[Solved] Messaging not working at all with 28230 and latest Rhodium OEMs - Windows Mobile

Hi guys!
I'm a bit afraid of asking...but anyway.
I'm cooking for the Xperia X1 right now using osKitchen (newUI). The Kitchen is great and I already figured out a lot of tweaks. Currently I am using Build 28230 SYS/XIP and everything is fine. Except for one thing: Messaging is not working at all!
I can start the tmail.exe and see the account-selector. but I cannot open or compose a new message. Both email and text is affected. I already tried to leave out some OEMs that I do not need (cooking a ROM without Manila 2.5 but some HTC tools) but with no success.
Is some component missing for this or is one of the OEMs just incompatible? Of course I am not using the HTC Message_Enhancment, as it is slow and I do not like it...
Does anyone have an idea of what is going one / wrong here? Any help is appreciated
Thanks a lot!

There is a module that you left out called webview.dll. Without this, you cannot see or compose any new mail/messages. It should be located either in BROWSING or in the root of the SYS.
Add it again in your kitchen and you will be in good shape again
Good luck!

Thanks man! You were right, I accidently forgot this package... I probably would never have found the real reason for this. Thanks a lot. I'm cooking now and reporting later after flash

OK, that fixed the problem! I am now able to read text messages and create new ones. Anyway, wenn I click compose the window opens but nothing is clickable. the whole app seems to be "locked" somehow. WM icons and menus are working even though...
What a mess Any further suggestions?

I think I found the fix. I used the latest SPRINT Rhodium ROM to get my sources and this is for cdma radio. Probably some cdma-specific packages caused the secon problem. Thanks anyway

Did you manage to find out the specific CDMA packages causing your sms problem?
I'm using packages from "RUU_Oboe_Dopod_CHS_1.04.706.2_Radio_0.90.00.0 826_ Ship" for my WWE Topaz and Rhodium using 25027. I don't cook in HTC message and HTC messenging client, i.e. just using MS email, when I want to create a new SMS, the SMS app closes. I tried using 24631 and got the same issue, that's why I narrowed the problem down to the Oboe packages.
I've read the above about the webview.dll, which is there. I also have arcsoft. So what else is causing my problem?

I think your problem is not related to webview.dll at all. If you have some time my advice would be to cook a clean ROM with everything working and then enable all packages which could cause the issue one by one. This means a lot of flashing and testing, but I cannot tell you which package caued the problem...and I would suspect several packages in combination.
Sorry that might not be as helpfull as you expected :-(

[REQ] HTC message enhancement plugin to complement the new Tachi dailer (you will not

Was wondering if anyone knew how to get the new HTC message enhancement plugin to complement the new Tachi dailer on our phones? (touch pro's)
I know that NRGZ28 has it in his newest rom, but I was wondering if it could be ported an made into a cab or something?? Well it would be nice if someone could make this work on our devices using TF3D Manila 2 as it would be a nice extra for all of us....
Here's a screen shot of what I mean..
http://energy.wub.nu/ROMs/Raphael/Sc...nilaEmail2.png
I think it needs to be in the ROM, and can't be installed after.
In case that link above doesn't work for some reason.....try this one,
http://energy.wub.nu/ROMs/Raphael/Screenshots/ManilaEmail2.png
Well then since it can't be installed via cab, we'll need a working package. I tried cooking in Rhodium, Topaz and Tachi and could not get any of them to work with the Rhodium Manila Port and Tachi canvas combination.
If I had to guess, there's probably a provxml somewhere that writes the needed registry not included in the actual packages to make this work.
On another note, I'm willing to bet we're missing one or more packages this depends on to work properly.

I've tried installing the version from all 3 devices via cab. It doesn't work regardless. I've also tried cooking in all 3 versions and flashing 3 separate times. That didn't work for me either.
I have a feeling that there is a dependency, a small package or multiple packages, that we need in order to get it to work that we're overlooking.
I imagine that if we knew what was needed to make it cook in properly, it could be installed via cab successfully as well. But this is pure speculation.

WOW well thats good to hear that you have been trying to get this working!!!
shyt, I wonder what it is thats not allowing it to work?? Maybe you can ask/talk to NGRZ28 about it since hes got it in his rom?? cause it would be nice to be able to call the person right from the email with the phone icon in it an get to whatever other features from there ya know... when you said you tried all those methods, when you went into your email what happened or what did you see?? or does it show up but just doesnt work?? I know last I heard NRGZ28 said he was having issues with the "To:" part of the email not working etc..
Hey Thunder Dan lol AKA DHARVEY
I seen it over @ xECK29x new rom and its the new MessageEnhancement 1.0.19142725.01 I believe....
this is what im talking about...
http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/883/screen06s.jpg
Do you think we can get this to while where at it lol....
Hey I look at this way, the more updated features we have the better NO???
quiet here...no one has any interest in this??
Nothing?
Did anyone ever get anywhere with this? I have 4 cabs that install the messaging enhancement that replaces M$ stock messaging(if that is what you guys are talking about) but when i sintall it, i no longer get messages nor am i able to send them

