Sweet! - Droid Incredible General

So who is getting one when it drops?

It's just another Android phone, nothing special.
They really need to use another form factor to sell it.

my contract is not over until this october.

I got the Eris back in December, but it looks like I may sell it to purchase this, just because it has a better cpu that will offer more support in the longer run and camera with flash(like my previous phone).

I'm getting one if my wife lets me
Otherwise I'm up for renewal 11 Jan 2011

I've had my G1 since April, and I feel like this might be the first phone to make me leave. Nexus was tempting, but the 5 mp camera was lackluster considering the X10 had a better camera and I knew better stuff would be coming out. After the Evo was announced I planned on getting one, but I played with a T Mobile HD2 today, and it was just too big. I had to move my hand to reach the top of the screen. Looks like I'm coming to Verizon!

Annoyed the desire didn't come with this 8meg sensor lol

my friend just got his droid recently, and will be under 30 days when the preorder starts to roll, so he lucked out and will be getting this!
after seeing my n1, hes jealous! and now happy that he will be getting this!

I'm definitely going to get it if they did something about the multitouch issues or the pink hues on the LCD screen. I really doubt they fixed either though (I'm guessing it has the same parts as the N1 and Desire), so I'm going or wait and see. I may end up with the Motorola Shadow, I don't know yet.

I dunno. It has the memory my Droid is missing.has a decent camera as well. Throw Swype on it and it might be the first phone I've bought in a long time without a physical keyboard. I'll wait and see how rooting and battery life goes, but I think this is a likely purchase for me. Only a few things I don't care for with the Droid, but they seem to be addressed with this phone.

I wish there was a GSM version of the phone! Selling it in the future would be, oh, so much easier.

Come on... all I want is physical keyboard. Though I admit the back of the device looks sexy as hell (and I realize not everyone will like it).

OH YEAH
Pre-ordered mine! Can't wait for Thursday to come...unless I get lucky and Verizon decides to ship mine early too!! Switching from XV6900 with NFSFAN WM 6.5. Excited to try out Android, personally hope Android grows bigger than Apple and their iphone. Can't stand Apple products...

When will our Nexii become old news?

Im getting my N1 tommorow, and I feel like regretting it for some reason.. not for "some reason".. just because I feel like it will be old soon.. and after I just got it..
When will our beloved Snapdragon device finnaly become nothing? If there planning on releasing a 2GHz processor for our phones soon, i'd say maybe next year. Though hopefully not..
Other than that, this phone seems to have an incredible lifespan.. the only way I could see a better Android phone coming out is that it has a better processor (as stated above). Or more RAM, of course.. which has already been done.
Really, I just need some reassuring that such a costly device isnt thrown in the garbage simply after a few months. My mommy didn't want to get this for me as is =/
Alas, there is no way to cease innovation.
The hardware on this device is underutilized. The nexus is the snappiest phone out there. With the g1 and mytouch I could feel the lag, but on the nexus the nexus the UI is snappy, I don't know if I need a device faster than the nexus. If Google addresses the software issues I think this phone can become noticeably smoother and better in so many areas. With adequate attention from android this phone can be relevant for years. I think video calls will become pretty standard as will much better camera hardware and that will eventually put the nexus towards the back of the 'superphone' pack. The nexus camera is disappointing but from what I understand it can vastly improve with software updates.
Basically the phone is performing below its capabilities which is exciting but also disconcerting in that there is no dependable indication that Google will address the minor and major issues that make the nexus somewhat disappointing. Only time will tell, the potential is there, we just need to motivate Google.

Resell for $300-$400 and buy the next phone from www.google.com/phone unlocked and off-contract and BAM, back in business.
Google selling phones off-contract = most awesome thing ever. It's sure to shake up the US mobile industry.

I didn't know/think someone would buy the phone for such a price with it being outdated at the time of selling. Guess it doesn't matter though, I will use your advice.
And thanks for the thorough post Maverick, your typing did not go to waste - I read it all. Didn't know the Nexus was performing under expectations - or not being fully utilized. Quite exciting, actually. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this device.

