I agree instead of undercutting another chef, why don't you try something new? Just a suggestion.

I didn't undercut anybody. I spoke directly to Hector and obtained his permission to post this up before posting it.
On a side note, I felt my post would be easier for other's to read and use, since Hector had only posted a paragraph and a link to zenulator's original Hero ROM thread. He's, since then, copied info from zenulator's post and fixed his post up.

No worries, Spencer. I can understand how it could seem like I was overstepping my boundries on this one.

Is there any way you can get rid of the background image on the icons? To be honest they look like the xPhone and takes away from the Sense UI, which is crisp and clean.

when uploading roms, i suggest using multiupload..
rs gives users a maximum of 10 downloads before killing the link..
just a fyi

wi-fi not working.

WOW. This looks mighty nice. I wish I wasnt on vacation still and could flash to this. Nice work mang!

Nice looking rom. Not as functional as I need it to be to take it's place of my everyday rom, but it's still nice to look at.

Just tried your Rev2 and I like it! It's quick and I haven't found a problem yet. Will bt it to my car radio on the way home. The icons are different than I am used to but they are growing on me...sort of Ipod Touchish. Good job!

It appears as though your extra downloads aren't signed...at least that is the message I got when I tried to flash.

Can I get rid of just the top curtain?

I found a cab to remove top and bottom curtain and I liked the look but in the music player on touchflo when you click on library you cant see the other icons which are white on white with no bottom curtain.
So I need a fix for that or a cab for no top curtain only.
Thanks

Very good point - I'm surprised that I didn't think of saying this myself; however, he may have not known who developed it in which case he should not have even posted it without passing it by one of the Mod's first to make sure it wasn't Warez or something (unless he did in which case he should have given credit or just posted a link. Thankfully it wasn't. Anyways, he wasn't asking for donations for the app or anything and we all know now where the app came from thanks to above post.
By the way, the above post (up a few anyways) which shows where the app originated from is a great thread for TF3D users. WOW.

looool, I was just downloading the Pancake rom because it seemed stripped down. I am going to wait for you to finish uploading...lol
A completely stripped UI is exactly what I want.
download link is up.

ok, first off, id like to thank damageless, gbhil, bikcmp, darchstar, flipzmode. JsChiSurf, and the rest of the xda & android community.
This rom is based off of Pancake, which is also based off of damagecontrol. I dont have a name for it, so if youd like, send me some suggestions.
i made this rom to suite my own needs. i stripped all of the useless apps (useless to me)
removed:
All htc widgets except Clock and Weather.
All Sprint apps including VVM
GSD.apk
Fieldtest.apk
Flickr
HtcFacebook
Facebook
Learnmore
Device Self Service
Ringtones
amd some others i cant think of right now
the purpose of this is to basicly have a clean setup for anyone to mess with, to add their own apks and such.
I have added the white taskbar theme by JsChiSurf. Overall its a nice clean fast rom.
I dont know if ill be frequently updating this rom. if i get enough people that like it, sure why not.
Well with all that said and done, here goes:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1q2wdjumzy2
Let me know of any bugs you find and ill try to update, as i use this on my own phone.
i take no credit for anything. i didnt create the rom i just deleted and added things.
if you like the rom and want to add suggestions go ahead i also wouldnt mind donations, although i know the work isnt mine, i still took the time out to post this and make it how i want it. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs...=PP-DonationsBF:btn_donateCC_LG.gif:NonHosted

lol, maybe you shoulda done some md5checksums before accusing people of stealing work. I'm not ripping on you, it was an honest mistake, but it really hurts when you tell someone else they stole your work without doing any self checks.
keep it open..more variety doesn't hurt. not sure why everyone gets so worked about who did what, etc., esp when you gave credit where it was due. xda is a developer community i thought building off other peoples work and sharing your own is a part of being in a developer community.

Porting 2.2 Froyo

I know it shouldnt be in this Section.
But this is the most viewed section by developers and gets the most attention so i posted it here.
Well like many of us were just waiting for someone to port 2.2 to our Heros. And I went to the G1 section to see how the development on porting 2.2 Froyo to the G1 was going, and their 63% done with it. Damn!
Check it out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686105
What they have working:
30sec Boot / 1min first boot
CM5 Base
Froyo Laucher
Jit
Radio (3G/Data/Phone)
Browser
Froyo Google Apps
Native LEDs
Native SD (Only works without EXT)
Twitter including Sync
SetCPU
3D animations
Superuser Permissions
Widgets
WiFi
GPS
Sound
Bluetooth
Tethering (Built-In)
Not working:
Camera/Camcorder
It says they mixed the SDK with the Nexus OTA update.
Can someone do this for us!
We really need Damageless and Flipz!!
If you have their number call em up!!! Lol
Word.
10chars
Why didn't you post this in our current Froyo 2.2 port's thread? No need to make a new thread when you can just post in the current thread where the people that are working on it are already reading.... Good info though
This shouldn't be in this section.
We have people doing similar here.. Though they dont announce everything they get workings. Some are also busy doing other things.
My guess if we wanna see froyo on the hero we need to look at toast for his coding and a his .29 kernel, and darch and quietcblongs for there understanding of AOSP roms.