[SOLVED] Incoming call position fix

Hi Guys,
I cooked a WM6.5.5 ROM build 23541 based on RUU_Rhodium_S2_HTC_Europe_2.07.401.1
Most of things currently works perfectly, with the exception to the incoming call screen position. This is a small gap from the top which looks not very good.
I tried to apply fixes ex. here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5910397#post5910397
This solved for me the scroll bar and the softpad overlap issues but the incoming call screen is still wrongly positioned.
Could anybody help me in solving this issue?
Thank you in advance and best regards!

You should replace
cprog.exe
pimstore.dll
tpcutil.dll
from 235xx builds.
Pre-tested on 28232, 23106, 21636
At 23106 and 21636 should be replaced and lockscreen.dll

he said he was cooking 23541, why should he replace those dll files to fix position of incoming call screen? i assume the "fix" you are telling him to do is for the caller id problem with 231xx, 216xx, ect. but that isnt what he was asking.
as for helping you Lissek, sorry but i dont know a solution and as far as i know nobody has figured it out yet. you can try opening phcanrc.dll and some of the other dlls in the phone canvas pkg with a resource editor like restorator, this is how the scrollbar on dialpad was fixed...maybe there is something that can be done im just not sure.

yes you are right
i just read it fast..
do you have fix for 6.5.x and landscape incoming call?
First of all thank you guys for your help!
twopumpchump, I flashed your ROM and I see that you don't have a problem with incoming call screen position in your ROM. This is positioned perfectly well.
Mine is positioned a little bit too low and I simply see the fragment of the screen with the operator name in that gap.
I have that problem only on incoming call screen, dialer is positioned ok.
I tried to compare dialogs from phcanrc.dll you use with the one with my ROM and I see no difference.
Have you ever observed that in your ROMs?
Might it be related to the kitchen I use? I don't think so, but.. when I use osKitchen my ROM boots ok, but when I use EVK my ROM hangs on the first use screen once the progress bar reaches the end.

you are using fix from alex this package:
PACKAGE_RHODIUM_S2_Phone_Canvas_Enhancement_Fix_4_ 2_51720111829_0
and you still have the problem???? :S
B16b: unfortunately yes... I applied alex fix, but this solved only scroll bar and softpad overlap but NOT incoming screen position...
maybe you are using dialer from quilin or another? this is not a very big issue, but you know, I'm quite curious how to fix ;-)
anyway, I flashed recent NRGZ28 energy rom and saw that he has the same problem, so maybe this is somehow generic problem...
but at least I have my own 23554 based on EUR stock ROM, quite stable, and only with modifications that I really need and like
best regards b16b!

Hi twopumpchump
We may use different ROM base and/or different patches... Maybe you use some solution like ameba for windows repositioning? But once again thanks a lot for your willing to help in solving the problem
Please find my file attached, the change is one byte at the address 1E494 (from 0x34 to 0x23).

Removing Manila in osKitchen

I've been playing around with oskitchen building my first ROM. I've been searching like crazy and can't find the answers I need. Since this is my first attempt at cooking I'm modding the stock AT&T Tilt2 ROM (21849) from the HTC website and have a couple questions..
1. I only use Titanium and don't want Manila cooked into the ROM. I've found Manila_ATT_2_1_19183217_0 in the EXT tab of oskitchen and unchecked the box. Is this all I have to do to keep Manila from being cooked in?
2. This stock ROM has NETCF 2.0 in the SYS and I'd like to replace it with 3.5. How would I do that? Rip a 3.5 folder out of another build and place it in my SYS folder?
3. I recmodded the packages as instructed in this post in the kitchen thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5714524&postcount=439
are there any other dll folders I need to recmod?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1- Exactly.
2- Exactly. Or just find a NETCF package. I've seen it somewhere.
3- No, if you have native 6.5 NK And tilt2 has it. Also search for it somewhere and rapleace it in your kitchen. (if it is not here already) (Assuming you want to use 6.5 builds, otherwise simply ignore this.)
Thanks a lot for the info! Getting close to cooking this thing. Yes, I'm using 6.5 and osKitchen tells me that it is a native kernel.
I found this post...
http://www.mobileunderground.info/showthread.php?t=3841
and was wondering if it was safe to de-select any of the packages listed there that are dependent on Manila, since Manila is not going to be installed on my ROM. I am checking to see which manila-dependent packages in my build correspond to ones on that list. So far the ones I am unsure of are..
Contact Utility Engine
HTCFontLink
NewContactCard
Any others I can safely remove? Also going through and removing HTC apps/utilities I don't use. Its a PITA searching for these individually so i can find out what they do.. I started this thing over a week ago lol. So far I've removed..
SignatureReplace - sigs in email and messages
Redial - used for redialing through BT headset
PTT - safe to remove?
MenuEnhancement - from what I gather is for the fullscreen menus..
LockscreenAppLauncher (removing this will keep the WM lockscreen?)
HACSetting - for hearing impaired people
FullScreenPlayer - for use with htc album
FacebookEngine - for Manila
Audio Manager
Album - HTC Album
App_Service
Oh yea... and how do I determine the page pool size?
Thanks for any and all info.