Oh trust me, people are definitely willing. Especially people that don't follow tech news.... Muwhahahahah!
Case in point, I sold my G1 last month for $160. I posted on here about it and others said they sold it for $200+. The kicker is that I got mine for $99 on Amazon, so after using it for 10 months, I even made a profit
Considering here in Australia, the best android phone you can get is a Hero, my nexus one is going to be top of the pack for some time, the best thing that has been annouced here will be the desire in april. But the specs are nearly similar, and there are pros and cons to sense UI.
This phone will last a while if it is properly supported by android updates.

Paid 50 for my G1 because some stupid guy at work thought that he liked his shadow much better, in January of 2009. Sold my G1 for 200 on craigslist February 17th, made huge profit. Too many ill informed individuals to take advantage of...... I guess it works for me.
That is all actually interesting! As a matter of fact, I have a G1.. I didn't think if selling it for 200$ or more though. I couldn't anyways, its in mint condition.. but I broke the screen. While it is still usable, I doubt anyone would want it. I'll just sell it cheap, lol.
Taking advantage of the not tech savy people, a new way for me to make profit I see.. niceeee...

Protect your screen! With a screen protector ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618006 ) or a case! My G1 was in 99% perfect condition when I sold it (I dropped it once and the corner was a bit gummed up).
A few bucks on either yields a few hundred when it's time to sell. Worth it, isn't it?
You know what the sad thing is.. I have a case, the perfect case that would've caused the screen not to break.. but I was getting tired of having a case on all the time, and a few weeks, or days, after I removed the case - I dropped the phone face down - and that was the end of it =/ I would've been devastated if I knew I wasn't get my N1 anytime soon.
I learned my lesson though.. the hard way.

Why Nexus One Was Leapfrogged by HTC Incredible and Evo 4G

Google Exec Hints at Why Nexus One Was Leapfrogged by HTC Incredible, Evo 4G
http://googlewatch.eweek.com/content/android_vs_iphone/google_exec_hints_at_why_nexus_one_was_leapfrogged_by_htc_incredible_evo_4g.html
"Nexus One isn't a failure so much as a casualty of the success of the next wave of Android smartphones. In a few months, I'm sure we'll be saying the same things about the Incredible and the Evo 4G."
Some people may be bothered with this, but I am happy with my Nexus One. I have no buyers remorse.
I don't view my N1 as obsolete in any way at all and am quite happy with it, it's no worse than the Incredible and all aspects of the device ooze performance
phones are starting to become like computers now. as soon as you buy one a new and better one comes out tomorrow.
and what sucks about is...you're suck with a 2 year contract.
So adding two features equals "leapfrogged" now?
What a load of crap. Who has FroYo now? Yeah, that's what I thought.
I always f*cking hate these posts. I really don't want to hear doom and gloom.
Definitely don't feel any remorse.
My phone is JUST as good as the ones that are coming out NOW.
Yea, 8MP cam + dual flash, but cmon, the pictures are hardly better.
Plus the nexus LOOKS better than both of those.

SERIOUSLY, people are rediculous....... I stayed with DDR400 until DDR32000 came out because it was a serious step up...... There is nothing that screams "OH MY GOD INNOVATION" about either phone..... My next phone will be when my Nexus no longer has the NAND capacity for the current Android version. I love my Nexus
i'm with mortzz on this one. we have a phone that we can do whatever we want to do to it. i'd MUCH rather have this. i'm on the fence about the evo, but until we can get real system access (yeah, i saw the root article, but i'll believe it when i see it), custom ROM's, etc, i'll stick with the N1. which, btw, is STILL the sexiest phone i've ever seen. girl i'm seeing has the incredible, and...no thanks. not in comparison. it's a nice phone, if you have to have verizon. but, i don't
i do however have to get a sprint device. so...i may have to break contract with tmo and get the evo. otherwise, my school is going to stick me with the freaking touch pro 2 as my pager. lord what a step back that will be. but, at least if i take that, i can keep my N1
Uh. What?
Incredible and Evo won't get FroYo until the end of this year.
How about we come back to this article then so we can point and laugh?
Having root >>>> anything else.
Have any high-end phones since the Nexus achieved full root? I mean cracked bootloader and all. Desire, Legend, new Droids - none have the kind of access we do. Heck, we may have the best fully root-able hardware HTC will ever release.
I dont think the Incredible is any better than the N1, i've played witht he incredible and it feels cheap plastic like and the camera sucks as well. I like the feel of the N1 and like the looks of it. The Evo is a whole different story...

