Weather Tab - HD2 General

Hi all First Time post Long time Reader
My Weather App is only displaying the default locations (e.g. NY, LA Shanghai).
When i try to add my location, it states that it cannot find my location. Google maps finds my location fine. gps is on. And in settings, location is on as well. does anyone have any idea as to why it will not allow me to add my location? Which is 29306 , spartanburg BTW.
appreciate any and all help.
thanks

Weather on home screen

Hi
The weather under the clock on the home screen is set using 'my location' data; however this is invariably wrong and currently I am being told the forecast for a town in Estonia despite being in the UK.
Is it possible to 'fix' the location for the home weather screen just as with the weather tab?? Its incredibly annoying!
Ps. Brown is classy!
Same problem here... Actually I'm in Italy but the locator tells I'm in Urumqui (CN).
I use the search option in the forum, but seems there isn't any weather database compatible with this Manila version.
Shoud work with the xml file and I tryed to edit manually but with no luck...
Who knows
It's normalous,
I life in countryside and my htc mega made for me similar. But when I go to see my girlfriend at The closest city, the weather appears.
It's maybe (i think) because the phone search our position with the GPS and in certain places, it's lost.
It's my mind.
PS : sorry for my english
I don't understand...
My Rhodium localization works also without any additional database and the Mega beside not, same operator cell
same problem
Hello,
Since a few days I have a new Touch2 of T-Mobile.
If this is not my first WinMobile phone, but the first one, the location detection with no GPRS riff.
With GoogleMaps, I find myself back in Iran.
Now, using the weather plugin on the home page, the location determination via GPRS, is now also knows I like the weather in Tehran.
Experimenting with the "location settings" and also with AdvanceConfig in the settings for GPRS and HSDPA has brought nothing.
Sorry for my bad english.
for weather, press start, go to widget, click "directory" or so and choose weather. you will find the actually temps in homescreen

Sorry, but there is no app to change that for Homescreen.
Only for accuweather.
This Homescreen change only by GPRS.
I started a supportcase with HTC today, as my information had been updating though at some point it just stopped to work.
If any more news surfaces I will let you all know, keep in mind that HTC uses the Google location services. There might be the problem of this specific problem.
make sure location services is activated. It can be found in the settings. Try that.
Just to put the problem in perspective
- I am using Telfort (Dutch provider, who roams on the KPN network)
- Google maps is able to locate my position with the information of CellID
- All the required settings are checked: location-settings at settings\system
- All roaming options are checked at the Weather options screen (at the homescreen)
- Exchange Activesync works over the UMTS/HSDPA network
What did I do until now:
- exchange my Telfort sim (roaming on KPN) with my T-Mobile sim (not roaming), result > issue not resolved
- factory reset with T-Mobile or Telfort, result > issue not resolved
- Google maps with location on CellID works all the time.
What asked HTC to check out:
- check all the weather/location based settings, result > everything should be as it is set
- if the issue resolves when turning on Wifi & connect to a Wifi network (all networktraffing goes via the Wifi connection), result > Weather does update???
My conclusion at this moment is that somehow the HTC Weatherinformation on the homescreen is not able to use the UMTS/HSDPA network to update it's information while Exchange Activesync works flawlessly.
Currently awaiting further replies to my findings from HTC
(oh sorry my phone is set to Dutch )
A small update from my side, today I heard after troubleshooting with HTC that there might be a update coming to address the weather issue. Though, according to the Techie, this still needs to be confirmed. She could not say if I am the only one with the problem but I do know better.
Keeping you posted
Zero, thank you for the update on the unofficial HTC position.
The issue that you are experiencing is exactly the same as mine, the only difference is that my PDA have the Italian localization
Weather on home page not working
I also have a problem with the weather icon on the home page of HTC TouchFLO (with calendar, clock and weather). It always gives the message "No weather data available" - "geen weergegevens beschikbaar" when trying to update. The weather tab works fine, though.
I tried updating it via Wifi & Gsm (gprs). I even tried it outside with the Gps on and Google maps giving the correct position.
Start / Settings / System, Location Settings: this is turned on.
I also tried it in Brussels, with no success.
The manual says "... allows you to update the Home tab with the latest
weather information of your current location"
Where can I define the current location? Or what is used to define it?
It would have been easier if it used the same information as the weather tab.

If you want to weather the home screen is the same as in the weather tab, you should install it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4643759&postcount=1265
I installed Manila Home Weather Updater (with MortScript).cab and weather updates itself automatically when updates the weather in Manila tabs.
Thank you. I will try it.
On the web page it says: possible battery drain. This could be a problem...
With the original system, is the weather on the home page using the GPS to find the location?
HTC has released a radio update which updated my radio version from 3.48.25.27 to 3.49.25.05
discussed here on XDA
though this radio update did not solve my specific problem, I requested a SIM replacement for my 9 year old sim. Eventually that solved the complete problem.

