How to reg-edit Cookies Home Tab, Sense - Windows Mobile

Hello.
I'm now on my second attempt at cooking roms and i've (i think) moved on a little from where i was.
I'm using OndraSters amazing visual kitchen.
I'm cooking 235653 XIP and SYS into a 1.75 Korean ROM using the packages from the new 02 1.72 ROM. I know this may not sound tough to some of you here, but it's taken me ages just to sus out a few simple things.
The position fix was fun as i'd never heard of it until i booted the ROM for the first time.
My question is, how do i go about cooking in cookies home tab? I turned the CABs in to an EXTs and i've seen a few tips about editing the registry before i cook it into the ROM, but how do i get it to look how i want on first boot?
My thoughts about ROMS in general is that i could add all cab/ext files i need and just export the reg file to be cooked in. I bet its not that simple, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time

dump a rom and reconstruct it

hy all. i have a problem (wish): i want to install a clean rom ( i have it allready) and i want to customize it with the programs that i want to, and then, to save this rom (i supose that i have to dump it and reconstruct it) exactly with my settings/applications/etc. can i do that? if I can, how? thx alll.
When you customize your polaris on the device itself, it doesn't change the ROM on it. So dumping it will not give you a new ROM. You'll have to change the ROM on the desktop, and upload it afterwards. There are a lot of topics about ROM building.
ok. thx. i will go then to that topics. thx.
Yes but the problem is that all those posts are about porting a 6.1 rom from another device to polaris.
Now that we have a 6.1 rom how exactly do we cook it and flash it back?
Here's my problem: I have the PTG 6.1 rom, but I want to replace the CF2 with CF3.5 and replace TTN6 with TTN7, and flash it back.
I already have Kitchen 1.3, extracted the 'RUU_signed.nbh' and a dump of 03_OS.nb.payload.
Now, where do I go from here?. I want a rom that's exactly the same as the official one but with the changes I mentioned above.
I'm a complete noob at this cooking rom issue. I've read lots of threads but I've only gotten more confused about all the XIPs, SYSs, OEMs and stuff, and I think the same happens with other users.
I know that some of the actual cookers were once in the same place I'm now, so can someone point me out the rigth way and if possible post a detailed tutorial on how to extract, cook and flash back a rom on POLARIS, me and lots of users would apreciate it a LOT.
Second That Thought.
What would be nice to see (if possible) the following,
as an example:
1. Download Polaris ROM Kitchen v1.3
2. Extract to c:\Kitchen
3. Copy your ROM image (*.nbh) to X:\
4. Run command
...20. Install Package (M2D.cab) by doing the following ...
21. Recombine the ROM by doing the follow commands ...
22. Flash your ROM to your Polaris
23. Hard Reset and verify that the package you installed is in your ROM
Congrats
A step by step like that, which walks a user though the process of a demo ROM and a demo *.cab for learning would be FANTASTIC!!!
Thanks in advance to whoever can help us out!
Juxtyce
bump.
Any help from the professionals out there?
Look here:
1. .Net2.0 => .net3.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2685138&postcount=22
2. replace the ttn.cab file in the folder "\kitchen.work\Build\OEM\OEMAPPS" with the TomTom7 cab. If it don't have the same name, rename the new cab or edit the file 'config_AP.txt' in the same folder
hope it will help you I managed it this way.
P.S. I didn't change the XIP as mentioned in the given thread. See following posts
I will dump the wm6.1 rom for you guys, and provide you with a kitchen with some packages you can use.
I will do so for all available languages that is available with official wm6.1
But,that is gonna be quite time consuming, and I hope that you understand that I ask this in return:
Any small donation for the time I use on that will be of help.
I dont say that its required, not at all. I am not doing this for money.
But the number of hours I spend on this is getting pretty high.
I will do this project either you donate or not.
cheers
thank you a lot itje. can you make in romanian also?
dunno if it's the good topic to post but let's try.
I see many fantastic people cooking excellent roms (i wish i could do the same...), and, in those roms, a lot of softwares.
Isn't it possible to just have a rom with the bare minimum?
and seperate cabs to install what you want?
for example, manilla 2d is cool, but many people like spb mobile shell better, so it's wasted memory.
May be i'm just wrong, don't understanding how it all works, so plz explain to me !

There is a large choice of ROM's, some loaded with extra's, some very minimally equiped. There are so many that your favorite must be out there already. Just search for it.

