Windows phone 7 - P3400 General

IHi Guys!!!
can HTC 3400 flash to Windows Phone 7 or Not?

yes it can be upgraded to windows 7. i m too waiting for any senior member to upload .nbh file for that

Sorry to break this... but I think the answer is an absolute NO.
Reasons:
1. The hardware specs are way too low ... just ask the chefs who are chruning out WM 6.5.x ROMs in the ROM Development forum for Gene.
2. It is being expected that M$ will do some nasty trick this time to lock to a minimum HW requirement for WM7. You can not even run TF3D on Gene or even Touch2 (since it requires HW acceleration).
There is also immense work involved in porting an OS to a device and there is a limit how much you can strip the OS, I think 128 MB ROM is too less for even WM 6.5 - trust me I once had that device .

excuse me sir
who told u tht htc p 3400i dont support windows 6.5
i m using it on my gene with 8gb card.so please dont say anything like a layman. about windows 7 i have no idea but windows 6.5 runs very smoothly on gene.okkkkkkkk

Bit of post pruning done here - please avoid personal comments.
Thank you
Mike

HTC Gene P3400 NEVER Flash to Windows Phone 7...
Gene P3400 has low performance and not highly support WM6.5...
i heard that HTC Touch HD2 also is not support WM7...

admins plz close this thread......

Windows Phone 7 is not out yet. Yes, I know about the "leak". However it contains ARM7 code that can NOT be run by any other device, but snapdragon based device, such as the HD2.
To summarize, WP7 will never run on the Gene or any other non ARM7 capable device. Closing thread.

Flashing WM6.5 rom, ever possible?

I have been using WM based device over five years and now, I would like to try something new.
It seems that the HTC Click is an easy start with Android, but I am just curious that is it ever possible to flash WM6.5 rom on Click just in case I cant get use to Android?
I'm no chef or developer or anything but my guess would be no.
Been using HTC diamond for last two years and they havn't fully got android working on that because of driver issues, so cannot see WM working on an even newer phone.
wtf would you wanna do that for?
that too lol
jamezelle , man ask some simple and logical question. why f word here? are you payed from somebody? millions are used to windows mobile. meaby only percent want not to change habits and you attack many people for no reason.
i also want to buy tatto , here is free with some contact, but if i can switch to wm.
dont YOU ask me why.
if somebody polite can ask i would give only couple reason:
1. i cannot live without total commander. and dont want to spend life in searching how to add it on andriod, if is possible at all?
2. also TCPMP
3. also meaby tomtom is what i prefer for gps
4. i like resco photo viewer
5. and sound recorder
6. also MANY simple utitlities i want to add too , like conversation recorder ...
7. also curious to see improvement in performance from my p3300 regarding processor and memory
8. not your bussines with your atacking aproach...
WOW! you're the one on the attack here, I agree with Jamezelle & judging by the reasons you posted, why not just stick to a windows mobile device?
I amazes me that people would post on an Android board asking how to make it run windows & expect not to get this kind of response?
Try going on an apple forum & asking if you can run windows on the iphone
People are being light hearted here (notice the smiley on the end of his reply?) but Seriously, if you really can't live without WM apps buy a WM phone (or contact the developer to ask if they considered an android version), if you want to change to Android then more power to you, go buy a cheap Android handset & keep both until you are 100% sure, T-mobile UK sell them on P.A.Y.G.
They are designed to run the OS they are shipped with, you cant really complain that it wont do stuff the other does.
Don't forget WM has been around a lot longer so there are bound to be more apps, in the very short time Android has been out it has done some wonderful things & in time (I believe) it will become the number 1 OS as more companies develop software for it.
I started on Android, changed to WM, then back to Android & many people here run both.
A serious & informative answer was given in the 1st reply. Did it really need to go this far?
NO, Windows OS or Apps wont run on an Android handset...
...AND THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT!!!!
Ok. more resonable answer, Thanks
i just think if nobody of wm users dont complain for possibility of android running on "wm devices" (seen this on Tilt , www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxcdSsmmKz8 )why would you guys complain?
i just like Tattoo device. and becaouse of your attitude i will certainly never have oportunity to have afordable great device (like tattoo)
But You can have win devices as i know. not fair . that is the point.
(sorry for eng)
ok . i'm out
i'w got answers, argue don;t lead anywhere...
all the best for all of us
why buying an android phone when late wm phones are same $$$ and fit better to a WM OS?
another thing is having an WM for the last year, and with the late release of android, wanting to flash to android
i got a htc winmo device from 2007 and Android has given it more life...especially the Tattoo Rom..gtta love sense UI on qvga..whats that? More HTC qvga android phones for 2010. Maybe I can wait for winmo 7 after all.
i have the solution
send me your tatoo
ill send you my htc touch mk 1
fair swap
you get windows
i get anotheR lovely android device !!
(( no but seriously the apps you want i can sort of agree with, file managers on android are a whole new thing when your used to win-mob, maybe try linda file manager or astro its just a getting used to process... or we can swap ! ))

