Removing Manila in osKitchen - Windows Mobile

I've been playing around with oskitchen building my first ROM. I've been searching like crazy and can't find the answers I need. Since this is my first attempt at cooking I'm modding the stock AT&T Tilt2 ROM (21849) from the HTC website and have a couple questions..
1. I only use Titanium and don't want Manila cooked into the ROM. I've found Manila_ATT_2_1_19183217_0 in the EXT tab of oskitchen and unchecked the box. Is this all I have to do to keep Manila from being cooked in?
2. This stock ROM has NETCF 2.0 in the SYS and I'd like to replace it with 3.5. How would I do that? Rip a 3.5 folder out of another build and place it in my SYS folder?
3. I recmodded the packages as instructed in this post in the kitchen thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5714524&postcount=439
are there any other dll folders I need to recmod?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1- Exactly.
2- Exactly. Or just find a NETCF package. I've seen it somewhere.
3- No, if you have native 6.5 NK And tilt2 has it. Also search for it somewhere and rapleace it in your kitchen. (if it is not here already) (Assuming you want to use 6.5 builds, otherwise simply ignore this.)

Thanks a lot for the info! Getting close to cooking this thing. Yes, I'm using 6.5 and osKitchen tells me that it is a native kernel.
I found this post...
http://www.mobileunderground.info/showthread.php?t=3841
and was wondering if it was safe to de-select any of the packages listed there that are dependent on Manila, since Manila is not going to be installed on my ROM. I am checking to see which manila-dependent packages in my build correspond to ones on that list. So far the ones I am unsure of are..
Contact Utility Engine
HTCFontLink
NewContactCard
Any others I can safely remove? Also going through and removing HTC apps/utilities I don't use. Its a PITA searching for these individually so i can find out what they do.. I started this thing over a week ago lol. So far I've removed..
SignatureReplace - sigs in email and messages
Redial - used for redialing through BT headset
PTT - safe to remove?
MenuEnhancement - from what I gather is for the fullscreen menus..
LockscreenAppLauncher (removing this will keep the WM lockscreen?)
HACSetting - for hearing impaired people
FullScreenPlayer - for use with htc album
FacebookEngine - for Manila
Audio Manager
Album - HTC Album
App_Service
Oh yea... and how do I determine the page pool size?
Thanks for any and all info.

Baby steps lol. I'm new to this cooking thing so I wanted to start off modding the ROM it came with since I've been using it for a while and I have a decent idea of what I want changed. I have a lot to learn and I also wanted to know I wouldn't miss on anything carrier specific for my phone, keyboard and other features to work.. I have downloaded this file which is I believe the RhodS2 you are referring to..
RUU_Rhodium_S2_Orange_CH-DE_2.08.72.1_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.91_Signed_Ship.7z
I want to get comfortable working with things first. When I finish this ROM I'll start playing with that one. My Tilt2 is my only phone other than some POS SciPhone i68+ I have laying around so if I mess it up I'm up the creek lol. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. I'm sure I'll have some more soon

Watch out removing PTT, it may break your Dialer. AT&T has PTT tied to the dialer somehow.

Touch Flo v.3.0 available on HD?

Simple question.
I've read about the new features of the 3rd version of Touch Flo (on the upcoming HTC Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2) and they are quite interesting.
I just wondered whether by any chance this new version could be installed on the HTC HD (once it's out of course)
Thx

well... i always do my home work before posting, that is why i did ask question...i could not find any cab, and believe me i spent hours looking throughout our gigantic forum...
if u know location where such cab is hiding from my eyes please share it with us.
There is no "cab" install and there never will be.
This isn't just an application you install on your phone - it's a complete system overhaul, with new TF3D, with all new and / or updated system applications: phone, calendar, contacts, call history, calculator, browser etc.
Let me illustrate however the difference between the stock ROM and the custom cooked ROM's available here on XDA. It's like going from Skoda to latest Ferrari.
That means you'll get a lot of great looking stuff, many cool applications already included, everything will be as new as possible, you'll be running at MUCH faster speed, but you also have to accept that you'll "burn more gas" - battery life may take a small impact.
Is it worth it? Well, it's like you bought a new device, so - yes.