Baby steps lol. I'm new to this cooking thing so I wanted to start off modding the ROM it came with since I've been using it for a while and I have a decent idea of what I want changed. I have a lot to learn and I also wanted to know I wouldn't miss on anything carrier specific for my phone, keyboard and other features to work.. I have downloaded this file which is I believe the RhodS2 you are referring to..

I want to get comfortable working with things first. When I finish this ROM I'll start playing with that one. My Tilt2 is my only phone other than some POS SciPhone i68+ I have laying around so if I mess it up I'm up the creek lol. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. I'm sure I'll have some more soon

Notification Delay FIX

Notification Delay FIX
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, I decided not to wait til tomorrow, well technically for me it is (4am). Here is the long awaited fix.
*DISCLAIMER*
I am in no way responsible for damage to your phone, software breakages, Temper flares, or Hiccups, or Brain Farts. You are freely attemping to fix the notification relay delay based on what is being attached to this post knowing the risks.
Compatible with: HD2/Leo & Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2
Notification Enhancement Build 2011.3730.
Nothing has been added nor removed. This will fix the HTC notification, especially for SMS delay. This Build is only for HD2/Leo Roms 1.72 or Higher, & Touch Pro 2/Tilt2 Roms 2.07 or Higher Do not know if this will work on lower build roms, but see no reason why not.
I have removed the option to choose where to install so there is no mistake. There is the option of uninstalling this fix should it not work, or renders anything possibly to lock up or not work properly. I would suggest to make sure messaging client is not running when instaling.
If for some reason the cab fails to install claiming you dont have permissions, copy the cab to your device and run it from there, this seems to resolve the permission issue for some reason.
This fix does not remove the Msg Sent notification that seems to be default, if you wish to not have this notification, edit this line in the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\Messaging]
"DisableSMSSuccess"=dword:1
Known Bugs:
None Known or detected.
Known Issues:
May not work with Arcsoft Messaging system, has not been tested. Only has been tested with HTC/Jayaayu (AKA: Commviva) Client.
All comments welcome, Good, Bad, or Ugly.
Enjoy everyone.

Agreed, clarification on exactly what this fixes is needed.
+1 for clarification, cuz if this will fix the lag caused when a message is coming in i would love it!
not the same lag issue i was thinking of. i hope it works for those guys though they seem very irritated!

Explains all.
Thanks for the explanation, didn't even know that problem exsisted . I hope your fix works for people suffering from this problem.
i've been getting that on 1.66 but it's a bit intermitant. i'll download and test it over a few days and report back
Personnally i've this "lag" after sent message slow to return to home...
You think your cab can help me?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJTXefa9PPE
some how i doubt it because that is caused by the messaging application itself. I have this too and i also have the slow load issue when a contact has more than 20 messages associated with it (i have one that has 2364+ (growing even as we speak))I installed netripper's LCS app which improved it but it's still not as fast as my diamond with the default 6.1 messaging app. I've also got the slow to allow typing problem and none of the tricks i've seen help with that one.
Ok lol
So waiting a proper HTC messaging client

I've just installed this onto my HD2 and i think that this cab doesnt solve that problem, but improves the ability to type faster when messaging thread reaches a higher number, as before typing would have been laggy for me, when the message thread reaches 50+ messages. Well, thats what i've experienced anyway.
Didn't i say that without even installing it? Yeah, i did, in post 11. This is for the notification system only i.e the sound that plays when you get a text message or mms. This patch doesn't fix any of the many other problems there are with HTC's - frankly ****ty - messaging program. Why HTC found what microsoft found good enough for the last 2 versions of WM wasn't good enough for them i have no idea because that works well and now includes exchange synchronisation support for sms messages (if you have exchange 2010 and outlook 2010) and almost all the other WM 6.5 partners are using it.
In fact i think i just convinced myself to install the hack that allows Sense to use the WM default (outlook style) messaging UI instead but i will try this first.