htc tattoo clone running WM ?
Hello,
I have found this 3 month old news:
http://www.clonedinchina.com/2010/01/htc-tattoo-clone-touch-g4-runs-windows-mobile.html
Is this Windows mobile ROM compatible with the HTC Tattoo ?
If it is compatible, can someone upload this Windows mobile ROM ?
Thank you
Problem is, that this clone doesn't need to have the same hardware equipment as the original one (because of the drivers). But I know that the pendant of the tattoo (HTC Touch2) has nearly the same HW equipment...maybe this could be of any help?

WM official update to 6.5.3 for Omnia II ???

Hi, I'd like to now, before buiyng Omnia II, if Samsung gives the possibility to update in an official way (maybe through their updates) windows mobile 6.5 to wm 6.5.3 or 6.5.5.
And if there isn't this possibility, to download the unofficial roms from Modaco, obviously i have to be registered, but to register, do i have to pay? Otherwise is there a way to download these roms from xda?
Finally between the Arm1176 800 Mhz of Omnia II and the Snapdragon QSD8250 1Ghz there is a big difference in daily use? theoretically video playback should be the same for standard definition, or not? and windows mobile is almost equally fast for both the processors, or not? where should i see the benefits of Snapdragon?
Thank you very much (and sorry for my bad English)
Bye
Hi,
Samsung didn't announce anything about WinMo 6.5.x upgrades, so I wouldn't bet on it.
Registering at Modaco is free, and the ROMs posted there from Secany are semi-official, some kind of development snapshots from Samsung, and they are getting better and better Maybe Secany will post them here also in the future...
Finally to the difference between the ARM and the snapdragon: With the snapdragon everything will run faster than with the ARM. Especially starting Apps but probably also stuff like viewing pictures. Video playback will mainly depend on the video hardware which has nothing to do with the main processor. As far as the Omnia II is concerned, playback in SD is as smooth as it can get and I didn't notice any significant lags, except for Samsung's own main menu (which you really don't need).
ok, thank you very much WebReaper21 !!!

Nonsense. "Snapdragon" is market name of RISC-architecture CPU with ARM instruction set.
Compare these links, if you have any doubts:

These are some nice links. I was referring to the specific Processors as mentioned in the first post (ARM for the OMNIA 2, Snapdragon as in the HD2, I presume). While both processors may have an ARM instruction set, the Snapdragon has a newer and in most applications faster architecture AFAIK.
Please correct me if I'm wrong there...