If you flash a ROM that already includes the new manila it will probably be alot smoother because the ROM will be optimized and tweaked for it! If you install it over the old Manila it probably won't give you the best experience... Also, the newer ROMs not only include the new Manila, but also things like finger-friendly menus!
really is that true???

I'm pretty new to all this as well and had a lot of difficulty figuring it out! What I think happens is this: The ROM is a bit like the BIOS so you can't modify it within WM6.1. Also, the original ROMs are protected so you can't replace them with an unofficial version (they are signed).
To get around this, you can use something like Hard SPL (which overwrites the existing ROM) or USPL (which works around it).
I finally went with USPL2.5 and Dutty's extreme ROM v2.6.
Incidentally, I'm not really noticing much of a speed improvement... Especially with the music player which now takes a second to load up... Am I meant to?

Where are the programs?

Hi guys,
Ive downloaded Touch-ITs very good touch flo and so started to download other programs. So far ive done the keyboard and that works a treat.
Problem is ive downloaded the mp3 trimmer and social network engine installed them but cant find them anywhere...how do i access them? can these be used as tabs on the touchflo screen as i really like the interface?

mp3trimmer already comes WITH itje's rom. no need to install it again. which "social network engine" are you talking about?
you'll find all programs if you click "start" (upper left) and then "all programs" (lower left).
I used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442154 to get the cabs and installed them. Cant find the option to trim MP3s at all. and i downloaded the Touch-It Blackstone Social Network engine. Any ideas?
Im hoping that by downloading the engine that the social networking sites would pop up under the internet tab where youtube is...you know where i mean?
oh, my mistake. you installed the cab and not his rom with manila cooked in...
okay, i'm sorry, but i never used stock rom with manila-cab. but i can tell you this:
- manila works best if cooked in, use a custom rom (i.e. itje's touch-it v.10. but there are many good roms, have a look in the rom-developing-part)
- the cab you used is from november 2008, there's a newer version out now
- "social engine": never saw it in the internet tab, it connects your contacts with a corresponding facebook-friend.
so, bottom line:
programs should show where i told you above, even in the cab i think. and: manila as a cab is slow, cooked-in it flies these days.

typing this from my mobile, so to keep it short:
- you need to apply "hard-spl" first to flash a custom rom (it's a sticky)
- if you're flashing itje's v.10.2, be aware that there is a bug for some people with sending sms. i NEVER had it though. also you'll need to apply 2 or 3 fixes.
- READ READ READ!
if you're going to flash ANY custom rom you'll have to learn a lot. "just install and everything's perfect" won't work. and everytime you flash a new rom you'll loose all data on your phone, so make backup first!!!
if you're willing to get into this - do it. it's worth it and it will really improve your x1. if you want to have everything working out of the box with many restrictions - apple makes such a device...
Ill let you know how i get on, im just loading 10.2 now so we shall see

hope you did a backup of your data - if not, don't come yelling if it's all gone...
edit: the fixes needed
since the thread on v10 is pretty much to read (it started as v7...), for starters the 3 fixes needed with this version.
- Advanced Network (found in itje's first post, under the dl-link for the rom itself)
- "v10.2_corrected_highlights.zip" (also posted by itje, somewhere in the thread, search for it)
extract the files in these two zips to your \windows-directory (on your x1) with total commander (comes with the rom)
- v10.2_smaberg_1_percent_battery.cab (install normally. this fixes a bug that the battery-meter always shows 100% full. alternatively you could install another icon-set from this forum. watch out if they're for WinMob 6.1 or 6.5 though!)
the cooked-in build of opera mobile 9.5 doesn't work with the hardware-keyboard of xperia. either install build 16194 (iit's from an official x1-rom) or try opera mobile 9.7 beta.
every other question you should ask in the thread of the rom you've chosen.
this should set you up, from here on it's all tweaking, lots of reading, learning and adding apps to your likeness.
i have a problem like this one: i installed the touch it manila cab and then i installed the touch it htc album but... i cannot find the program... what do i have to do?
EDIT: ok i found two exe files in the windows folder wich are : HTCAlbum.exe and AlbumSearch.exe, and when i run each of them i have HTC Album... btw the problem is that i have no text in the menus... what may be the problem?
Thanks for all the advice guys...im installed and up and running and so far so good, no issues at all, the sms seems to be working fine etc.
Ill apply the fixes as noted so far as and when i come across the issues!
Cheers again all