[No ROM here, just instructions] Porting CM6 from Hero

So, I just grabbed the Hero port from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722122. And then, I did the following -
1) loaded into dsixda's kitchen and selected 'Advanced' and 'port'
2) used freshly compiled AOSP ROM with freshly compiled kernel as base for device (using Android Builder - link in sig)
3) replaced 'heroc' with 'desirec' in updater-script & build.prop
4) changed several lines in build.prop to change 'Sprint' into 'Verizon' & 'Hero CDMA' into 'Eris'
5) renamed 'init.heroc.rc' in ramdisk to 'init.desirec.rc'
6) copied 'desirec-keypad.kcm.bin' & 'desirec-keypad.kl' from planejane into appropriate locations
7) copied 'sensors.desirec.so' from planejane to appropriate location
Seriously. That's all that I did.
What works:
wifi
camera (no preview)
bluetooth (well it turns on, I don't have anything to test)
Market (after the Google bits are installed)
phone calls
3G
touch screen
buttons
lights
SMS
What doesn't work:
MMS (couldn't send)
OC won't work because the kernel I used doesn't have it.
This is really nice for no more work than it takes to port. It kind of hurts me, because I like the idea of compiling from source so much better...
I don't want to step on any toes of people who are doing real work, since I don't plan on maintaining this ROM. (Well, I didn't really do much of anything anyway!) So, hence the instructions above. Roll your own, if you want.
nice work has anybody tried this yet? i can guinea pig if not.
Edit:
Nevermind

Hey, I just provided the instructions... If I were going to post the ROM, I would make sure it's ok with darchstar. That's just me though. Since it's all open source, it may not matter one way or another.
So, yeah, it's ok with me! I haven't sent my build to anyone yet, so if you ported it, well, you ported it!
Thanks for asking. That's the way to be.
I do have one request though... If you make any more changes, can you post them too? And not just - "v53 - fixed thingy". I really like to see what people are doing, so I can learn how they did it. That's purely a request. You are in no way obligated.

Cool deal then. The next thing that I was going to do was change the "Sprint" in res/xml/eri.xml in the framework-res.apk to say Verizon. I had no idea of where to do that until last night when it was mentioned in the irc channel by andrew8806 & conap.
This is really good build. I'm using it right now as my everyday ROM. It will be good for this to be an option for people. It's just not a part of my plan... Muhahaha.
Rock on.
very informative, thanks for editing the title accordingly. =) don't need anymore flames rising. And also thanks for making sure to add the ASK DARCHSTAR part in the OP beings that there was already almost a issue between him the heroc community and one of the eris forum members(you already know who) due to a mixup.

If you are using dsixda's Kitchen, you can go to Advanced and then '15'. It will expand the boot.img out into a folder called BOOT-EXTRACTED, and there's a folder in there that is the contents of the ramdisk and the kernel. Be sure to build the boot.img back after making changes and before building the ROM.
This explains it -

I also find the G1 Android Development forum quite interesting. Start at the oldest posts and come forward. There's a lot of good stuff in there, and there's no telling how much I've missed by just skimming the subjects for interesting things.
There's a lot to learn. It takes time.

Well done! Did you have to do anything that I did not list in the instructions in this thread? Share?
Honestly, it's real tempting to take yet another detour and make a plugin for the kitchen that will do the steps in the OP (CDMA Hero --> Eris) and maybe another one that's Eris --> CDMA Hero.
I don't think it will take much time to do, and it will make Hero ports even easier for people who don't have the time to dig into things as well as they probably should if they are going to be a dev. (There is a downside to making all of this easier to do...)

The Official Thunderbolt ROMs and Kernels Listing (DEAD)

Thank you very much everyone for all your support. This iteration of the listings is now dead as I'm moving onto Version 2 which will continue the evolution of the listings. I hope you all continue to help give ideas, suggestions, and what not to the new version much like you have with this one.
The new version is here:

See you all there.
Mods.... you can close this now.
Nice compilation. The only reason I am not complaining about a "repost" is because you provide much more detail than the current sticky
I think this is useful. It would also be nice to include MD5 sum of the files for those who wish to verify before flashing. This may require a lot of effort to maintain though.
*EDIT* and at this point all of the ROMs are based off of sense, but once the RIL issues are sorted out and AOSP ROMs start dropping then it would also be nice to have a line for each ROM stating if it is Sense-based or AOSP-based.

I did not see any other post that listed all of the current roms/kernels here. Either way, thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'm sure all the newbs will appreciate it greatly

Certainly once AOSP ROMs rather if they are Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream, Honeycomb, Chocolate Cake, Sherbet, Fudgecicle, Peanut Brittle, Oreo Blizzard, Sundae, or heaven forbid... Apple Pie... then I will update the listing to reflect that.
Great post OP! The only thing I have to add is Virus ROM 3-1 version (nonsense). I believe it's the same as 3 but with all sense elements removed.

Thank you very much everyone for your kind words. I certainly plan on keep this updated as well. I might not update it right away whenever a new ROM/kernel comes out but it will be done. As far as this thread getting a sticky I'll leave that up to the mods/admins here if they want to do that or not. I'd love for it to happen but in the end (sadly) its not my call.

PM Captainkrtek he's one of the senior mods @ XDA and request this be stickied. He's a good guy can't imagine he wouldn't grant the request.
Bookmarked this link for now. I hope you can keep it up for as long as possible.
Great thread thanks!