I'm not kind of geek to tell you if you're wrong or not The only one think I'm sure is that, Snapdragon is way faster than S3C6410. But don't ask me how it does
I think it's time for EOT
WM ROM for Samsung Omnia LITE (GT-B7300)
I'm sorry if this isn't the best spot for this question but I'm doing my best to not clutter up the board with a new thread dedicated to what I'm hoping will be a simple answer.
While in Thailand my girlfriend purchased a Samsung Omnia LITE or GT-B7300, which you can see more of at pdadb.net (search for the GT-B7300, I'd provide a link but as I'm a new account I cannot do that yet. The phone came with a WM 6.5 English and Thai ROM and I'd like to get either...
1. An English and Chinese ROM (preferable so Google Maps works while in Beijing).
2. A way to add on Chinese characters so texts and programs can do simplified Chinese.
I've not see any mention of this phone on XDA; any suggestions on where to get the right ROM or at least have the right character set put on the phone?

I read somewhere (reliable) that someone got an WM6.5.3 update in a Samsung Service Centre, so I believe this version is comming soon
Hi all,
I am planning to upgrdae to WinMo 6.5 through the official update, I have a few questions..
1. Is there a possibility to rollback to 6.1 from 6.5 (without flashing it with custom Roms)
2. Is it faster then 6.1
There are some official 6.1 roms, but you can flash it only with Octans or Octans Mini.
6.5 is a bit slower than 6.1 and has memory leaks.
you don't have to pay to get'em form modaco but it is kinda hard to install them.
There is unofficial service update to win 6.5.3 by Samsung. Version build 23103. This is not public service test update. Don't ask me how i knew that, just believe - wersion 6.5.3 is coming soon.
Is it possible to obtain this update?

In fact, it seems that JD1 ROM is 6.5.3....
Correct, it is.
flashed and using for about a week now and it works great way fast. Using a lite ROM and get 98MB free on fresh boot and 70MB with SPB
The builds starting with 253 were part of the COM3 builds wasn't it?
I wonder how long it'll take verizon to butcher it..
I just can't see flashing this phone until a stock rom is available.
Still looking for other radios too for my community project...

[Q] Windows 7 Phone?

This may sound dumb/noobish, is it possible to port win 7 phone OS to our poor HTC Touches?
My brother said, only 2 things you will require.........1. New processor and 2. new ram
ofcourse I understood wht he meant.............
still i wish to ask if anyone is experimenting?n is it possible to make a rom?which we can flash just like we do wid 6.5 n others?
im quite excited over this..........would any one tell me if it is possible?
You'll have to cool down, your bro means you need another phone to handle win7 requirements- around 5 times more than Elfin. Bottom line: No

wp10 for htc hd2

hey guy, microsoft has just annauced that wp7 user will get wp10 update for wp7 devices. So i want to know is there any chance of wp10 for our legendry htc hd2?
are you joking??? today not 1. April
HD2 hardware is barely enough for WP7.... is impossible to use WP8 and WP10
and the noobs start their questions XD
dear dxdy, dont make fun of others...if u dont want to reply, simply igonre it....i dont know whats ur problem? Hd2 can run all the versions of android including lollipop...so my question is just obivous .....whats wrong in that? I m just asking abt posibility......
if hd2 hardware is old and cant run wp10 then why they made annauncement? Hd2 and hd7 both r old infact all wp7 devices r old....
i belive nothing is impossible for our legendery htc hd2......i hope hd2 will run wp10 very soon.

you can hope but reality is something else... HD2 cant run WP8 or 10
simply few facts why is impossible:
WP7 ROM approximate size is 350 MB, WP8 is 2,5 GB... HD2 only have 512 MB for ROM...
HD2 only support max 448 MB RAM, WP8 need 512 minimum...
average speed of memory on WP8 devices is 8-10x faster than faster WP7 device
WP7 is WinCE based OS, WP 8/10 is Win NT...
hardware is incompatible to WP8/10 drivers
and many other things but i write most important