[Files requested] Manila 2.5 bluetooth headset control + HTC Audio

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones by Sony (DR-BT21G) with media controls (AVRCP). This has always worked perfectly with the HTC Audio Manager throughout many ROMS (the default and Dutty's) but I upgraded to WM6.5 this weekend and it no longer works. Now, any time I try to use the controls, Windows Media Player fires up and takes over. Is there any way to change this or to manually set this back to the HTC Audio Manager? Listening to music is probably what I do most with my HD so this is probably reason enough for me to go back to a different ROM if I can't figure this out.
I've searched like crazy and it seems to happen to the WM6.5 Energy ROMs too, so it must be a general WM6.5/Manilla problem. So far, I've tried looking through all the settings in HD Tweak and Advanced Config, as well as changing the 0 and 1 keys in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:WMPLAYER to point to AudioManager_Eng.exe, but none of that worked.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Edit: Slowly, it seems to be becoming clearer that the Bluetooth Driver might be (part of) the solution. Any assistance in getting different versions of the BTHCI.DLL file or more insight would be great! If you have a Manila 2.5 ROM with working bluetooth control, please take a minute to share your driver with us!
I have exactly the same problem and I've posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566157&highlight=AVRCP

Same here with Dutty R5.
A fix would be great.
I worked pretty hard at trying to find a solution but to no avail. I found that there's a key in the registry that refers to a bluetooth plugin for WMP, but deleting it had no effect and I don't think there's a simple way to get rid of the actual plugin. Doing so also still doesn't guarantee that AudioManager will take over. Maybe if someone takes the time to try swapping out files between (for example) Dutty's WM6.1 v4.3 and Dutty's WM6.5 Leo R5, it might work. Particularly, swapping out AudioManager_Eng.exe and all WMP files and registry settings might work. Just an idea! I'd do it myself, but considering crazy work hours, my need for a working phone and problems I've been having with 6.5 it will be a while before I can do more on this.
I was also using Dutty's Leo R5 but due to major stability issues which seemed to be primarily related to importing contacts and texts (through either PIM or "My Phone"). I'll miss the twitter tab and all the neat features of the new manila and WM6.5 improvements but for now Dutty's v4.3 Final is just so much faster, more reliable and doesn't have the bluetooth problem.
Unless some smart guy figures this one out, I think we can best just hope for it to be resolved in a future rom with a fix in the new Manila.
The question for me is: Is this problem on all 6.5 ROMs??? I thought I had tried a 6.5 ROM before without this issue... but I might be wrong...
Am I right in assuming you returned to Dutty's 6.1 ROM? Because then I would flash a 6.5 ROM and we could test replacing files: You upload them here and I try replacing them on my Blackstone!
Update: I just flashed PhamQuang's V67 (a 6.5 ROM with Manila 2.1) - and guess what: My BT-headset controls the TF3D music player!
So maybe this is not a 6.1 vs. 6.5 problem, but rather a Manila 2.1 vs. 2.5 problem? Or it just depends on what ROM you are using and if the cook has done his magic correctly?
Great news! I'm glad you have it working and it narrows the problem down a bit.
So it seems that for now, bluetooth music lovers should steer clear of M2.5. I'd think it's a Manila 2.5 problem considering it works on all Manila 2.1 versions I've tried so far and on PhamQuang's V67 ROM with WM6.5 that you're using. I still wonder if swapping files between Manila 2.1 and 2.5 would be possible, but after using WM6.1 and Manila 2.1 for a day I'm hooked on the speed and won't be going back to Manila 2.5 until some major speed improvements have been made. (Or am I mistaken and is WM6.5 the laggy culprit?)
Considering you have your headset working with PhamQuang's V67 and it runs WM6.5, I'd like to wander off topic a bit and ask how you like that one? Has it been fast and stable so far? I've been pretty happy and faithful to Dutty's work but if there's something better out there (with working bluetooth to HTC's AM) I'm definitely game! I especially miss the smoother kinetic scrolling of WM6.5 and the wonderful Twitter tab in Manila 2.5. I guess I'll just have to be patient for that last one considering it seems you can't have everything.
Fix. thx to Gooru from xda-developers.info
Awesome! Thanks NewFolk! I'm glad there's a solution and hopefully it will help anyone who's searching for it. I can't test whether it works on Dutty's Leo R5 at the moment but I'll take your word for it
At least this is one less reason to avoid WM6.5 + M2.5!