They have "root" meaning they have su permissions. AFAIK they don't have write permissions to the partitions, so it's pretty worthless.
Only thing i regret about my Nexus One is that apparently the Desire and Incredible both have touchscreens that fixed the multitouch issues.
Other than that the idea of having basically a google developement phone surpasses any of the other current phones, maybe when we see a decent hardware upgrade, then it will be a different story, but hopefully Google continues to make new Nexus phones.

That is sad. So they have the same MT issue as us, a much smaller dev front, usb-bricking issues while flashing roms, no full solution for being rooted/unlocked...took htc ages to release the kernel...they won't see froyo for ages (officially).
Not much to be ... wait for it... desired

How many points does a Galaxy register again? I'm guessing more than 2
In the UK, the N1/Desire is still the King. Desire = UK incredible, but is LITERALLY an N1, and I doubt we will ever see the Evo here [not even a whisp of 4g network].
Even if they did, all the incredible has is the less buggy touch matrix, although this has been nicely 'fixed' in froyo. The evo is a different breed of phone, id never buy it purely based on the fact that i like thinks to fit in my pocket xD
Until I see a snapgradon 1.3+, 1GB RAM, a TRUE 8mp+ cam, froyo, new gen OLED/better, my N1 can sleep with my girl any day.
that makes two of us i love man I LOVE MY NEXUS ONE

haha my friend was a tad jealous of me. he has the Hero and i like his sense ui. but the minute froyo came out, i installed it. i showed him how i can play hulu, i showed him that i got live wallpapers (of course he doesn't have 2.1) and the rest of the froyo goodness. and outta jealousy, he was like "oh well im gonna get a phone thats better than that. im give to get the Evo 4G that has everything the nexus one has and more, including Android 2.2" and i was like "riiiiight. just like the hero was supposed to (officially) get 2.1 right?" and he stood quiet lol idk about all of you guys but i don't really care for 2 led lights. im good with just one. as for 4G, i like to have the freedom to switch between my N1, my BB Curve 8310, and my iPhone 3GS with the simple swap of a SIM card so im great with my Sexy Nexy

From n1 to g2 and back. Anyone else?

So I've had my n1 (two actually, claimed insurance on first one cuz I accidentally smashed it) since its release. Got the g2 on oct4 (west coast early store sell) and today I've decided to return the g2.
I love the keyboard but I'm faster on my nexus one with smart keyboard pro. Battery life is better on my nexus (I think fixed in ota). The g2 did feel snappier overall even with a stock rom, and browsing was in a different league!
Don't get me wrong the g2 is better in every way but not much better. Not enough to warrant $499+tax. If I was upgrading from g1 with full $200 upgrade yes.
I also kept posting my n1 on Craigslist with the dock and kept blowing off buyers. Somehow I could not part with my nexus. I guess I love this phone TOO much. Anyone else have a similar story?

