/antivirus app, so it makes sense that it scans.
Unfortunately I do not have it installed so I cannot comment on how it is suppose to act.

That not the problem. What i meant is that the default doesn't work. It always ask, even when i select "Always use as Default". I had assumed that from that, it'll always use the apps i selected as a default, but for some reasons, it isn't working.

I installed Lookout and was able to reproduce your experience. That might be the way lookout works. As a security app, it gives you the chance to scan everything before executing. OR It could just be a bug.
One thing is for sure... Lookout is the cause of your grief. You can play around with the Lookout settings, but in the end, you may have to choose what is more important to you.