PhamQuang's ROMs aren't the fastest ones out there, which is why I'll switch to a different 6.5 ROM or back to Topix (the best 6.1 ROM I've tried) as soon as I get my LCD replacement (I managed to break my LCD screen while attempting to exchange the touchscreen... )

Didn't work for me on Miri's V10, still launching WMP. Still looking for a solution.
Wow, sorry to hear about your screen, MAMeingast. I wouldn't dare attempt that with my dear HD, although I do wish it had a capacitive screen. I haven't touched my stylus in months.
If I can get Sashimi to do decent backups and automated installs, I might be able to experiment with ROMs more freely, but for now XML provisioning and other settings restorations don't seem to work well and reflashing and configuring still takes a few hours each time. I might try a full backup of my current setup this weekend and test a few Manila 2.5 ROMs. Maybe I can pinpoint what the differences are between the working and non-working BT configurations are and make a cab to fix it. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a method to monitor file or registry key access so I can't see what's active during BT headset pairing. In other words, getting that together will have to be a pretty labor intensive process.
The cab file simply contains a version of the BTHCI.dll driver file. I haven't been able to find Gooru's original post (using Google translate considering the site's all Russian), so I don't know which ROM(s) the cab file is meant for, where the file comes from or which build of WM it is included in. A quick search turned up this post by Da_G from way back in May, noting that the 216xx WM6.5 build comes with a BTHCI.dll version that isn't bound to WMP. How the binding is done isn't clear to me, but it's possible that the currently running media player (usually AudioManager_Eng.exe) would accept the input without extra configuration. If people can grab that version (see below) and post results here (or any other versions for that matter... it can't hurt to try more!), we could see if it fixes the problem. It's starting to look like that file is indeed the culprit, so good news there!
Thinking out loud: If it turns out to be more than just the driver, I might try replacing the dll on Dutty's Leo R5 first, followed by others until I find a Manila 2.5 that the cab file fixes. If that works, I can dump the file system and registry before the fix, and the file system and registry of other uncabbed ROMs to see if a general fix can be made and hopefully pass that along to Dutty and the other cooks to add to future releases. If anyone is running a Manila 2.5, please try installing the cab and posting your results. It would be additionally helpful to let us know which version (or date and size) your original BTHCI.dll is.

I'm sorry to hear that. Naturally, I hoped someone had come up with a general fix, but we'll keep looking. I changed the topic title back from [Solved] considering it didn't work for you. If you find out more, let us know! Maybe you can help with the dll questions, considering you're running a 2.5 ROM.
Edit: Found a download of the proposed older working BTHCI.dll! Try the cab from this post and let us know if it works for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3807872&postcount=114
It should be uninstallable, but I still recommend backing up your original. You can never be too careful, right?
neither #8, nor #12 can fix my problem, ROM udk Leo R3. still looking for solution...