I cheated on my Nexus One with an Hd2 when I thought I could use Android on it... Boy was that a huge mistake!
I def learned my lesson, no more non-developer phones... EVER!!!
Nexus One is the perfect phone for me. It does everything I need perfectly:
- Google Maps Navigation
- Free tethering
- Instant Google Voice text msg notifications
- Free unlimited calls through gizmo/google voice
- Emulators + Bluetooth wiimote support
- DolphinHD browser
- Color trackball notifications
- Voice dictation
- Great Tmobile / HTC customer service
- Updates directly from Google
- Beautiful thin design that doesn't make me look like I have an erection in my front pocket due to a unnecessary hardware keyboard

I did the exact same thing, paid the full 500 and everything. Had my nexus one from march till now, it's been REAL good to me. Got the G2 Oct 6 and returned it today. Definitely nothing wrong with it but like you said, i feel it's not much better, but it's really a nice phone(build quality and everything), on par with the N1. The lady said they wanted to bring the nexus one in-store since so many people ask for it, but its a no go..definitely luv my Nexus One.
Us n1s are rare now... I got phone jealousy from the vibrant but not anymore. I thought the iphone 4 would give me a little tug seeing as I use to be 3gs user.. But I walked in the store picked it up, laughed, and walked away... Compare a picture on the two lol

I thought about going to a galaxys, for the gpu jump. But I wasn't convinced (still not), that it was worth the effort.
For me, there's no real upgrade options until dual-core.
Why you'd sell a phone that its software are in the mature stage for something new?
I bought a vibrant just to play around and the phone sucks, i mean hardware is great but when you look at the dev's forum for the phone you hardly find anything. Only fixes and half baked roms, however the fault is not the community but samsung for being slow and asshats about releasing updates for their phones.
From now on i'd get a phone may be 5 or 6 months after its initial release because i can see how the software has matured for the phone as well as a considerable drop in price.
To me android is a worthless operating system fresh from the carriers because is just full of bloat and limitations, without the community android would be just another big FAIL imo.
So going back to the G2 i think is still too early, while n1 owners enjoy the software stability and new releases, the G2 owners still wait for propper root or samsung galaxy s owners are waiting for 2.2 which is sad.

I agree with how people should wait a few months AFTER the phone is released to think about purchasing. Heck, that's true for ALL electronics. Let the other guys discover all the potential problems and then I'll decide if it's worth it. In the case of my N1... 100% worth it.
You lot disappoint me. I would never cheat on my nexus.
-Sent from my Nexus One Superphone.
I have thought about switching the G2 countless times, but in the end, I just couldnt justify the 500+ for the G2 or leaving my N1.
The G2 is really an updated N1, but the added bulk of the physical keyboard really turned me off. I am going to wait til there is something like the N1 with a 4 inch+ screen.
No point in a G2 unless you want the keyboard.
I tested it out in store and was massively disappointed. I'm faster with Swype.
Not only that but with people reporting hinge problems... Blech. Even if you don't have hinge problems, the added mechanism as opposed to a slate device means more room for hardware issues/failure 6+ months into owning the phone. A slate phone means as long as you don't drop it, no hardware will break.
Also I tested an embedded Flash video in the browser and it stuttered just like my N1. I guess I'll have to wait until the 3rd gen Adreno GPUs (220) to make an upgrade on that front.
Returned mine in 2days

You can not go from an Android to Iphone especially if you've never used an Iphone. You can go from iphone to android though. The reason why is you take things forgranted with Android that Iphone doesn't do, simple things such as ring tones and alerts sounds.
To original topic the N1 rules, g2 drools
I have my Nexus One sitting proudly on my desk sitting in it's dock playing music channeled into my boss stereo. It sounds freaken fantastic. I also went out and bought the G2 thinking I was missing out on something new and fresh. The only thing I see that is a major plus is the memory. I rarely use the keyboard, use Vlingo for just about all entries into both devices. I'm going to probably keep the G2 but will never give my Nexus One away.. I honestly have not seen a better looking, quality built phone. The extras that you can buy for it and the endless tinkering that you can do. Yep, I love that damn phone, sorry honey go to bed, the Nexus and I are up doing some tinkering.
You guys just made my day with your comments about the N1 ! I ordered one a few days ago - it is unfortunately B/O and I should get it in a few days.
I was also considering the Samsung Galaxy X and I am glad I chose the N1. Froyo was released for the Galaxy yesterday - after a long wait to get the latest version of Android, the users quickly found that the major GPS and lag problems are still present. Beautiful specs on paper... on paper only !
Wow
I just ordered one that will be here on Monday and I'm gettin really excited reading the posts here have had a backflip (was a bad joke lol) now i have the htc aria, its a decent phone, but will have the N1 Monday. Thanks for all the insight and help from the site.