you make fun with your post and "microsoft announces"... this is LIE, fake news and your post cant be treated as serious.... i simply give you truth...
when you try real WP8 device in your hand then you see how HD2 is bad and slow... i sold my HD2 22 moths ago and purchased WP8 device and this is my best thing what i do to rid this ****
i simply can agree with u for some of requirements but not in case of RAM , its 576 mb for my hd2.........but i m still confuse...if its not possible then why there r so many news on wp10 for wp7....if u dont trust me, simply google it....and u wil find the same.
finally i know that android is better than wp....although i like wp, all android rom r just 200 mb or 300 mb....but wp rom r so heavy its arround 2.5 gb...OMG!.......Infact lollipop rom is just 400mb.....my hd2 showing 1gb of internal storage.
Well, some corrections have to be made...
- The HD2 has 576 MB RAM, not 448. ALL HD2s. It only depends on the radio ROM that's flashed in, so it's obviously only a matter of internal management / software limitation to justify different price policies, or something like that...
But talking about custom ROMs, we're obviously not talking about any limitated stock ROM, so the argument is completely pointless.
- The HD7 hardware was 100% identical to the HD2's, except for a better OLED screen, period.
So pretending the HD2 hardware is barely enough for WP7 is just absurd.
Now of course, it doesn't have a modern quad core, and better hardware came to the market in the meanwhile, but the HD2's Snpadragon has been the best available basis for several years, and a huge lot of Android and WP7 / WP8 devices came with nothing better to run them anyway.
The question is therefore not that stupid, unless WP10 is clearly compatible with only the latest quad core processors, which of course is a possibility, but I'm not working at Microsoft's, so I won't be affirmative without precise knowledge.
- Now about ROM space, the puny European versions 512 MB capacity is bothering me everyday (the T-Mobile US models have 1 GB ROM - I'd definitely have adopted one if it didn't lack the 900 MHz 3G channel we're using here for outback coverage), but WP7 uses a different approach : both the internal and external (micro SD, though hidden on WP devices, but still there) are formatted in one bulk (NTFS dynamic partition style), so WP is definitely NOT limitated to only the internal ROM. You just have no avoid removing the micro SD, but all WP users should know that...
So please check for accurate information before looking down on people.
Actually, don't look down on people, period. Instead, try to argue politely with correct information, it won't kill you anyway.
Thanks.
but at end is impossible. period. WP8 or 10 is impossible to have on HD2...
too old and too low hardware... how HD2 is bad with WP7 you see when you compare to original WP7 devices...
MODS PLEASE CLOSE THIS STUPID TOPIC
I think kalpeshchavan is confusing two different stories.
Windows 10 is a multiplatform OS, PCs and phones.
MS has said that most WP8 users will be offered upgrade to Windows 10.
MS has also said that Windows 7 and Windows 8 users on PCs will also be offered an upgrade.
AFAIK they have said nothing about WP7 users getting any upgrade at all.

I see no possibility of hd2 running windows 10. Please re-read my post.
I can understand dxdy's frustration in answering questions such as these. dxdy has provided support for our hd2 for years, including answering many of your own questions in the recent past and, as posted, does not even own a hd2 any more.
I think you are confusing Windows 7, which will get an upgrade to Windows 10, with Windowsphone 7, which will not get any upgrade.
thanks robbie p, ......i think u r right.....windows 10 upgrade will be available for windows 7,8, 8.1 but only for pc OS......thanks for making me clear....Initially, i was confused with wp10 for wp7 but not now ....thanks

To be really honest, i think no.
The HTC HD2 is too old and too slow for it. WPH8.1 is shown for the HD2, but not for development, because it is too slow and because it is a really big os. Since my HD2 is still my daily driver, i want a fast and clean rom. But WPH8.1 is just too big. I don't like to say it, but our HD2's are getting more and more outdated. There are a lot of android rom's for it. But all above 4.0 are not really fast. I installed whatsapp on a lot of roms, and they coudn't even handle that!

So you were confused .. wasting time of everyone and then asking them to be polite ??? how about you google things on your own instead of asking others to do that .. Shame that such low IQ ppl exist .. I am not being rude ..just stating a fact and wheen someone starts giving them straightforward answers they start crying rude.. foul etc etc ..