Hi elammertsma,
I've already tried the T-Back 6.5 BT Driver.cab, still launches WMP so I'm guessing there's more to this than just the version of BTHCI.dll. The BTHCI.dll included in Miri's V10 ROM is dated 01/10/09 16:31 (although that may be the date I installed the ROM, not sure) and is 63K in size. Hope this helps.
seems the bthci.dll is a rom file, and prevent copy? I try to copy the file from a rom which headset could interface with manila audiomanager, but fail - say the file in not allow to copy...

You'll need to use another file manager like Total Commander or Resco File Explorer to copy the BTHCI.dll file

I'm using the Resco, but still same problem. Properties of the bthci.dll is checked for hide/ready/sys/rom. It can not be seen both in WM file explorer and Resco, but in Resco search for the name you can find it. I try to copy via Resco, it said copy fail...

For mine:
1. BTfix.cab, still activate WMP, and seems no change at all.
- I try WMP, my headset is still interface with it, works well.
- Manila audio - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
- CorePlayer - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
2. T-Back 6.5 BT Driver.cab, not activate the WMP any more, and others unchanged.
- I try WMP, need manually open WMP first, and my headset is still interface with it, works well.
- Manila audio - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
- CorePlayer - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
being a bluetoth headphones ower to i ued the htc audio player too. im using nrgz photon rom 11.10.09 manilla 2.1. the default launched audio player from headphones is media player. tried this fix it dont fix it. yes i know its for m.2.5 i was just hoping it would work.
guess i will have to make playlists there instead. i remember there being issues with Wmp it wouldnt recognise all my content. like eminem album i got from play.com. all my own cd rips are good though lol. i will post a fix if i find one. i got a cab. the for s2p which is called tback but all that does is the opposite and unlocks the htc audiomanager and reverts to WMP or s2p. ive looked at nitrogen but unable to find anyway to make headphones work.
My Observations on this
Now my observations on this is that it was not happening on NRG Leo release 14092009 (think it may have been the last Genisis version). We know that NRG's rom platform on 23016 is rock solid as he has stated that many times so I'm suspecting it must be something in the lastest M2.5 version 1919xxx or another package addition as it seems to be effecting all the current Roms running this version of the Leo Manilla. I'm really suspecting that it is something in the way M2.5 HTC audio player is interfacing with WMP but that is just my humble non technical opinion
Can't find if BT stack has been updated in all of this. Bit of a bugger as I have the same issue in the my current version 23092009 release and it is also in the 11102009 release. Hope NRG can take a look at this as I use my BT headset constantly or my bit helps in some small way in finding a solution. In the meantime I'm falling way back to 14092009 NRG Leo version.

[Solved] Messaging not working at all with 28230 and latest Rhodium OEMs

Hi guys!
I'm a bit afraid of asking...but anyway.
I'm cooking for the Xperia X1 right now using osKitchen (newUI). The Kitchen is great and I already figured out a lot of tweaks. Currently I am using Build 28230 SYS/XIP and everything is fine. Except for one thing: Messaging is not working at all!
I can start the tmail.exe and see the account-selector. but I cannot open or compose a new message. Both email and text is affected. I already tried to leave out some OEMs that I do not need (cooking a ROM without Manila 2.5 but some HTC tools) but with no success.
Is some component missing for this or is one of the OEMs just incompatible? Of course I am not using the HTC Message_Enhancment, as it is slow and I do not like it...
Does anyone have an idea of what is going one / wrong here? Any help is appreciated
Thanks a lot!