Wondering if Incredible 2 is worth it? Yes, yes it is.

Got it a few hours ago. On paper, the specs but don't seem like a huge upgrade, but when you actually use it, you can tell it is.
It's fast. No hiccups, lag, or anything. You may say, "my dinc doesn't have any lag or slowdown either," but when you mess with a dinc 2 you will see what I mean. Screen is gorgeous. Phone feels excellent. Speaker is less "tinny" than the original.
I still need to mess with a ton of other stuff, but if you have any questions, let me know.
I'm most concerned with if/when it gets rooted. And how many dev's it picks up. Looks like quite a few of them already went to the Thunderbolt. I'm not due for an upgrade until July 2012 anyway, so when that date comes, who knows what will be out, but I will probably go with whatever is already rooted, and has the most development.
I had one a few days ago, and honestly, the "faster" tihng is really overblown. A menu screen may pop up a microsecond faster, but it wasn;t any more useable or anything. And the glare on that screen could cut glass.

I got one this morning and I'm liking it. I needed a world phone so it was a no-brainer for me. I like the screen size as compared to my dinc1. It's a good compromise with having a bigger screen without being one of the 4.3" phones that I thought were too big.

What Sense version is it? What kernel? Is it drm protected so it can do netflix? I noticed on the vzw website it has the same processor as the Thunderbolt. So don't know if it would be. Also noticed it doesn't have a trackball or optical joystick. Thats gonna suck.

I read somewhere that it's Sense 2.0. The kernel is 2.6.35.9. Don't know about drm.
As for the trackball/optical, i'm glad it doesn't have it. I never used it on my dinc1.

Sense is version 2.00.0000.339629
Guess I'll have to play with one to check out the glare thing. DI2 is just the size I was looking for, but no dual core and no LTE, made me actually consider waiting for the GS2..... or better.
I believe its sense 2.1 and I personally like the optical joystick as well.

Im playin with one now at verizon and neither it or the tbolt are a big enough upgrade over the dinc for me. Tbolt maybe, dinc 2, no way. Im runnin optimized z and my phone is way smoother. Inc2 screen only slightly bigger, ive got a z camera that is the same. Dinc2 is already outdated IMO.

That's a big concern for me. I just picked up the DInc2 yesterday....at retail price. Why? Both my wife and I are deaf and we live in what you would call a rather remote area, but at least have VZW tower nearby. A 4G/LTE phone is overkill when one lives nearly 2 hours to the first traffic light. So, on paper, as a 3G phone with video chat capability at a lower price then the LTE stuff, the DInc2 really fits the bill by giving me video chat so my wife and I can sign to each other when in different locations. That's a big plus.
BUT... as I scout all the normal forums I've used for my Droid 1, Droid X and Nook, the DInc2 looks like a real sleeper in terms of dev interest. This is my first HTC phone and even though the Motorola Droid has that %*&$#@ 'locked' bootloader, there's still a lot of options as well as the leaked restore files. I don't really want to root a phone until the point where there's some solid dev work as well as the ability to restore after screwing something up.
So, since like I mentioned, we're nearly 2 hours to the first traffic light and the nearest VZW store is just beyond that, I may bring it back on Tuesday when we're in the area and wait for the next suitable phone that has video chat capabilities. I've always used VZW's one-year contract and now that this option has bit the dust, I don't want to sign a two-year extension at the end of the year unless its for a phone that well-supported by devs AND has decent battery life.

It takes a while for the devs to ramp up on a phone. It was a couple of weeks or more before the original DI was cracked and then it took even more time to get ROMs up to speed. Every phone is different and it just takes time. The DI2 was just released YESTERDAY. Your expectations might be just a little high.
...just sayin'.