Help with Manila

I have been going through posts and this forum on and off for 2 days and i am just getting more confused.
I currently have manila version 2.5.19211619.0 on my hd2
I want to install a theme that says it is not compatable with manila 2.5.1921
my question is .....
How do i update manila. I don't quite understand what it is.....is it a collection of files or is it one whole file? to change icon sets and that sort of stuff do i just download individual cab files and run them.
I'm very cofused
Manila = htc sense.
The only way to change it is by flashing a ROM that has a different version (usually a custom ROM).
If you have further ROM questions, you'll find everything you need in the ROM section.
Also, make sure you do some searches, all this and much much more has been posted (though I do understand that it's a lot to go through).
And welcome to xda
Thankyou for your reply

General conscensus was to collapse the thread. I have adjusted the title to be more indicative of the help required.
Ankush, which kitchen are you using to cook your ROM - Ervius, OnDraster, etc.?
In response to:
touchscreen is not functioning properly???? Please be more specific tell us what happend exactly to your touch screen.
Did you omit any drivers or registry entries in OEM? Reads like you may have or there may be a compatibility issue ... see next response.
From where???? you can get the latest pkgs from the XDA developers.. using the search option like.... "latest camera QVGA"
Some camera package may not be compatible with the device or the version of OEM drivers. See next response.
OEM Drivers??? for elfin??? you can get them dumping a stock rom this is basic from setting the kitchen i told you that your OEM drivers folder is poor dunno why.
To elaborate; many chefs will track down an original ("official") HTC release ROM and extract it using a kitchen. They will then take this kitchen, make a copy of it for archive purposes, and start altering the kitchen.
Have a look at the Shipped ROM thread to see if you can locate the drivers you mention below.
This is a good question for begginers
There's a few thread on this already; have a look at the Tips And Tricks from Mr. Makk.
Action button stops working??? you need to be specific cause some OLD wm6 (your dumped base rom) apps are incompatible with 6.5
As above, it likely a driver issue. Also note that some device (ex: AT&T Fuze) have a proprietary KEYBOARD.DLL compiled specifically for the device. This may result in certain buttons not functioning with newer SYS and/or drivers from a similar device that doesn't have the same buttons.
The rom is laghing a lot... well that is just experience. you will se when you add and delte old things will see that the rom will be better.
You may need to increase the PagePool size. You'll need to some searching as different devices need different sizes - it's specific to RAM and processor.

mmm interesting
1.- 3.14 maybe or maybe not is a hybrid... some are 3.07 and some are other ported OEM folders to ELFIN... i know that some of them works ok with elfin, like.... mmmm OPAL OEM drivers (some of them not all)
2 & 3.- As you may red on the tutorial I said that the EXT pkgs must have categorized.. something like
EXT
-ELFIN
--23658
--COMMON
---Conectivity
----Commanager_2.0_HTC_Mega
----Connection Setup_3.2_Opal
---Images
----OS images
----Red theme 6.5.X
----Red theme 6.5
---Reg tweaks
----Performance
----Asharsunny_touchresponse
----Regional_settings
be sure your new added EXT PKGS applications are well categorized
Remember too.. that every EXT pkg needs or sometings has as a default the files app.dat and app.reg... I will update the tutorial for other langs to explain this two files function for noobs, but if you search you can have many tutorials lost there in the forums by amesh... hilaireg... and many awsome members.
5.- the SDautorun is an enhaced function into the normal or RUNCC app... the SD autorun allows you to install apps onfirst boot via cab in your storage card...
The SD autorun needs a line in the config.txt that must be in the normalOEM pkg for autorun, mmmm something like...
LOCK:Enabled
EXEC:\Windows\SetHSDPA.exe /Enable
CAB: \Windows\Certs.cab
CAB: \Windows\SMSFIX.cab
CAB: \Windows\btfix.cab
Hide:Enabled
LOCKisabled
EXEC:\Windows\SDAutoRun.exe

Not to offend you but most of the questions you are asking here are already answered on the board.
Cooking a rom is asking some action from you too. A lot of reading, trying, flashing, tweaking etc.
About the 3.14 base you are talking about you could try asking the people who are cooking with it.
I don't think Chef Central is created to dump questions but it's a place to help each other out if you realy don't know what to do anymore.
Just my 2 cents and good luck with cooking.

No offence but Ya i know that, and i am not a fool that i will simply ask questions and not search it before.
About OEM3.14 drivers, i ask many cooks i dont want to name them but it seems one of them lost it, one of them modified it in his kitchen and some of them are not replying. Thats why i asked it over here.
And about SDAutorun, i saw the tutorial but nowhere it is mentioned that i have to add it in oem pkgs and edit config.txt
which i know now as our fellow member +Que PPC told it to me.

If you ask questions why Album and Audiomanager not showing that's just a simple initflash edit which you can find in the sticky here at Chef Central.
And about Sdautorun offcourse that is explained on the board as well a simple search will give you answers.