There is a module that you left out called webview.dll. Without this, you cannot see or compose any new mail/messages. It should be located either in BROWSING or in the root of the SYS.
Add it again in your kitchen and you will be in good shape again
Good luck!
Thanks man! You were right, I accidently forgot this package... I probably would never have found the real reason for this. Thanks a lot. I'm cooking now and reporting later after flash
OK, that fixed the problem! I am now able to read text messages and create new ones. Anyway, wenn I click compose the window opens but nothing is clickable. the whole app seems to be "locked" somehow. WM icons and menus are working even though...
What a mess Any further suggestions?
I think I found the fix. I used the latest SPRINT Rhodium ROM to get my sources and this is for cdma radio. Probably some cdma-specific packages caused the secon problem. Thanks anyway

Did you manage to find out the specific CDMA packages causing your sms problem?
I'm using packages from "RUU_Oboe_Dopod_CHS_1.04.706.2_Radio_0.90.00.0 826_ Ship" for my WWE Topaz and Rhodium using 25027. I don't cook in HTC message and HTC messenging client, i.e. just using MS email, when I want to create a new SMS, the SMS app closes. I tried using 24631 and got the same issue, that's why I narrowed the problem down to the Oboe packages.
I've read the above about the webview.dll, which is there. I also have arcsoft. So what else is causing my problem?
I think your problem is not related to webview.dll at all. If you have some time my advice would be to cook a clean ROM with everything working and then enable all packages which could cause the issue one by one. This means a lot of flashing and testing, but I cannot tell you which package caued the problem...and I would suspect several packages in combination.
Sorry that might not be as helpfull as you expected :-(

HTC Home Customizer?

Is there something like the old HTC Home Customizer that will work for the Touch Pro2? I've spent the last hour wading through this forum trying to find a way to replace the awful, 1970's flippy clock with a simple digital clock.
Is there a solution ?

If Sense == Manila, then the programs mentioned are of no help. I have Manila 2.1, and already screwed up the phone once trying to use a 2.5 program.
I hope someone doesn't chime in "Well just flash a new ROM." Unless someone can show me a compelling reason, (and a detailed list of the changes it would introduce), I'm not interested in doing that.
You need to update your signiture so that we know what you're running first of all

Manila Sense 2.1 / 2.5 *Updated March 11, 2010*
looks fairly simple:
-Steps for Sense 2.5 2012 Installation (INSTALL ALL TO DEVICE MEMORY):
1. Install .net 3.5
2. Install SDKCerts
3. Disable Auto Phone Shutoff:
-If on battery power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and uncheck Turn off device if not used for
-If on external power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and uncheck Turn off device if not used for
4. Disable TF3D 2.0 (Go to Start/Settings/Today/Items and uncheck HTC Sense or TF3D)
5. Soft Reset
6. InstallSense 2.5 2012 CFC / Sense 2.5 2012 CFC Mirror (CFC Compressed and includes all fixes. Once settled in, it runs very well! It also includes some new tabs and many tweaks/goodies! Plus, the multimedia key is now mapped to rotate the screen)
7. Soft Reset
8. Once everything is loaded and stable:
Enable Auto Phone Shutoff:
-If on battery power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and check Turn off device if not used for
-If on external power: Settings\System\Power\Advanced and check Turn off device if not used for

That never occurred to me. I have the forum set to not display sigs, since I find some just annoying. I usually try to give all that info in the initial post. I'm running a TP2 with WM 6.5 upgrade and Manila 2.1

I had looked at that thread earlier, but all the clocks are still flippy type. Hasn't anyone done straight digital clocks for Manila? Something like tjis from older phones?

My issue with flashing ROMS isn't difficulty, it's having a definitive reason to do so, and finding a clear description of the changes in the ROM.
Thanks for the tip on installing manila 2.5. Didn't know that could be done. But looking at a comparison of 2.1 and 2.5, I don't see an advantage, and see a couple of disadvantages.

There is an EVO ROM that has a customizer built in by the cook. I used that ROM for a little while, but really like the customizer, you could change the flip clock, analog clock, clock background, font and other things. This was a really nice feature. I have searched for an add-on or standalone app that I could install that would do this as well. Customizing is the main thing we are ALL trying to do here.
Anybody had any luck with this?!