Yeah, I do understand that. At the same time, I've been seeing devs flock away from other phones as they get fascinated with latest 4G/LTE, tablet, dual-core, etc. So, in that respect, I'd guess the DInc2 would gotten more attention had it been released early Winter.

IDK. Move on from my N1

I don't know if i should move on from my N1.
I had mine since the released date. I loved having this phone. I love how much dev it received. I love the form factor, size and performance. I don't know what more i need from my smartphone. However, its been almost two years now and want a new phone. Maybe I am having rom-flash withdrawal since there is no more CM nightly. My phone has been running like a champ. I have no dent, scratch and no hardware malfunction, other then multi-touch screen problem all N1 users have. I don't know if i need a bigger screen phone. I don't know if i want it any bigger.
Are your N1 still holding up? Are you still happy with it? I like to upgrade but it feels like a waste right now. What do you guys think? Maybe I should wait until ICS is available for N1. At least an official CM9 nightly.
My N1 is holding up like a champ. After having not updated the theme/icons/wallpaper, etc, for awhile, I started to get the "I need a new phone" thoughts...but since changing all of that and making things look more like ICS, I kind of feel like I have a new phone.
I dunno. I love my N1, despite all of its quirks. IMO there are few phones with the size and form factor on par or better than the N1's. The N1 is supported so well, it kind of seems like a waste to upgrade to better phone. I mean, most of the things the newer phones can do, the N1 can be hacked to do and perform it almost if not just as well.
I say wait. That's what I'm going to try to do. I have a AT&T N1 and am switching over to T-Mobile tomorrow. Unless I can get some 1900 mhz love from T-Mobile with the addition of the new band, I will be stuck on Edge which will be pretty brutal. I have a T-Mobile Moto Milestone but I don't want to pull that thing out because I love my N1 just so much...
Also, I cannot live without the trackball. I just can't. It is too awesome.
I also have an AT&T N1 and was thinking of switching to TMo, have you heard which markets they were using the 1900mhz in?
I was also thinking of getting the Galaxy Nexus, hopefully on someone beside Verizon.
I have also had N1 from release. I was getting bored, but I just recently installed one of the ICS builds. Very nice!
im feeling almost the same way, but I've only had this phone for about 6 months now... I bought it used on ebay.
Don't get me wrong, I love it.
Yeah it shame to let it go. I don't wanna. With devs here in xda, I feel like my N1 could live forever.
With all these new tech, Im just jealous and want to get it. But 600 dollar is alot to fork over. I have a special reserve just for tech but every time I think of pulling the trigger my N1 screams why. It still runs smooth, flawless and just the right size, it feels. Maybe new case will change my mind. Lol. I just can't wait for CM9 or ICS.

I think i'll keep mine until the next Nexus phone...
Other than the internal storage and touchscreen issues, it's still really a great phone.
The upgrades are not very compelling... The only reason to upgrade sooner was if it developed some fault and i can't be bothered to fix it.

I have not. My AT&T plan resets tomorrow, I believe, so today is kind of D-Day for my AT&T plan. I plan to port my number to Google Voice today and then renew my T-Mobile plan (I tried it out in November for one month).
There is a forum on HoFo where people have been reporting getting the new band. The here is the link for the forum: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1748317-Post-here-if-you-have-noticed-1900MHz-3G-on-an-iPhone-or-other-device
I was looking at the Galaxy Nexus too, especially because it was on sale on DailySteals the other day for $565 I believe. But...meh. Technology will only get better and better, and with the support here on XDA for the N1, I believe there is really nothing that the N1 won't be able to accomplish.

I'm holding out for the 32GB GSM Galaxy Nexus. I'm hoping T-Mobile will eventually offer it under contract so I can use my upgrade subsidy--I re-upped a 2-year family plan back in May so my wife could upgrade from a G1 to a G2X. The biggest downsides to the GN for me are the lack of a microSD card slot and a trackball. The first is nearly inexcusable. The second is unfortunately the new standard.
Though there aren't official CM nighties, there are some nice KANG builds out there that are pretty much the same thing--just gathering up the changes since the #253 official build. I'm using temasek's build, available here. The newest builds have been very stable.