I think that the weather on home screen is not updated by the gps. I tried to update before the gps but still nothing ...
Updated forecast is associated with google maps and the location of the phone.
Is updated via GPRS or wifi.
But why this does not work, I do not know

I found this update on the HTC. Link:

The update changed the radio, also helped to update the data on the home screen.
Weather on the home screen works
Still not working
I downloaded the update from HTC. Installed it with no problems but still weather will not work. It is still stuck on Hong Kong, where I first turned on the device, and will not update my weather here in China. I have done everything suggest on the posts I have read and still nothing. Also, it is not even giving me the correct weather for Hong Kong, which would at least be something.
Also, did that recent update affect the music player from HTC? Mine seems to have an interface I never saw before?

If it does not work update from HTC, I propose to install it:

Weather on the home screen will be updated with the weather on the "weather" tab.
My gf has a Touch2 and i cant get the home weather to update with the weather tab like on my HD... I used the mentioned file with mort but still no results...
BTW is there a way to put My location like on TF3D? because i have only been able to manually set up my weather location. We live in the UK atm and have bought an unlocked Touch2 from handtec.co.uk.
Finally what Europe version do u download from HTC? When i go there it was Europe 1 and 2... Is there anyway i can see where UK and Cyprus is located?

[Q] Any app that requests GPS crashes :(

Hi Guys/Girls,
My first post having got hold of my first Android tablet 7" MID A13 really impressed for the price I've not stopped messing with it, but I seem to have a problem. For some reason Google Maps and Google Earth seem to crash unless I use Location Spoofer to fake my location, my device does not have GPS but surly this shouldn't matter, any ideas?
Hi, if you don't have GPS, you won't be able to pinpoint your location.. unless you set it to a specific location.

Yer I understand that but Surely the program shouldn't crash on load is there anyway to permanently fake a gps position in a config file somewhere?
What options do you have checked in the location settings?

I'm having the same problem. GPS Status & Toolbox, GPS Status Test & Fix and GPS Test all get a fix, accurate to 10 metres. When I open Google Maps, it just constantly says waiting for location. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Google Maps, and now the GPS icon doesn't even come up in the status bar (it did show up before the uninstall/reinstall but it still wouldn't get a fix). Does anyone have any ideas?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...+play&pcampaignid=APPU_RYS7U77vILKM7AbBjICACg
i've uninstalled the updates, now gps starts when i open google maps ...
but i only get the location given by the network or wifi.
the gps icon in the notification bar blinks ... finds the location fast enough (the location is accurate if checked in other applications) ... but this location is not shown in google maps:
if in location settings/mode i check 'gps only' ... the gps locks the correct position, but it is not shown on the map ...
if i chose 'high accuracy' .... maps will show the position of given by the network (which is not accurate)
any ideas? thank you!
btw google earth too fails to start the gps and to find an accurate position - it will get the position given by the network ... so it's a google thing - i guess!
another funny thing:
in maps i get the location using the network (which is not accurate), but if i switch to navigation - i get the location by gps (more accurate)!
so it uses the gps just for navigation .... what is this?
I figured out my problem: Google Play Services and Privacy Guard. Google Play Services needs location access as well as Maps.
Click thanks if I helped you

Location settings issue

Every time I ask google how the weather is it only shows me Mountain View CA's weather, but my location is set by the Wi-Fi network and I don't live in Cali. I tried to do a reset to no avail does anyone know how to change it? Also I noticed in the system apps under settings there is a dialer installed on the NP and contacts storage, isn't that a little odd?
Anyone?
No idea how to fix it but I see the same issue here.
Same here. Looks to be stuck in Mountain View, CA. Hoping an update comes out soon to fix the problem.

Reminder based on my current location

Hey guys,
I find the feature in Google Now to create reminders based on my location. I find that very interesting and check out directly. But I realized that it does not work in my case. The location service is active. I use the feature in Germany. Can anyone help?
It does work, You must have a setting disabled.
Or maybe Battery Optimsation is sleeping the app.
Basically you need GPS enabled, and it needs to be activated at your location.
Try disabling them from the Battery Optimisation.
I know it works, as i use it all the time to remind me when i am at Asda to pickup various items i would normally forget.
Thank you for the reply.
In the Battery Optimsation Settings are all apps listed but not the Google Now app.
The App is using my location and GPS is enabled, see the screenshot below. Do you have any idea?