@Ankush:
The original intention of Chef Central was to help beginner/aspiring chefs who felt overwhelmed by the task of chef'ing their own kitchen.
That said, most seasoned chefs have no issues providing guidance and assistance providing of course, that you have have taken the time to search the forum. There is a wealth of information available and often times, there is a thread that already provides insight into a particular problem that you may be experiencing.
Most seasoned chefs started off by cooking a ROM for their device using what was officially released by HTC. For example, I first started off with WM6.1 for my Raphael (as that is what was shipped by HTC) using Ervius PkgToolsBuildOS. When I was comfortable with this, I moved to Ervius Visual Kitchen; and then proceeded to inject WM 6.5.x to the kitchen. You have no idea how many times I re-read the Porting Tutorial - a lot!
It is important to provide as much detail as you can when posting about a problem you are experiencing. I also suggest contacting some of your fellow Elfin chefs as I am certain they would be more than happy to help as well - keep in mind that this is a hobby for most folks and that questions may go unanswered for a long time. Additionally, manufacturers, vendors, and operators aren't really keen on what we do so other than the tutorials and information you find on forums such as these ... you're going to have to learn by trial-and-error.
Lastly, as I believe that threads in Chef Central should remain open to help on an ongoing basis, I also feel that it is the responsibility of the OP to eventually mark their thread as [SOLVED] ... hence my initial recommendation that each problem be a single thread. I also feel that you, as an aspiring chef, must take the time to research before posting about an issue you are having.

[Q] Been at this a week now and need some assistance - Cooking in latest Manila

I have been trying all week to get the latest (or any v2.5) Manila integrated into my ROM. I am using the latest osKitchen. There has been a lot of trial & error but here's what I have done so far:
Import latest HTC WWE ROM - 1.56
Rebuild this ROM just to prove it works
Replace 6.1 Kernel with 6.5 Kernel found on here
Import a newer Windows Mobile Build
Build ROM to test it works with stock OEM drivers/apps etc
Add my own preferred applications & settings etc and rebuild
At this point I now have a working ROM with the apps & settings I need, however it has the stock Manila (TouchFLO 3?) that I would like to replace. I have downloaded LOTS of manila packages and tried including them in the build whilst excluding the stock 'Manila v1.3.37395.2' but each time there is a problem. Typically the device boots OK but locks up during the first boot customisation sequence.
I am assuming (hoping?) other people have followed a similar procedure and hit the same issues? I was hoping for some pointers as to how I get past this hurdle
Thanks, Andy

Been trawling through the Chef Central forum for a week...
There are lots of Manila threads but I can't find anything that matches my issue. Thought I'd try on the Native Blackstone forum
Only got the Blackstone last week - still have the Kaiser until I can get the ROM just as I want it. I'll update my signature
I can't believe that nobody has hit the same issues as me
The stock ROM that I imported simply doesn't have the correct packages or simplu cannot support the latest Manila so needs updating/replacing etc. I have searched and searched (and searched and searched...) but I am really struggling to find out what I need to add/remove/update from the stock ROM packages to get the latest Manila in my 6.5 ROM.
Anyone? Please?
i think you didnt search enough.

i would say take a look at there.

and take a look at this thread You will learn more about manila

If you really cant find anything
I can upload mine kitchen which is working great
I did go to the dark side (iphone 4)
I have 42 memory usage after soft reset and it very stable
Its up to you do you want a kitchen which is made by yourself ( which is the best way to learn cooking) or...

Thanks for that link Rambo. I honestly tried searching using different word combinations and could not find that thread
It has helped me somewhat however I am still struggling getting Manila 2.5 to work with osKitchen.
I have now resorted to using the whole of the HTC Leo EXT packages and then replacing/grafting in EXT packages from the original Blackstone dump. This is working but has various issues that need fixing.
I'll plod on....

[Q] Manila: editing 22e41977_manila (home layout) to see more calendar entries

Hi All,
I searched a lot but could not find a solution, so here's what I want to do: Manually editing the 22e41977_manila file to remove the RSS reader (allready done this one) and use the newly available space to display the next two calendar entries instead of just one. I know that CHT can do that but CHT slows my device down alot. So I want to edit the homescreen by my self and cook it in the ROM.
A similar question has been asked a while ago here, but with no really helpful answer.
AFAIK CHT also edits the responsible Manila file so some one allready needs to know that Do you guys have any hints?
I am using the latest (2021/2) Manila from OBOE BTW...Thanks alot already!
Hey mate,
I too tried to work on this and asked similar question here.
But with no luck/help yet .
It will be good if we can have this working.
BTW: Default Manila home does display one entry from calender but only if that is NOT FULL Day appointment .
Thanks.
Sounds like your best bet would be to ask in the CHT thread. A lot of the people involved in that project are more than willing explain how certain aspects of the mod are accomplished. They have helped me in out in areas like this. Just a thought
Another Idea that just popped up in my mind: How about using the plain manila we have now, install CHT and modify the home layout according to this. Now backing up the respective manila file(s?) and uninstalling CHT. Afterwards replacing the manila file in the ROM or the kitchen. Could that work? Thoughts?

Manila files used in CHT are very complicated and tightly coupled so we cant use part of those files .
We can try to look into the files (responsible for this task) of CHT and figure that out... but that is not easy .
Thanks.