Looking at your video, that doesnt look like a stock rom. After sending a sms I dont have that problem with the home screen freezing.
Again This is for the notification problem only. Depending on your rom, the Newest Msg client that works best so far is: HTCMessaging_Client_SKT_1_5_20143724, but its in Korean, which isnt a big deal either. The lag is still there, but allows you to type without having to wait for the msgs to load. So far no magic bullet has been found yet.
Sadly it isn't working for me
tested on
Touch HD:
Blackstonhenge 1.5 Hyper WM 6.5.5 Manila 2.5 - HTC Messaging (Client 3625,2622, modified Client by Wajk - i guess it's 3625) with Radio 1.14 / 1.15 / 1.17
Blackstonhenge 1.6 Hyper WM 6.5.5 Manila 2.5 - HTC Messaging (Client 3625 (?) edited by Wajk, new Version)
Notification in Standby (Screen off):
- on Batteryusage: no Textmessage Notifications (but MMS/E-Mail/... will work)
- while plugged into Charger: Notifications work
But as far as you did this cab, you must have an Idea what the Reason for this Bug is, can you please tell me what exactly your Cab-file does change? Im also looking for a Solution to fix this Bug, would be good to know your Suspicion. I wont take any Credit if i will find something usefull, just wanna get this working

Okay the cab really is nothing special, I have 3 rom builds, HD's 1.72 (Telstra), 2.13 ToMoUS and the TP2 2.07. The ToMoUS Rom has the Notification problem, which seems to be with the Notification Enhancement Package. The TP2 2.07.401 didnt have this issue, and the Telstra 1.72 doesnt seem to have this issue, so I tested changing this package alone, and found that the 2.13 rom has this problem. But take note, that this was tested on the TP2 on a stock 2.07.401 TP2 rom. I was taking the HD2 packages and putting it into the TP2 rom, thats how I found this to be the cause. I first installed all the packages from the 2.13 rom into the TP2 and it started happening, thats when I went searching for what it could be, and for me, the Telstra 1.72 rom and TP2 2.07.401 Notification Enhancement packages works.
Also note, I do not know if this will work with custom roms, due to the fact that alot of custom roms use the arcsoft messaging program, not the htc. Again mine is stock rom interchanging the packages.
Yea i was looking at your Cabfile. I also think that my Problem is the cause from HTC Settings Enhancement. Setting something within the Notificationsetting under the Manila Settingstab, doesnt affect my Windows Mobile Sounds and Notification Setting...
Under HKLM -> Software -> HTC -> HTCSettings_Imrovement i found some strange things:
Current_DisplayTime : shows a wrong time
DefaultSound_NewTextMsg : there was something different than i had selected
NotifySound_SupportFilterSound : dont know what it does, but is set to 1
SoundOption_AllEnableEvent : is dissabled ...
SoundOption_Intialized : enabled
and under HKLM -> Software -> HTC -> HTCSettings_Imrovement -> DisabledSoundFile : there are a few Entries, but why are they disabled?
edit.
solved now,i removed HTC Messaging and installed the HTC Messaging Client from NRG and his NRG-Roms, this one works for me, now my Notifications are back

[Q]Cooking a ROM and making a changes

Hi to all,
I just started cooking my own ROM for my Fuze 3 days ago and I'll say It's really challenging and needs a lot of patience and courage.
I've been fixing my ROM for 3 days now and still has some issues with some components in HTC Sense specifically HTC Messaging Client.
I tried looking for an answers here and there but I had more sighs than Hi's.
It's kind of tiring too to re-flash every time I try to make a small changes like what I'm facing right now in HTC Sense 2.5 were the HTC Messaging Client version for Build 28244 just terminates when I try to create a new SMS. I cannot get the right client for that build.
Is there like an easier way to apply a new client version and any small changes without re-flashing? Or that's the way it is? What about the HTC Sense files or any files in EXT, should I just copy that in Windows folder? But of course in the right directory.
Here's my little problem with my current HTC Messaging Client version.
I am using HTC_Messaging_Client_1_8_2019_3733_00 for Build 28244
When creating a new SMS, tapping on "Tap to add text", terminates the client. What's going on with that?
I saw NRGZ and TAEL rom.
NRGZ ROM, which I usually use and if the "All Messages" is tapped in "Messages" page/tab, it will show the old Messaging. How is that?
Help?
Thanks!

sorry about the confusions
Instead of re-cooking/flashing, most of the time you can test changes by dropping files into your \windows folder, and over-writing the rom file. You can also make registry changes. Usually, a soft reset is required to load the new files.
Can't help you with the messaging stuff; I've removed almost all traces of HTC that I could from my fuze.
Are you cooking in a Text_Selection package? If so, cook without it (or use a diff package), flash and test
I think HTC Messaging is a little complicated package. In my experience I came back to Arcsoft MMS package.
There are many interacts with HTC Messaging: Message Enhancement, dual (or not) sim, manila, windows build, resolution, etc. I think you must macth all these variables. And without Manila I think this not work. A little hard. Get luck!

I dropped the HTC Messaging Client and felt better ..
Currently fighting over with ActiveSync right now... It's just too many DLL dependencies to win the battle..