My thoughts too.
lol, I feel like I walked into an N1 support group...
I was pretty confident I was going to upgrade to the GN, because I can get full subsidies from my carrier, but I need to pay it all upfront (I'll be buying it independently). When I thought about it some more, the GN isn't enough of a jump.
I mean, I've been with the N1 since it's launch, and it's served me so well. Yes, we all have that stupid synaptics touch screen, the terrible lack of internal storage and a camera I simply don't like using because of the quality. I personally would've liked the look of the N1 better without the trackball, but I can't say it hasn't been super useful. I think without the trackball though (and perhaps some less bland colors) it could've easily been the prettiest phone I've ever seen.
Everyone around here have either iPhones or Galaxies (1, 2). I gotta say, Samsung is only getting better in their design (even with the plastics). And their screens are a big win.
But for me, I'm waiting it out with my N1. I'm even considering keeping it on Gingerbread from now on, so that my upgrade will be a real experience. I think it's incredible to think that keeping my N1 on GB will really define the N1 as "legacy". Two years and it's still holding its own against the biggest and baddest phones out there.
When quad cores start pouring, I'll be taking another look. But atm I'm happy to be at the end of the cycle where my phone is becoming legacy and soon I will move on to the next cycle - Quad core, 720p, hardware-button-less, ICS and all those goodies...
HI MY NAME IS STEVE AND I AM ADDICTED TO MY NEXUS ONE. LOL.

i heart my N1 too much
I've also had my N1 since release and I honestly having a heard time finding a phone i'd rather be using. especially now that am running ICS on it.
i love the support this phone gets and probably will keep using it even after i get a new phone.
but i highly doubt i could ever really replace it.
hi
I used my nexus one for a year and a half. I bought a nexus S for cheap a few weeks ago (I wouldn't have bought this POS for full retail price, got it for U$270 off contract), but I'm really having a hard time letting go of my "old" N1.
I really, really miss the trackball notifications and the feel of the phone. I tried to explain it to my friends, but they didn't get it. They like the way samsung phones feel ("very light! awesome!"), but I don't. I like how HTC phones feel, sturdy and heavy.
Things I REALLY miss:
- trackball
- trackball colour notifications
- how the N1 feels
- battery life
- contactless desktop dock
- non-buggy ROMs!
Things I like on the NS:
- application storage space is 1GB! awesome!
- screen is better, multitouch is not buggy
- I thought i would miss the SD card, but I don't
Things I REALLY DISLIKE on the NS:
- buggy back button, presses itself or gets stuck.
- battery life sucks
- phone is stupid.
Things I couldn't care less for in the NS:
- NFC
- contour display
- front facing camera
long story short, I'm going back to my N1 and selling this piece of crap NS, maybe i can get some more money out of it.
I was thinking about picking up a Nexus S. Since ICS was released I was tempted. I also found some under 300. Glad I didn't.

I bought a brand new Nexus One last month. After hours of browsing on the internet looking at as many phones as possible, the N1 just stood out for some reason. And since owning it I haven't regretted my decision one bit.
In fact, my 82 year old Grandad has just bought one (over the iPhone too)!!
One thing that has actually amazed me about the N1, is that it can get a GPS lock in under 10 seconds when I'm indoors. Less than 5 when I'm outside. The first time I did it indoors my mind almost exploded. My old HTC Legend took ~30 seconds, and just couldn't really do it indoors. Not that being able to get GPS when I'm in my own house is of any use whatsoever, but I just thought it was epic
Never give up the N1 until something absolutely epic comes out, which, at the moment (at least IMO), there is not one phone worth forking out so much money for.
Long live the Nexus One!
I like it too. Hehe!

Anyone worrying about losing color notifications from the trackball - just letting you know the GNex has color notifications, the led is just hidden under the bezel (brilliant!).

Google actually listened. Prob one thing I like about GN. And also ICS, screen and ..... who am I kidding? I like the damn thing. But obviously not enough to take me away from my N1.
